Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Now that Kyler Murray has officially been released he is reportedly going to meet with the Vikings immediately. It seems likely he will sign with them as they have the best situation for a QB with the skill position players they have. I guess the only question is if they guarantee him the starting position, which I assume they would, I don’t think he’d sign to be a backup to McCarthy. Murray reportedly would sign to be a backup for the rams according to this article. Aaron Jones is coming back to MN after agreeing to a paycut. That is good, though I do think Mason will get more carries than he will next season. I also think Jones will get pretty much all third down snaps as he’s a great blocker and receiver. Hopefully he stays healthy.
Assuming they sign Muray, the Vikings still have some needs at this point, where they need to make some decisions are at the interior of offensive and defensive lines, shocking I know. I’d assume Redmond will be a starter on the dline, but what do they with the other two spots? Rodriguez was pretty good in a backup role last year, playing around 50% of defensive snaps, they also have Ingram-Dawkins who they drafted last year, he played mostly ST but did play around 25% of defensive snaps. I don’t expect they’ll go into next season with them as the starters, maybe Rodriguez is penciled in but they are definitely going to need depth, I think there is only one other dlineman on the roster, my guess is they sign and draft a couple players.
They’ll need to decide what they’re going to do at Center. They have Jurgens and a couple young guys who haven’t sniffed the field, as well as Brandel, who isn’t a Center but played there out of necessity. Neither Brandel or Jurgens had performances you would consider above average but neither were Elflein level bad. I’ll be curious to see what they do there, my guess is they want someone more established at making protection calls and identifying blitzes considering the QB will either be someone completely new, or the young and inconsistent JJ.
The rest of the roster is probably mostly set other than depth, particularly at LB. We’ll see if the geriatric decides to retire at the safety position, but it seems as though the team likes Jay Ward’s development and they also have Metellus as a starter and Moreau as depth. They’ll need more though. Personally I’d like to see the Hitman back for one more year, even in a reduced role, plus the Wrenage meme’s are hilarious. At CB it seems they’ve settled on starters with the new guy Pierre, Rodgers, and Murphy, but if a high end corner should drop to them in the draft I think they’d take him, other than that they could use some depth with playing experience. The rest is all just depth needs, could use a backup swing tackle, another edge rusher will be needed after they trade Greenard, draft a TE to take over for Hock after next season, figure out WR3 etc.

So we don’t have a starting QB according to KOC…
Political double speak.
O’Connell said he had a “great conversation” with J.J. McCarthy this week about his offseason. As for the starting QB, he said, “I don’t believe we have to name one of those currently.”
So right now we don’t have a starting QB as I see it.
‘“I don’t believe we have to name one of those currently.”
I parse it as ‘I am not going to NAME one right now, that doesn’t mean we don’t know who it will be come Sept’.
Dang right. Barring some injury or major screwup, he knows.
His coach speak is the worst. There’s never a point in listening to or reading it. It all means nothing.
I’ve had a couple of beers so help me figure this out.
As I recall KOC has said several times the number one quality he values in a QB is accuracy. So we are about to start his fifth season as HC and we don’t have a QB on the roster that can throw the ball accurately.
And his second desirable trait, was for a QB who was willing to. stand in the pocket, wait for the play to develop, and then deliver an accurate throw knowing he is going to take a big hit. Don’t believe we have that either.
What is going on?
I think he said the number one trait he valued was decision making, but I could be wrong. Still, yes, he wants a guy who can deliver the ball on-target with regularity. He’s a pass first offense kind of a guy. If you don’t have a guy who can throw the ball well, that offense is gonna suffer.
So what the hell is he doing?
Trying to save his job by getting into the playoffs???
Hey, according to some thats the ultimate end goal of a team is just make the play offs and then luck to the super bowl. And its better to try and do that then build a team that could be a steady conference contender to actually get to the Bowl. So we should be happy we win only 9-10 games and sneak in a WC game. Thats a fun season right?
I think he’s doing the best he can with what he’s got. The Vikings dug themselves a $43M cap hole last year, so now it’s time to pay the piper. That $1.3M contract is the reason Murray is here, and also it potentially turns into a long term deal. This year is a bit of transition year. That said, the offense is mature and full of talent. The table is set for Murray, just as it was set for McCarthy last year. We’ll see if Murray can take the reins and make the offense go.
Have you watched Murray play ( I’m sure you have so don’t mean that negatively), he plays sandlot football
KOC runs an offense that the scheme gets the receivers open, he just needs the QB to read and then throw it. He doesn’t need sandlot.
