Ugh, another dang work week is upon us. The odd thing is, I used to love Mondays and getting back to work. Now, I dread both. It’ll be over soon, I cannot wait.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I spent a LOT of time in the heat out in the yard, out camping, or doing whatever else outside. It sure feels good after that long and horrible winter. We got most of our flowers planted, got the gardens ready and mostly planted, and got a bunch of other “to-do” items off of our list.

I’m fine with giving Kirk the credit. He has done much better on comebacks over the last year and half. As long as you give him the criticism with 3 and out and 4th and 8, in the most important game of the season.

The comebacks are great. The problem is what lies in the first 3 quarters, there’s a reason you NEEDED comebacks. And to just say “Well its the defense that’s the only reason” Is toddler level critical thinking. The offense straight up disappeared for entire halves almost every game last year. They are not this juggernaut you claim them are.
The offensive issues are O’Connell’s fault, not Kirks, obviously.
Yup, poor play calls, asking Kirk to do the impossible. And by impossible I mean things that actual top 10 QBs do every week.
So you’re blaming the offense because the defense sucks. That makes sense. The Vikings 2022 defense was historically bad, one of the worst defenses in franchise history the offense kept us in games and had to compensate constantly to make up for the points they knew our defense would give up. Wake the fuck up, Kirk Cousins is a fucking baller.
The Vikings averaged 5.5 points per quarter in 1, 2, and 3. They averaged 8.2 in the 4th. 1/3 of the points they scored came in the 4th quarter. I don’t know how that compares to the rest of the league but it seems like you should score more earlier. They also only averaged 4.5 points in the first quarter when they should be able to score more with a scripted offense.

If you have a shitty defense the offense has to control the ball more. They did that about 55% of the time. Thats far from elite. Wooosh my point goes over your head as well. The point is there are issues in every phase of this team. Half the smooth brains here think the offense is elite and record breaking when they showed up half the time during games last season. And they think the the defense is the ONLY problem. Iv been saying this for 3 seasons now, it the fact remains we are not elite in ANY phase of the game out side of passing..because of one particular WR. You have to be elite in SOMETHING to make it far. Defense obviously isnt there, special teams isnt there so the offense is going to have to BE BETTER than last year to cover for weaknesses. Theres room for improvement. Does the D have to be better yes but I have a lower bar for them because of lack of talent and experience. Thats not the case with the offense. No room for excuses from them, at all. Unless you are on this form I guess, then they are just perfect little unicorns

I know you guys are excited to hear about my first “farm” auction.
First off it was a marathon, four hours on a hot humid day before they got to the good stuff. They started out with ridiculous items like here’s a fan belt and a couple of screwdrivers, who’ll give me 10 igot101010giveme1515cmon15…
House and 2 acres sold for 170.
A guy was rolling up with an 18 foot gooseneck trailer first thing in the morning, since the only item large enough to fit on that trailer was the 45 hp tractor I wanted and he had an out of county plate I knew I would lose to him.
At some point about an hour in the auctioneers claimed I had the winning bid on some stupid item and I said I didn’t bid, you’ll know when I bid.
My wife took the reins on the tractor bid cuz she asked me my top #, I said 17.5 and she reminded me that morning I said my top was 16. She bid up to 22 and it ended up going for 28.
Got some stuff at the latter end of the day, six hours in. Power washer for $10, haven’t got it running yet I’ll drain the gas replace the plug and spray it with carb cleaner. Trail mower needs some adjusting and a tune.
We bought a big wooden “file cabinet” that looks like railroad swag that my wife wants to convert into a center island. The contents were included for a total of $225. I had been warned of people and their sneaky ways at auction, caught a guy looking at a complete tap and die set in one of the drawers who withdrew his hand like a snake bit it when I whispered in his ear.
I know its cheap out there but $170 for a house and 2 acres? That’s crazy.
Yup, I thought it would go for 200-250. Oh well. Was a nice little house. However, she keeps the garage door open for the feral cats so everything in the garage smells of eau de cat piss.

