I think putting anybody in jail for marijuana is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. Therefore, I’m voting to legalize. It was made illegal, using no scientific basis for that decision, keeping it illegal is an exercise in utter stupidity.

alcohol is far more addictive, and far more harmful, and it’s not even close.

That said, I have never seen a super high guy get full of rage and wanna kill someone. Usually they either fall asleep or laugh it off.

Booze? rage inducing. Sometimes that is fun (football games, etc) as long as the rage is non-violent.

I’m pretty much what anyone does in their home (not killing beating etc) alcohol, marijuana is OK. In public, like drunk and disorderly, not so good. If marijuana would also cause that kind of behavior, not good either.
Don’t like the smell of tabacco around me, so probably not other type stuff.

Surly Viking

This season sucks. And after a few days off I can articulate what is most frustrating for me.

Pre season, I predicted 8-10 wins, and that could still very well happen. I bet the over when it was 7 wins. I did believe the defense would be improved, and that they added better talent on that side of the ball.

JJ got hurt. That put a damper on some of the hope and hype.

Then, the defense (and Offense, but mostly Defense) fell short the last two weeks.
Team looked completely unprepared in that second quarter vs the Lions. After a bye, that is not acceptable.

I turned off the Rams game as soon as Darrisaw went down. No reason to watch what was imminent at that point.

The defense misses Cashman more than they should. Depth on both sides of the ball is still very much lacking.

My biggest issue is that the team cannot turn to JJ if Sam flounders, or keeps taking sacks on 3rd down. There is nobody better at QB on the roster. Mullens sucks.
So, while I feel the season is doomed, and the team was not going to win it all this season, the 5-0 start gave me a severe overdose of Hopium. (far more dangerous and evil than booze or weed). I expected to see JJ a bit this season, at least in November/December if the game was out of reach either way.

I will watch the first half Sunday night, and probably go to bed at halftime unless they are actually playing well.

I had picked the Vikings to win in the pickem challenge that I am failing at.
Once they announced Flacco is starting, I went and changed it to the Colts. Flacco is another Goff/Stafford type that is accurate if given time, and handles the blitz pretty well.
Since I am wrong a lot, maybe the Vikings will win.

Still salty about the shit effort on Thursday.

What I don’t understand is why no one has mentioned the basis of that joke.
Puerto Rico has a problem with trash, their landfills are overflowing on it’s leaking into the aquifer. That is what the comedian was joking about.

It was a bad joke that got turned into a political talking point, I get that. But you would think at some point that PRs trash issue would be discussed.

I don’t like Biden. I really hope Kamala loses the election. That said, I would put money on Biden being the one who read the teleprompter/script wrong in that Zoom call. I bet the script was that “supporter’s” was referring to the comedian (the next line was “his demonization…”).

Obviously the take is wrong either way, but I would bet Biden’s handlers went into damage control (again) immediately after hearing his reading of the script.

All that said, I could certainly also see “supporters” being the actual thing written in the script and then the fake spin by media.

All voter fraud is bad. In person, with ID, counts done on the day of the election. Mail in for those abroad, mainly military, and early in person have their places but it’s gotten out of hand. Pretty soon we’ll be voting with an app.

You saw what happened in Arizona in 2020. Machines ‘broke’ and people were standing in line for hours to vote, some gave up and left.

I agree with IDs, but early voting to reduce pressure at the polls on election day is not a bad thing. Lots of ballots mailed out with ‘harvesters’ is just asking for fraud.

Citizenship verification on a government issued ID is not suppression. Everybody has an ID. For states that gives IDs and DLs to non-citizens, then the ID simply needs to say they are a citizen.

Poor ass people who have lived basically a nomadic and chaotic life lose those IDs. Many times it was lost by their parents because they have had a shitty life and up-bringing. This isn’t hard. I have lived in very impoverished communities have you? Many of these people don’t have their government IDs even from growing up. But they still deserve to vote. If you support 100% voter ID, WHICH I DO, but not at the cost of having it be a tool to get rid of millions of impoverished voters. We need an agency to go to every person who had payed taxes or has a social security card and to go them, physically and offer them an ID. Now no system is perfect. People who live off the grid or deny the ID, I guess that’s on them ya know? But it’s an incredibly ignorant stance you have and I mean that not in a mean way but also in a sincere way that you do not understand how these folks in very rural and poor areas live. They are still Americans, and still deserve to vote.

How about this, any place with a voting location also to have a place to get a voter ID? I am not against voter IDs, voter fraud is obviously wrong.

Saying people are members of society and don’t have some form of official identification is the ignorant part. I’m fine with the government providing IDs. You literally can’t survive in today’s society without ID unless you’re an outlaw off the grid type person. There is not a bunch of people so poor that they don’t have ID or access to one. That’s just ridiculous.

