Vikings Discussion and Random Thoughts
The family and I are on our way to the lesser Dakota, going to Rapid City. We’re staying at a hotel that connects to the Watiki Water Park, so kiddo and I will have somewhere to hang out. We’re hoping to get out of as much of the formalities as possible. One of my wife’s friend’s daughters is getting married on Saturday, so we’ll likely go check in to the dance & what-not. I’m not sure what else is expected. I don’t think it’s a Catholic wedding, so if we do have to go, it shouldn’t be TOO long. Maybe we’ll try to find a mini-golf place, and if the go-kart track is still open, we’ll definitely hit that.
Aaron Rodgers was on McAfee’s show for the first time in a while, and while the headline said that he was going to shed some light on his impending decision, it did just the opposite. I’ll let the Brandon Purna at That’s Good Sports fill you in, check out the media selection.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
New thread, for those of you early risers who are here already & didn’t see it.
Merry Easter you clowns. Be safe. Stay out of jail.
Merry Easter Norseman… the older I get the more I want to misbehave… every day it gets harder and harder to stay out of jail.

Cool room
Looks nicer than that place we stayed in Deadwood back in 2002. Kiddo sleeps on the foldout?
Ya, or on the couch or in the middle.
Corner room with lots of windows? Nice. How’s the view?
Water park balcony
Ah
Bed bugs.
Found seafood
I’m gonna make homemade shrimp and grits tonight. Frozen shrimp is all that’s available in God’s country, but we’ll throw a little homemade kielbasa in to make up for it.
Kiddo & I are making seafood gumbo for the first round on Thursday.
Nice. We are doing a creole shrimp and crab over rice.
New recipe. If it sucks I will be over
I’m very lucky, my wife does 99% of the cooking, and she is good at it. Most nights when I’m cooking we get something from one (of 3 or 4) of the local restaurants. I mean I do the cooking on the grill, griddle, or smoker, but that’s just prepping some meat or veggies.
If it was up to me, it would be the same rotation of about six or seven dishes.
Didn’t last long
yum
Gone!
Good stuff
I am really looking forward to next Friday’s thread.
No matter what happens day 1 of the draft, we will find something to complain about.
Even if the complaints are just about how terrible Green Bay is.
Green Bay sucks.
No reason not to start early.
I’m going to buck the crowd here and say that I enjoy church.
I like going, it’s just being around people that I could do without.
you and me both.
Church was fine.
No issues with the building.
The people in the building were the problem.
That could be said of any building. Like my house…
Brings me back to my yout…….
When the team came first.
I would guess Hilgenberg knew he was slow compared to Krause.
I guess he’d be a decent pickup, but he’s honestly not a game changing player. He’s fast (4.41 forty) and has good coverage skills, but he’s not a tackling machine. I’d rate him as good, not great.
i don’t think he’s like a major upgrade from griffin, but he’s younger so that’s good i guess
Younger is good.
With our D line good CBs will look great. Pressuring the QB makes all secondary’s look better then they really are. Which is why Im not a fan of drafting a CB in the first 3ish rounds.
I actually would love a draft like this
Kiddo was reading through the old threads. LOL
That is awesome
Was he saying he doesn’t want you to bring drag queens for homeschooling or that he doesn’t want you to return your dress?
LOL, that’s what I was wondering.
I meant I don’t want you to bring drag queens for homeschooling🤣
You don’t want to see your dad in a dress? That’s no fun. I bet he could pull it off.
GF, just saw your reply about the cost of the JJ-signed helmet. You get it? They come down to $225?
It won’t be available until Tuesday or Wednesday, I left them my card so they can call me. The dude who pawned it COULD come get it before then, but they said it wasn’t likely.
It’d be a sweet get.
perhaps one of my favorite bible stories, besides my Savior taking on the full wrath of God for ME….
is the story of the thief on the cross. going to show that there is still mercy for those who TRULY believe, even in the last MOMENT of your life.
Lots of great proofs in that statement of Jesus.
Fulton Sheen referred to the “good” thief as “the thief who stole heaven.” Always liked that jocular expression. Tradition has it that the thief’s name was Dismas.
