Wow, yesterday was a long day. I got home late, then I had to get ahold of the police to report vandalism that occurred on a property that I manage. Some ding dong stole 2 refridgerators, 2 toilets (WTF?), a bathroom sink, the furnace (like, the furnace that heats the entire house), and a bunch of other stuff. He also didn’t cap the gas line. He also broke into the other unit (it’s a duplex) and vandalized that property. That tenant had already moved out, and this dude was the only one with a key, so it’s obvious it was him. He was the only one who could access the building and kick the door in to the other unit because the front door was undamaged, so the person who did it obviously had a key. Should’ve kicked in the front door too in order to not make it obvious it was him. Dumbass. You can’t fix stupid.

A 53 year-old Patriots fan was killed in a fight with a Dolphins fan at Gillette Stadium this past weekend, according to ESPN. It sounds like the two had been arguing the entire game, then the Pats fan walked over to where the Dolphins fan was in order to fight, and he got punched twice in the head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Plus, the Patriots lost the game, so it was a double-bad day for him. Sad, life’s too short for s*** like that.

Been in the back country out of service chasing elk with my bow. (I suck and should be cut).
Wow Akers and Risner! Does it change trajectory of the season?
Nah, barely a needle move. Still on pace for my predicted 8-9 record and missing division and WC by 1 game.
when cam akers completely changes the running game and we start running all over the place, and dalton risner single handedly reinvigorates the offensive line and kirk has all the time to throw and we carve up every single team we play…
boy are you gonna look silly
Sure am
Good morning losers
Kiss my ass Stu. Also good morning.
New thread?
I 2nd this….
i have a feeling if someone with the capabilities of making a new thread was on here, it would have been done already.
but again, that’s just a feeling.
No, no, no….it’s MORE than a feeling!!
I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away………………….
I can’t post on yesterday’s thread. I have elite time management, so this type of thing literally hurts my brain.
Speaking of elite time management, whatever is the polar opposite of that is what my wife has…
Isn’t that always the way?
i was raised with this moto….
“if you are early you are on time, if you are on time you are late”
my wife was raised with a very different motto. possibly no motto at all.

3 Dying
2 Public speaking
1 Watching the clock edge into “late” while waiting for wife to get ready.
I agree with 3 & 1. I’m a fantastic public speaker….

I don’t really like Portnoy, more of a bigcat fan, but this reporter is so full of shit, this is why nobody trusts the media, nothing but fake news tabloids anymore like Washington Post.

Kathryn Hahn is underrated as far as her hotness….
yep, I said it.
Lmao….
she reminds me of Leslie Mann in that they don’t seem to age and they are in ALOT of funny/good movies.
she doesn’t look like Leslie Mann, so i’m not saying that.
Just body of work and don’t seem to age.

I agree. Like them both. All three really. Paul Rudd is my wife’s celeb crush.
he’s one of my celeb crushes, let’s be honest.
Taysom Hill….. end of list.
I agree with this face also.
so can someone who knows more about the situation than me, explain why the rams got rid of Akers?
is he a head case? is he bad? is he a locker room issue?
i honestly don’t know, just curious if someone or multiple can fill the story out for me better
It is a head scratcher…if he were a huge mental case we would not have picked him up since KOC would have known that.
Rams have $53 mill in cap space next yr but that is inflated at this point with the work they’ve had to do getting their books straight. They only have $6 mill currently for the remainder of this year. So dealing Akers who is a RFA this offseason makes a lot of sense. They’re not going to pay him especially if he and McVay don’t see eye to eye so good time to deal him and get a little something for him and recoup a little cap this year.
Definitely an issue there. Sean McVay and him were on the outs. It was reported last year that McVay said he wanted more of a sense of urgency from him. The relationship soured after that and Akers said he wanted out of L.A.
what does a sense of urgency mean in that context?
does he dance around a lot? like urgency to just run up field? did he crabwalk back to the huddle making them take delay of games?
I would say Akers didn’t buy into McVay.
Like quiet quitting.
so no crabwalking
I got no clue what you are saying.
He saying you aren’t allowed to crabwalk
…back to the huddle
Oh. Ok sure. I get it now.
So our gain, not bad. Would think KOC has a idea about the guy.
I think it’s more to do with wanting to play and being a healthy scratch – that was the straw imo. By all accounts he’s a solid locker room guy – worked his ass off to come back from a torn Achilles faster than anyone and played in the SB 6 months later – to me that’s not a ‘me’ guy but I could be wrong. Was the starter all thru camp and week 1 but proved to be ineffective having 29 yards on 22 carries – with a TD. Tweeted that he didn’t know why he was a healthy scratch. Fresh start hopefully helps.
I think he knows full well and good why he was a healthy scratch. McVay doesn’t mince words with players. If he thinks they’re dogging it, he’ll tell them. Some players wants strokes, not criticism. Not saying this is the case with Akers, but McVay publicly challenged him last year, and that didn’t end well.
McVay said Akers was clearly informed why he was a healthy scratch on Friday.
So clearly there’s a disconnect there. Akers saying one thing, McVay another. None of us know what was communicated privately between the two. It’s interesting because McVay was singing Akers praises as recently as June. Called him a stud and said he’d be a big part of the offense. So I’d say it’s clear as mud as to why he’s suddenly fallen out of favor.