Like putting a drag racer into and Indy car.
I agree, but I also know that sometimes you just have to make do.
But never, as you know, go against your core beliefs.
Good analogy. This signing makes no sense.
Nothing he says means anything. He’s the worst.
Saw this little factoid:
The Vikings will play 11 games in a dome, and only 6 games outdoors in 2026.
That should benefit Murray as well as our kicking game.
Hmmm…
Per Google…..
I’m not sure any of that accurate, the Brett pick certainly isn’t, it was 2009
Lol.
noticed the 2012 thing when you mentioned it.
asked Google again – literally the same question.
trust nothing
“Welcome to the party, pal!”
UGH!
Rickie Fowler bogeyed the 14th hole to fall to 1 over par, and losing ground to the leaders. Looked like he was ready for the fork. Then he birdied 3 of his last 4 holes to finish the round at 2 under par. He missed several birdie putts including one from 7 feet, then on the next hole from 3 and half feet. All said and done he’s 3 shots out of the lead playing very ordinary golf. Tees off at 8:40 a.m. tomorrow. He needs to shoot 5 under to be in the mix in my opinion. We’ll see if he can up his game a little.
So the least surprising signing of the start of the season. Murray now has to hit the books hard. Has to learn the offense and also be able to spit out the plays confidently. This is the hard part for him. Skull sessions learning the scheme, and the intent of every play. What are we trying to do here? Who are we trying to influence? What defensive alignment is optimum. What adjustments are built in? Hot reads? Protections? Sight adjustments? Possible route adjustment options by the receivers? Lots to learn.
‘Murray now has to hit the books hard’
But that is not who he is. I wonder if the Vikings included that in the contract like Zona tried to do but didn’t work out too well.
Supposedly Murray insisted on a ‘No Tag’ clause so they couldn’t use a ‘tag’ on him if he had a decent season.
Well, he is signing with a team that has all the ingredients necessary for him to cook. it’s smart demanding a no tag clause. If he plays really well, I’d expect there will be some suitors for him in 2027. Vikings will have spend some money to keep him.
I have heard all the stuff about the clause that required so many hours of film study per week in his contract (which was eventually removed) because the word on the street was he was playing video games more than preparing to play. I don’t know if he has grown up, and realized that he can never stop investing in his growth. I also don’t know how much mentally he can handle.
Is he QB1? Will anyone ask KOC about that?
QB1?
He was offered to be the backup to Stafford for one year and then he would be the starter next year when Stafford retires. He turned it down to be a starter.
You think he came here to be a backup to JJ – no way in hell.
I didn’t know he was offered anything by the Rams. There was talk among the pundits about this as a possibility, but are you saying the Rams actually offered that to him?
Yes, offered him the backup to Stafford.
I did not know that.
‘Allegedly’.
I LOVE the murray signing, he will make a GREAT backup qb….
Too bad we dont have a better qb so he would be the backup
From ESPN:
EAGAN, Minn. — Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has signed a contract with the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced Thursday.
The deal is for one season, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Murray now will become part of a QB room that includes former No. 10 pick J.J. McCarthy.
The Vikings will pay $1.3 million of the $36.8 million Murray had already been guaranteed via his contract with the Cardinals, who agreed March 3 to release him. The move was not official until Wednesday, but the Vikings had decided weeks prior that Murray would be near the top of their priority list in seeking competition for McCarthy.
They were also interested in veteran quarterback Geno Smith, but the Las Vegas Raiders traded Smith to the New York Jets before he had a chance to reach the open market.
Schefter reporting the deal is done. 1 yr vet minimum
yeah, I guess the deal needed to include a no Franchise Tag clause so the QB can pull a Kirko and make bank next season.
if it is league minimum, I do not hate it.
But I see Murray doing just enough that the vikings are afraid of a Sam Darnold thing, overpay for Kyler, trade JJ, and JJ wins a SuperBowl before the Vikings even get to another NFCCG failure.
League minimum was likely the overall reason the Vikings did it.
I understand it, but all I see is a midget running around while McFragile watches.
Huge winter storm this weekend, huh? There’s 12-18″ projected here between Sat. and Sun. Sounds like fun.
We only get 2-9 here? I’m bummed, I was hoping for another day off work.
Yuck.
Another map shows the worst of it extending even farther south, too.
The NOAA website I look at is saying 7-11 on Saturday night for us.
Just Saturday night?
They haven’t put a total on Sunday yet
Holy crap. They just added a total to Sunday. An additional 10 to 16 inches. That’s insane!
