Welcome to Tuesday, or better known as the day the QB not to be named takes off from football. The game may have been ugly for 2 1/2 quarters but, the final 1 1/2 quarters made up for it. Hopefully the rust is knocked off and we can get off to a better start this week. We will need it to beat the Bears. They looked dominant on Sunday, but it could be because they were facing Carolina.

Their defense is going to be ass this year. I was calling it months ago. The ONLY redeeming stat they had was turn overs which is a luck based stat and is unsustainable from year to year. They were bottom in the league in every other defensive category. Their offense better be top of the league or they are going to lose A LOT of high scoring games. Which is just peachy with me.
Why did JJ (QB) suck this week?

Caleb is a very gifted athlete his problem is mental toughness once something goes wrong for him can he recover? I was not happy with our D until late in the game, hope it was just lack of playing as a team and they will have their poop in a group Sunday. I think its time for a eff it go all in get Burrow here while we have a decent team. Not satisfied with the midget, Wentz is tough and JJ is just so raw, none of them gives me confidence.
It was one half of game one, the defense will be just fine. They deff schemed some things in there the first quarter for the defense. The allowed 3pts the entire second half. Lets not lose the forest through the trees here folks. Im not singling you out on this, there was a few folks yesterday echoing the same thing and I just feel folks should consider getting larger sample sizes of EVERYTHING before drawing bold conclusions. Same with the O line. They literally have not played a single snap with each other since last season. All O lines are terrible right now. Lets get to week 3 or 4 before starting to project out how good or bad a unit will be.
I am thinking that bringing all of that pressure left gaps in the coverage that FTP was able to exploit a time or 3. Plus a couple of missed assignments/bad angles (coughTheoJacksoncough) led to a few others.
The FTP OL wore down and Flo adjusted and we were more successful in closing those gaps as the game wore on.
The theory I’ve heard about the 2nd half success from the defense is simply that it’s designed to be high risk / high reward and that it wears offensive lineman down over the course of a game (so most success comes late).
If that’s true by design, and the Vikings can stay committed to the run (and do so effectively), that could be trouble for opposing offenses. Minnesota had a large time-of-possession advantage at one point during the game yesterday, I believe.

We know Wentz will not last. JJ will make it fewer snaps than the Midget.

Our Danube cruise was set to embark in four days. I was really looking forward to rest and relaxation as I have worked steadily throughout the summer to allow those with kids to take summer vacation. In my younger days I could deal with working several months in a row but the insane volume added to the weeks on end has given me a major case of the go fudge yourselves.
The cruise line emailed us and said there were “significant” modifications due to low water. The modifications were so significant that we had to cancel the cruise, they refunded us in the form of vouchers so we have twelve months to rebook the same or future cruise. So all in all nothing to really cry about.
Still sucks, I was so looking forward to it. Now we are scrambling to find alternate itinerary, maybe a road trip to Dickinson for a day. YAY! grumble grumble

I visited Boulder a couple of times, but I lived in Lakewood, Evergreen, Denver, and Colorado Springs.

How is everyone liking the new virtual measurement? You don’t get to see them spot the ball, you don’t see how they determine where the line to gain is, just a graphic of what the computer thinks happened. Not that the chains were always accurate, but at least it felt somewhat legit allowing for human error. But then it’s all entertainment anyway…
My only issue is I have to explain to my wife why virtual 6″ is a lot more than real 6″.

About the Pukers taking the 3 points off the board, then getting stuffed by Big Citrus. I was shocked because the 3 points made it an 8 point game and we would have need the TD AND the 2 point conversion to tie. That is a totally different game if the FG made it a 7 point game. Stupid move, and it may cost “The Flower” his job this year

Last week I had 2 outlets die – one GFCI in the guest bathroom, and an external outlet on the back of the house very near to that bathroom. At our camper up north we have an external outlet and it is controlled by the GFCI in the bathroom, so I was guessing this was the same situation.
So I replaced the bathroom outlet with a new GFCI. What was interesting was there is only one set of wires going to the GFCI, and they were run backwards (hot went into the pole marked WHITE, and white wire into the HOT side. Both outlets worked for the 9 years since moving into the house.
So, only one set of wires going into that outlet, nothing coming out, I figured that this outlet does not control the external one, but I was wrong – replacing the bathroom GFCI restored power to the external outlet. (and I wired the new outlet with correct orientation)
What sort of witchcraft is this?
I actually dealt with the same situation a couple of weekends ago. My smoker wouldn’t turn on – deck outlet was dead. I reset an outlet in a bathroom that had tripped and the deck outlet came back on. The deck outlet doesn’t have the test/reset buttons, so I was a little surprised.
I’ll be curious to see if you find resolution on your mystery!
Any additional wires in the back? Sounds like the GFCI has an upstream common wire with the outdoor outlet, but obviously there is no load wire going to the exterior.
Use a three-light receptacle/GFCI tester on both the bathroom and exterior receptacles. Verify that both indicate correct wiring. Then press the TEST button on the bathroom GFCI.
If pressing TEST kills the exterior outlet, then the exterior receptacle really is downstream of that GFCI somehow—and there’s additional wiring or a junction that isn’t obvious from what you’re seeing in the bathroom box. With only one 2-conductor cable attached to LINE, I’d want to understand that wiring.
If pressing TEST does NOT kill the exterior outlet, then the exterior outlet is not protected by that bathroom GFCI, and its coming back to life when you replaced the GFCI was probably related to an upstream/shared connection or something disturbed during the work.
Given that it’s an outdoor receptacle, I’d definitely establish whether it actually has GFCI protection rather than assuming it does.