I don’t think it’s that sudden. It’s been brewing since last season. Pre-season hype is the norm for all teams and Head Coaches. What do you think McVay is going to say about any player in preseason? Look how Phillips sang Ingram’s praises right before the first game. Then… we see zero improvement from last year.
The Rams tried to trade Akers last season, after he was a healthy scratch in week 6. By October he was being offered up to several teams, but no deal was struck. So he remained on the roster. This isn’t a sudden departure from the norm.
I agree. It’s normal for an NFL head coach to talk out of both sides of his face…. 😂
appreciate the info about him. i literally know NOTHING about him.
Akers banged McVay’s fiancé
Actually I believe it has to do with Akers role, he wants to be THE lead back but Rams see it more of a rotation, hence the friction between them.
i mean, do more with 22 carries and you probably will be lead guy….
He ended the season last year playing very well, I think like 4 consecutive 100 yard games and a bunch of TDs.
^^probably….
yes to all
If the Vikings lose on Sunday…..
Agree…it’s gonna get real ugly real quick. There will be big talk of tanking and jettison players with bigger contracts and trading guys to position for the draft and on and on.
KAM has made a positional PR move signing a couple bargain bin players so he can say he tried.
Going in to Carolina 0-3 facing a good defense puts a ton of pressure on KOC and the offense to not fall off the cliff completely with San Fran and KC coming to town soon.
This Sunday’s game is a MUST win make no mistake about it.
Weren’t you the same person saying how badly the Eagles were going to destroy them and they had no chance? They didn’t get destroyed and they absolutely had a chance. Doom sayers are all the same. They predict doom, predict doom, predict doom, are usually wrong but then when they are right they go, “SEE I TOLD YOU SO!!!! I AM ALWAYS RIGHT!”
I, the vegas bookies, the national media talking heads and everyone here thought the Eagles would destroy us going in to that game. So singling me out is a pretty weak take. I will admit I was way overboard on being frustrated during that game for exactly what you point out we had a great chance to pull the upset, but shit all over ourselves and missed a perfect opportunity to catch Hurts having a bad game.
Were you wrong that they would absolutely get smashed yes or no?
Maybe
Well, it was 27-7 midway through the 3rd quarter, so the outcome was never in question. It wasn’t anywhere near as close as the score suggests.
Wasn’t it down to one score in the 4th and they had a 3rd and medium long. If we made a stop, we get the ball back with a chance to take the lead.
Well, I suppose you can find plays or situations where they could have, would have done something.
Vikings scored with 1:10 left in the 4th.
34-28. No way Vikings were going to win IMO
we were an aaron rodgers help from the refs/miracle heave away from winning!!!!!!!
Correct. Like every loss !!
is it bad i was worried that single rusher would still be able to get to the QB on that play?
When you have a statue for a QB, yes, your worry is warranted.
also bad Oline. don’t forget that.
recipe for disaster
Brady, Brees, Manning, Marino, all great QB’s, all pocket passers. Hmmmm…
We were in a position to win the game with 7:41 left after scoring a TD and making it 27-21. We just couldn’t get one last stop as the Eagles went 75 yards and scored a TD to make it 34-21. We came back and scored again, to make it 34-28 with 1:10 left as you said, but the game was close, and it was winnable.
If the Vikings ever lead in the 2nd half, I would agree. They never did.
So it wasn’t even close IMO.
They led in turnovers….
So since the Vikings never led in the second half, it wasn’t close? OK.
It was. The Vikings scored two TD’s to make it 27-21. Then the Eagles got the ball with 7:41 left in the game. They went on a 75 yard TD scoring drive to make it 34-21 with 4:13 left in the game. The Vikings came back and scored another TD, and had a little over a minute left in the game to work with, if they could have recovered the on-side kick. Had the defense been able to get a stop there though, vice giving up a TD, we had a chance to win the game.
LOL.
Thanks.
We needed a miracle to win.
No, we needed a defensive stop “when it mattered” to use your parlance, and we failed to do that. That’s not a miracle, and other teams do it.
But that score does not necessarily show the truth to the game as well. It could easily have been 27-14 had JJ not fumbled out of the endzone, and possibly 27-21 had Powell not fumbled on the punt return. Quite easily 27-17 had the punt return fumble not occurred.
We were beating the Eagles, and ourselves, throughout the first half of the game.
Very well said….
Jackson County’s finest rising to the occasion once again.
I think this will be a hard game to win. The Chargers offense is no joke. They’re averaging almost 30 points a game and are 4th in the league in total offense. Our new defense will be tested by that Charger’s OC. Thus, in my opinion, the only way we win on Sunday is if Cousins throws for over 400 yards and 5 TD’s with no turnovers. We’ll need at least one rushing TD in addition to that.
I think Cousins is a top shelf QB, but I think the Chargers D-line and edge rushers are gonna kill him.
Looking at 0-3 in my opinion.
Yeah I give the Chargers the nod in this one as well. The match up as you point out is exactly the antidote for where the Vikings have ills. On the lines and the secondary. Herbert will slice apart the secondary and the Chargers dline will get right against the worse oline interior in the league.
Plus, Baker Mayfield admitted he figured out our Defense’s hand signals in game 1, so I’m sure the Chargers will be looking to exploit that.
If the Vikings have zero turnovers, Vikings will win. Staley is a bad coach.
Totally agree. Win the turnover battle and KOC is far better than Staley
Flores has the Vikings secondary ranked 8th in the league, but that is mostly the fact the Eagles gutted his interior run defense.
