- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
Weekend thread
Uncle Fester is out on the golf course…
Read this in article, and it pretty well sums the Kirk Cousins discussion up:
If the Vikings decide not to sign Cousins because of the combination of his age, price and recent injury history, that decision will come with a significant cost.
Minnesota will need to draft a QB in April — for whom the team may need to trade up, sacrificing significant assets in the process — sign some other pricey veteran in free agency who doesn’t have the history or chemistry Cousins does inside the locker room, or gamble on either Jaren Hall or Nick Mullens as the starter in 2024.
Beyond those scenarios, however, it will cost the Vikings a $28.5 million dead cap hit if Cousins’ contract voids in March. Signing the QB to a new deal, even an expensive one, makes some sense because of that. Minnesota would still eventually have to negotiate that money into the salary cap at some point in the future, however re-signing Cousins is the team’s best path to remaining competitive in the short-term.
“Sign Cousins, and you might be risking a more malleable future with a franchise-defining upside,” Alec Lewis of The Athletic wrote on Thursday, January 25. “Opt to go the other route, and you might be risking years of inconsistency only to end up feeling that all you need to get over the hump is a quarterback like Kirk Cousins.”
This is good stuff and reasonable.
As I said during the week, if I was GM, I couldn’t make this decision without a thorough review of where we’re at – principally if all had stayed healthy. could we have beaten Detroit for the division. And for this I don’t mean does Detroit have more talent on the roster, could we have won the division.
What the author fails to realize is that the Vikings are inconsistent WITH Kirk as the QB. Playoffs every other year defines inconsistent.
No matter what happens, because of Kirks salary, the Vikings will have a year of Kirks salary on the books for a year after he is gone. Whether it’s this year, or 2 to 3 years down the road.
Getting over the hump was the exact reason why Cousins was signed in 2018.
“A QB away from a super bowl” It didn’t work.
Here we are discussing the same thing 6 years later.
don’t really care about the stay/go stuff – but, a false presumption will almost lead to a bad outcome.
I don’t think the author fails to realize anything here. It is accurate to say the Vikings already have one of the best QB’s in the league, so changing horses now, is a risk. The chances of replacing him with a QB that would achieve his level of play anytime soon, are slim to none. So, letting Cousins walk, almost guarantees failure in the near term.
And six years later, the only piece of the team that has been good every single year is Cousins.
What does “getting over the hump” mean?
Vikings haven’t even made the plastics every other year with cousins
Poor Kirk was responsible for making the plastics as well? Dude really had a lot on his plate, it seems.
LOL, playoffs
😉
Correct. Being labeled a hater here, I wanted to at least give a general statement of fact that couldn’t be considered hatin.
Is it Tuesday again?
Seems like it is the 6th Tuesday this week.
Groundhog day, kinda
I assume Groundhog can be yummy if prepared properly.
Is GroundHOG bacon a thing?
That position is what led the Vikings to sign cousins in the first place and it hasn’t worked, I’m not confident the current GM can put enough elite players around cousins to be successful
Kirk Cousins’ unexpected appearance gains students extra credit – ESPN
Kirk Cousins is a good man.
He is. I saw the article where he went to some event the day after he got out of the hospital for his Achilles surgery. He had committed to be there, and he showed up on his scooter thing. One of the things I admire about Cousins.
We all agree on that
No weekend thread?
I guess Brad, Skolly and Mick have given up on posting threads? Seems like Ben is the only one doing it anymore.

Good morning, SKOL!

I guess over the next 120 days we’ll see where KAM is going in building a Championship team.
Like my mother always told me… “make good choices” (I often didn’t though… grin).
Yep, I’m pulling for KAM. Let’s build a winner!
I certainly hope KAM can (and will) do it. Kinda doubt he has the chops though. Just my opinion.
This works for me…
On Wednesday, Ohio Republicans voted to override Gov. Mike DeWine’s (R) veto on House Bill 68, marking a significant milestone in the state’s legislative history. This bill, comprising the “Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act” and the “Save Women’s Sports Act,” effectively bans transgender procedures on minors and prohibits males from competing in female sports. Following the House’s lead, the Ohio state Senate voted in favor of this override, affirming a commitment to what many conservatives see as common-sense protections for children and the integrity of women’s sports.
DeWine claimed that his opposition to the bill was rooted in his belief that it infringed on parental rights and could jeopardize lives. He emphasized the importance of parental involvement in these sensitive medical decisions, asserting that “the government knows better what is medically best for a child than the two people who love that child the most, the parents.” However, the bill’s proponents argue that such irreversible medical procedures should not be in the hands of minors, who are almost always unable to fully comprehend the long-term consequences of their decisions.
common sense
A good override. Well done, Ohio.
