I saw in an article that former Broncos second-rounder Dalton Risner is still available as a free agent. Risner came into the league in the same draft as Bradbury. Many thought he could be an option for the Vikes with the 18th overall pick that year. He played tackle at Kansas State and was an outstanding pass protector. The Broncos moved him to guard, where he played the first four years of his career. No idea why he’s still out there.
Risner allowed 29 pressures in 2022. Ingram allowed 63, and Cleveland 55. He also allowed only six QB hits, the two Vikings combined for 40. To me, this guy is a clear upgrade to the interior of the O-line.
I’ve been saying the same for two months. He must be asking for a lot of money or something. Let me do some research. He was my #1 FA for us if we could land him. I plug him in at LG and send Ezra back to a horse and buggy with the amish.
This tells the tail of why he’s still a FA:
He was one of the best OL prospects in that class and fell into the Broncos’ lap. He was also the team’s best offensive lineman in his rookie season and it seemed as if Denver had found a long-term answer at the guard spot.
Well, the last three years proved to not be the case. Since that stellar 2019 season, Risner has struggled mightily. He constantly got beat in pass protection and never seemed to be able to pick up a defensive stunt.
His shove of Brett Rypien on the sideline during the Broncos’ Christmas Day game this past season was also a giant turn-off for many, and the team signing Ben Powers in free agency indicated that Risner was probably not returning.

This late into the market, Risner probably won’t demand much beyond a cheaper, one-year sort of prove-it deal. That has to be attractive to a Bengals coaching staff that is perfectly content with Cordell Volson at left guard — but wouldn’t mind veteran depth.
Hmmm…. their idea of getting constantly beat and ours is as wide as the Grand Canyon. They haven’t suffered with REAL interior line weakness. He’s easily twice as good or more than what we have, but not satisfactory to them. Might open some eyes here on how hard it is on Cousins game in and game out. When someone says “4-8” intoning Cousins choked, made a bad play, or whatever, they never consider the interior O-line getting crushed on that play. Really, not just on that play though. The Giants kicked the O-line’s ass all game.

My goodness this Autoflex shaft for my driver is amazing. I’m finally able to know where my drives are going simply with how I set up and swing tempo. I can draw with a flat take away, fade with a steep takeaway and pipe one within 10 yrds of center with a normal takeaway. My driver cost now is $1300 and worth every penny.
I can do that with a driver a guy gave me because it has a dent on the top.

I play golf for fun… my irons are over 20 years old, as is my 7 wood. I hit them fine. No need to spend a lot of money on a game. I can shoot in the mid to high 80’s on most courses and I’m almost 70 years old.
Well my philosophy is you’re spending $45-$65 greens fees or more a round couple times a month that’s around $1500+ a yr plus all the other nickle and dimes costs. It’s a small investment to spend a few hundred dollars for a nice club to play with.
I have plenty of money. I own a farm in South Carolina (278 acres), etc. Golf is just recreation for me, and mostly a social event. I don’t take the game seriously at all.
I didn’t think it was a economical issue precluding you from upgrading your equipment. I meet many penny pinchers who won’t spend a dime more for better equipment and are playing with ancient technology and try to convince themselves it’s ok. Many when they finally upgrade are shocked how much farther and better they hit it with the newer equipment. If you’d like to hit it like you did 20 yrs ago it’s possible.

No, my sister and her husband moved to Myrtle Beach about 6 or 7 years ago. He persuaded me to buy the land. Here’s a picture of my driver head. The dent is in the center of the club near the shaft. Hard to see.
That is in a delicate spot, close to where the face and hosel frame are poxied together but looks like its just far enough from the face and hosel to have not effected it. So likely didn’t hurt a thing other than looking down at it which bothers some but wouldn’t me either.

1 or 2 is still not bad. Being able to work the ball both ways with a driver is still pretty impressive.
It’s not like the control shaping an iron shot by any measure but knowing you can draw left or right allows for not swinging and not having a clue where its going like I’ve been doing and hitting drives away from the bad trouble.
If you want a draw, keep your right elbow (right handed golfer) against your body the entire swing. (Inside to outside swing) If you want a slice, keep your right elbow off your body and actually keep it as far away from your body as possible. (Outside to inside swing)
Its not hard. It is hard to mentally do it right at the exact moment, every time you try.

I’ve been getting bent over at work, phenomenally busy day. One of the techs brought in a big plate of scotheroos, my favorite, and wanted to leave in my office but I made her put them in the tech area as they are not good for me. The sugar content alone would give me the shakes while I’m trying to gently biopsy an adrenal nodule.
Just watched a semi dropping off some bathroom vanities at our place on the cameras. Holy hell he did an amazing job of getting turned around but tore up the gravel drive some. Which is good means I get some tractor time fixing it this weekend.