The Chargers may try to exploit that weakness. They may not since their strength is the passing game. How it likely plays out is they’ll get enough out of the running game to keep the passing game productive and win the game.
We’re 8th good – but the Eagles and Bucs are not quite passing jugernautts. Still, progress
Can’t see us stopping the Chargers, but maybe slow them down some.
But, we’ve got to score even if their defense is pretty good
Stay close and give Staley a chance to make one of his great decisions.
Good thing is they have the 31st ranked passing defense. So yet again if we can give the gifted one just a little time he can win this game for us.
The Chargers are very balanced on offense. They are averaging 147 yards rushing, and 240 yards passing a game.
So we put up 400 yards of offense and don’t turn the ball over – do able.
It is, but that 400 yards of offense will almost all be on Cousins arm. Like always, the Chargers know this and will blitz the hell out of Cousins. That is the formula to stopping the Vikings offense. Get to Cousins before he can get the ball to JJ or KJ or Addison or Hock. With our weak ass interior O-line, that’s gonna be their plan.
So, maybe we can show them we can run the ball. It’s got to start sooner or later.
That would be great. Running the ball well would be a huge help.
Staley flat out sucks, it’d be funny if the Vikings got him fired on Sunday.
Could happen.
I doubt it though. It’s too early for a coach to get fired unless it’s like 42-0, or Staley goes for it on 4th at their own 5 yard line.
I think its possible, he’s been there underperforming for several years now and I can see ownership thinking they gotta make a move at 0-3 to save the season. That team has way too much talent to have been as bad as they’ve been under Staley.
Fair.
I can’t seem to find a certain QB who is frequently debated here and labeled not worth having. Maybe his detractors would rather have Zach Wilson? Oh and look, Burrow, Watson, Stafford…huh seems even some QB’s seen in their eyes as franchise guys struggle also. Huh makes you think maybe these detractors of this certain QB don’t have a leg to stand on which has been pointed out here a million times.
Does passer rating make you super bowl champ?
I don’t know…maybe we should trade Cousins to the Jets for Wilson and see which QB gives the Jets a better chance to compete for the SB.
A better chance doesn’t mean a win.
You always have a better chance with Kirk, but somehow it never works.
Well that’s because teams win games, not one player.
And why do you always have a better chance with Kirk? That question needs to be answered. I believe it’s because he’s a top tier QB but always finds himself on a team with no defense and a shitty oline and the facts and statistics support that reasoning.
Because Wilson sucks.
Funny to me how a story comes out about Daniel Jones and how much pressure he’s under yet has put up such good numbers. Holy hell… he’s ranked 20th in the league in passing yards, and has 2 TD’s with 3 interceptions with a 72.9 passer rating through two games. Cousins has been hit more than Jones has, and look at the numbers he’s put up, and nobody is highlighting that.
Jones signed a huge contract and he’s bottom third of the QB ranks at the moment. Yes, he’s under pressure, but so is Cousins (every season of his starting career). People should look closely at the comparison here. Two NFL QB’s who have suffered a lot of pressure the first two weeks, and their stats are at complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
passer rating is an archaic bullshit stat, that being said Kirk is playing better than them at atm
The GM is finally making moves. Will it help? Risner should be a positive, not sure Akers will help all that much, but, he was cheap.
The GM is seeing “plan A” is failing. Don’t do anything to fix the O-line in the off-season? Crap, gonna have to try and do something now after the season has started. Didn’t bring in a substantial D-lineman to be an impact player? Defense is getting run over. Have to let Cook go? Didn’t bring in a quality replacement, and we can’t run the ball. Now have to fix it after the season started.
KAM’s roster plan for 2023 right now is a failure.
Agreed.
I think the “competitive rebuild” bullshit had a 80% failure rate simply because that meant we’ll buy from the bargain bin and hope to catch lighting in a bottle.
Is the Bargain bin better or worse than the Scratch N Dent shelf?
One in the same lol…
Good thing with Risner is we now know per him in the interview below in the locker room the hold up on signing him was $$. He and his agent were asking for $$$ and the Vikings wanted to pay $. He had a visit with a team two days ago and was getting ready to sign and the Vikings swept in and paid him his asking price. He wanted to come here all along. Glad to hear it wasn’t a medical issue. Let Go!
Necessity forced KAM to stop dickering on price and bring in a good asset. I see KAM’s financial background, and contract management ethos as impediments at times. You want good players? You have to pay them. Nickel and diming top shelf talent isn’t going work in the NFL. Agents ain’t gonna play that game. Nor will fans trying to guilt-trip players into taking “team friendly” deals affect agents. An NFL career is short. Good players are going to get paid a lot of money in a short period of time.
The salary cap is the key to parity in the NFL, something the league wants. KAM rightly has to balance the budget and not overspend on players. The paradox here is getting and retaining top level talent at bargain basement prices isn’t going to be sustainable.
I’m thinking KAM is looking to trade JJ and of course let Cousins walk to put the team in a better financial situation in 2024 and beyond.
I think it was prudent to take an economic approach in the first two seasons with the cap as KAM has done. The cap was a mess and some core guys contracts were coming due so he had little choice but to address it. Now the whole competitive rebuild thing is bullshit I agree. It’s either you’re going to try and field a team to win a SB or you’re hoping in one hand and something else in the other.
