Last nights game was awful but my prop parlay hit and I won $1300 so I had a good time. Achane and Waddle over 5.5 Receptions, Tua over 222 passing yards, Henry over 99 Rushing Yards and Likely over 22.5 receiving yards.

It’s not the “day of” that’s the problem…it’s the dark when I go to work, dark when I come home from work that sucks. I sense your hours are more flexible than mine.

Thats fair. And idk man, I was born and raised in ND and ALWAYS had DLST so im use to it. In the fall once Basketball practice started, I was waking up when it was dark, would be in the school from 8am until 630-7pm and then would go home in the dark and eat supper.
Now Im an adult and I get to work by 8am in the fall/winter in the dark and leave at 5pm with about 30min until dark soo. No not really that different id imagine.
I put in about a half hour extra on each side so not much different, the one big difference is where I sit in relation to the mountain time zone, against the eastern edge of the time zone. That means you get a glimmer of sunshine pulling into the parking lot as the sun rises “earlier” here but by the time I walk out the door vampires are partying in the street.
Yup. I know the feeling. It does get depressing dont get me wrong. I take vitamin D heavy in the winter months, still hit the gym, it helps the seasonal depression. Its why I like road trips when I can at work, gets me out of the office and into day light

As to the video of the day, it isn’t the most exciting one, but I was unaware that vanilla extract contained alcohol. The amount this lady drank was outright impressive. Why you would decide to down 20+ bottles of vanilla extract instead of vodka to get drunky is beyond me, but I learned something new with this video.
Alcoholics tend to do stupid things to get their fix. That being said, watched Flight again last Saturday since it had been awhile, great movie.
Yeah and I’ve heard about some crazy ones like drinking perfume and stuff, but I had never heard about slamming vanilla extract.
Aftershave is a big one too

Just because it seems like a day to stir stuff up, I have some comments on the SNAP discussion from previous days.
First of all, I must say that the system is broken and needs to be fixed. There are people (and I know some and my wife is related to some) that play the system, some that scam the system and some that outright cheat the system. There are people that have lived in the system so long, they don’t know any other way to live. We have leaders that don’t care and some that actually promote the problem due to their own political philosophies.
However, it is easy from a distance to say, “It needs to be fixed RIGHT NOW!”, especially when on the way home from the grocery store you stopped and filled up your big SUV with gas. As you and your spouse struggle to find room in your already crowded refrigerator and pantry for the groceries, you are discussing where you should go out to eat this weekend and should you buy your grandson a new bike or a new gaming system for his birthday on Sunday afternoon. I think a lot of people are not going to feel bad for the crooks that are going to suffer when they don’t get their SNAP card replenished, but unfortunately there are a lot of people that are going to suffer. There are people that legitimately need help and should be helped. Some people are going to have to make some serious choices about what they are going to do with their paycheck that they get tomorrow. They have already been warned by their landlord, day care center, insurance company and credit card company that they need to pay up or get cut off. Do they buy their kids prescription meds or food? Do they buy gas so they can get to work or food? And it sucks even more because when they stopped at the local food pantry, they were turned away because the pantry is out of food because everyone else was stocking up (true story at a food bank near us). Some of them are really hoping that the weather doesn’t get much colder because the kids have all grown out of their coats, boots, hats, mittens and snow pants.
As I mentioned, their are dirt bags that cheat the system, but there are some people that due to unfortunate circumstances such as health issues, disabilities, accidents, the failure of the education system, the failure of our government and the failure of our churches that are in desperate need of help. There are people that are trying to improve their lives by escaping from a household of abuse or addiction, and now are out on their own with their children, trying to do something good, but need help. There are going to be a lot of innocent children that did not get to pick their parents or get to pick the situation that they are living in, that are going to be hungry.

The problem is that there are way too many people who get food stamps that eat 100 times better than I do. We eat simple food, my kids eat cold lunch at school and we don’t go out to eat. Those on food stamps not working by choice get to eat crab, drink soda, go out to eat and their kids get free hot lunches every day. I saw something the other day that said people on food stamps spend significantly more every week than somebody not on food stamps. I don’t remember how much, but it was significant. Bring back government cheese. I’m all for making sure kids don’t starve, but EBT needs to be like WIC. Limited items and tied to a person. There are too many people selling their EBT for drugs or complaining they can’t afford to buy groceries themselves while they get their hair and nails done every month.
I agree with everything you said. There are still going to be innocent people suffering until they get this resolved.
It used to be embarrassing to be on food stamps. Now it’s a matter of pride. Limit what people can buy and make them prove what else they are purchasing. If they have nice vehicles, are getting their nails done, and are buying designer clothes brand new, then cut em off.
Hell, it’s tax payer money going to these programs, so publish who is receiving what. The tax payer deserves to know where their money is going.

