Interesting findings….
HDL is a little high – that’s good
LDL is about average – that’s O.K.
Triglycerides are a little high – that’s bad.

So anyone want to guess what a likely cause is of high Triglycerides combined with High HDL and Low to average LDL???…….

It is interesting to watch the women’s vs. the men’s 5K. The women get really strung out. Even at the D1 level they have a wide variance in talent.

Meanwhile, the men stay a lot more bunched together until one of them finally throws down and forces the talent to the front.

Have more than one person that can generate pressure on the D line would fix a lot of issues. It trickles down. If you pressure the QB the secondary doesnt have to play perfect every down.

Sure.
The new defense in the NFL is about taking away plays.
I mean, they have now banned certain tackling.
Good luck reffing that.
So you have do things scheme wise to not allow a play to develop.

I’m just of the opinion offense is the way to go in today’s NFL.
While defense matters to an extent, I’m just not sure what defenses will be allowed to do anymore.

i was (is) big believer in it’s an offensive league and they really have crippled defenses.
But looking at KC the last couple of years, they took eight rookies and their defense now ‘wins’ games.
I don’t worry at all about our offense.

I never got into that. Good old rock and roll from the Beatles through the 80’s is my flavor. Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd are about as heavy as I got.

But put skid marks on a “pride crosswalk” and you get charged with felonies.

Re: Nigerian prince.

Anyone have any experience with estate affairs? A couple of weeks back I had heard from my sisters that a distant great aunt (I only met her once, in Wales, when I was 8) had passed away and a genealogy research company had tracked them down.

Today I received an email stating their research into the family tree is done and they are “now in a position to act in the estate” and will email the “next steps”.

The next steps is an estate claim contract – a signed statement that I authorize Family Wise LTD as sole agent in pursuing my potential entitlement to a share of the estate (number of clauses including no guarantee of inheritance, no prediction of value of estate, 12% commission, no inheritance of debt nor fees if there is no inheritance), AND a formal document providing name (ie copy of a passport) and address (ie copy of a utility bill).

I’m definitely getting the Nigerian prince feeling here. All of this for what could be £0 or £1,000,000. I’m inclined to ignore the whole affair and they can give my share to charity for all I care.

We may be the only living relatives. Keeping in mind I only met her once as a child, I obviously don’t know anything about the decedent.

Our belief is that her estate must be quite small.

Proving identity, yes. I don’t imagine there is a well established family tree for the genealogy research given the circumstances and time that my father emigrated to Canada.

Not sure what my sisters plan to do. That’s their business. I’m willing to let them be the chum in the water.

Yours is a fair assessment. I am being crass. I don’t want them to get swindled but at least my sister was more excited about the initial contact than I was, and it is impolite of me to ascribe her motives.

My sister and I are not close…we are ten years apart and she is the one that yelled out in a public place “I want to rip open your ball sack with my teeth, pull out your balls, and throw them against the wall.” She has all of my father’s stubbornness so I’d never get far telling her what to do. My half sister is sweet but I had never spoken to her until I was 45.

As they by happenstance live only blocks apart in Calgary they are more in touch but I believe the last time I asked my sister said she hadn’t talked to our halfsister in a year.

In terms of seeing them, it has been 100% one sided (I travel to see them, not the other way around).

I should call my sister and see what her plans are. She seemed to think it was all legit after talking with Kirsty.

‘I want to rib open your ball sack with my teeth’.

Seems a strange thing for a sister to say. Maybe a Canadian thing.

I am not close to my sister either. She is in North Carolina with her ‘partner’ and is an odd duck. She was deep into Y2K and e-mailing info like how much water we should have on hand for each person when the grid shut down.

If something like this happened in our family we would have some that needed the money and others that would be more ‘risk adverse’ like yourself.

I’ve previously recounted that story on the DN. Essentially she was waiting in a swanky by Montana standards bar with her husband for my wife and I to show up with our daughter, who was by chance staying at the same hotel for a orthopedic conference. The bar was filled with orthopods from around the state and my sister had drank about half a bottle of rye. She started out saying some shitty thing about me, my wife rose to my defense, and my sister explained in graphic detail how upset she was that at age 17 (she was 7) I left for university and was not readily available to absorb my father’s insults and passive aggressive barbs. I’ve long since come to peace with my upbringing and give credit where credit is due, really I just struggle not to ever act as he did.

Have no idea of typical protocol in Wales but here usually people with estates of some worth have a will or some other document directed disposition of assets.
this sounds like all living relatives are entitled to something. Doesn’t quite all add up.

I surmise (guessing really), that she didn’t have a will. I have heard nothing about a will, just that this company was assigned to track down relatives as it was known many if not all of the relatives reside abroad. The three of us may be the only living relatives.

Then I’d guess the estate is small. Would seem reasonable for you to go back and state something like before I pass along my personal information could you please provide an idea ( 1 grand versus 100 grand) of size of asset we are talking about.
And if you wanted to check further, perhaps Wales has some kind of BBB or Ministry of Incorporation that could shed light on the legitimize of the settling company.

Well, I have to acknowledge that Florida had the better team last night. I wouldn’t be maudlin being down 2-0 in the series if the loss was due to a fluke overtime goal or some glaring gaffe by a defenseman, but the Oilers had no intensity to match the Panthers. Being down to only four defensemen for the majority of the game didn’t help, but I’m a lot less optimistic for the series than I was after game 1 when it was more about a HOF performance by “bob”. I’ll still cheer for them at home on Thursday and Saturday, at this point it’s either gonna be over in 4 or the SCF are going the distance. Have to revise my Oilers in six prediction to Oilers in seven.