A good and sane decision.
Finally, a R state legislature grew a spine.
Found this an interesting read on how corporations bowing to wokeness are losing market share in doing so.
https://townhall.com/columnists/bradslager/2023/04/20/a-lesson-in-corporate-wokeness-the-disaster-after-making-aunt-jemima-a-pariah-n2622208
It appears even woksters understand substance over form.
My son grew up in a more liberal time than I did, of course, and he sees things a little differently than I do on the whole. We talk about things, because he is seeing the decline in our country just as most of the rest of us have, and he doesn’t like it. Our talks are always civil. He told me yesterday that he’s starting to see my point on a lot of things. He was a huge Bernie Sanders supporter, for instance. He has seen the light on that though, as he can now see Socialism does mean people are equally rich, it means people are equally poor, and downtrodden, and only the political elites benefit.
He told me that “all wokeness is not bad, dad” and I told him, “the problem with wokeness is, it’s a bunch of activists lambasting ordinary people for not being as virtuous as they are. It’s insulting in the extreme, and has no real value in the end.”
He paused and said “so, we’re not getting better by being woke, we’re just creating more division than ever?” And I answered in the affirmative.
I have kids too and they are of course more ‘liberal’ than me. But I’m noticing a change. They now have houses, buy groceries and pay taxes and all that comes with being an adult. Starting to notice change in opinions – reality is a great. motivator.
If you are a conservative when you are young you have no balls.
If you are a liberal when you get older you have no brains.
My father says this often….
Well said by your father…
He has several:
’ain’t smart enough to poor piss out of a boot….’
’as useless as goose shit on a pump handle…’
’I’m happier than a puppy with two peters….’
’I can eyeball a highball from outer space with my glasses cracked….’
‘as useless as tits on a bull’
‘wouldn’t give a nickel to see a piss ant eat a bale of hay.’
there’s a reason Mozart’s music is still listened to – it stands the test of time, as do sound basic principals of life.
Let’s hope they all start coming around. My kids (31 and 38) have become more and more conservative as they have now gotten into adulthood, working, taxes, etc…
Good Saturday morning to all. I see Kathy visited last night, sorry I missed her.
My wife is going to do two cycling classes today (no idea why). I’ll do the normal rounds in the morning, then we’re headed to a late lunch and shopping. Her birthday is the first of February. Guess she’ll be dropping hints on what she wants.
No worries. I know that most folks are only here during the day.
Hock tore a ACL and MCL and i just read he hasn’t had surgery yet. WTF is that?
Some players insist they only get injury treatment on “company time”. The offseason is not company time.
Not saying this is the case, but have heard it occurs.
Don’t know if true, but read the swelling hasn’t gone down enough for surgery.

Tom Pelissero is reporting Cousins is ahead of schedule in his recovery from Achilles surgery and will be throwing in the next month or so.
Before the season started, my wife asked me who I thought would be in the Super Bowl this year. I told her the 49ers and the Ravens. I’m about to find out if my prophecy was accurate.
I’m excited about the games. Cheering for Ravens and Lions. I’ll be disappointed if both lose, but could live with 49ers and Ravens. Really hoping the Chiefs lose though, sick of them.
Little current event – check out the money Trump has to pay that women in NY. What a judicial we have. Like $83 million.
The one he never met before who’s only ‘evidence’ was two friends that she had back comeback in the early 1990s.
‘Lady’ didn’t even have an exact date so Trump couldn’t prove he was somewhere else.
And he dared to say he didn’t do it and she was lying – 83 mil.
Now in NY, you can go in the subway rob and mall the hell out of a women, and be out in the afternoon to do it again.
Man, what a f’d up mess!
And we’re going to end up with no one to vote for.
Nothing but smooth sailing here out JR.
Insane.
I could quickly and effectively clear up the border issues. Make it the policy of the U.S. that all immigrants coming to the border, can only enter the country if there is someone there to pick them up, bring them home, and take care of them until such time as they have become legal citizens and can take care of themselves. This includes, housing, clothing, sustenance, education, and medical expenses.
All the people clamoring for open borders can come down and pick up as many immigrants as they want.
That person must also be picked up at official ports of entry with documentation and all land between ports of entry will have a wall, razor wire and 100 yards of land mines.