We have 12% of Americans on food stamps – the richest nation in the world.
There is indeed some major structural issues in our economy and government directed policies that serve to drive the economy.
I remember when it was embarrassing to be on food stamps. Some people have no shame, however.
If you really want to get worked up, visit your friendly neighborhood ER/primary care free clinic for Medicaid recipients. The poster child for Medicaid and food stamps as on the KTVQ website today is the single mother of three (daddy(s) never mentioned) working three minimum wage jobs but that is not the reality. Why bother to see a primary care physician and optimize your weight/BP/cholesterol/etc when you can just pop in the ED and get whatever imaging, lab tests and drugs you want for free.
RE: optimizing health and me being mostly in primary care. Often said I’d be out of work (or have to move to a larger metro area) if people didn’t smoke, kept BMI < 30, exercised just 30′ a day 5 days a week, don’t abuse substances. Also, please don’t wear PJ’s to a health care appt.
I have no problem with giving people a ‘hand up’ when needed. I know I have needed one a time or two.
I do however have a problem giving out handouts time and time again while they play the ‘victim card’.
Overhaul is needed, The Teacher can spend hours talking about all the abuse she has seen with her students families.
That is not a discussion most people want to have, it is messy and interferes with some people ‘virtue signaling’.
First get the gov opened up and then work on reforming the system. It wasn’t broke in a day and won’t be fixed in one either.
Agreed. This will take a long time to fix. Even longer because some leaders don’t want it fixed. It is too bad that the innocent people are getting hurt because of those that don’t or won’t do what is right.
This is one of those either rip the bandaid off or it will never get fixed and will only grow and get worse.
Yep, oversite only goes so far, eventually you have so many people watching over the program that people either slip through the cracks to get in or fall through the cracks and get left behind.
If you were to give out coupons for free flour, sugar and milk 95% of the people on SNAP would get off of it, because it would be easier to get a job and buy the junk food themselves.
Agree that there are many that are in need and also agree there is much abuse.
So what do we do – nothing?
Seriously, why can’t we have a reasonable program for those in need without abuse? And something seems wrong to me if people go on a program like this and are on it forever.
A lot of these issues do not really have simple answers. It gets more complicated when there is a massive bureaucracy that just churns along. It becomes less about helping people and more about just keeping your government job. It just sucks when innocent people suffer because of ineptitude.

A great retirement day yesterday. Got up and drove to tbe Poconos to golf with a buddy. I shot a 93 on a fairly tough course. Many of the par 4s i could not reach in 2. Then, after a few mid-day beers i spent an hour trout fishing. Thrn a drive home to catch the grandsons playoff soccer game

I really enjoyed watching that. The fact he patiently listened to the lady’s run on questions starting with the Vance’s split faith household and even let her ask a follow up question amazed me. If I got a chance to ask the VP a question on an open mic no way I would have the stones (or rudeness) to keep asking follow up questions.
I don’t know that she was ‘rude’ (she did keep raising her hand) but more passionate. She seems like a young person who gets emotional about issues without understanding most of the details about those issues.
I enjoyed her intense, over excited 9-10 question opening, saying ‘I am sorry but I need to get this all out’.
There isn’t a world where I could imagine Walz ever being the POTUS. I really have problems thinking he is a professional polician.

I think you mean the LOS but yes, teams win in the trenches. The Eagles have had the best O-line and D-line combination in the league for a couple years now. The Lions are in the same category.
I actually felt we were getting there this offseason too, but alas it hasn’t panned out.

Was rereading some of the lively Wentz/KOC talk from NLV and Jackson from yesterday’s thread.
Sort of made me wonder who that Number 9 in a Vikings Jersey is that is pictured above?
I think the Vikings are going to come out and shock the world this weekend and win by double digits. If it’s not double digits, it will be because the Lions score a meaningless TD at the end of the game to get within 8 or 9.
That or they will be up by at least 10 for most of the game and the defense will falter at the end and they will lose by 1 on a last second field goal.
Its a little early for the special gummies, Bow.
I’m pretty good friends with our safety guy and he won’t drug test me so I’m good.

For the first half, I’m gonna predict a fair number of three and outs, a couple of sustained 10 minute Detroit drives capped by converting a couple of 3rd and 12’s, bone headed penalties on special teams and offense to hamstring a couple of promising Vikings possessions, and Pam Oliver breathless by the end of the half running to the Vikings blue tent.
Second half will open with a 3 and out. Defense will get a couple of takeaways to make things interesting, but alas the purple will not be able to overcome the first half differential.
That’s some prediction… grin. I’m hopeful the history between the teams will make this a close game. We know them, they know us kind of thing.
That’s my hope.
