We’ve reached the peak of the week, it’s all downhill from here! As with most Super Bowls, I’ll watch, but in a very detached way, I may find something to tinker with during the game. I’d like to see Darnold win one, but I’d also love to see Diggs get one. I know some don’t like him, but I got a chance to meet him, and I thought he was very genuine and had a good sense of humor.
Vikings and NFL News
This is almost like a punctuation mark on the decision to move on from Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Former Viking Lewis Cine, a first round pick 4 years ago and KAM’s first draft pick, couldn’t even secure a spot on a UFL roster, per Yahoo Sports. Yikes.
The Vikings announced three additions to the coaching staff, along with one promotion within the staff, per Vikings.com.
On Lunchbreak, the guys discuss the upcoming draft and free agent prospects the Vikings could pursue.
The Sporting News thinks Aaron Rodgers will be under center for the Vikings in 2026.
NFL.com looks at what we learned from last night’s 2026 Pro Bowl games. I watched much of it, I can assure you that we learned nothing.

I think they’re reviewing a list of folks to interview and consider hiring. I also think most of the draft work was done over the calendar year in 2025, although some of it also started in 2024.
I could see some combination of Brez and KOC.

So the U of M Mens Basketball team lost to Penn St over the weekend to give Penn St their first win of the B1G 10 Season. Bad Loss for the Rodents.
Now they just beat #10 ranked nationally Michigan St, Very Good Win.

With that audience, and most good companies play up to their customers(audience), you’d think they would have a CW singer and band.
Certainly entertainment that is appealing to the the majority of the fanbase. There are plenty of good musical acts that would reach a broader audience.
Really, so why do this?
Arabs don’t watch football. Latinos don’t watch football. they both are into soccer as is most of the rest of the world.

Bad Bunny wears a dress and is “anti-American”. He is outspoken regarding being pro-immigrant, holding Puerto Rican nationalist views, and pushes “ICE Out” speech. His music and public persona emphasize Puerto Rican culture, criticism of US immigration enforcement, and political issues.
You know, the embodiment of the woke liberal NFL.
Does the woke crowd watch football, or how much compared to the conservative crowd.
I really don’t know the split between liberals and conservatives on the NFL. My gut is that the fanbase leans conservative. Just my sense of things.
They figure they will more than make up any loss of consecutive fans by drawing in new, woke fans. It is all a numbers game.

As I complain about the me-me-me generation, I am ironically going to make a me-me-me statement. I think when I turned 20 I probably got a card from my grandparents and another from my parents. Highly doubt I received another birthday wish. My oldest granddaughter just turned 20, and there were over 120 birthday wishes on her FB page, in addition to a couple of dozen wishes on her mother’s FB page. Apparently it is vitally important to receive a birthday wish from your social media friends in this modern era, if one is snubbed you are mortal enemies.
That’s why I stopped doing it altogether. You forget one, and people get hurt. I stopped doing them all (on social media), and now no one can complain.
Well, they all can complain equally while the knives are out for you…

Watched a little clip at bedtime yesterday.
Local guy in MSP, he was pissed because while participating in the protests, the protesters were asked to disperse and move off the roadway, and when they failed to comply he was hit with a pepper spray ball, cuz, you know, they were trying to get he and his buddies to disperse as requested.
Said he was fed up with being treated this way, the next peaceful protest he came to he was going to be carrying his pistol and was going to do everything in his power to stop this horrible abuse of power.
Good times. The protesters have completely jumped the shark. I completely understand the meme of the US giving Minnesota to Canada in exchange for Alberta.

I’ve come to the conclusion this can be a good outcome for the country.

I always remember when my wife and I were in DC to do the monument tour with the park ranger set up by our congressman. We were coming towards the Dept of Interior building where we were meeting the ranger at the north entrance, but since we were coming from the Smithsonian Metro station we were close to the south side of the building walking down C street. My wife had to pee and our plan was to enter the south side and find a restroom before walking either within or around the building (it is pretty big as I’m sure most of you know) to the north and meet our guide.
Bunch of black SUV’s nested on C Street at the south side…secret service agent was clearly conflicted and almost wanted to get permission for my wife to go in and pee (probably had a wife at home) but ultimately said no dice so we had to dash to the north entrance. VP (Biden) was in the south part of the building per the security guys on the north side.
I’m sure if we had thrown a temper tantrum and demanded our civic right to a restroom the secret service would have been impressed and not been tempted to perp walk us down the street.

I love the incredible irony of them creating a traffic blockade and checking people’s ID’s and stuff to make sure they’re not ICE. But they are protesting asking citizens and illegals for their ID’s to make sure they’re citizens…

Speaking of short attention spans, I was in attendance at the local community college basketball game on Sunday. I noticed two presumed siblings seated three rows in front of me, boy and girl about a year apart in age, I’d call them 6 and 7 or 7 and 8. They each had a tablet and spent the entire game riveted to the games they were playing on the tablet.
We’ve talked about the get off my lawn attitude one gets as they age, I am just flabbergasted that parents are raising children that require their electronic pacifier well into adolescence even when they are in attendance at a basketball game. “Back in my day” if my folks took me to the department store I was expected to sit and behave myself while they browsed clothing…going to a basketball game where there is some actual entertainment happening would have been a treat.
Not to mention that they parents are wasting money paying for those sibling BB tickets.
My Nieces/Nephews were at the begging of the ‘Social Media’ phase that we are currently in. We insisted that they put down their phones during dinners and family time. Once the reached college they were all in on Phones.
When they visited last month they were on their phones when they were not interacting with us. But once we engaged with them they automatically put their phones down. I consider that a win. Not sure it would be achievable today.
I remember the announcers always saying he is frustrating for coaches, because he can not play within a system. He was very entertaining to watch.

I still think Harrison Smith wanted to retire years ago, but Cine was such a bust that Kwesi convinced HS to hang around to let the fan goodwill mask the error.
Probably, though I do think he’ll finally retire his HOF cleats, I still wouldn’t be surprised if he did lace them up for one last season, it did seem like the last game was his and ham’s swan song but Smith is such a mercurial quiet guy you never know. Either way, Smith will be in the HOF and Viking ring of honor, despite needing a walker to get to the podium.
Not sure I would use the word ‘mercurial’ to describe the Hitman. He seems very quiet and thoughtful in interviews.
Caveat, I had to look up the ‘Definition’ of the word so I might have missed your ‘Connotation’.