That is exactly the statement I had to swear to when I became a permanent resident, that I had a domicile, a means of support, etc…
Funny how many people equate legal immigration as equivalent to illegal immigration. They are nowhere near the same entity.
I give zero shits about all these illegals.
More difficult to get into Canada to do some GD fishing than crossing southern border.
I don’t know if this is true, but heard to go to Canada and apply for citizenship you had to prove you had 500 grand so you could take care of yourself and not be a burden.
I just need a good word from MT.
Need to stop trying to smuggle cigs and booze in, chief.
Figured harmless, i mean fentanyl is ok down south. Funny, wardens up in Canada like to bust you for alcohol in boat. We’d hide some on a island. One of our guys got busted/fined for non-alcoholic beer as it does contain a small amount.
Nah, they’re pretty liberal. I’m already one so that shows how low their standards are. Switzerland is pretty tough, though.
that actually makes a lot of sense.
Yeah, the Dem’s are fine with higher taxes… so I say, tax Dem’s 10% more and Republicans 10% less.
Send them to affluent neighborhoods in liberal states. Some coucilman from Illinois suggested people open up their homes. You f&*king serious?
They are already doing that.
The response?
”Texas is evil for sending them to our sanctuary city”
I read that article. Councilman is a conserve and wanted to point out the hypocrisy of the woke libtards.
He doesn’t expect anyone to ‘sign up’ but he could then point out about how there should be consequences for those voting for Brandon and his border policy.
Funny how we can spend billions on a border 5,000 miles away and ignore ours.
This probably would have good to post before the summary. A couple of years ago I was at an auction and picked up an old suitcase full of sheet music from the early 1900s. I have had some luck selling sheet music, probably mostly to collectors or those seeking nostalgia. I ran across one today that may get me in trouble if I try to sell it. It was an old piece from 1903 that was used as advertising for a Canadian company that sold pianos and organs. The name of the music is Cotton Coon’s Two Step. And yes, the front cover has a drawing of people that have a lot of melanin. Canadians really are racist.
I went to the grocery store today, and wanted to get some frozen pancakes for the days when I don’t want disturb the wife to make me breakfast. I used to buy Aunt Jemima pancakes. Apparently, they are no longer sold.
Growing up and going to HS in Santa Barbara Sambos restaurant was everyones favorite hangout. It was named after the two owners ‘SAM Battistone and Newell BOhoentt.
In 1982 it became considered too Racist to continue so they sold off their locations to Denny’s and Bakers Square.
“Sambo’s was an American restaurant chain, started in 1957 by Sam Battistone Sr. and Newell Bohnett in Santa Barbara, California”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sambo%27s
I loved going to Sambo’s. Of course, I was a kid and going out to eat was a real treat. I’m sure the food was just as average as Denny’s and Bakers Square, but I didn’t notice at the time.
The HQ was on upper State St pretty close to my HS and had a restaurant as well. I couldn’t afford to go after school daily like my classmates but after a weigh in and before the wrestling matches started.
Oh yeah, fill up on some Sambos Breakfast Platters.
How did you become a Vikings fan growing up in Santa Barbara?
My Older Brother was a Rams Fan and wouldn’t ‘allow’ me to root for His Team. When the Vikings beat his Rams in early Dec 1969 I picked them to be ‘my team’.
When they beat them again in the playoff I was hooked for life as I had bet Big Brother and got the win.
And so began your life of misery.
I picked all the Minnesota Teams, when asked about Basketball I was told they didn’t have a team, the Lakers had moved to LA.
So by then I able to stand up to ‘Big Brother’ and say well they are ‘My Team’ then.
So I have had ’87 and ’91 plus a few Laker Championships to tide me over while waiting on the Vikings.
#threepeat
Never knew they made them. Like pancakes but batter is work. Lean on french toast mostly.
Can confirm.
I’m going to try to sell it as an historical piece. Hopefully I don’t get banned. I won’t try to sell it on Amazon or eBay. Those companies like to ban stuff. “We will think for you and tell you what you should know or not know. We are your protector.”
Shame – used to like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn

Since 2000, the Vikings are 2-20 (.091) against teams with winning records in road primetime games. This ranks second worst in the NFL, only topped (in a bad way) by the Bengals.
Of course, most teams struggle against good ones on the road in primetime, but whenever the time comes that the Vikings get closer to .500 via this metric — is when I believe you’ll know they’ve turned the corner into a certifiable contender.
Vikings Win %,
NFL Ranking,
Since 2000:
Overall = 12th
vs. Winning Teams on Road at Night = 31st
For curious minds, these were the only two wins of 22:
2010 | Week 16 = def PHI, 24-14
2015 | Week 17 = def GB, 20-13
Yep – go back and watch 2020 game at Seattle. And we totally F’d up the last 1.51 and gave the game away.
