Vikings Harrison Smith

appy Thorsday, everyone, and welcome to Skoloholics, your home for Minnesota Vikings Discussion. Everyday you can join us for Minnesota Vikings news, Minnesota Vikings talk, NFL news and updates, and all of those other things that you have on your mind. At Skoloholics, the real action is in the comments, so if you haven’t checked out the comments section yet, sign up and join the conversation. As always, remember to be cool to one another.

We FINALLY had our fantasy draft last night. Hey, better late than never, right? My team should be fairly horrible, the auto-pick thingy screwed me up a bit. Oh well, my team was gonna suck regardless, so I’m going in with no expectations. We started a week late, but it’ll still be fun. I see kiddo is winning the Yahoo pick ’em league, I’m in the bottom 50% of that league. Humbling.

Vikings/NFL News and Updates:

At NFL.com, Aaron Jones plans to start another 100-yard game streak against the 49ers this week. I’ll be happy if he keeps running like he ran against the Giants, that was FUN to watch. Davante Adams said that Lamar Jackson is the ‘best ball carrier ever’.

In Prisco’s picks at CBS Sports, he has the Vikings pulling off an upset in week 2. I’m all for it. He also has his week one power rankings.

From Bleacher Report, the NFL set a record when they averaged 21 million viewers in week one of the 2024 NFL season.

Media Selection:

Some days, you need a jump start to get you going. Here’s a jump start for you, this is Slayer with Angel of Death. That primal scream at the beginning really ges the blood pumping.

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

I know this is his third one in the NFL. I had concussions in High School, College, and the military. Probably a half dozen, all told. I’m almost 70, and my brain is fine.

The NFL might force Tua to sit or something, for player safety reasons. Dunno.

Not that this is all that surprising, but ABC got busted cheating.

“I have just signed a non-disclosure agreement with the attorney of the whistleblower,” the post claims. “The affidavit states how the Harris campaign was given sample question which were essentially the same questions that were given during the debate and separate assurances of fact checking Donald Trump and that she would NOT be fact checked. Accordingly, the affidavit states several other factors that were built into the debate to give Kamala a significant advantage.”

I didn’t watch the debate, but from what I read, there seemed to be significant efforts by ABC to cast Harris in her best possible light, while doing the opposite to Trump. To me, this is election interference. Could Trump sue ABC? Dunno.

Laughing… I don’t actually hit my driver much. My swing is good for hitting down on a ball, and contacting the turf after impact. So I play a three wood off the tee mostly. I hit it about 180 yards on average. All I really want to do is keep it in play off the tee, bang an iron or seven wood somewhere up near or on the green, and make par or bogey.

Getting ahead in the points game early would be huge. If the vikes can grab a 2 score lead it might get the niners to throw more. After watching their run game the other night, without McCaffery, I would like to see Brock throwing more, which will allow b-flo to be aggressive also.

Shanahan believe in his run game. Even two scores down, he’ll keep pounding it. They can rip off 10 yard runs as easily as passes.
But yes, this will be a good test.

The Twinkies play the Reds in their up coming series. A kid that was a year older than my son and lived in Welcome MN area played for them last year. I am not sure if he still does or not. Yes, my sons team played him to go to the playoffs in baseball, his senior year. We had 3 stud pitchers and MCW had Brandon.

Brandon walked a kid, who then stole 2nd, a sac bunt moved him to 3rd and a throwing error got the kid home, we won 1-0.

I never had a good opinion or vibe with him.

This was the same dude when he was at the weather channel where he was acting like it was the end of the world. Couldn’t stand up straight during a hurricane. Then behind him, two people just casually walk by as if nothing was happening.

Jets looking at the history books on Sunday.
Lance Alworth: “Anything you can touch, you can catch…”

Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has 396 catches for 5,958 yards in his NFL career, which means he’s likely to reach the 400-catch and 6,000-yard milestones on Sunday. That would put him in elite company in NFL history.

Sunday’s game against the 49ers will be the 62nd game of Jefferson’s NFL career. If he totals at least 42 receiving yards, he’ll reach the 6,000-yard mark in game No. 62 of his career, something only Lance Alworth has done before. Alworth reached 6,000 career yards in his 62nd game in 1967, while playing for the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League. Alworth is widely regarded as the AFL’s best receiver and one of the greatest receivers in the history of professional football.