KAM does have the cap looking really good in 24 and beyond so that is a better place to be. I still don’t quite understand his plan for the most important position in the game QB. I think he screwed the pooch on Cousins (there I mentioned his name this morning for that I apologize) he had the chance to sign a top 5 QB for three more years well under the current market price and that opportunity has now passed.
I personally am not a fan of going with a rookie starter next year because that is basically giving up on the season going in and provides less of a chance winning a SB than this current competitive rebuild BS.
The best plan he missed on was signing Cousins and then drafting a rookie high next yr to sit and learn as Love did in GB. That is by far the best way to develop a talented rookie QB. Hartman from ND would have been a perfect fit for that.
I won’t pretend to know who should or should not be brought in as the next Vikings QB in regards to the draft. College football is immensely different than the NFL, especially at that position. Teams look for gifted athletes with strong arms that they hope will evolve into a top shelf NFL talent. Bryce Young is struggling thus far, but we hope it all comes together. Trevor Lawrence has the talent too, but he is still developing. No matter how you slice it, it’s just rare that a rookie QB “lights it up” his first year. I agree with you that KAM screwed the pooch on Cousins. Should have wrapped up the top shelf talent, and leadership he had, rather than dickering on contract structure.
Rookie QB’s are a shot in the dark 98% of the time even for the GM’s that draft them. Nobody knows. Only been a few sure fire QB draft picks in the past few decades…Luck being the best of the bunch. The rest who knows. Lawrence was touted as that and he’s no where close to that level lol….that was all poster boys fawning over his golden locks. Rookie QB’s need development.
Well I’m hoping the Cam Akers signing ends up being a net positive for the Vikings. Certainly he’s coming in with a decently low cap hit and the 2026 picks trade seems a bit of a wash. He has the same speed Cook had, so maybe he has that big play factor that I never thought Mattison had. Akers 40 time is 4.47. Cook’s was 4.45 or thereabouts. Mattison ran a 4.67 in his draft combine.
I think it’s a smart move considering what we and the Vikings management have seen from our stable of RB’s. Not much. I will say I don’t think Chandler has gotten the reps he deserves and Mattison is showing he’s not ready or possibly capable to be the lead back. At least Cook brought a threat.
Akers is young, still on a rookie deal, knows the system, is an every down back and so on so why would fans criticize the move?? I guess if it’s not a top 5 position player in the league it’s a “bad” move. Akers fits the needs and the scheme perfectly.
I guess as fans, folks are always wondering if the GM is making a good move or not. Bringing in players is usually accompanied by a lot of fanfare and yes, hype. Then the player doesn’t quite reach those lofty projections and the fans sour on them.
To me, on the surface, the Akers trade was a good one for the Vikings. Lots of “upside”. I honestly think he was brought in to be the lead back though, and how that affects Mattison we’ll have to wait and see. Gotta hurt him.
Yeah I’m not so sure they’re ready to move Mattison down the depth chart just yet. He had an ugly fumble but that is not usually an issue with him.
How much Mattison has missed assignments I’m not sure but I think Akers being signed is a bit of a wake up moment for the RB room that we will look in other areas if the production isn’t there. So now they have a guy who will get some reps and if he catches fire will get more. The door has been cracked open.
Still wondering who gets cut from the 53 to make room for Akers…
Davenport hopefully. He’s as useless as tits on a boar.
What? Cut our all-star offseason acquisition who is going to be a game wrecker? Say it ain’t so.
Gaskin, zero cap hit and the guy hasn’t even seen the field despite the teams inability to run the ball
Celebrating the Akers trade like:
I don’t love this Cam Akers deal.
The 2026 class looks LEGIT. Gonna be deep and we are going to wish we had that 6th rounder back MARK MY WORDS
Agree. Swapping a 6th for a 7th pick in 2026 will be the next Herschel Walker trade.
YOU GET IT!!!
Of course it’s a great trade.
So much potential.
Cam Akers!!!!????
Really?
Really really.
After saying his coaching staff might be feeding him too much information in attempting to explain his “robotic” feeling on the field through two weeks, Fields held a second media session — this time in the locker room — following the Bears’ midweek practice and took aim at media members covering Chicago’s football team.
“You guys’ jobs are to get clicks. So, it’s like, take my quote out of context and we can just say that,” Fields said. “If you paint the picture on the inside out, y’all are trying to split us up.
“I’m not blaming anything on the coaches, I’m never going to blame anything on the coaches. I’m never going to blame anything on my teammates. Whatever happens in the game, I will take all the blame. I don’t care if it’s a dropped pass, it should have been a (better) pass. Put it on me. Never when you hear anything come out of my mouth to where I will blame it on somebody else in this organization, my teammates, never will you hear that. I just want to clear that up.”
Except you DID blame the coaching Justin.
I know everyone cares. The 6 hour meeting wasn’t too bad. It was off site and at those kinds of meetings you learn a lot of interesting personal things about your team mates. Plus the company bought me lunch so that’s a win.
Second of all. Some of you need some new material. Contact me and I will write you a new script.
C. Go Twins.
Glad to hear you had a good day.
Get any phone numbers?
I have the only phone number I will ever need.
I feel old however. One of the ladies on our team was born the year my wife and I got married.
I know that feeling.
I still remember the first time I met a soldier that had been born after I joined the Army.
Bit of a shock at the time as I was still active duty.
Well, what do you think?

‘We make our whiskey and our own smoke too…. Ain’t too many things these ‘ol boys can’t do…’
Fields said he hopes to alter his approach against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3 so he can play more like himself.