Good teams don’t do that.
Weren’t we stonewalled on a 4th and short that would’ve put the game away? Mattison?
Yeah, here is an aerial view of it
i remember when this happened.
but don’t remember, did he try to either cut back in between 75 and falling 73, or did he try to jam in between 75 and 30
He jusr ran right in between 75 and 30
“vision”
Oh, the memories…
And even then, still lead by four. But of course our prevent defense gave up two forth and 10 conversations.
Oh, and that stuff was on their 9 yard line. Believe we had marched like 80 yards and ate all the time up.
Look… we lost the game because of the QB… OK? Wins and losses are QB stat. Don’t forget.
If you do forget though, there are a couple folks here, I can refer you to, to remind you.
I’m learning to trust my own judgement on such things.
Laughing
McCardell landed an OC gig.
Whew, thought we lost him there for a minute.
You got me, LOL!
Health Update, after seeing the Doc this week with consistent BP in the 130s over 80ish (give our take a couple points) he is satisfied and doesn’t want to see me again for 6 months and if I continue my weight loss and health hoping to come off of some of the meds. Yesterday ran for 2 miles for the first time in my life. Just over 19 minutes to do it. Not bad at 265 lbs lol. Running seems to be the only thing that actually gets my heart rate up into a good spot to give it a workout. Anyone else have this problem? I have a very strong heart and from the years of football it was all sprint work. I had a doctor one time go, man I love the sound of an athlete’s heart when I was in college lol. But doing my isometric yoga with blood flow resistance bands, it’s hard work, I’m sweating, I’m shaking, but my heart rate in 50-60 minutes of that MAYBE gets into the 120s for a few minutes. It’s still important to do, sheds a lot of calories, low impact, really helps flexibility. Doing the assault bike, again sweating, difficult, legs and arms burning, heart only gets up into the 100s, 110s barely. Running get up into the 120s in about 3-4 minutes maxing out in the 140s, maybe 150 a time or too. Wish I had a dojo that did Jujitsu around me, I am sure when I was doing that my heart rate got up! lol.
Clearly you’re making immense progress. Great stuff here. Being married to a former competitive bodybuilder (NOT a healthy sport) and now just a fitness nut, it takes tremendous dedication and discipline to stick to a regimen and keep losing weight. She has days where she’s putting on her workout togs and saying over and over, “I really don’t want to do this today”. Then she gets in her car and off she goes.
Really impressed with you Edge.
As to getting your heart rate up, stationary cycling can work, and not put as much stress on your tendons and joints.
Thanks man appreciate it. Sticking to the grind is tough but I really enjoy the consistency if I’m being honest but yeas some mornings I am just tired and sore and don’t want to do shit but always glad when I do it. I too thought the stationary cycling was doing it but once I got that HRM I learned it wasn’t up where it should be to give my a heart a good workout.
what heart rate zone are you looking to work out. Or, are you trying to lose weight, burn fat etc?
Great progress so far.
I am OK with either lol. But at this juncture I am only getting it into the fat burn zone. 138 to 148 is optimal for me but it’s hard as shit for me to get it up that high. In fact running and elliptical (I think, it’s been a while since doing that) seems to be the only things working to get it there. Granted when 30 lbs heavier the DDPY got me into the 120s 130s but not any more. Well it’ll get into the 120s but barely and for a very short period of time. My heart rate drops back down very very quickly.
what’s the formula. 220 – age x .75 is that right for you?
And times matter here – 20 minutes is different than 30 and then 40.
I was a runner, loved it – before knee replacement.
A once in a while workout I loved. Run a 100 yards pretty fast (like 95%). then walk fast for a 100 – then repeat, and repeat. Go as many miles as you like. Make it harder (don’t know your strength), try this with a 3 lb weight in each hand.
This burns a lot of calories and is really good for your heart with the up and down training – fast and slow.
Just an idea.
Interesting, this is good stuff. I don’t know the formula. I just use an app where I type my age in lol. I should do more sprint work my whole goal was to get away from that when I started because I was good with sprint work after sprint work was all I ever did for football training. I am much stronger and explosive than my endurance. Endurance has always been an issue. I am a little scared to sprint that much, afraid of pulling something haha. Trying to be as non-pounding on my joints as possible especially because my weight is still pretty high.
I actually heard this from a knee surgeon (had a torn me niscus). Claimed jogging will destroy your joints. when you sprint, you use muscles differently that protect knee some.