Yikes. That is insane. Crazy weekend ahead. I stocked up on beer.
I think this will make some more cap space for the Vikings.
how are we looking on comp picks thus far?
Nailor
Allen
Hargrave
But Allen and Hargrave were released….so that means we get nothing for them, right?
As I understand it, but I have been wrong before.
Not sure how it would equate to cap space either.
Correct.
Comp picks are awarded in the following year for UFA that leave for another team.
So who would that be for us this year so far?
Nailor I think.
Vikings logo update:
Haha! Hilarious.
So welcoming him into the building equals signing him?
Seems a bit premature, and as The Teacher says ‘Premature is never good’.
Two minutes is all the longer I can stand the screaming.
She screaming at you to ‘hurry up and finish’??
#grin
“Trending in the right direction”
Not unless he is on the phone with McVay.
I will say, while Kyler is not my favorite choice, JJM and him are much better than JJM and Brosmer or JJM and Wentz.
true.
Low bar there…………
true
Agteed. But bringing him in at the vet minimum, having him be backup, and get him in 3-4 plays a game in a “wildcat” would be nice
Let’s be honest, whoever gets the starting job will be injured for half the season, either all at once or here and there. The other guy can start the other games, and hopefully they don’t overlap their injuries.
A solid plan.
KOC:
You think they brought him in to be the backup?
So the Vikings went 9-8 last year.
Can the Vikings do much better than that with Murray?
I doubt it.
All depends on health. If we didn’t have to go with Brosmer or a half-dead Wentz, that would have been different.
So that’s hard to say, since wins are a team stat, which you seem to have a hard time accepting/understanding. What Murray “can” do is improve our level of QB play. I think he will do that. Not monumentally, but certainly he’ll provide better play under center for us.
MOAR POLITICS!!!
That’s the way to do it.
McFragile has played what, 8 games out of a possible 34 over the last 2 years.
That’s the definition of injury prone.
We live in a society where people are programmed to expect instant gratification.
Is that Edge? Is this a joke account?
Crying people make me uncomfortable, especially if it is a woman and even worse, when it is your female boss. Someone asked an innocent question at lunch the other day about what her boyfriend thought about something. That led to her saying that he was gone and started to cry.
The dude had no class at all. They had been dating for 4.5 years and had lived together for at least a year. She came home from work one day last week and he was gone with all of his stuff. He left a note saying that it wasn’t working and not to call or text him, just email. She had no clue. He had made no indication that they were having problems. They had just gone on a trip to Mexico with his step-brother and sister-in-law last month. He just gave her a commitment ring about 5 month ago. She watched her Ring camera footage and she saw him walk up to the cameras and put tape over them. Once he got all of his stuff out, he took the tape off the cameras.
I feel like I should start a reality show called Breakroom Drama. I hear so much gossip in the break room.
Yeah, I don’t like crybabies either. That guy sounds like a dick though, a freaking note, are you kidding me?
Also, I thought you retired to sell used books?
I am semi-retiring in Sep. I was going to fully retire, but instead after a long discussion with my boss, I’m just going to work one day per week for my accounting job and spend the rest of the time
readingselling books. They need a little help for awhile at least and that will give me some additional spending money.I’ve never heard my boss cry before. She is one of those very intense kind of people and is more likely to yell than cry.
Sounds like she dodged a bullet with that guy, better now than later.
‘Crying people make me uncomfortable, especially if it is a woman’
Agreed, I certainly was ‘uncomfortable’ when I came home from the gym and found The Teacher laying on the bed crying because she was in so much pain. Once we found out about ‘kidney stone’ it made much more sense though.
That’s why you don’t date someone for 4 1/2 years. After a few months if you know, you know. What did she expect, a long drawn out apology?
Tell her I said to make better choices.
If only there was something she could have done to certify the commitment………….
Guy is a douche, obviously, though.
All of this.
Another doctor with no bedside manners…..
Man if you think that is blunt you should have grown up with my dad…or meet my wife.
A committment ring? After dating 4.5 years?
My wife and I were married after dating for 6 months, married after we’d been dating for 9 months.
Heard something few years back about short players that struck me as funny.
think it was in the nineties cowboys drafted a linebacker ( Coakley I think) and he wasn’t very big.
A reporter asked Barry Switzer didn ‘t he think he was kind of short for a linebacker.
Switzer responded – we didn’t draft him to be changing the light bulbs in the training room.