“My goal this week is just to say F it and go out there and play football how I know to play football,” Fields said. “That includes thinking less and just going out there and playing off of instincts rather than so much, say, info in my head, data in my head. Just literally going out there and playing football. Going back to it’s a game and that’s it.
I like that plan and I bet he has a better game playing that way. Good luck to him I don’t like all the criticism he gets although much is warranted.
He’s gonna throw at least 3 picks, if he throws the ball at all.
he’ll run more and throw the passes he knows he can make. I’m rooting for him.
Her sucks and can’t make accurate throws or see blatantly wide open receivers, he can run though.
Yeah that one clip from this past weekend of a clean pocket and the WR at the 5 yrd line right center 30 yrds in front of him and he took a sack lol tells you he is in full brain lock analysis paralysis mode.
This one?
The Bears in general are this good:
Anyone buying one of these shirts?
So… Justin Fields is HIM? OK… I officially think this shirt is ridiculous.
None of him to express his pronouns so all the alphabet crowd knows what to call him
His pronouns are bust/busted BTW
My pronoun is Benevolent Potentate.
These moves should dispell any thought that the Vikings are moving towards full rebuild.
Or:
They are planning on letting Cousins, JJ, Hunter and Smith go, and are going to rebuild around Risner and Akers.
Chargers are 4th in the league in total offense (Passing yards + Rushing yards per game) and average 29.5 points a game.
I know Akiem Hicks is 33… we should have signed him to some sort of deal.
100% unless he has injury issues that they think once he gets in live fire he just comes up lame. That was what was happening to him at the end.
Mattison has 19 carries for 62 yards with no touchdowns this season in two games.
Now the Vikings are bringing in Cam Akers.
Also Risner, who is an upgrade over Ingram
It will be interesting to see when/if Risner plays.
Likely week 4, unless the game this weekend gets out of hand one way or the other
Well the Broncos scheme is pretty different from the Vikings. I’d think he’d need at least a couple weeks to be “game ready”.
His oline coach was with him in Denver, should help with translating verbiage
Week 4’s offense is better than the Chargers. Panthers have a good defense.
Akers only ran for 29 yards on 22 carries this year……not stellar.
He had a good 2022, though, over 700 yards and 7 TDs.
He’s actually doing slightly better than Dalvin’s 17 carries for 40 yards.
So looks like it was the right decision to let Cook go, but probably should have looked outside for a new RB1.
So, do you like this move or not?
Can’t hurt, but what does it say about Mattison and Chandler?
Yeah, I’m with you there.
What I don’t understand is why the FO waited until they were 0-2 to make these moves when they could have done it before the season started
Bingo
They suck?
Or they are not RB1 material.
Also they have Gaskin on the roster and wang on ir, who they gonna cut?
Probably Cousins
LOL
yeah idk, mattison has run tough but he’s not explosive, he’ll get the yards that are there and almost always fall forward for another yard but the run blocking sucks so far
Devil is in the details, as always.
Who is getting cut?
What picks are getting swapped?
Is he any good at picking up the blitz/D lineman that our IOL whiffed on??
Dunno… only positive thing is he’s coming from the Rams, so the offense may be familiar to him. I don’t know if KOC brought McVay’s offense here or one he created on his own though.
He runs a version of mcvays soils be fairly quick to pick up for akers
Ben likes it this much
I think I’ve seen her before, is she an actress?
Very special actress
She have Down’s syndrome or something?
You into that?
I really liked the peanut butter falcon, it was a good movie
Going Down syndrome…….
I’m going to pay $50 in fantasy money tonight for him.
Thanks
You’re welcome
LOL….
So the Mattison hype train has gone off the rails
Apparently
Anyone cover this yet?
Rams sending Akers to us??? Can’t be real.
Pelissero said it. Looks legit.
Yeah, it’s legit. Wonder what Mattison is thinking right now?
I think he should be relieved. He was a good RB2, and a bad RB1.
Hopefully this takes some of the pressure off him.
The running game sucking ass had a lot to do with the play calling and blocking too.
So this isn’t an instant fix.
It will help not playing Philly or TB again. Those 2 have good D lines.
Be nice to get some yards on the ground.
KOC said they identified some things in their film study over the weekend that they will be focusing on in practice to improve the run game. Sounded like bad O-line play mostly.
It would have been funny if KOC blasted the play calling and/or design.
He actually did, a little.
I said before season I wanted to see his production with all of Cook’s snaps. Well, didn’t turn out anywhere near what I thought it would, but I’ll still give him credit, he earned every yard he got.
Nowhere near as fast as Cook, but he carried a pile with him.
The Chargers listed seven players on their injury report.
Linebacker Eric Kendricks, was listed as not practicing because of a hamstring injury. Running back Austin Ekeler (ankle) and edge defender Khalil Mack (not injury related — rest) also did not participate.
Edge defender Joey Bosa (hamstring), linebacker Daiyan Henley (hamstring) and edge defender Chris Rumph II (hamstring) were listed as limited.
Receiver Mike Williams (ankle) fully participated.
Bradbury and Davenport did not practice today with their injuries.
Darrisaw, Hicks, Mettellus, and Nailor were limited in practice,
Davenport has been an amazing bust signing. I hope Kwesi had some playing time language in the contract. Geez
Let’s Z. Smith walk and replaces him with Davenport.
Doesn’t look like the wisest move at the moment.
