Thanks to Mick for covering while I was out over the weekend & earlier this week. The fam and I went out camping over the weekend and earlier in the week. We got blasted with nearly 100 degree heat on the 2nd, then got drenched by rain on the 3rd, then kiddo and I ran a 5k on July 4th, and we went out to my brother’s that night and lit off fireworks. It was a hectic, but fun, several days.

Well, thank God our center and other guard are stellar performers.
I predict we will not get to a SB again until we have an all pro LG. Had one each of the previous four and when we were SB caliber after those our LG was pro bowl level. Naturally we also had solid centers, right guards and tackles but the LG it’s been since Hutchinson and McDaniel since we had a quality LG.

I actually think our offense does quite well given the quality of our guards. At times I get flustered with Cook getting stuffed so much in short yardage but probably most of that should be directed at our guards (and center some).

So a Felony is plead down to a misdemeanor, based on the premise that the perpetrator was addicted to drugs when they committed the crime? Hmmmm precedent has been set. Gonna be real hard to get Felony convictions on drug charges now.

Let me tell you about the best play I ever saw, guessing some of you did as well..
Don’t remember the year – sometime mid 2000’s. Game was Bucs/Saints, I believe in Tampa Bay but may have been when N.O. was displaced by Katrina. Don’t remember the score, who won, just this play.
Saints ball, 3rd and 6 or 7 and Aaron Brooks takes the snap, goes play action and is immediately strip-sacked by Derrick Brooks, ball bounces into the hands of Deuce McCallister, who makes a few guys miss, catches a block and is off to the races down the sideline, 45 yards downfield from where the play started and he’s home free….
Until he’s leveled by Derrick Brooks and fumbles, this time Brooks recovered the ball.
Unofficial solo stat line from that play:
2 tackles
1 sack
1 tackle for loss
2 forced fumbles
1 fumble recovery
One of those ‘effort’ plays that make you fall in love with the game.
The Minneapolis Miracle is up there, but this play has always stuck with me.

That WAS an awesome play, but the timing of it could have been disastrous had it gone wrong. End of the game, down by 5 with the clock expiring, sure. But that was in the first half with a tie score.
Had he fumbled or misjudged the toss and Denver recovers it……..

So it was ‘kind of’ practiced.

That’s one of my favorite all timers. Was sitting in a crowded bar downtown Chicago by myself only Viking fan in the place. Yup, I did some searching…..she was actually a nursing mother at the time, and there was nothing edited. Jim apologized profusely to her many times before each take, and evacuated the set other than only the most essential staff.
Sometimes it is very stressful to get ready for vacation. I have to help get the month closed at work, then do my billing, all in a day and a half. Plus I still have to pack, do lawn care and prep the house for us being gone. At least the neighbors have a lot of guns, so I don’t need to worry about anyone raiding the house while we are gone.
We should have fun after we get through all the prep work and get out of here.

Have read a lot about how the step away awhile and return low score happens.
Hopefully. Then I’ll get out in about 6 weeks for my first round of the year and shoot a 75.
I tend to think a little more practice hitting off real turf will yield better results. But, to each his own.
There’s no doubt…I’ve learned to shot shape well and can do it on the course but it is infrequent that it’s required to score.
It’s more about hitting quality shots at correct distances.
And the only way to get consistent at that – practice, practice, practice…….
The problem with practice is that you usually need someone around to inform you of what you are doing incorrectly….
If you shoot 100 free throws a day with horrible form you probably aren’t going to get much better.
If I hit a bucket of balls a day but keep making the same swing mistakes it probably isn’t going to help much.
I agree, once you have the basic, proper form than practice helps a lot, but if you don’t than you are kind of wasting your time.
If you are screwing it up at the range, you need to change your swing. Not saying it is automatic, but you have to experiment with your swing.
Or pay the PGA professional…….
Not so. Lee trevino hardly had a good swing. But he practiced it relentlessly and knew exactly the shot(s) it would produce.
You can play with swing mistakes- most do. They just become consistent about it. I played with a swing flaw that caused a slight pull and I played some pretty good golf simply playing a pull on every shot.
Yes..Jim Furyk’s swing looks like two storks fucking but it works for him.
Kenny Perry played a pull draw his entire career on the PGA Tour.
Absolutely. To much energy lost trying to develop a perfect swing rather than learning to be consistent with the swing you’ve got.
Deliver the club from the inside, and strike the ground in front of the ball has worked for me for over 20 years. I have no idea how I swing the club, other than I turn my hips to start my backswing and turn my hips to start my downswing.