No one is holding them back from getting a new ID. What you describe is whats called a “you” problem. No person or Government is preventing them from voting. They are preventing themselves. And no person or Government is going to hold their hand and make them get off their ass to get another ID. You are using other peoples own incompetence are painting it as a directed oppression that simply does not exist.

Yep, by the same logic, people deciding not to vote is actually voter suppression because they weren’t drug to the polls or didn’t have a ballot delivered to their house and transcribed. There really should probably be an app so I can just vote from my house without any login either because expecting me to get an email address to sign in with would be suppressive.

Biden and the dems claim voter ID is racist.

Biden goes to vote, has to show an ID and sign a piece of paper.
Its on video from Monday.

Why is he not outraged by having to do this? I had to show my ID.

The answer is that Delaware is solid blue.

It’s only bad in swing states.

Interesting, I just checked how it would work if as a Canadian citizen (which I am) I wanted to vote by mail. The internet has made the process easier. To review, I voted in person at the last Canadian election I was eligible to vote for (1990). Until I became a US citizen in 2002 I did not vote in any elections, US or Canadian.

As it turns out, I could have (and could continue to) vote in Canadian elections. My vote would be cast in the riding of the district I last lived in. I just need to submit a form and:

  • Pages 2 and 3 of your Canadian passport,
  • Your Canadian citizenship certificate or card or
  • Your birth certificate, showing that you were born in Canada.

As I was not born in Canada (West Germany), I would show #2 – I tossed my expired Canadian passport a long time ago.

Yeah, he would be but I expect them to spend pretty big next year unless they use that money in house, but they really don’t have a lot of guys to extend. Greenard and the Ginkster would be good options, but off the top of my head I can’t think of too many others that are due for a new deal. Sam will get a big deal somewhere if he gets them to the playoffs, if. I’m curious to know the playing time stipulation in the pick compensation.

That’s an exaggeration, but there have been plenty that have said it doesn’t happen. Other than it being racist, the only other argument against voter ID is that non-citizens don’t vote so there’s no reason to ensure non-citizens don’t vote. All manner of voter verification should be implemented. 1 illegal vote, for either side, is 1 too many and to say it’s not enough to affect an election is disingenuous and simply an attempt to let it happen. Voter integrity should not be a partisan issue.

Edgecrusher71

Here’s the thing.

  1. The all manner of voter verification will and has ended up being used as a means to make it harder to poor people to vote. It’s a means that has gotten and will continue to get abused for voter suppression. I am all for voter verification but then you make it an absolute that every American has free access to whatever is being used for verification.
  2. Not enough to affect an election is just a basic understanding of statistics. Statistic nothings are a real and legit thing. Now morals and morally you are talking about a different topic. But a few hundred votes out of hundreds of millions is a statistical nothing. That’s just math. Go argue with math haha.
  3. Voter Integrity DOES include voter suppression. Otherwise you are being disingenuous that you care about voter integrity.

There is no citizen that doesn’t have access to an ID. ID requirements don’t keep people from buying alchohol, tobacco, etc. so how is requiring an ID that says you are a citizen voter suppression? Yes, 100 illegal votes in one county statistically doesn’t make a difference, but enough small “irregularities” makes a big one. A small pebble doesn’t make a big splash, but lots of small ones do and every American should be confident that the numbers from the election are 100% legitimate and accurate.

You are wrong. Absolutely wrong. You and I both know in small rural towns especially that 68 year old Gladys born and raised doesn’t need an ID to buy shit. There are tons of small rural towns where people don’t have IDs to live life or they had a driver’s license and it expired. You and I both know or if you don’t know you are being naïve… that when you implement these ID laws they will make damn sure there are NOT places anywhere near all these rural towns and farm lands for people to get IDs. Many of these folks don’t have the means to drive miles upon, miles, upon miles to get an ID. They might have an old beat up care to drive a short distance to the liquor store or whatever.

Put your money where your mouth is. Either support that we have a government agency that makes damn sure coast to coast that every person is given the opportunity to get a free license if you support these voter ID laws or just understand you don’t actually support true election integrity because you support voter suppression.

So Gladys has managed to live 68 years and never purchase anything or drive a car in a rural town? You need an ID to do more than buy alcohol. The only way to live without an ID in the current world is to be completely off grid so it would actually help the Dems because the crazy right wingers who don’t trust the government wouldn’t be able to vote. I’m fine with government supplied and backed IDs which happens most places. You literally can’t live without an ID so to say people can’t get one is just ridiculous.

