Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
The divisional round is upon us! By the end of the day tomorrow, we’ll know who will compete for the conference title next weekend. Although I hope he proves me wrong, I feel that Darnold will turn back into a pumpkin this weekend, and I feel that the Bills will take out the Broncos. Those are my two “upset” picks this weekend.
Vikings and NFL News
A summary of divisional round inactives from NFL.com.
Also from NFL.com, Aaron Rodgers is NOT expected to return to Pittsburgh now that Mike Tomlin has left.
The Seahawks continue to play games with the injury report. CBS Sports reports that the Seahawks “don’t know” if Sam Darnold will play this weekend.
ESPN reports that the Packers are expected to sign LaFleur and Gutentisk to extensions.

Looks like 10-0 Indiana at the half of the Championship game
Indy 27 – 21.
First 16-0 collage football team in over 100 years.
I think Miami wins tonight
Probably, since I want Indiana to win.
Go Hoosiers!
Yup, Go B1G.
Way good-er than the ACC.
It’s all in the presentation…
Yikes. You can’t hate MSM enough.
That’s some real dystopian spin right there.
As my wife would say “You can’t make that shit up”
Found a company that makes good guns and you can fully customize them, all the way down to the serial number. Might have to go with this design I threw together.
Sweet!!
Careful. With the history of this team, it might be a little off target.
It should be close, pretty reliable at the range, but then fail in a big moment.
It would probably have a tendency to miss wide left when needed as well.
I assume that’s the Platypus?
Yeah. I hadn’t ever played with their customization thing. It’s pretty cool.
I’ve been married 29 years, but still have a lot to learn.
One of the projects at the Love Shack my sweetheart has been wanting to complete is pulling a wall mounted air conditioner out of the north wall. Neither of the a/c units work, I had pulled the west wall one in October which was a classic snafu consisting of sledge hammer work, prying, cursing, cutting, pushing, pulling, etc until we got it out (~4 hours).
Since her DIY husband relented and decided we could pay someone to paint the upstairs, the task of taking out the second unit moved up the priority list so the painters could tape, sand, and paint the drywall I put up after the unit was pulled.
Additional items on Saturday schedule were to pull all the baseboard trim upstairs and get all the mounts off the walls. The moose was a bear, so to speak, sitting about 18 feet off the ground in a hard to reach spot. During our morning walk, we were each listing off items we would need to bring to the Love Shack, my wife said a sawzall with metal blade would be the best bet for the a/c, I said uh huh but didn’t see how that would help, so didn’t bring it. Rookie mistake.
I get all the caulking and glue scraped off the outside of the unit to the best of my ability, freezing my balls in the wind and cold. I start beating the unit with a hammer, yanking on it, to no avail. My wife says yeah you are just going to have to start cutting it with the sawzall. “I didn’t bring it”.
A stream of vindictive profanity followed. Such foul language from such a beautiful woman.
I drove back to the shouse and got the sawzall. Ten minutes later the a/c unit was dropped in pieces in the back of the side by side and I got to work putting in the drywall patch, insulation, and exterior sheathing.
Like I said, rookie mistake.
I turn 71 the day after tomorrow… your commentary only further reminds me that the DIY stuff is far more limited in my life now.
You should DIY a bike ramp then for you BD you can buy and bike and have yourself a great time.
*Ambulances will be standing by*
Heard GF gives lessons…
Oh, it gets easier all the time to put the DIY projects in manageable chunks. It actually took counseling for me to realize I am terrible at goal management, in that I will let a goal (say, cut up all the deadfall AND stack it AND burn it) consume my free time from dawn til dusk. I remind myself when my wife says you aren’t going to get all that done in a day that she is looking out for my OCD tendencies.
As for aches and pains, I thank those that mentioned it on here for DDP yoga. Helps immensely with keeping me flexible and toned without a gym membership.
You are easily the hardest working rich dude I know….I would not say you are the smartest rich dude I know, because they pay people to do that shit….But I guess you must derive some satisfaction from it so who am I to judge.
Hard working gouger?
I thought all that ended with ‘residency’.
Many docs work harder after training than during training. The field has a way of attracting the over achiever.
A lot of what I do at work is routine and I am much faster now at reading routine stuff than during training.
The life (outside work) projects I do as part of the work-life balance are what stimulate me now. Like I can’t wait until I receive my bee packages and start raising my girls this spring. Although the bees are from Minnesota so I have concerns about their gender identity and mental health.
I absolutely derive great satisfaction from completing projects, and doing them well. It is like a drug for me.
I put in a new LED light this weekend.
Not as dramatic. But I got it done!
Wife happy.
Nice job!
I emptied the dishwasher.
Wife was happy.
You have to set the bar low.
Yep.
Its the little things.
I got to buy a new washing machine yesterday and then go back for new hoses when it sprayed everywhere. I did get a new CO monitor installed in my camper though. Next is pulling the furnace on the camper to try and put in a new sail switch.
Sail switches are evil.
Just got back from unplanned trip to DC. MIL after all her other problems now has congestive heart failure and was back in the hospital. She’s doing better but it’s a long road given her age,
Forgot how much fun it is to drive in the snow and what it’s like to wear a winter coat and gloves. Few days is more than enough. Not that it’s warm in Florida right now.