+20 over today. Improvement from last week for second time of the season. No blow up holes but whiffed on several putts for par. Driver and irons were dialed in but putting sucked. Usually that’s my strongest part of my game. Nice day out though

Yeah, I play golf… I have fun. I hit the ball decently, so maybe I can have fun on a golf course where others might just be angry and frustrated. If I hit a bad shot, I know everyone hits bad shots. Take everything as it comes and enjoy the day.
Solid advise. Unfortunately as people get better at the game expectations change and fun sometimes takes a back seat.
I played a round with an older couple a couple months ago. The guy was pretty good and said at one time he was 3 handicap. He hit the ball very well. His wife was not very good and clearly was worried about what others might think of her. I started talking a little bit with her on the 3rd hole. Just chatting. I mentioned how golf was a game, and we need to be thankful we can come out and have some fun. I kind of reinforced that with her throughout the round. When I hit a bad shot, I’d say something humorous, and just keep going. Afterwards her husband came up to me and said he appreciated what I said to his wife because she was more relaxed and overtly happy than he had ever seen her on the course. She said it was the most fun she’d ever had playing golf.
I prefer to ruin peoples round by poor etiquette and showing my ass when I hit bad shots.

I ran 3.5 this morning. Finally getting my lungs and legs back under me from the fkn winter.
I haven’t gone for a “run” since 2007.
My first run of the year I did about a month ago was fkn death. Carrying too much weight. I really dialed in my diet this week.

Joints are good from my supplementation. Hamstrings, feet, and lungs need to come back.
I don’t have anything against exercise, I just dislike running.
I only run the one morning a week. I jump two days a week for 20 minute sessions. Much better than running.
I do light work outs just to maintain a healthy weight and feel good. I JUST started running again in like..March, my cardio is ass lol. But I feel great after. Goal right now is a sub 30 min 3 mile. Im right at it.
Yep, I’m about the same pace.
My buddy who is in the guards full time can run his 3 mile in 21 minutes..and he’s had both his ACLs repaired in the past 3 years so I feel extra shitty not being able to catch him

My best 2 mile in high school was 9:20 or 9:40, I can’t remember for sure. That was a looooooong time ago.
4.5min splits is impressive.
I’m running under a 7 minute mile on my 5-6 mile days.
That’s amazing at any age. I remember the best I ever ran was right before my senior year in HS. 6:15.
I ran the two mile in under 12 minutes in the army, but that was a LONG time ago. Back in 2012 or so, I was running a 10K in 44 minutes, I’m almost back to that pace now, possibly better.
I run to the bathroom when I have to go bad.

Yeah, they did a scope and one of the biopsies tested positive for celiac. I feel 1,000,000 times better. I’m not bullshitting when I say I’ve shaved 30 seconds/mile off my running time since I went GF.

All kinds of stuff, including rashes. Lots of gut issues, the health issues were getting pretty bad from November until they found the celiac thing in February or March. WAY better now.

Yeah, breads for sure. They put wheat in a LOT of shit, though. USA gets 50% of our diet from wheat. I just gotta be careful before I eat anything. Eating out is not easy, but we don’t eat out a ton anyway.

Skoldiers, I expect Cousins to be very good again this year. At this point, he’s shown with somewhat unfathomable consistency that he can get the job done at a high level, no matter what he’s faced with. Bad lines, different OC’s, head coaches who don’t want him, etc. He just just keeps throwing TD’s. So I expect he’ll have another very good year. Alas, the Vikings just can’t afford him though. That’s reality. After 2023, KAM will not offer Cousins a viable deal (he will have to offer SOMETHING, but it won’t be realistic) and that will be it.
This is the most probable outcome….the 2nd most likely outcome is that he will suck and the won’t be offered a contract, the 3rd most likely is he will be really good and the Vikings will find a way to sign him.
I think most probable is they extend Kirk and people are going to be pissed.

Mick, Cousins is a free agent at the end of the year. I don’t think he’ll be looking for an extension. He’ll be looking for a 3 year contract. He’ll entertain offers and I think he’ll end up moving on, because KAM isn’t going to offer him a 3 year contract. Just how I see it.