Sort of man was meant to sprint, for a while, away from the tiger, and then walk. Was not meant to run a marathon.
He gave me this sprint/walk thing to protect my knee. Like a fool, kept running but did enjoy this sometime.
Oh, a killer workout. 50 pushups, 10 pullups, farmers carry, sprint on treadmill 60 seconds then repeat as fast as you can go. This will get and keep your heart up, and blast calories.
That sounds horrible. I’ll stick to 16oz curls.
After the workout – but 12 oz ers.
I’m waiting for you and NLV to go down to Texas and clean this mess up.
I’ll bring the beer and smoked pork down as moral support.
If I go it will be in secret. Cash only for all expenses on the way down. Don’t ask any questions if I tell you guys I’m going elk hunting at an odd time of year.
When’s Pronghorn season start down there? Russian Boars and Feral Hogs are year round…..
No idea, but I am gonna try and go elk hunting this weekend. I want to do one of the hog hunts with thermal optics down there sometime. Probably just buy a rifle of my own and thermal gear and go shoot coyotes.
I’ve done a lot of walking the last few years. It’s proven very effective. I think I read (or was told) that for every pound you lose, it takes 4lbs of pressure off your knees/lower extremities. I don’t jog and I don’t run – I often tell people that if they see me running, they should also be running – but I walk a lot and 2/3 days a week I’ll listen to podcasts in my basement while on an old school exercise bike. Thinking of getting a row machine.
Just admit it, you love and want to impress PJ
Ha!
Believe that is a fact about lb’s and pressure on knee.
Now a days I walk a lot (relative I guess). but try to do four i mile walks a day. It’s enjoyable.
I have a local rec center 4 blocks from me – I often take Goose to the run early in the morning and then go there or I’ll go there first and take him to get a pup cup at the coffee shop. 15 laps around the walking track is a mile and I’ll throw on headphones and walk 45 laps until it’s over. Then walk home. I’m usually at Home Depot/Lowe’s/Costco once a day and make a point to park near the end of the lot and walk around the store quite a bit – I did none of this stuff 3 years ago – should’ve been doing it all along.
congratulations – great stuff.
Interesting that makes sense, all the long distance folks all have their knees replaced… but I enjoy it! lol. I’ve never been able to do a pull up ever. I could squat well over 500, bench almost 400, did 225 22 times, 33ish inch vertical, 4.9 40 yard dash all at 285 lbs… never a pull up haha.
Skip it then. bench – 10 reps. got to lat pull down machine and do 10 reps. farmers csrry 100 in each hand up and down gym. Teadmill 60 seconds fast and then redo. Faster you go through this, faster heart beat and calorie burn.
I love running too – understand.
I have always read the opposite, that bipedal locomotion arose as a low energy way of crossing ground. In other words, a fit (wo)man could eventually run down an ungulate like a buffalo or deer as they would run to exhaustion long before a human would.
I have never tested the theory.
As a jogger with a lot of miles, it does wear on the knee cartlege.
Now, the sprinting is only for very short distances.
Supposedly, when sprinting you are more up on the balls of your feet with less heel pounding like jogging.
either way, moderation is usually best.
Well done. 265 is my target weight for the next year. Endgame is 240.
When I was 330 being in the 260s was my goal. But now I want to get into the 250s and then obviously 240s. I’ll never be little or anything like that. I’m built big but got to be healthy.
Same. I’ve always been big – it’s not a requisite to be morbidly obese. I feel like I’ve added years to my life – but always more work to do.
We can do this mang!
I haven’t run two miles since I left the military in 2007, I might die if tried at this point. Good you’re making progress
Puker land news…
Hire Zimmer, more fun.
True.
Any Joe Buck fans around here? LOL

Never saw anyone post anything positive about him here.
Jrob – In regards to your golf comment about Irons from yesterday. I find between this and closing my club face with my driver to be the most difficult things for me to grasp in my golf game. I dont golf nearly as much as I should to be improving, which is on me but I still try to focus on these things when im out. I had my iron swing DOWN for one summer, didnt golf again until the summer after, lost it all. Last fall I golfed for one last time in early October and I hit my irons the best I had in literal years. I greened a shot with my 9 iron from maybe 90 or 100 yards out (I usually club up because of my poor contact) and it was pure as ever, no divot, skied, dropped it 5 ft from the pin like it fell out of the sky. Felt so good. And I two putted lol
No matter what folks say golf is a hard game and does take some practice. Playing once a year is very, very difficult.