Aaron Rodgers Says Aaron Glenn, Jets Didn’t Show ‘Ample Amount of Respect’ Before Exithttps://bleacherreport.com/articles/25187503-aaron-rodgers-says-aaron-glenn-jets-didnt-show-ample-amount-respect-exit
What a doosh.
Watch the interview itself. Lots of quotes framing things to make him seem like a douche (which he is). But if what he says is true about his visit in the office, then the respect line is true and would be for any player.
I think most everything about the J E T S is bad.
Organization is shit. I am sure he did nothing to help that, however.
He is a doosh. But the team is terrible from the top down.
They really are, such a shit show.
He paid for his own flight, I hope he still has enough cash left to eat & stuff.
He’ll write it off as a business expense just like he did with the whole ayahuasca trip.
Oh, can I do that?
If you come up with an idea for the website or how to deal with your properties, I’d go for it.
I meant writing off an ayahuasca trip. I do write off the trips to Rochester since I claim expenses for the site.
I know. While on that trip, you just have to have an epiphany and you’re good. Mind you I’m just a biologist and not a tax expert sooo….
I approve
Hey GF, is that an indoor waterpark you and the kiddo are going to hang out at? Kinda cool up there for outdoor swimming, I’d think.
It’s all indoor and connects to 3 (maybe 4) hotels
We’re at the Fairfield. I stay at Marriott whenever possible.
Well, we aren’t there yet. We’re still in Bismarck. My wife had a closing to go to this morning, so we’re waiting for her to get home. Kiddo & I were playing Fortnite. Took 3rd place 3 games in a row on Ranked Reload.
Been a long long time (2002) since we stayed at a motel in Black Hills. We were skiing at Terry Peak, had the doggo (Zeus) with us, and stayed at some $29 a night special in Deadwood IIRC. Was a complete dump but otherwise filled the gap…but I well remember the last night we were there my wife had a bad cough and I was fretting about getting no sleep with the long drive back to Grand Forks the next morning in a snow storm. Ended up getting up 75 minutes of sleep laying on a blanket on the cold bathroom floor with the door shut so I couldn’t hear the constant coughing.
Your choice sounds much nicer. Probably have a suite or at least two beds.
Not sure if you saw my post yesterday, but if you decide to get another pup, I highly recommend Western Extreme Pointing Labs. He’s a great guy, has awesome dogs and I think he might have a couple blacks or chocos available. We got our yellow from him and he’s great. He starts the dogs on wings and does things like bang on pots while they’re eating too help keep em from getting gun shy.
Thank you for that…did not see it yesterday. References from other owners carry a lot of weight, so I will definitely follow them on FB.
Back when I got my first dog (Zeus the vizsla), we were on the list for a year for a puppy out of a champion breeder in Cochrane w of Calgary…momma ended up losing all but two pups so we actually got Zeus from a breeder south of Fargo that had one left…but the original Canadian breeder put me through an interview process more stressful than med school interviews, and some of the things he and she taught me I still practice…don’t run pups faster than you can run until six months…when you are playing with them give them some hard (not painful, but hard) spanks on the butt so they don’t get pissy when kids play rough with them, handle their gums and paws all the time to get them used to brushing teeth and trimming nails, etc…Zeus loved the pheasant wing on a fishing line game.
I keep a pair of ear plugs in my travel bag for occasions like this.
As did I after that happened. Although all that room had was a twin bed and a little desk so my options were limited even if I were deaf.
Yikes. 2 people in a twin bed would be almost impossible to sleep by itself.
Yepper, Watiki water park in Rapid City, pretty nice, just REALLY crowded.
They used to have a go-kart track in Rapid City as well, hope it’s still open.
We went to the indoor one in November. It was pretty awesome. Definitely pay the extra for the fast carts.
Yep, we paid extra the last time we went. It’s been a few years, I wasn’t sure they’d still be open.
This mock draft goes out to Bowbunch and Freezy. I got their players by hook and by crook.
what website did you do that one on??
https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-draft-simulator
It is a decent one. It highlights the positions you picked and even gives you an immediate grade of the pick. They don’t give the grade in the summary, though, and there is no convenient download button. Those are the cons.
The thing that stymied me was it said, “The draft will be starting soon,” and I sat there like an idiot with it never starting.