Eat in a sports bar Saturday night watching game with a load of Bills fans – man, were they pissed at the refs. The NFL is getting worse I believe.
Welcome back JR… yep… we’re in the dead of winter here in Florida. Sunny and 55 degrees in Tampa.
Hope things improve with the MIL.
Thanks. Improvement with time – hoping.
Just learned the German word for constipation: farfenpoopen.
The German word for a bra?
farfrumpoopen*
Let me cook
Ok Heisenberg
What did Yoda say when he saw himself in 4K?
Laughing
A cross-dressing Spanish singer who hates America….and now Green Day opening for them? Yeeesh, NFL.
Still… the Bears won the Division…
And yet the announcers on tv where raving about how good he was.
Williams only completed 58.1% of his passes this year in the regular season, but he did throw 27 TD’s against just 7 interceptions. Right now, he is more freak athlete than great QB. Ben Johnson got a lot out of Williams this year though. He may be able to get a lot more out of him next year.
If the Vikings had decent kickoff coverage they’d have won the division, but they didn’t.
Seems like we play this game every season. Undoubtedly there are some fans celebrating a >.500 season. Gah. However, if we beat Chicago by not letting Santos kick the GW FG, that mixes up the wild card, meaning GB would have something to play for week 17, meaning we had McFragile/McPonder and his bruised pinkie and Brosmer going up against GB starters.
Once again the NFC North underwhelms in the playoffs. In the way too early prognostication, how do you think the teams end next season?
I’m going with GB-CHI-MIN-DET, nothing earth shattering.
I would say GB-DET-CHI-MIN. I don’t think CHI wins a bunch of cake schedule games by <1 score in the final 2 mins like they did this year.
I don’t know if I would put us in last place. We are usually pretty average, so I would put is in 2nd or 3rd.
Yeah, thought about that, but which other team in division is getting worse? They all have good QB’s, and we don’t. And we’ll probably lose some defensive performers and WR’s next year.
Are we losing WRs to trade or suspension?
Well I’m assuming Addison is gone one way or another. No Hockenson (not a big loss there, and yes I know he’s a TE not a receiver per se). I thought someone said Nailor is likely gone too.
The Lions lost both their OC and DC to head coaching jobs this year, and it showed. Ben Johnson is one of the best offensive minds in the league. I think the Bears are in better shape than people think.
It’s KOC “even-numbered year”, so the Vikings will finish in 1st place and then lose in the first round.
That’s encouraging, means our QB situation gets figured out, one way or another.
This made me laugh…
I’m guessing DJ was hurt…he gave Curl an easy INT in OT by jogging.
How about the other two picks?
I didn’t watch the game before OT.
MLK holiday means no new thread?
Hey if the federal and state employees get the day off the admins should as well.
When Chauncey M. Depew, a prominent American politician and orator spoke at the christening of the Statue of Liberty on October 28, 1886, his speech included the following passage near its conclusion:
“The rays from this beacon, lighting this gateway to the continent, will welcome the poor and the persecuted with the hope and promise of homes and citizenship. It will teach them that there is room and brotherhood for all who will support our institutions and aid in our development; but that those who come to disturb our peace and dethrone our laws are aliens and enemies forever.”
This sums up my perspective on the illegal immigrants that are violent criminals, and the Islamic extremists trying to enact Sharia law in our country.
Have been doing some reading to formulate a thoughtful position on immigration. Read Aquinas and his views on the alien and immigration, very similar to Depew’s statement.
It’s a sensible, rational position.
Wonder what color Williams fingernails are painted today
Blue… of course…
Does it matter? The kids a baller. I wouldn’t give two shits if our QB painted his fingernails as long as he had the “it” factor like Caleb does.
I don’t think he has the “it” factor. I honestly think this will be the farthest in the playoffs he’ll ever go.
Me too. He can scramble, but I don’t see consistent great play from him. Better than JJMac for sure, though.
“Baller” threw three picks to lose the game
Indeed
Johnny Manziel had the “it” factor too…
Yeah, but he was a crack addicted midget.
You say that as if it was a bad thing.
Yet he was a “baller” with the “it” factor.
RGIII had the “it” factor too…
I’m just happy for Patriots fans. They’ve had it rough these past 2 or 3 years.
Teams that passed on Vrabel as a head coach were foolish…
I think it was more Vrabel passing on other teams openings because he wanted the Patriots job. Tennessee was foolish to let him go.
I think the Falcons interviewed him in 2024, but went with Raheem Morris instead.
Ahhhh, the poor Pats fans.
Going so long without a SB win.
lol, yeah easy road to the SB if they can score like 20 points
C.J. Stroud was less than stellar in his two playoff appearances this season. The Texans won the first game, despite Stroud’s play, but yesterday, the Texans coach should have pulled him after that 3rd interception IMO. He was fried at that point. Moving forward, the Texans need to seriously review these performances. Stroud had a great rookie year, but he’s declining rapidly before our eyes.
‘Texans coach should have pulled him after that 3rd interception’
Who would the backup have been.