That said, modern instruction makes the game far to difficult for most am’s. Too many things to think about – shift your weight, left arm straight, head down etc.
Yet, if I told you to pick up an ax and hit a log – you’d do it well without all that crap.
Divots – don’t worry about it. The divot should happen as a ‘result’ of good swing. Don’t try to make it happen.
Last thought. My son is a Plus 5 handicapper. Only think I told him – grip the club and swing it back over right shoulder, and then swing it forward brushing the grass and put club over left shoulder. Everything else will happen naturally, just let it.
Good luck.
Solid advice. Keep it simple. Thanks
Hey at least its shorter than MTs posts!
Yeah but it’s golf. Total snooze-fest! lol.
Well I was talking about ME actually playing golf. Not ME, watching hockey on TV. Which is more boring imo. Keep in mind I enjoy hockey live, but watching it on TV is about as bad as it gets. Nothing happens, constant movement for no pay off.
Have a great weekend folks! I am heading out of town. Doubt any news will break this weekend.
Stay safe… have fun!
Are you getting deployed to Texas yet?
Not in my current lane. My wife is from Harlingen Texas, went to Texas A&M, and got her Masters from Texas though. Her father was of Mexican descent, and her mother’s family was from Spain.
I don’t like how the Dem’s have screwed up our border policy enforcement and nor does my wife.
Thought maybe they’d send you over there to help take down the razor wires and play welcome party for all the “honest immigrants” breaking the law as their first act in the US since evil Texas is not listening to Joe.
Yeah, I loved it when they started sending the immigrants to all the Blue cities and telling them “here ya go!” Then all those liberal hypocrites started screaming bloody murder. Funny how when it’s someone else’s mess to clean up, you’re very judgemental. Then when it hits your doorstep, you change your tune, but quick!
Need a tent city at his beach house.
Saw a clip today:
2007 Sen. Biden asked if he’d allow sanctuary cities to exist, answer. No. He stated said cities turn into dumps cuz Fed government doesn’t enforce the law.
2020 Biden: Illegals make cities safer.
Yeah… this is where the idealistic liberal diatribe rubs me the wrong way…
I can question peoples thoughts and words but this is on video. Authentic.
You should take your subaru, that way when it inevitably breaks down you have an excuse to take a little more time off
Drive safe, looks like sunny and 40s until next weekend when winter returns to Gods country
Drive Fast ! Take Chances !
YOURE NOT BRAD!
I am not.
Hope GF is ok. He’s been gone a long time.
Almost a month now, and he wasn’t posting much/often even before that.
Said he was very busy but not to say hi is peculiar.
There’s something said in society that’s been around awhile and even some say hear WRT football.
‘Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome is insanity.’
Pretty sure all have heard it. I submit it’s flawed.
I. think rather – ‘Doing the EXACT same thing in the SAME fashion and expecting a different outcome’ is much more correct.
Sometimes just a small ingrediant change, or a small process adjustment, will yield very different outcomes – the difference between success and failure.
Now, more coffee.
I learned this in a story from a teacher I had in high school before I had ever head that quote about insanity. This teacher went to a retirement party and the old guy retiring was saying how kids have changed and they are the issue because he said he taught the same way for 30 or whatever years, didn’t change anything and it seemed every year the kids got worse and learned less. That teacher said he didn’t have the heart to tell him that the fact he never changed was the issue… not the kids.
Agreed, having the same sentiment about this oft quoted morsel of “wisdom”.
Lol at that picture of Zim, was not expecting to see that this morning, 10/10 Ben
Its a classic
thank you for the video up top.
i’m a sucker for my chemical romance.
i remember going to the warped tour back in the day and i got one of their shirts, and a few weeks later wore it around and my mom saw me and was heart broken “freeze, do you even know what having a romance with chemicals means?!?!?”
oh momma freeze i love you
LOL mommadumdum
How do you move from doormat at 13-15-1 to in the playoff hunt at 28-15-1. Just win, baby…FIFTEEN in a ROW!
Go Oilers Go!
it’s an amazing run, really
It’s gonna be hard when they eventually string together a couple of losses in a row.
2 losses in a row and people will be calling for the coaches head haha
Just wait until MLB season, once you guys start slobbering over the Twins I’ve got some gifs in reserve.
too bad the twins are gonna suck this year….
they lost 2 starting pitchers (one was a cy young candidate) and their front office has already publicly come out and said they will be spending LESS money this year….
thanks guys.
Maybe you should contact the front office and tell them that you will be spending less money this year also.
