VIKINGS NEWS –
Ooof. That preseason was rough. Team looks bad and no depth at all. Starters will need to stay healthy all season for this team to have a chance.
I would have been betting the OVER on wins (8.5) up until the team started playing practice games against other teams. I think I saw one or two not terrible drives in the fake games. Brosmer looked better than Wentz last night and still crapped the bed. I know, preseason games mean nothing. Well, they show that this team cannot survive multiple injuries on either side of the ball. The offense should be better than last season, but I can only base that on the talent at QB being better than what we had last season. And I certainly cannot guarantee that yet. Rest of the offense, especially the O line, could improve but the bar is low. That is the most glaring weakness on this team. Then the defense. The secondary has no depth either. One safety goes down and the team will be trading for another cast off to fill the gap.
I am now firmly in the UNDER camp for wins.
Kirk still sucks.

I think they beat the bears at home, but I think even though the ftp don’t have two of their best players they’ll will win week one, too many new players on defense and I think the clown midget will take a few games to find any sort of rhythm maybe I’m wrong though the about the defense and The amputee, the fat fruit, golday, and whoever plays safety will surprise
The amputee and fat fruit likely won’t play much, so little to no impact from them. Rookies tend to play on specific packages the first few games.
Could see Wentz with the Vikings QB luck…..

Oh man my wife got PISSED last night when I pointed out that these little clips she sends me where a guy laments that “when your wife complains it means she loves you and wants to improve you, when she stops caring watch out” or “the top 15 things men do that annoy women” and I asked why there are no such clips of women lamenting the top 15 things wives do that annoy their husbands. She said, “of course there are, look it up” and I said, “I seriously doubt it”. OMG she went ballistic, had at least five minutes of scalding followed by a ten minute cooldown silent period. I hate the silent treatment, like I just writhe when it happens.

If the Minnesota Vikings had never signed Kirk Cousins in 2018, the franchise would have saved tens of millions of dollars and avoided years of tight salary cap restrictions, completely altering their roster-building strategy.
Alternative 2018 Scenarios
Case Keenum: The Vikings could have brought back Case Keenum for a lower-cost, short-term contract after his magical 2017 run, keeping Teddy Bridgewater as a backup or letting him walk.
The 2018 Draft: Instead of paying a top-tier veteran salary, Minnesota might have used high draft capital or mid-round picks to look for a rookie quarterback in 2018 or 2019, potentially landing a younger player on a cost-controlled rookie scale.
Financial and Roster Impact
Cap Space: Passing on Cousins’ fully guaranteed $84 million deal (and subsequent extensions) would have left the front office with significantly more flexibility to retain defensive mainstays from their elite 2017 unit.
The Timeline: Without Cousins under center through 2023, the post-Mike Zimmer and early Kevin O’Connell eras would have looked drastically different, likely fast-tracking a full quarterback rebuild years earlier instead of living in perpetual “competitive rebuild” mode.
Hmmm, not hard to imagine a Cousins-less scenario in which they get Lamar Jackson in the 2018 draft, or even trade up for someone else (Josh Allen).
Instead we got Mike Hughes. Hooray.

The Vikings would be even more cash-strapped now if they had one of those guys mentioned above, but at least they’d have a QB. It’s hard to find that balance of an above average QB at the right price so you have enough money for supporting cast. Kirk was definitely overpaid, and I’m sorry I’ve triggered you about hating him so much, but honestly, Rick should be the one you hate for doing that deal. That being said, I enjoyed watching football more when Kirk was here vs last year.

Yes. He got a bad rap for his last few years here, and obviously he was petty and sour about Rick and how he managed the teams resources, rightfully so. But, he also got stubborn and didn’t adapt his defense once it was figured out after 2017. I respect him more as a coach and many fans forget what he did from 2014-2019.
I liked his soundbytes more than KOC, that’s for sure. But I don’t think he was a great coach, either. Only focused on defense (to the failure of the offense) and like you said, didn’t adapt. Dinosaur.

I only watched a couple of minutes of the preseason games. I would hope they could win more than 8.5 games. Then again, that will probably make the Wilfs thing, “We’re so close! Competitive rebuild!”
I do not have s lot of confidence for the season, partly because i have never like Murray. He could lay a big turd for us. I have also lost faith in KOC, to lead the offense.
Love the D, would like to see Flores as HC. I like our draft picks , so far.
That said, i will watch every game and “hope”.

I’m going to disagree. There are a lot of contributing factors that have been out of his control. He’s like Justin Herbert. Herbert is 0-3 in playoff games, get rid of him right? When you have a high caliber HC or QB you hang on to them. Especially since HC doesn’t count against the salary cap lol.

I have the biggest grin on my face right now. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Not quite a Ryan Leaf level miss, but close. Guy is as close to a complete bust as you can get. Makes Ponder and Bridgewater look like semi justifiable picks.
Bridgewater was a good pick. That non-contact injury felt like providence against the team’s worldly success.
Mayhaps they may try to stash him on IR to make room for someone else???

Honestly if that is the case I couldn’t blame him. He’s been nothing but loyal and a consummate professional. At this juncture I hope he gets a ring, even if it’s not with Minnesota. I would much rather prefer it be in Minnesota of course.
Yeah, to be clear, I have no ill will whatsoever towards him. His contract didn’t match his production last year, but that was not his fault. Trying to feed him the ball is just going to be a distraction, and thanks to GF and Rob I realize the window to trade him without a disastrous cap hit starts next year, I just can’t remember off the top of my head just what the cap hit will be.

Most experts rank us low not because of overall talent but the question of QB. OK that’s reasonable.
We may have the lowest rated QB room in the division right now but I believe Murray barring injury will be the number one QB in the division by season’s end.

I am very close to giving up on JJ if he can not play with minor pain. It is just rumors and it is a preseason game, so I will wait for this in the regular season.
Yeah I was done with him after the 2nd Preseason game. Dude is not ready and may never be. Whatever adjustments he is making in practice (which are there by all accounts) disappear in game time and at game speed and he cant handle it mentally. He’s young, and he may have a future. But he’s not ready. No reason to remove him from the team unless he’s a locker room cancer and wants out.