Used book sale day, which is like Christmas for me. Bit thin this year, though. They let special library members in Wednesday night, and it looks like they cleaned it out. Lady I know at the counter said they sold $1,000 work of books Wednesday night.

So I may have to become a library member for next year to get access to the good stuff.

All I got was Coma by Robin Cook.

I did get some fun DVDs, though: End of Days, Virus, Hereditary, Apocalypto, U-571 and Raising Cain for $5.

IMHO Das Boot is hands down the best war movie ever made. The look of jubilation on the submariner’s faces when the diesels start after they nearly die on the bottom…and “Not yet Kameraden, not yet!”. One of those 3.5 hour long movies I can get trapped watching again for the fiftieth time.

I also read the book back in the day. It was quite interesting. Being a U-boater was not for the fainthearted.

They had a term in the book for what the U-boaters called it when they partied it up before shipping out. Getting “f*cked out.”

I’m not a swearer, but I always thought that was a very apt term and would look for reasons to use it in real life.

I would never give the 2023 Vikings that much credit. They went 7-10 and missed the playoffs. Teams like that deserve zero credit for any any-given-Sunday wins they have a season.

If they were the local high school team, I would say, good job guys. Since they are professionals, I mercilessly mock them for their failures. Paying fans deserve better.

I don’t know, the 2023 Vikings started the season very poorly completely due to a rash of turnovers, not bad overall play. They righted the ship, got going on a win streak, beat both the 49ers and the Packers, then Cousins went down. I overtly believe that had Cousins not gone down, the Vikings would have finished no worse than 12-5 and probably won at least one playoff game.

This is just my opinion, of course.

Why not? they fumbled away several games early.
Then played a very competitive game against Chiefs ( bad no call), best the Niners and then the Packers. Those are three very solid teams.
we then lost our QB, and with a backup throwing 6 interceptions, damn near beat them twice – should have.
If you can beat the Niners and Packers, and hang with Chiefs and Lions. you’re in a solid spot in my opinion.

That’s what the 3 weeks of practice was for. Not to answer unknown questions because they most surely had the questions and not for Harris to actually be able to respond to Trump. They were simply practicing using the earbuds so they could give her instructions. “OK Kumala, smile now”, “now shake your head and look disgusted”.

I saw a headline that said Harris and the CEO of ABC are very close friends. Didn’t read the article, and no idea if it’s true. Very odd to me though that apparently ABC was fact checking Trump live, but did not fact check Kamala at all. Hmmm? Also I heard Kamala didn’t actually answer questions posed to her, and was never pressed on that. Hmmmm?

As I understand it, this debate was mostly like a paid political announcement, where Kamala just pushed a narrative, and Trump was not allowed the same accomodation.

I didn’t watch the debate though, so I have no direct knowledge of what occurred.

i came down with, probably covid, on tuesday the 3rd. the worst of it was those first 3-4 days, i thought i had it kicked, but man i’m still dealing with stuff. still feel like absolute crap. cough is the most annoying thing. lost my voice 3 days ago, still waiting for it to come back. gonna try to go sauna at a friends house and see if that helps.

i went to the doctor last friday to get some better cough meds. he asked if i wanted a covid test, i asked if it would do ANYTHING for me to have a covid test. he said…no. so i didnt get a covid test. he thinks whatever it is is just a viral crap that is going around, nothing to take for it.

Annually and we switched from Billings Clinic a few years ago and the new method is much easier and there’s no rainbow poem anymore. (Not to mention BC closed Occ. Health). Have you told your parents NOT to make you the caregiver in their living will?

All the post was about was to show a light hearted moment.

Gone fishin'

I'm a dad, husband, Army vet, believer, and a die-hard, life-long Vikings fan from the great state of North Dakota. I've been a Viking fan dating back to 1980, I've been covering the Vikings for nearly a decade, and I founded Skoloholics in 2022. I work in real estate and property management, I love spending time with family, working in the yard, doing anything in the outdoors, and as you can tell from my username, I love fishing. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!