No, no additional wires off the old outlet, nor any visible behind the box (but there’s only the tiny opening the existing wire comes through, so can’t see much).
I’ll pick up a GFCI outlet tester and run some diagnostics.

Should I rewire it backwards and try the test again? What would it gain me if the outside box shuts off when the bathroom GFCI pops?
We really only use the outside outlet to prep our pull behind camper (cool down the fridge and freezer before a trip) and we have a huge surge protector on the cord.

We can still blitz a lot, but we have to be disciplined and maintain assignments.
I was thinking about our blitz rate and it makes sense that we get burned in the first half, but shut down offenses in the second half. By the second half the opposing O-line is so tired they can not keep up with our D-line and linebackers.
Or is it harder to evade 7 guys coming after you as opposed yo 4 or 5

We did a decent job against the Bears last year, but Ben used to really have our number with the Lions, so I expect him to learn from it.

FTP’s run threat is a little different than Chicago’s. It’ll be interesting to see how Flores gameplans for week 2.
Our Blitz’s will absolutely work against Caleb….he sucks at reading a defense. Love was much better. We employ “zone blitzes”, the exact thing to do against caleb. Make him find a hole in the defense quickly. What doesn’t work against Caleb is “man blitzes” since everyone not blitzing has their backs to the QB, enabling a mobile QB like Caleb to take off. Blitz the hell out of him, stay disciplined, make him make quick decisions…he is no Love. I kind of think our D is best to contain this Chicago O, but we will see.

Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League Week One Summary
It’s a brand new season in the Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League, and I don’t think it is any exaggeration to say it is the most exciting thing that has ever happened in my life. It is up there with that time I found a really cool stick while walking.
PA Viking Fan came in at the top. Then again, PA Viking Fan always comes in at the top. We need to gang up on him and take him down a notch. Maybe we can come up with a handicap rule for PA. For example, he must always put 16 confidence points on the Packers to win or something like that.
I came in second. This makes sense. I put in a lot of offseason training and employ a new picking technique: I wear my bifocals, so I can actually read the names of the teams…
Mjolnir comes in third. I think this is Mjolnir’s first time in the league? Or at least the first time using his official handle? If I’m wrong, you’ll have to forgive me. I wear bifocals. What do you expect?
JacksonVike came in at a solid fourth place. I’m pulling for JacksonVike. He is my dark horse this season. I actually asked my wife about putting a second mortgage on the house to bet on JacksonVike winning the league. She said, “Sounds like a sure thing! Do it!” She is very supportive that way.
Surly took the fifth spot. Fifth sound mediocre, but it is really not that bad. It is only five points out of second place. It is a good spot to be, just laying in the weeds to strike in week 2!
Peterplaysbass is in sixth. I think this is Peter’s first season, as well? I expect big things from him. Just the other day, I gave a motivation speech to a bunch of gradeschoolers and told them, “If you work hard, someday you can be in sixth place in the Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League like Peterplaysbass.” They then called me a “Boomer,” which is good, I think. It means I really gave an explosive speech.
Harrison Smith’s Metamucil is in seventh. I’m pretty sure that is Benjamin. He knows he can push my “Harrison Smith is too old” button and get me frothing at the mouth with the rage I feel at seeing Smith return. Oh well. Maybe he will get his 40th interception. That will be a great story to tell his grandkids…when he sees them next week.
Bowbunch came in at eight. We have to cut him some slack, though. He probably made his picks from a tree stand while a grizzly was trying to climb up and get him.
DE Viking came in last with 88 points. I think we can all appreciate him giving us a head start. It is rare and uncommon to find the quality of mercy in people today.
Everyone got the Pittsburg, Lions, Jax and Eagles games right. Everyone got the FREAKING Chargers wrong.
We had two GENIUS picks. Mjolnir was the only one to get the Rams/49ers game right. And Bowbunch was the only one to get the Jets/Titans game right.
We also had two ICONOCLAST picks. Bowbunch was the only one to take the Patriots over the Seahags. Peterplaysbass was the only one to take the Dolphins over the Raiders.
We had no TRAITOR picks this week. Everyone took the Vikings to win. Maybe one could claim DE and I are almost traitors because we took the Vikings to win with only one confidence point. I prefer to think that we successfully resisted our inner Eyores, however. That’s a big psychological step.
One more item: I am pretty sure I picked the Giants over the Cowboys, but then I looked and saw I got the loss because I had the Cowboys picked. I am going to file a complaint with the commissioner that someone hacked my account and changed that pick to sabotage my season.