‘Replacement does not automatically mean ‘Improvement’.
Davis Mills, who is unspectacular for sure, but clearly option 1 was failing. Got to try option 2 at that point. Desperate measures for desperate times.
I still like him, but this year he seemed to struggle, losing a bunch of skill players didn’t help but he’s still responsible for his play
He has talent, but he showed some serious cracks in the armor this year. It might be a between the ears issue. That would be my personal take. But his last two games in particular his play was singularly problematic.
Rams beat the Seahawks 21-19 in week 11.
Seahawks beat the Rams 38-37 in week 16.
Split the series with a total spread of 3 points in two games. Should be a fun one.
Interesting note: 2 of the 3 losses for the Seahawks were at home.
Two of the three losses for the Seahawks? You highlighted two games… color me confused. Are you talking about their regular season losses this year?
Correct. The last note was not about the Rams vs. Seahawks.
When BFlo takes the Steelers gig, maybe we can get McDermott to be DC here?
McDermott will definitely be in demand.
At first I was worried about BFlo getting a 2nd interview with the Stealers but then I found out that they were giving everyone a 2nd interview.
‘Along with Flores, the Steelers will also be giving second interviews to Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, and former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’
Now they will probably take a long, hard look at McDermott as well.
They might add McDermott to their list now. I would.
I think I said that.
‘Now they will probably take a long, hard look at McDermott as well’
#grin
Laughing… missed it…
I did a stealth edit.
You might have needed a reload to see it.
Hence the #grin.
Not likely, I think Morris is more probable
Bills fire their coach.
Kind of comical. He cannot control the refs….
Harbaugh signed to soon.
He could have had Allen for his QB….
Seems like someone/something is waging war on established/successfull HC this offseason.
McDermott is a good coach IMO. Made good decisions and choices, but obviously the playoff failures were his undoing.
Like Lamar, folks are looking a little sideways at Josh Allen now. Great athlete, but is he really a great QB?
Yeah, it was wild how Denver got TWO pass interference calls in OT and they were mugging Cooks on the other side of the field, esp. on that play before the interception (and the interception), but wasn’t called for them. I think that game was rigged for Denver and Payton, for whatever reason.
The Pukers lost in Vikingesq fashion.
The Bores lost in Vikingesq fashion.
All in all, kind of cool to see that.
Was Caleb’s mom around for the crying?
Down to the final four, with the Patriots and the Broncos, and the Rams and the Seahawks. Seahawks and Patriots look to be the likely Super Bowl participants. Bo Nix breaking his ankle on the second to last play of the game takes Denver’s chance of getting there way down. The Seahawks seem to be far and away the most complete team, but Sean McVay and Matt Stafford are still formidable. That’s going to be a great game.
That Rams-Seahawks game is going to be a great game. I think the Rams pull it out, but I’d be happy for Sammy D getting to the Bowl and winning it.
I am cool with 3 of the four final teams.
And the 4th will be without their QB so Buttholeface should ‘go down’.
All in all a decent playoff given that we could only sit and watch.
Williams goes from the hero, to the goat. Throws an incredible TD pass to tie the game, then throws the interception, to lose the game.
F the Bears!!
Come here to post just that.
FTB
Williams throws his 3rd interception!
Rams ends don’t hold the edge let cry baby run wide smh
OK Stafford… whatta ya got?
How is it the bores can get so lucky? Things just fall their way, sometimes u make your own breaks but these fucks got that Golden Horseshoe up the ass.
OT… Crazy.
OMG… Williams scrambles backwards like 25 yards then lofts up a bomb into the end zone to a wide open receiver… tie game!!!
No holding called on the left tackle, and no OPI called in the end zone
Rams timeout…
27 seconds left, 4th and 4…
31 seconds left, 3rd and 4.
Two big plays, Bears inside the 20.
Rams punter with the 33 yard punt, to set the Bears up at their 49.
Bears going to get the ball back in good field position with just under two minutes left, and one timeout. Need a TD to tie, or two point conversion to take the lead.
Rams finally complete a drive in the second half for a TD, up 17-10.
That didn’t look like much of a ‘roughness’ penalty to me.
Ben Johnson has turned the Bears offense around. It’s far more diverse and effective.
Incredibly bad choice by Stafford there, throwing into double coverage. Could have been picked.
Nice 85 yard drive there for a TD by the Rams. 6:33 off the clock, 14 plays.
Caleb throws an interception on 4th and 2 at the Rams 21.
Alright….F the Bears !!
Yep, enough of this shit, F the Bears!
and as always, FTP!!
Yep.
Hoping for a Rams Patriots superb owl.
two former O lineman in this game, both looking much better than they ever did for the Vikings.
Why did it take soo long to change O Line coach?
Same thoughts here.
It took the Vikings 3 weeks to make a change?
Smart teams move off of guys quickly.
Great catch, but NY wants to keep it close.
I guess NY could not alter the footage quickly enough….
Yeah. I was wrong and surprised it didn’t change.
TD under review. I think he caught it, so they’ll call it incomplete.
That’s my prediction as well.
Texans finally get called for PI
