An auto repair shop owner in Atlanta who paid his worker in 91,500 oily pennies was ordered by the court to pay the worker an additional 4 million pennies, according to the AP. Okay, the court didn’t say he had to pay the $40,000 in pennies, but he did make the owner pay an additional $40,000. How the hell does someone accumulate 91,000 pennies?

The Tyreek Hill police investigation is over, sources say.
Cops told the alleged victim he would have to go to the state attorney’s office if he decides to pursue criminal charges.

I think this is a stretch. Yes we have underwater detection capabilities but this sub was 2.3 miles deep in the ocean. Not sure what our sensors would have picked up. My guess is they reviewed sensor data after the fact and found a minor disturbance they later theorized was the possible implosion occurring.

As you know I wrote a few defensive posts today. But I do believe if anybody can build a fire under those guys it’s Flores. He’s a tough son of a gun and that’s exactly what they need. Won’t be a lot “ah shucks” over missed tackles.

Another little defense thought and thanks for those who commented.
An early sign of weakness – the first Packer game we won. In the second half we got some pressure and Rogers would dump ball in flat to RB. And sometimes we had as many as three defenders, the first would miss and the other two would struggle to hold the carrier to 8 or 9 yards.
We have the ball and a couple of times Cousins gets rushed and dumps the ball to RB in flat. They have one defender who holds us to zero or one yard.
all things being equal you are going to lose when they get 9 and you get 1 on simple plays like this.
Take the Jets game. They were knocking the piss out of Kirk and JJ on just about every play. We played paddy cake with White and the Jet receivers. We won, but most of the time in the NFL you are going to lose plying like this.
And again, this is not scheme or aggressiveness, just plain pure physicality. The guys that out hit the other guys have the best chance of winning.

According to this article the Vikings and Cousins began contract extension negotiations early this offseason back in February, but they reached an impasse over the length of the contract guarantee the Vikings were willing to offer. Cousins’ side were willing to take around a $5 million discount to his market value (currently estimated at $43.2 million by Spotrac), but the Vikings would only guarantee his 2024 salary and not his 2025 salary. Cousins’ side were reportedly surprised by the Vikings’ position. That led to the impasse and talks were paused by early March, at which point the Vikings restructured Cousins’ contract to push more cap hit into future years, but without an extension.
Mick keeps saying nobody knows what the offer was that the Cousins camp made. Apparently someone does.

OK, I’m officially missing your point in regards to the Rodgers comparison. Cousins has a market value regardless of this. You might note that Rodgers has benefitted from a really great (and illegally holding) O-line in front of him for a lot of years. Rodgers is a truly great QB though without a doubt. He’s too much of a drama queen for my taste, but he’s a great QB.

Rodgers also won 2 MVPs after turning 37… which… also… get this… Happened in years 2&3 with LaFluer.

Cousins has a history of offering under the market value deals that GM’s rejected. Bruce Allen did it twice, and now KAM has. Cousins has done his best to deal in good faith. His standard is simple though. Don’t sign a contract that gives all the power to the team. That is the most important piece. No fake money and a no trade clause. Neither of those things are in KAM’s wheelhouse. Once he rejected Cousins under market value offer for “lack of flexibility” it was all over but the cryin.

Theres not much to talk about. We are thin and inexperience at every level, and its going to take another couple years of FA, drafts and growing in this system before we get a GREAT defense. We might be in the 20s this season. I feel thats a realistic expectation taking all things into consideration.

I think they need to mostly draft their way to a good defense. Simply got to hit upon some studs. Seems like we always pick up retreads.

Ok Here’s bit of a go. I want to start with two plays from the Dallas game a s examples. First,Pollard catch a flat pass 3 yards deep. Hunter is all over him – I thught he would crush him. This is Pollard not Zeke. But Pollard carries Hunter for a bout seven yards with Hunter on his back – neede help to then get him down .
Teo plays later. Dak makes a bad spin out out of the pocket right into Z’s arms. But Z completely whiffs
On the other side of the ball, they are throwing our lineman around like ragdolls and just nailing Cousins and Cook.
So my first broad take, we need to start hitting people on defense.We may not always cover or be in the right spot,but if you hit people hard, they remember it.
Hitting hard is about attitude and that can start tomorrow. I posted that Vidoe about Ronnie Lott the other day. Bill Walsh, an offensive guy said “we will never be outhit as a team”
We are out hit on both sides of the ball every game.

Let’s assume everyone at the NFL level has the physical ability to “hit hard”…yes its a bit about attitude, but honestly its also just about not being a pansy.
And if a player is a pansy you just can’t change that mindset over night….if ever.

It doesn’t have to take long. Zim turned the 32nd ranked D into the 14th ranked D his first year. It can be done. I like that they purged most of the defense, the roster was too old in too many places.

Interesting tidbit regarding Cousins contract and the potential franchise tag.
Said another way, since Cousins is technically under contract on the Franchise Tag date, the Vikings can’t franchise tag him.
More drama for the Crusaders.
Not sure how to read this? Does it mean Cousins is still under contract until the franchise window closes? And only a free agent then.

That said, Cousins is a free agent in 2024 and as I’ve stated before, I don’t see KAM doing anything significant to retain him. Thus lots of losing ahead in my opinion once Cousins is gone. You’ll be getting EXACTLY what you want. Lots of losing.

You always want to twist things huh DE? You know full well without a quality QB to put points up, your team can’t win. Without a good defense to prevent the other team from scoring points, you’re not going to win much either. Without Cousins, the ONLY part of this team that has been consistently good the last five years (the passing game) is going downhill.
You know the gocha game is sort of interesting. But a question as you research far better than I do. The folks here want to get to championship game and or SB. I think playing top shelf defenses with a bad line might contribute to some of those performances, but even so, the narrative that Cousins chokes or plays poorly in Prime time is a false narrative.

In 2017 the Vikings defense allowed 275 yards a game, and 15.8 points a game. That was a spectacular defense. In 2018, the defense allowed 310 yards a game and 21.6 points a game. That was a good defense for the most part. Unfortunately the O-line coach died before the season started and the OC was fired before the season ended. In 2019, the Vikings allowed 341 yards a game, but only 18.9 points per game. Coincidently though, 2019 was the year Cousins had almost the fewest pass attempts in the league and Zimmerball was in full swing. He traded a dynamic offense for a game control, running offense. The move worked as the Vikings made the playoffs. In 2020 the defense dropped to near the bottom of the league in in yards and points allowed. In 2021 same story, and in 2022, same story. So Cousins had one year with a defense that statistically was decent, and his coach decided to take the ball out of his hands and run it to shorten games and protect the defense, which may be why they were statistically better that year. Cousins production was excellent despite a bad O-line though every year.
Yeah I never understood why he was drafted so high, he’s was always going to be a multi year development player and his development has been stunted a lot by missing so much time with injuries, also not surprising he’s behind at this point, he just had surgery in December on the fracture and dislocation he suffered in like the 2nd game last year.