Ingram was also limited but it had nothing to do with injury
He’s just limited in ability.
Yeah, but he’s our QB.
In the first two games, the Vikings are at 50% on third down percentage which is third best in the league. Out of their 37 first downs, 2 have been from runs, 34 from passes, and 1 from penalty. We are tied with Kansas City for fewest first downs by penalty by the way.
Easily the most likable olineman on the team already
Sounds like he failed to pack his ego when he moved to Minn.
Exactly as I stated with the first post today below….guy is a well spoken fella I think we need some personality along the oline but someone who can back it up unlike blowhard Alex Boone who never did.
Exactly.
How’d the golf go?
It was an amazing day. Course was immaculately mowed to perfection. Greens fast but perfect. Shot a 51/52.
Yeah but did you hit the barn?
So here is a shot of the barn from the tee box of the par 3 2nd hole. The barn you see there is on hole 8 coming back the other way but on the left side of the fairway down the hill you can’t see to the left of the view you’re looking at.
So the barn from the 8th elevated tee box about half as high as what you see here is 290 yards down the hill on the left. I smash a hard straight slight pull dead straight and high down the left side of the fairway, bouncing right at the barn but came up about 25 yards short of the barn so I almost hit it but as we all expected I could not hit the broad side of a barn today.
The par 3 number two you see here, it’s a 165 down hill shot, I hit an easy 6 iron that faded more than I thought and landed in between the two bunkers on the right in the grass in between them. I chipped up and two putted for a bogey.
Nice!
The rounds only cost $60 ea for 18 holes at primetime 9:00 am. Absolutely the deal of the century for a course that nice. Wasn’t busy at all. .
Wednesdays are probably good days to play golf.
Glad you had an amazing day.
Thank you it really was.
He looks a lot like one of my brothers.
LOL…
He will be ripped a new one as soon as he lets up a pressure or hit on Kirk.
Exhibit A your franchise is a shit show, your defensive coordinators home gets raided by the FBI:

Twins Win, Indians Lose.
Magic number down to 1.
Twinkies can clinch tomorrow on their day off if Cleveland loses to Baltimore.
Ain’t won a playoff game in 19 years. I’m excited.
yankees are out of the playoffs, so we might win one!
And may not again this year.
Don’t have to worry about running into the Yankees in the payoffs this year at least.
Go Twins! Let’s finally win a playoff game!
Anyone ever seen the film eraserhead?
i don’t watch snuff films

i’d rather spend the day with sammy sosa
How about just Sammy?

That guy is such a Kirk bootlicker it has to be trolling
He’s taking Spinosa
they’ll be groping each other like Boebert and her new boyfriend as Kirk runs out of the tunnel
So the defense team for the Delphi murders is blaming it on Odin cultists.
That is some incredible muddying of the waters. Sadly, going by message board comments, lots of people fall for it, andall they need is one such person on the jury.
‘If the gloves don’t fit you must acquit!!’
ladies and gentleman i have an urgent and horrifying news story, and i need all of you to stop what you are doing and LISTEN…………..
CALM YOUR TITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Show them in 40 years.
but why?
Nice mounds…
She’s standing in front of.
There’s only 2 really ball’n for the record books.
Neither will do so. Its week two, lets calm our tits.
I like my tits shaken not stirred…
I…wut? lol I like tits to be cupped in my hand.
Side note, always stir a Martini, always.
we would be better off if Kirk threw for 250 a game and we ran the ball for 150.
Boom, nailed it. And also, a young stud rookie QB and throw for 250 a game for millions less.
Tank for Caleb. Think Cards will out tank everyone though.
As it sits now, they would have the 1st and 2nd picks. The Bears would have 3 and 4
If we start 1-5, 1-6, the tank should be on. But they wont. They will be 3-3 by week 6 imo.
Balance on both sides of ball and a serviceable to good qb on a rookie contract. Don’t see it however.
Oh I would love it, dont get me wrong. But what I want the Vikes to do and what I think they will do are two very different things. And after all, I dont know shit.
LOL, what a tool, 2 weeks and already making excuses, throwing people under the bus
Might want to think about a PR coach
It sounds like the coaches want him to run and execute the plays and offense as designed and called, but Fields is accustomed to being a playmaker. There may be some mismatch between who is as an athlete and what his coaches want him to be as a QB.
At a minimum an NFL has to be able to identify open receivers and deliver an accurate throw from the pocket when protected. He can’t.
So in RGIII’s first year, Kyle Shanahan recognized he lacked the training needed to be able go through progressions and manage sophisticated route combinations. He developed an offense with a lot of zero read and one read pass plays to make things easier on Griffin. If the throw wasn’t there Griffin had the option of throwing it away, or breaking contain and try to get to the edge and run for positive yards.
This would be an offense Fields could be successful in.
seemed trouble was RGlll couldn’t progress beyond that.
And later, the Eagles and Giants decided to take away the first and easy reads, and the rest was history.
This is true, but I think Fields is a better runner than Griffin was. Even so, there are throws he can make that don’t require him to process much. I agree he looks like he’s lost in reading the defense and deciding where to go with the ball. Don’t know if that is a forever problem (might be). For now though, the Bears need to give him plays he can execute.
All that said, he may also be immature emotionally and want to be the star playmaker, so he’s resisting the coaching he’s getting. Dunno.
He was the same way in college
I’ll say this. He didn’t do himself any favors with that presser.
