Last two patients I’ve done procedures on have had unpleasant intraprocedural courses. I have a biopsy of a soft tissue metastasis at 1500 on a lady in her ninth decade and if that goes south I’m hanging up my invasive procedure hat for awhile.
Therefore, tell me to jab an artery or sever a nerve.
Nah, you love your job….especially the fun invasive stuff, that is where the excitement is.
Sure, but I had a tough lung biopsy get hypoxic and then vasovagal immediately post procedure that I had to eventually farm to the ED followed by a thoracentesis that developed painful “shoulder cramps” ipsilateral to the catheter that had a full blown anxiety attack with diaphoresis and hypotension that I probably would have also farmed to the ED if not for the first case. I find it regrettable that I am not allocated a nurse for assistance as I can’t leave the patient in a technologist’s hands while I leave the room to give them time to recover when a patient is in distress.
Yesterday was another day of (half dozen) (de novo) bad canker cases.

The main problem is none of the (admittedly small town rural) nurses are comfortable with being given the reins for midazolam/fentanyl sedation and pain control, as in I am not going to be continually monitoring the patient or giving direction for administration other than a thumbs up or thumbs down if the patient is doing ok or needs more meds within the framework of the standard amounts given during the procedure. It is one thing I miss about the big city (having a rad nurse). I’ve used a CRNA twice but I know they aren’t too excited to just be doing mild sedation and being in a less controlled environment than the OR/PACU.
It sounds like the Vikings might release Cook.

don’t forget the main issue in any trade involving Dalvin has always been his bloated contract that was blessed by Rick Spielman, not KAM, and any trade prior to June 1st would have put significantly more financial burden on the Vikings to make it happen, not to mention the fact Cook was just one month post-surgery which would have made any trade dependent upon his ability to pass a physical at some unknown date in the future…so, any reports about a March trade are likely highly speculative, at best…and any people that overreact to those reports are stupid, at best

Saturday my wife and I walked the dogs in the morning, I had slathered sunscreen on preparatory for the auction and the scent must have attracted mosquitoes, I was getting buzzed by a cloud of easily 100 skeeters glomming onto my bare legs. Put on repellent the rest of the weekend and was fine. Monday morning I walked the dogs across our alfalfa field thinking they wouldn’t be active at 6 am and deeply regretted that poor decision. Started wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt and was doing okay, but yesterday evening I walked down to the creek to get a couple of bucketfuls of water and it was skeeter city, I had hundreds landing on my exposed face, neck and hands. No exaggeration.
I remember in my college years, a couple of guys about my age decided to float about a 200 mile stretch of the Peace River in a canoe, brought along adequate supplies and shelter, told people where they were going, etc. They took a couple of cans of regular repellent and IIRC they were no match for the voracious mosquitoes and horseflies and ran out of repellent about day 3. They reached their pullout point about a day late but were almost delirious from exposure and exhaustion and had to spend some time in the hospital I was training to be a lab tech at. I drew blood from both of them and they looked like Will Smith in that movie where he has an allergic reaction while on a date.
I can empathize, the way the mosquitoes were on me I would go insane after a few hours.

Cook was expensive and while I liked his talent, I’m glad to be rid of the contract. Never thought he was going to draw any legit trade interest – nobody wants to eat that contract, other teams were aware of where Minny sat regarding the cap and future contracts so him being cut and the Vikes getting nothing was all but a forgone conclusion.

Dalvin was also one of the most inefficient RBs in the NFL despite allegedly having well above average run blocking according to the collie molesters. He was still explosive last year though.

The draft capital value for these players is not what you cook up your homer head, its what another team is willing to give up, which is obviously not much.

Last offseason they got rid of a ton of depth players and backfilled with their own guys.
This year the high contract vets were in the crosshairs. Only reason Harry is still around is because he agreed to a restructure early on. If he drug it out he’d be gone too in my opinion.
They also cleaned out their CB room who was terrible, didn’t get in a bidding war for Tomlinson, got rid of EK… who had regressed last year in a 3-4, brought in more depth, and now we wait til roster cut’ sto see how much is left of any of the Rick/Zim guys.