Plenty of short linebackers/defensive backs to find success on an NFL field
Zach Thomas, Darrell Green, Antoine Winfield, Sam Mills….
I know. Just found Switzer’s response to question funny.
He was a helluva recruiter.
Hey guys. Stopped by to read reactions to the Kyler Murray rumors. Personally, I’ve never been a fan. I can see that I’m not alone.
Hi Kathy!
I would prefer most anyone else as a QB for this team. Even Kirk.
Happy to see Teddy still helping out a team. Sad to see it is the lions.
100% on the Vikings QB. I’m not sure why Teddy didn’t go back to coaching high school. I’ll have to check in to that, I will, of course, keep an eye on him with the Lions.
‘I will, of course, keep an eye on him with the Lions’
Don’t forget your friends here please.
I would never abandon you guys! We’re well past a decade of friendship.
He still wants to play football
I guess. He always said his long term goal was to coach at his high school alma mater. Maybe what happened last year was a turn off.
Yeah idk, he’s got a lot of years left to live, not many left to play though so I’m guessing he’ll squeeze all he can out of his career before retiring for good.
I do understand that he loves football.
Honestly, Murray can probably achieve decent success here. I’ll say what I said regarding McCarthy last year. The offense is mature, and we have all the skill position players in the world. The O-line remains a bit of a question mark, but Murray has plenty to work with, and he can of course, make plays with his legs. He has the table set for him. All he has to do is not muck it up.
Well, after what happened with Sam Darnold, I guess anything is possible. I’m still pretty disappointed about it.
Yeah… that was bad. But I think Murray has the talent to make the offense go well enough. It’s his brain I worry about. Not sure he can process everything he needs to quick enough. That’s my only real concern.
From what I’ve seen of him, he isn’t capable of the most paramount aspect of being a QB, throwing the ball accurately from the pocket consistently. He can run around and make off script plays but he can’t regularly deliver the ball accurately from the pocket.
He will ad lib it up, Dobbs style, which could be fun to watch.
I wonder if KOC will learn his lesson and just let KM play that way instead of trying to make him a system QB.
I think Kyler just has to play his game at this point. A tiger isn’t going to change its spots as they say. That said, KOC can run a scheme that takes advantage of his strengths.
Well, Coach ‘tigers’ have spots too.
True
That is a valid concern.
Not crazy about it, I’d rather they bring in a QB that is more mature and a better fit for KOCs offense.
Agree. Maybe he’s grown up a bit since those early days when everyone said he was immature.
I’m not a fan of it.
First, I don’t think he moves the needle in KOC offense and has a history of being lazy.
Second, I don’t think he helps JJ one bit, other than letting McFragile watch another year, and Murray is already talking with other teams about 2027. He’s just looking for a stop gap.
I don’t see how he helps McCarthy either.
McCown is there to help McCarthy. QB1 has no obligation to help QB2 succeed.
Wonder what the height is of the average Skoloholic.
6’ 4” here……
Me, MT, Mjolnir and Edge skew the average.
Yeah Surley too. Im 5’9 which is average male height in the US. Kyler is above that. He’s short by NFL standards but he’s not short but literally any other standard.
Oh so you and Kyler can be part of mjolnir’s royal rumble and then wear massive sombreros with Chips n Salsa in the middle at the after party!
Dont tempt me with a good time
lol, you’re a good sport
🍻 🍻 😏 😏
Bow is also tall iirc.
seem to remember Lifer being over 6 foot.
Lifer has probably shrunk some after years of repairing air compressors with the illiterates at the balloon inflating factory
Kinda miss his insane rants. Idk which were more crazy. His undying (potentially homosexual) love for Kirk, or his off the charts liberal views.
He’s funny. A bit unhinged (as am I), but funny.
Little over 6’5″
6’3″ here
Used to be an inch taller.
Shrinkage…
When do you start shrinking? I haven’t started yet, I did grow another 2” after high school so maybe I’ll shrink later than most.
i was 6’4″ at 25 years old. 5’10” when I graduated high school. So very late for me.
I am probably just slouching a bit, and not doing marital arts anymore while sitting at a desk too much has me at 6’3″ now.
62 years old. Guess it was gradual?
^^ likely means ‘martial’
marital arts are more difficult to master
Amen.🙏
I did mean Martial arts. But my wife has possibly henpecked me into shrinking for sure.
I’m still waiting to hit my growth spurt.
5’11”
Welp you cant make fun of Kyler because you are basically the same height
I’m likely the shortest in the room.
5’5″
But I will make as much fun about his height as I want.