$10.4M is his base + $600k for workout/roster bonus. He takes that down to $7.0M total and agrees to void the remaining years. The $3.1MM for 2024 can stay on a void year and they could even make 2025 a void year to extend it even more.
$6.0M signing bonus + $1.0M base. $6.2M signing bonus hits this year. $2.0M spread from 2023-2025. Saves $4.9M this year and both are happy. That 2023 cap hit is only $1.0M more than if he is cut (although that would be $5.1M in 2023 and $3.1M in 2024).
2023: $9.2M Cap Hit ($6.2M + $2.0M for new signing bonus + $1.0M base)
2024: $2.0M Dead Cap for new signing bonus
2025: $2.0M Dead Cap for new signing bonus
You would only be able to use a 2025 void year to extend the cap hit if he is on the roster in 2024. Otherwise it will accelerate to 2024, like Kirk’s is going to do.

I just don’t see anybody available that would be worth a big contract. I wouldn’t be upset if they brought Suh, Linval or Wormley in, but not at a big number.
Clark or Ngokoe would probably be my first choices for pass rushers. Clark could play anyone on the line in pass rushing downs. Suh or Brockers for cheap old guys wouldn’t be a terrible idea.

Somehow the deck belt on a mower just knows when to snap at the worst time. I went into the house and my wife said I had a thundercloud on my face. Said I’m going to town to get a new belt that $&%^$ing thing is such a PITA to replace the belt. At least I bought two belts this time.

Nothing to speak of. Third of an inch Friday night.
It started Thursday night here and didn’t stop until late Saturday/early Sunday. My weather station is saying we’re at 5.8 inches for the month. At work we got about 4 inches. There was a few bands of rain that hit a little west of Billings that we missed at my house so I don’t know what their total was. Shiloh was flooded and closed. Gable Rd in front of Shiptons washed out, Broadwater was closed, Zimmerman by Yegen GC was flooded and I think Zimmerman Trail is closed from rocks.
The temp in the office is in the upper 70s. Yuck.
We haven’t had much rain, but when I went down to the mailbox earlier, I was bombarded by those pesky little gnats. I was hoping with the lack of rain that they would not be so plenteous.

All great movies. I even liked the BNB remake with Billy Bob. The actress that played the girl in the remake died young in a car accident IIRC. Not as good as the original with Matthau but solid. I just like baseball movies.

I have been watching a lot of camping videos on YouTube for some reason, and I am unexpectedly getting little cooking tips from them.
Supposedly steel-cut oats are the best with butter and brown sugar, but I was impressed with even Quaker Oats.
I haven’t had the steelcut with brown sugar myself just quaker. I don’t usually eat breakfast and its been years since I’ve had that, they were a quick easy W when I did.

Flying to Charleston SC for a program review today. Trying something called Breeze Airways, direct flight from Tampa to Charleston. Hour and a half flight. Packing now… headed to the airport in about 3 and half hours.

I will never fly the Frontier/Spirit type companies. Everything I’ve ever heard about them is horrible.
I’m a Delta Platinum member. Trying this Breeze thing because it’s a direct flight. I can stand anything for an hour and a half. They have what they call “Nice, Nicer, and Nicest” services rather than classes. I chose nicest of course. Round trip ticket to Charleston and back was a whopping $214. Wonder what the experience will be like?

Yeah, same here. Allegiant offers some direct flights out of here that are convenient/quick. I’ve used them a couple of times and didn’t die.

My wife is flying with Sun Country on Saturday. I try to avoid them because they charge extra for everything. I wouldn’t be surprised if they charged by toilet square in the bathroom.
Yeah I’ve flown with them before to Mexico. They aren’t terrible but like you said, anything above basic cost extra and they don’t have business class or first class.
I flew Frontier years ago when I didn’t know any better. I stick to Delta now. I’ll occasionally fly Allegiant because they have direct flights from here to Vegas, Phoenix, and Orlando.
I have heard Allegiant is not as bad as Frontier or Spirit but is still fairly cheap.
That would be my assessment, too. I’ve flown them a couple times and haven’t had a bad experience. I’d say they’re way better than United. I’ve flown United several times for work out of necessity, and it’s rarely a good experience. They must send their employees to ass hole training.