So she doesn’t live in a house? Gotta have ID to buy or rent a home. A homeless person can still get an ID. An address isn’t necessary and there’s not a lot of homeless people living in the boonies outside of a town with access to a location that would issue an ID since, you know, you’d be illegally on public or private land and it wouldn’t last. I’ve interacted with people from all walks of life and the only people who claimed to not have ID did in fact have ID, they were just shit bags trying to hide something. Even an expired ID if issued by the government is sufficient. Pretending there’s a bunch of people running around as legal members of the US citizenship is the naive part.

I don’t think we’re disagreeing here really and you’re just looking for a fight. The odds of somebody going through life without a form of identification and wanting to be a member of society are so ridiculously small it’s stupid. To go through life without identification would take an amazing amount of effort and would be somebody who doesn’t want to be part of society and therefore would not vote anyway. They can’t manage to get an ID, but they’re going to be able to get a phone, TV, have a job, buy food, get to a polling place, etc?

The argument I hear for legalizing pot is that it will generate Millions of dollars in tax revenues for the “community”. I heard this same argument for the Casino’s in Maryland. In the end, we had more people who are broke because they got addicted and spent their life savings in the Casino’s, and all the new schools, road improvements, etc never materialized. When you “legalize” something based on a pitch that you’re going to make money on it, you need to be careful. Legalizing pot means one thing. More people will be walking around impaired. That’s it.

Disagree on semantics. People do stupid things while sober and while intoxicated.
While people are more likely to do very stupid things while intoxicated, the government already allows booze. There is no reason, other than control, as to why Reefer Madness and other propaganda hit, and why the drug is scheduled the way it is.

I can drink my self to death.
I cannot smoke myself to death(Never tried, and do not care for smoking weed, but I do like edibles).

I had unlimited access to weed when growing up, since my father was a hippie. I tried it a couple of times, and it just made me sleepy and very relaxed. I preferred booze instead as a teenager.

As a 61 year old, being sleepy and relaxed is amazing in the evening after a long day.

It also helps a lot with the arthritis pain.

If they suddenly outlawed it in MN, I would just get it from the local teenager off market.

I agree about the cancer aspect. Although I do feel the additives in cigs vs rolling your own joint are a very big reason for tobacco issues being worse than weed.

Again, I like gummies. If I do ever decide to inhale, it would probably be a dry herb vaporizer so I am not getting anything except the flower ingested, and it is vapor vs smoke, so less toxic.
Still bad, but less bad.

Big difference between mid terms and now.

Looks like re-arranging the deck chairs on the OL is in the works.
Haven’t seen this approach work in decades for the Vikings.

Why wouldn’t they play the new guy?

Because he is new to the system???

Even though he is a veteran, expecting him to get up to speed on all of the line calls in 4 days is asking a lot.

That being said, if we are in obvious passing situations…i.e. end of game or end of half, wouldn’t mind trotting him out there. Looks like he is pretty good in pass blocking.

Think maybe someone in the huddle can quick translate the play for him?

“This is a run around the L end, seal your guy.” type of thing????

Probably not. There’s a lot of calls made at the line and it would be especially problematic if the other team was showing blitz, etc. I’m not sure how similar of systems he’s played in previously. He’s been around long enough and been good so I think he’ll pick it up quick. Whether or not he can pick it up by Sunday, we’ll see.

I think stunts and such would also cause problems with a new guy installed. Same issue with Risner replacing Ingram, but Risner has been around longer so a smaller issue I would assume.

I believe this is before they announced the Jaguars trade.

SoCal – this is what I meant last night about Brandel not being the answer……

Brandel being an option was just clickbait IMHO.
Simple answer was to instal Q and maybe add a TE to assist when needed.

Vikings not paying the full amount of his salary.
Amount TBD….

Was hoping this was the case.
Otherwise we would have roughly zero cap space left.

I’m not sure he could ever do anything on purpose at this point.

The funniest part is that there is a real debate as to whether or not the sitting president intentionally undermined his VP’s presidential race or if he is too cognitively deficient to realize what he said. Neither is really a great option.

Can’t he be both? Which would be my guess. If Harris loses, would bet a lot Biden will be out there saying they should have left me on ticket.

I mean, I could see Biden being pissed about it all.
It’s in him to be bitter.

But to actually do things, on purpose, for Trump to win??
I think his hate for Trump is bigger.

Yeah, I think he’s spiteful about being taken off the ballot but his legacy, whatever it is, is tarnished if she loses, but if she loses he gets to say “I told you I was the only one that could beat him”.

Good morning, FTP & FT*!
SKOL!

Happy Hump Day!

I like the move to bring in a somewhat adequate replacement for Darrisaw, shows that the team believes in themselves and is not about to quit yet. We’ll see how it goes, but they at least are seriously trying. Good.

Also, FIRST.