Yeah, how do you think to yourself, “you know what is going to be the best for me here? I’m just gonna throw my coaches under the bus and take zero responsibility for having the lowest winning percentage of any QB ever allowed to start 27 games in the history of the league.”
That one stings a little. I haven’t actually looked at Fields play to see how much he contributed to the losses. He’s not putting up a lot of passing production though.
Yeah but the problem is Fields just stands there for 5 seconds and then gets sacked, he doesn’t even have the awareness to throw it away, he’s not a good NFL QB and never will be.
It’s never the quarterbacks fault!
You’d think I’d learn by now.
And that just about says it all.
What what what, Kwerk isnt the most pressured QB in the NFL all game every game? Bet the people that complain about narratives while pushing their own are going to be shocked by this one.
What’s the point – being the best of a bad lot is hardly admirable. Worst, second from the worst, third from the worst, fourth from the worst… whatever. What’s acceptable?
You’re missing the point. The narrative going around is no one is pressured more than Kirk and Kirk takes more hits than anyone else, he’s amazing, love him and only him. When thats never been true and still remains untrue. But I agree with you
Which is what the Vikings have been his entire tenure here. Whats acceptable? Not making excuses would be a start.
well, we’re different. Kirk here, Kirk gone – you need good line play or you ain’t going anyway. And not just pass blocking, you need to run block some too. Play the Cowboys and Niners and you’re one dimentional on offense, and they will eat you alive.
I’m not missing your point. I just believe blocking comes first on offense.
I agree. But im trying to make my point, Kirk isnt the most pressured/hit QB. Thats it. Not digging any further or analyzing anything else.
Hate to break it to you, but Cousins was the most hit QB in the NFL in 2022 and 2020. He’s been top 5 in the league in that stat a lot in his career. You can lie and say that’s not true all you want, but facts are facts.
Again, incorrect, he was tied with sacks with Geno smith in2022 with 46. Thats a fact. He was not the most hit. He was the 3rd most sacked in 2020 behind Matt Ryan (of whom his career is eerily following) and Watson. Thats a fact. You are blurring the stats and calling it facts. Fact.
So you once again eliminate hits and knockdowns from the pressures equation to falsely claim Cousins wasn’t the most hit QB in the league. You are pushing another false narrative with inaccurate data sets.
Fkey this is crazy! Are you saying he was third most in 2020, and second most last year? If so, we are arguing over whether dog shit or cat shit tastes worse here.
it’s week 2, calm your tits!
Okay, well I KNOW Kirk isnt going to break the passing record. Do you think he’s going to be the most hit QB at the end of the season? I dont.
I wouldn’t bet against it…Kirk has shown he can stand in there for 17 games season after season…we shall see if other more hit QB’s can stand in there for a full season.
Im not betting he stays healthy, im betting there will be more pressured and more hit QBs by the end of the season.
Maybe, but based on five years of history with the Vikings, not many more will be hit more than Cousins. He’s already leading the league in knockdowns this year.
this is a bit of a strange argument to me. Most hit, next most hit ,etc. – is not a good thing for any football team at any level. You never want your QB gettin smarked around It’s bad football.
You put Kirk,JJ et all behind that Dallas offensive line and let’s see what team can stop us from scoring.
Were not arguing that, im making a point the NLNV makes wild posts and speaks in absolutes when more often than not he is incorrect and basing things off his emotional attachment to #8.
Laughing… my data is researched and I provide valid stats.
But it’s a minuta argument either way. He gets hit too much and that’s not good. Doesn’t really matter if it’s the most or not, if it’s still too much
KFEY has issues with me personally and is attacking me… once again. I am not very concerned with his views or perspectives though.
*small* *sample* *size*. You are already changing your word usage from is/no one to not many more. He will not be the most hit QB at the end of the season. May you want to wager?
How about his entire starting career? He’s been one of the most hit QB’s in the league every single year.
No doubt, have to respect that, gets up under center game after game.
Cousins is already the most hit QB in the league this year.
Cousins has been sacked 4 times and knocked down 16 times in two games. Jones has been sacked 10 times and knocked down 7 times.
So the narrative that Jones is the most pressured QB in the league here is debatable.
Its not debatable. This is about pressure rate, not sack/hit rate. If you want to talk about that its a different talk. Just say for now, as of this date, your narrative is wrong. Great, lets move on.
Laughing… sacks and hits are the pressure rate.
Then he would be the most pressured…and he’s not. You can just say lol btw.
He actually IS the most pressured QB this season to date based on data.
(Not attacking you NVF, just throwing 2cents in here and this seemed like a logical place)
There’s a ton of difference in the words “hit/sacked” and “pressured”
A QB can be pressured without being hit or sacked, so interchanging the terms to draw a correlation is false.
To make a statement about who is the most “pressured” QB in the league, we need the statistics of how many dropbacks the throw was rushed, or the QB was flushed out of the pocket, and I don’t see any categories like that. Anyone?
The data provided shows Cousins was hit and/or sacked 20 times in 88 pass attempts, or 23% of pass attempts. Jones 17 in 96 attempts, or 18% of attempts.
To further muddy the waters, we have to know if a sack is counted as a pass attempt. Sure, he dropped back and intended to throw it, but he didn’t, so one could argue that it wasn’t a pass attempt, so those numbers are skewed even more.
Plain and simple, Cousins has been hit/sacked (concrete data) WAY TOO MUCH.