Im contacting the Government and letting them know im giving them less money as well. Personal policy.
Yeah, that was based on the TV revenue not coming in.
Bahaha, touche
This is one impressive run, Oilers are kicking ass.
So it looks like no one wants to move up to pick the QB of the future which means we all are fine with re-signing Cousins…
Works for me.
Yeah, I’ve witnessed this leap of faith in the past, and watched it destroy a team.
I’ve watched KC win a couple SBs after doing it to. And I mean the winners KC, not Kirk.
Pretty hard to confuse Kirk Cousins and winning. Dont usually pair. Oops, its Friday.
Hmmm… well, hindsight is 20-20. That’s what makes it easy to see how genius it was for the Chiefs to trade up and select Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft. You may not know Mahomes actually cheated though, to impress Andy Reid on his pre-draft visit.
The move itself was actually good for both the Bills and the Chiefs. The Chiefs were already on the rise when they traded up to pick Mahomes, while the Bills were mired in mediocrity. Thanks to that move, both teams now reside among the AFC’s best.
The Chiefs gave up a third in the 2017 draft, and a first in the 2018 draft to move from 27th to 10th to select Mahomes. That’s not a lot of real estate. You sort of missed wide right on your comparison there. Selling the farm for a player is one thing, making a sound move is quite another.
You also might note, the quarterbacks available in the 2017 draft all had some enticing traits, but none were viewed as a sure thing. Trubisky went second overall to the Chicago Bears. Mahomes went 10th to the Chiefs, and Deshaun Watson went to the Texans two picks later. Deshone Kizer from Notre Dame was the only other quarterback taken in the first two rounds.
It wasn’t the lock Andy Reid thought it was though, because Matt Nagy had prepped Mahomes the day before his interview, with all the plays and questions Reid was going to discuss with him. Mahomes studied everything all night, and the next day Reid was blown away with his level of knowledge.
Don’t draft a QB because some teams have failed at it. You know what, I’ve seen more teams fail by keeping or bringing in overpaid old vets. So I guess the only answer is to not have a QB. Wildcat all day.
No one said that, least of all me. I don’t buy into folly though. You should not encourage others to do so either. Throw away your life savings on a chance investment? No, not prudent. Find the right investment with a good chance of success? Sounds good, let’s see if we can work something out.
that’s an interesting story about Naggy and the prep work.
Seem you’re OK with ‘reasonable” trade up as appropriate?
I’m a prudent and pragmatic man as a general rule, but I also have a part of me that believes “Audentes Fortuna Iuvat”. Thus, being too risk averse is counter to advancing.
There is a time and a place for all things.
Was passing along a layup for you – been a long week.
I’m reminded that Lee was a brilliant and bold general and for that won many battles. Yet, but was too bold but once, and it cost him a war.
Yep. Lee is one of my favorite Generals of all time. Patton as well.
Grab em by the nose and kick em in the ass!
Did you know the Chinese named a big SUV they developed the G-Patton after him?
Nope… interesting.
Seems a lot of alternatives.
Sign Cousins and draft with a pick you have.
Don’t sign Cousins and still draft a QB with pick.
And there’s a host of other choices.
Flacco may be available…
None of those options make sense to me except
I hadn’t had much coffee – still haven’t – but I’m Ok drafting a QB and rolling with Mullens.
NOPE! EVERYTHING IS BLACK AND WHITE… NO GRAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay put and draft a QB.
I don’t like giving up 4 picks in a crap shoot.
I’d be good with Cousins at $30 million.
Yeah, so would any team on the planet… $30M? He signed in 2018 for $28M… haven’t you noticed the inflation rate? Grin.
Bidenomics (“its working…..”)
Hay. – with Bidenomics he’s be getting 120 mil.
Kirk is gone, might as well get used to it
I’d say the odds are, he is gone.
Unless he wants to retire a Viking for less money.
Hiring a football player as a coach?
Probably a no.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahim_Moore
https://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/raheem-morris-hired-head-coach-announcement-arthur-blank
I sort of remember him and what he did – and wouldn’t take him.
He was HC of the Bucs after they fired Gruden
LOL.
I don’t know why I typed Moore
I saw a published article (so you know its not just some buffoon making shit up)
Vikings trade up to 1 overall and give up 11th 42nd and 126th and 1st and 2nd rounders next year……
Pick Maye…
I don’t mind it..
Giving up way to much for a crap shoot.
4 picks for the privilege of picking first?
No thank you.
That is actually what the value charts say you would need…
So if you are clamoring to move and take a QB that is what it will cost.
