Football is back!
I watched most of the first half. I was surprised to see the Seahawks ended up winning. It looked like the Patriots were gathering steam when I went to bed, and Seattle didn’t know what to do once Darnold went out.
Jadaraianaia Price looked pretty good. I picked him sometimes in my mock drafts.
There’s still time to join the Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League.
You only missed one game, so far. With the confidence point system, that doesn’t really matter because the missed game defaults to only losing 1 confidence point out of the possible 136 points this week.
So far we have 9 players. I think we had 12 last year because GF, his son and Freezy were playing then. It doesn’t take much time. Just pick the games and assign confidence points every week. It can take as little as 1 minute…or an hour if you’re a nerd.

Sam ruled out with a hip injury (just like KC Sam is was not ‘hip enough’) down 10-0 but Drew Lock just brought them back to 10-10.

Maye throws an INT in the end zone with 21s left. His 3rd of the game. 23-33 for the game for 178 yards, 54.9 QBR for what is worth.
Sam started and Seattle got the win so I guess he gets the credit, he was 1-2 for 13 yards but 70.8 QBR.
Oh and the sub, Lock was 16-22 for 187 and a 113.3 QBR.

They May (wink). But what they for sure had last year was the easiest schedule in like the last 20 years for any NFL team, they did indeed luck their way to a SB imo. I expect a drop back to 9ish wins.
They certainly have a better QB than anyone on the Vikings roster, and he is not breaking the bank while they build a team around him.
Once he gets paid, I expect the Patriots to be a solid team for a few years.

Another 1000/2 is not going to cut it.
I think he’ll do better than that, but since he attended the Met Gala this year, I’m predicting his head is no longer in the game. He won’t be in the top five receivers this season. He’s all about the life at this point, not the game.
I think he’s went to the Met a couple times.
Other than that, if Murray throws hospital balls like he was in training camp, Jets will have 2 catches for 35 yards and be out for the season with a broken neck.
Murray will be the second most prolific passer in Vikings history.
Not so much worried about the passing numbers and the number of wins.
If he gets us wins with his legs scrambling that is just fine with me.

Pukers have a rookie CB in Brandon Cisse and Keisean Nixon allowed a passer rating of 105.2 when targeted last year. That’s great news for Jefferson and Addison.
Josh Jacobs and Micah Parsons are out.

I agree. Still get away with a lot, but not as much as when he was there. I think on their SB run they went 8 games straight without a hold (maybe there was one called in there, but remarkable given how obvious they were)
They shouldn’t have even made the play offs during their 2010 SB run! The only reason they got in was on a BS call in the end zone in the Vikings game in the last game of the regular season, that helped them grab the last play off spot. So annoying.

my official prediction for the season is still

but I found a couple of ways to believe in a winning outcome for week 1. we’ll see how it goes.
As I outlined a few days ago, I’m also optimistic for week one and the season as a whole. Think a motivated KM with our weapons can be real problems for opponents. I believe in BFlo. In recent years we’ve been predicted to not do much and have overachieved – albeit with some never-before-seen statistical anomalies. This feels like one of those years.
it likely ends in doom as you’re expecting but still I think we’ve got a chance to be fun to watch.
Parsons is out.
Jacobs may not be.

I checked my two hives on Saturday. The formerly thriving purple hive is queenless and although full of honey and pollen is doomed to die unless they can raise a new queen. The formerly languishing queenless yellow hive is now thriving with a prolific new Russian queen. I had formerly tried to get the yellow hive to raise their own queen by donating a frame of brood from the purple hive, so I repaid the favor by transferring a frame from yellow to purple.
One of the girls stung my thumb, she died defending her hive. My thumb hurts.
I cut out all the pieces of 2″ foamboard to insulate the hives over the winter.
I think I’m going to bite the bullet and buy three additional hives, and order four package bees from little apiary on the prairie, assuming the purple hive will not be able to get queenright in time. That’ll put me in hock as well as in the doghouse. Bees and the hives are NOT cheap.

Little Fishin took him early I believe. I got the midget instead. Figured it’s a win win for me. Either the midget goes out and breaks my curse and puts up big numbers, or he gets hurt and JJ takes the field, for part of a game anyway until he also gets hurt and we get to watch Wentz again. I remember that most of us didn’t like some trade or transaction?, and Lifer just picked up his toys and left.
If that’s the season I participated in, I believe he returned a week or two later. I know at the start of the second season the decision had been made (or maybe had always been made) to allow for a legacy player, and both Lifer and I bowed out before the draft.

I hope you all had a great Labor Day. I don’t have to go into the office tomorrow morning. That feels a bit weird.
You will get used to it rather quickly I suspect.
At first it will like a ‘Staycation’ and then it will become more ‘normal-er’.
Part of the reason my semi-retirement doesn’t feel real is that the 4 days of the work week that I’m home, I will be working on my bookstore, and I approach that like a job. I start work on it at 8 am and I work until 4:30 or 5 pm. Of course, I’m my own boss so I can be a bit lenient. My lunch hour is generally really a lunch hour and a half. Plus if I feel like coming here and basking in the wisdom of the Skoloholics, then I can do so for a few minutes or more.
Keeping busy is important I think.
I had lots and lots of plans when I retired but The Plague hit and they all went down the toilet.

When you think about it, going into health care is really a bad idea when it comes to time off. Evenings, weekends, holidays, nothing is off the table. At least Labor Day and Thanksgiving are guaranteed to be on weekdays. If Christmas and New Year’s fall on a weekend, you don’t get an “extra” day off…oh and Christmas Eve is not a holiday, either.
I have worked more major holidays than I can count both in the military and at the prison.
In fact after my divorce I would volunteer to work those holidays so that someone with a family could spend the day with them.
retail was pretty brutal for that as well, and bartending.
Worked plenty of holidays (usually decent tips as a bartender) until hitting threshold and going back to school.

Although a win or a loss won’t lock us in either way but more indicate what we are dealing with. Since it seems like right now we don’t really know what the Offense will be like.
If we win the narrative will be about the pukers missing a couple of their best players.
If we lose, the narrative will be “Murray showed flashes, let him learn the offense and the team will be good”

I expect them to succeed given it is vs Vikings.
I feel worried KOC is going to go into this game hell bent on showing we have a run game and the Pack know this and will run their defense to shut that down.
Then we will have them right where we want them. Because KOC can not run an offense with more than 25% rushing plays.
No they will have us right where they want us because the only solution is to start passing and then you run your defense to stop that. Obviously the question is CAN they? But I think when you become predictable in the NFL it becomes WAY easier to stop you.