Appreciate this well presented view. The term “pressure rate” refers to the number of times the QB is hit or sacked on a pass attempt. There is a third data point called “hurries” and also another data point for times blitzed, but the comment I initially made was that Cousins since he became a starter is amongst the most “hit” QB’s in the league.
Last year, and in 2020 he was the most hit QB in the league.
He has been in the top 5 of this statistic almost all of his starting seasons.
Today there was a comment that said Jones was the most pressured QB in the league. I presented the data that showed he wasn’t the most hit, so that label was debatable.
KFEY has issues with me and has called me a liar and insisted I make stats up to support “wild” claims. That is very personally insulting of course, but in these matters you just have to consider the source.
Ain’t any way kirk will get 6000 yards. But JJ may get 2000 Would still like to see us start running the ball with some success.
Id rather the Vikes be good and play well against play off caliber teams than any one player break a personal record. Thats just me. But if we are sucking, JJ chasing 2000 might be the only reason to watch come like, week 8
Me too – beat good teams. If we block just a little better, we might be able to do that and JJ gets a record too.
So let’s examine this logically. What on the team needs to be better in order for the Vikings to “beat good teams”? Where are the Vikings deficient?
Well, I think this.
Put Kirk,JJ, Hock and the rest of our skill guys behind the Cowboys offensive line, and we’ll score a ton on the 49ers.
Scoring a lot of points is always going to be a key, but let’s face it, the offense already has shown it can score points. Is THAT the “weakness” the Vikings need to address to win games against “good” teams?
If you were to say why do we lose games, would you say the passing game is our weakness?
Normally no, but would feel better if we can stop Micah and Bose. that’s the test, and then some run defense.
I’ll grant our O-line is definitely a weakness (a big weakness) but of the various units the Vikings field, the offense isn’t horrible. They can score points.
Quarterback elusiveness.
OK Bow… I’ll play your silly game. How will that stop the other team from scoring?
The Vikings would score so many points the other team would be forced to throw the ball every down allowing Flores to tee off and the defense to rack up sacks and interceptions.
Yeah… right. So the Vikings problem is the offense. Got it. I accept your position.
Oh, and the defense would be able to hold the other team to less points if the offense would stop turning the ball over 4 times a game or going 3 and out. I don’t care how talented your defense is, if they have to be on the field for 3/4 of the game because the offense isn’t doing anything productive, they are going to give up points.
Our defense allows 9 minute drives and lots of points… yes if the offense goes three and out a lot, that puts pressure on them. But when you allow a team to just run all over you, then you’re the problem.
They weren’t giving up long drives early in the Philly game. Only when the offense continued to shart down their collective legs did the defense start to lose gas, expectedly so. Put Mahomes on this team with zero other changes and they are a SB contender. Kirk is good, but good is the enemy of great. I’m ready for great.
I read this and it took my breath away. Put Mahomes on the team …. I agree.
Mahomes, the greatest QB on the planet and perhaps the greatest ever.
You’re right. He is the only great QB to ever exist in the past and will be the only great one in the future so settling for good enough is the best we can hope for.
Not my point at all. Kirk is certainly good, not great.
But Mahomes wold help just about any team in the NFL
And a lot of great QB’s have existed And more will come along.
Where did the settling for good enough come from?
There are certain people who think that even considering moving on from Cousins or bringing in a potential replacement for a QB nearing the end of his career is idiotic.
well, that wasn’t my point. I was talking about blocking.
Nothing in the post I replied to said anything about blocking. It was about Mahomes and trying to get a great one. Take a chance. When they had Kirk under contract they should have been drafting QBs to sit behind him and see if they are the future. 5th round QBs from TCU aren’t that. Hooker would have been the perfect opportunity or Skolly’s mayo drinker for that matter.
Not at all. That decision has already been made by KAM, and it is wholly understandable.
Mahomes could only produce 9 points in a Super Bowl when his O-line was decimated.
This a lie. They started the 3rd quarter with a 9 minute TD drive. They had all halftime to rest up before that drive, so they weren’t exhausted. They were just bad.
False. The Vikings offense started the 3rd quarter by fumbling the ball on the second play, giving the Eagles the ball on the MN 18. 3 plays and the Eagles scored. The offense then kept the ball for 4 plays and a total of 1 minute, 24 seconds before punting after gaining a total of -5 yards. The 9 minute drive did not come until the 4th quarter after the Vikings offense ran a total of 13 plays for 71 yards and held the ball for under 5 minutes total in the 3rd quarter according to NFL.com. There does seem to be about 5 minutes missing from the play by play though. Not sure what is going on there.
Never mind, the missing 5 minutes is the first 5 minutes of the 9 minute drive that went into the 4th quarter (and ended in a Philly punt).
Hey Bow, I was mis-thinking… it was the Buc’s game where we came out in the third quarter and gave up the 9 minute TD drive. Duh.
Apologies.
Keep in mind, under Zimmer, we played that “prevent offense to protect the defense” scheme and Zimmer got fired for not winning.
At about 2:30, proof Kirk encourages players to fight for the goal line, contrary to coaching and therefor the JJ fumble is Kirk’s fault.

Dalvin sucks.
Cut him.
Saw some national dumbass saying this is the reason the Vikings can’t run the ball this year…they don’t have Dalvin Cook. Cook sucks.
Nah, it’s Kirk’s fault. He isn’t declaring the blocking and Mike properly pre-snap.