RGIII says do it!
Which chart?
Jimmy Johnson Chart?
Benny Hill? Chart?
or Kwesi’s Chart?
ESPN
The Benny Hill?
LOL.
Somebody caught it!
Rich Hill is the actual dude with his draft chart.
I like Benny Hill better.
Sugar Hill
Cypress Hill
Blueberry Hill.
Henry Hill
Hill-ary
Well if they Bears want to move back because they have their QBoF and no one else is offering much better then the value chart doesn’t mean squat. It’s the market value not the perceived value things sell and trade at.
Nice thought. And the real estate market sure proves that. Market value is only as good as what someone will pay for it, regardless of appraised value.
Sounds like you and Bruce Allen would get along…
That’s a lot to give up.
The charts say its fair…moving up is expensive…
So’s living in New York, so I’m staying in Florida.
And this is too expensive for me too.
Worked out well for the Redskins… oh wait… it didn’t.
That’s not a team in the NFL you racist!
Laughing… yeah, there was a Washington Post reporter who set out to write a “hit piece” article to denigrate the team for its “racist” name. He interviewed Native Americans all over the country and found out something like 98% of them either liked the name, or didn’t care. To his credit, he wrote an article admitting he was wrong.
When Dan Snyder sold the team to the new owners group, some Native American organization contacted them, asking them to change the name back to the Redskins.
Yes, polls showed the big UND “Fighting Sioux” was mostly popular with the Native Americans in North Dakota.
Apparently a few tribal leaders were interested in shaking down the state for “naming rights” so ultimately they changed the name.
Didn’t know that. Interesting.
The Standing Rock and Spirit Lake Sioux tribes in ND had to give namesake approval or the NCAA would mandate the changing of the name.
Spirit Lake voted to keep the name, but the Standing Rock tribal counsel would not allow a vote to take place without promise of monetary compensation.
Yup. I found that dumb. Tribal Counsels are insanely corrupt. I knew a guy that got on counsel because he had vans drive people from his district to the only off sale alcohol place in town to get their votes….
well, it worked!
Haha, true. Same dude later was found to have his wife locked in their garage, for probably weeks? Gave her a bucket to go to the bathroom in and food… he caught her cheating. He did not lose his spot on counsel… fucking slimey. One of the biggest enabling of poor behaviors and choices on the Rez is the Tribal Counsel.
Tribal Counsel?

lol.
No.
That’s fair and I would do it. The article you reference is included in the mythical words up top.
I did not see the article up top…I guess I should pay closer attention.
Either is fine.
— Not Tuesday…… please tell our defensive guys to tackle and our DB’s to cover receivers in playoff games.
Yep.
That’s why I advocate dumping everyone you can, draft players better that Rick could, and hope that by 2025 you are competitive again.
2024 is gonna be rough, with or without the same QB room.
Well keeping Cousins (and I have no idea how one would go about doing that) would probably mean the offense could be explosive to the point of being the #1 offense in the league. A 3rd year with the same OC, and system, might mean a record breaking year for Cousins. I’m talking 5500 yards and and 50 TD’s… no Vikings QB has ever come close to those numbers.
We could likely outscore almost any team in the league, which would give us a shot at the NFC North, and beyond, if the defense performed as it did this year.
That is the “potential” I see, because of Cousins brain and arm talent, coupled with a total mastery of KOC’s complex offensive scheme.
I still don’t see KAM agreeing to terms with Cousins though. I still think he will be playing for another team next year.
Agreed, also tell the QB not to check it down for 2 yards on 4th and 8
I will if you tell the RG to not throw an “ole” block on 4th and 8 too.
Well Surly, beyond Cousins and the receivers, maybe you can remind me of the part of the team that has been excellent the last 6 years.

Absolutely… as far as you know.

If you were owner of the Falcons would you have hired BB or Raheem Moore?
I would have gone with BB. Raheem Morris has been tried and was below average. Take a shot with BB, sign Cousins, and win, now.
Goose Morning!
Happy Friday!
Goose has a nice Viking’s pillow.
Quilt – my dad’s girlfriend made it. Turned out well.
You’re working that dog to hard.
He thinks the same thing.
Good morning, again. SKOL!

I remember my mom used to say that if some people couldn’t complain, they wouldn’t have anything to talk about. When I opened my browser to the Yahoo home page today, it made me think of that statement.
Yahoo still exists?
Yes, probably just because of me. I have 3 e-mail address with Yahoo.
I have just one Yahoo account.
But I have had it since the 90s.