That is because you have to click the “Start” button at the top of the screen.
Slick would be proud.
5 – 7th rounders…..
I was desperately drying to spin four picks into more, and then I heard a voice whisper in my ear…
“Seventh round…”
And it all became clear. I knew what I must do…
Well done
I was raised Catholic, I have 2 weddings this summer in the Catholic Church. May be the most time I’ve spent in church in the last 10-20 years.
I’ll pray for you.
I am a recovering Catholic.
This ^ , you win the internet for the day lol – thats a good one
Our family drama in the group text about where we should have Easter service was getting annoying. I got reservations for a very good Easter Brunch for everyone, did my part. Family dynamics change a lot as you get older, I am learning.
Our approach is easy. You bitch, you get to organize it
That’s a sound approach.
Welp my oldest sister was the one who shot down the new Church idea from Mom so she straight up said shes not coming if thats where we go lol. Meanwhile im trying to convice my OTHER sister who doesnt like the old church anymore to just deal and we all go to that one. Its Friday and we still havent made up our minds. Im not the one with kids, im just along for the ride.
Go to the arcade instead of church. Problem solved.
Makes sense.
You get the added bonus of being able to win tickets. We bought our PS5 using those tickets.
I’d rather be in the mountains thinking about God than in church thinking about the mountains.
I like that.
I think it would be nice to be in a church in the mountains.
Facts. Church is just a convenient place for people to get together and share their faith. You dont need to go there to have faith or practice it. And everyone goes about it their own way. Just my 2 cents.
Agreed.
I found too many people attending church were judging.
Yup, I get a good laugh at the mega churches. Pastors wearing Rolex watches and driving Cadillac escalades. HBO/Max has a series called The Riteous Gemstones, it’s based on a family that operates a mega church. It’s a comedy that’s pretty good.
I deff would rather – We had an office get together there yesterday actually. Go to ear and drink beer for free for 4 hrs.
I’m a recovering Catholic as well.
I usually only go to that church for funerals. Going to a stand-up funeral this weekend, only because I like the people. Most of the time I duck out of going to these things. I don’t think I’ll have to attend the dance or anything.
I always tell Catholics to give up being catholic for lent. Some find me funny, others don’t.
If they laugh you know they are good people
Not catholic, but I have used that line since giving up attending church in 2005.
Only been in a church for weddings and funerals since that time. While I miss a few of the people, I am also better off by not seeing most of the people that were there.
Dogs really are better than people.
Amen.
Today I am taste testing Fruity Pebbles Jelly Beans and Skittles Jelly Beans.
I don’t like the Fruity Pebbles Jelly Beans.
The Skittles Jelly Beans are better.
Not sure about Fruity Pebbles for a jelly bean flavor, but the malt at the State Fair with fruity pebbles was amazing.
Bearskat has donuts with Fruity Pebbles on them. Donuts are the only thing I really miss since I had to stop eating gluten.
Bear scat does not sound appealing. I know it looks like granola bars, but I think the taste is a little different.
Best donut place I’ve ever been to.
Oops, this is gf, using kiddo’s iPad.
Sweets are my weakness. To think I used to start my day with sugary cereals and added sugar to the cereal, even in my bachelor days…a habit I picked up from my dad.
Was funny after I was
indoctrinatededucated by my wife, we would go visit my folks and it was eye opening how much sugar they consumed, right down to 5 or 6 7-ups a day.I find sugar harder to quit than booze, tobacco, or most anything else I have stopped doing for awhile.
Sugar draws me back. I quit booze for 10 years, nicotine it has been 30+ years.
Sugar, I usually make it about 2 months, then some family event happens, and I have desert, and all bets are off.
Happy Good Friday!

Hope everyone has a good weekend with a minimum of family drama.
Ditto!
No family drama here, it’ll just be the 3 of us. We aren’t getting back to town until Sunday, kiddo & I are considering camping that night, weather permitting.
I always thought it would be fun to shoot & eat a rabbit on Easter, mainly because I don’t know why people use a rabbit to signify Easter. Seems odd to me.
Works for Thanksgiving. Maybe I’ll take my kiddo rabbit hunting for his birthday tomorrow morning. I like where your head is at.
Happy Good Friday everyone.