It’s an insane level of wokeness, too. I don’t comment there much these days but a month or so ago, I was responding to something about the Vikings having a poor “MVP” track record. The reality is the Vikings are one of only a few teams to have 3 different players win the MVP, although none as a QB.
Anyway, I was providing some historical context to support the point I was trying to make and I mentioned a few specific examples, to include player names and the team they played for that included the (now known as) Washington Commanders. However, they haven’t had an MVP for several years, so all of the names I listed were Redskins at the time they played, which is the team name I used in my comment.
Less than 30 minutes after I posted, my comment was deleted and I couldn’t figure out why…there wasn’t any bad language or anything confrontational in my comment (or so I thought). I asked MarkSP (who was actively involved in the same thread) if he knew why my post had been removed and, I’m assuming, he reached out to the Vox mods. A short while later, I get a notification indicating my comment was deleted due to the use of a team name that is insensitive and no longer acceptable.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a major problem with referring to the Commanders by their new name as it relates to their future or brief “history” with the new name. But to suggest it’s not appropriate to use their original name when it’s used in the correct historical context is absolutely, f*cking ridiculous to me. I wanted to reach through my monitor and choke out that pansy-assed Vox mod. Unfortunately, the notification didn’t include a way to respond…just a button to “accept” their world view.

I don’t think the team will suddenly become the Redskins, but they will need someone else under center in 2024. Since Cousins has been almost superhuman in putting up TD’s behind one of the worst lines in the league, I hope that piece is much better this year and into 2024. That would give his replacement a chance to succeed.
I think the whole “Vikings have no future plan at QB” talk is much ado about nothing. Months ago Kwesi made it clear to the public and to Kirk that, right now, their QB plan is about maximizing flexibility. Based on Kirk’s comments since the decision was made to hold off on an extension (at least, for now), he seems to be comfortable with what is essentially a “prove it year” for him. He continues to say he’d like to retire a Viking, and he’s got one more season to show the team he’s worth another extension.
I’m not saying he will or won’t. But I like the fact Kwesi didn’t cave to pressure. Kirk’s made a lot of money, more than his production suggests he’s worth, by maximizing his leverage. I think this approach by Kwesi shifts the “negotiating balance” back toward the Vikings a bit.. Kirk and his agent reportedly were willing to consider a much more team friendly deal and Kwesi essentially said, “nah…let’s wait and see what happens.” I like it.
Kirk is one of the most productive QB’s in the league since becoming a starter in 2015, and certainly since becoming a Viking. So I have to say, he’s not underperforming. He’s doing pretty good behind one of the worst pass blocking O-lines in the league, and having 5 different OC’s in 5 years. BTW, I still don’t think KOC’s scheme is all that great.
Maybe Kirk plans to retire after this year and has told Kwesi that but wants to keep it quiet.

Had the same shit with Charter Spectrum. The 4th tech that came out actually told me the truth that they were giving out DEFECTIVE modems to people, advised me to go purchase my own, and then directed me to a website containing a list of all the modems that had the defect. Went to BB and bought one not from the list and haven’t had an issue since. And again, it was just because the Technician was honest and buried Charter for the vile scum of a corporation they really are.

I wanna try the T-Mobile cube thing. Supposedly half the price and works well. My neighbor got it a few months ago. They let you try it out for free to make sure all your devices function sufficiently. I have one hard wired PC, and then easily over 50+ other devices running on the wifi like laptops, phones, tablets, smart tv’s, cameras, watches, speakers, etc. The Spectrum signal is really strong, but they are expensive and a pain in the ass in general.

I played golf yesterday. (Second round of the year and I still suck)
Hit a drive about 18 inches off of the fairway in the “rough”. The rough was not grass. It was dirt with tree roots. It’s an older course with big trees lining each side of the fairway. My buddy says, you shouldn’t hit off of that crap. I said I play it where it lies. Effed up the shot and it went about a foot. Same dirt with roots. Smacked it back into the fairway. Chipped into the hole from just off the green for a bogey.
There is no way a PGA course will have dirt and tree roots 18 inches off of the fairway.
Would you have dropped the ball into a true rough situation or would you play it where it lies? I’m guessing a tour player would have been allowed a free drop.

As for golf, I usually do not really keep score unlit June, and I am out there to have fun, so I move the ball away from tree roots.
On a normal recreation round I keep score by number of Pars and Birdies and number of balls lost. And number of beers consumed. If I had fun, I won the day.
If I am in “Try hard” mode to check my progress, there is no drinking and I play every shot where it lies and keep score. Only real exception there is cart path or sprinkler head.

As you note, there is absolutely no way a tour play has to play conditions like that – unless he hits it a mile in the rough. Unfortunately we are stuck with the courses we play and the rules – so you have to take a stroke and drop.
Having once been a stickler for the rules, and then tore a ligament in my wrist from playing a lie close to a root, I always take a “free” drop now.
I do take a free drop when my ball gets lost in the rough.
There is no way the ball is lost. Tour players will never lose a ball in the rough since people run to point out where the ball is.