He’s playing against Athletes where the normal size is above 6 feet tall.
He looks like midget. Can’t see over the line.
He absolutely does look like a midget on the NFL field
He’s 5’10” so I’m still good to make fun
6’2″
6’1, not sure that qualifies as tall but not short
6’2″ last time measured. About average around here I guess.
Thats wayyy above average US Male height.
I help skew the average. 5′ 6″.
Finally, another short king
Officially 5′ 11″ when I joined the Army, probably a little less now.
5′ 11-3/4″ in high school, also probably less now.
I was actually 5’11 and 1/2.
You and I can just call ourselves ‘almost 6’.
6’2
you and brad bring us down
Gone their whole lives without knowing what’s on top of the refrigerator……
That’s me. I just say that I’m more down to earth.
I CAN SEE FROM MY TIPPY TOES THANK YOU VERY MUCH
A dorm fridge doesn’t count.
Damn bro lol, brutal
Sorry but I couldn’t keep something that good to myself. lol.
Nor should you, im saving that one for later lol
my wife was not impressed that i let the top of the fridge get so dusty and messy
less impressed than your ability to change a car battery?
Given your name I’m also not impressed that at your size, your fridge isn’t spotless on top.
disappointing
6’4….I used to be taller when I had hair.
For all of you sub-six footers out there….remember size doesn’t matter….
Women want taller men more than men want shorter women – ScienceDirect
I like a woman with small hands, when wrapped around certain things it looks much grander
My wife and I are the same height. She didn’t wear heels at our wedding.
You guys are all short.
AI tells me the average height of an American man is 5’9″.
AI tells me the average length of a dick is 3 inches…I think it just says stuff to try to make people feel good.
5’11”
198 cm
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I DONT SPEAK JAPANESE!
GTFO you Canadian asshole.
It’s not that you are a Canadian, the medical field prefers that screwed up metric system.
Took the words out of my mouth lol
The medical system defies belief, cholesterol in mg/dL (non SI), sodium in mmol/L (SI), WBC cells per mm^3 (non SI). If I reported tumor growth in inches I would have my license revoked.
175 cm
5’8″ for me, unless you include the hair, then I’m 5’8″.
Wrenage is ageist.
I will make this my new profile picture…
My wife told me I am forbidden to make a joke with the premise of Ozempic curing lesbianism on Facebook.
I have been censored…
Ha! that’s funny, and likely true to some extent.
Send to KOC.
Yep, we is screwed.

At this point, I wish.
Verily. They’re creepy. Like Clowns.
What about a midget clown? Also, if you’re scared of midgets, are you just going to listen to Vikings games next year?
Midget clown? Sheer terror
I’m going to watch the games, but I’ll need something to calm the nerves… even more than usual.
Midgets don’t scare me, in fact I have kind of always had a certain fantasy about a young midget lady, but clowns can go to hell, they are the creepiest.
Midgets also don’t scare me.
If I were a trillionaire I’d orchestrate a midget royal rumble.
just me and like 15/20 of those little fuckers running around.
and I’d just dominate
LOL, I would pay to see that!
The after party would also feature midgets walking around wearing massive sombreros with Chips n Salsa in the middle…….
Young midget lady you say? I need to check that out, might help with curing the midgetphobia… might also help when Kyler wins a SB with the Vikings, but we know that’s not going to happen.
Yup, clowns are just super creepy.
Being kicked out certainly had an influence on my joining the Army.
I was being kicked out because my older brother and sister didn’t move our when they graduated HS so dad was looking at having 3 of us in the house.
Of course once we moved out the rule went away so my two younger brothers were not effected, in fact I was the only one that had two months to move out.
Sure, I miss the day the Ben decides to write a summary about. Now all my unknown brilliance is just floating about the cosmos.
‘You lag, you lose’.
Rec for being an entertaining post
Also,
Kirk still sucks
Rec for consistency
I don’t get the joke?
Honestly, I don’t either
JJ McCarthy shared/posted it
Yeah I still don’t get it
I take it as “Minnesotans (uber liberals) are after you and your American freedoms. JJM by reposting that it’s cool to love America is opposed to the liberal hate of America, thus like Trump, JJM is standing in the way and protecting the freedoms you enjoy. This is really why the liberal Minnesotans hate ‘Nine.'”
I dunno, I could be wrong. Usually am.
So by reposting a tweet/X means that JJ (QB) is shielding America ala Trump????
He’s standing up for America, a la Trump.
In the “joke”:
liberals = Minnesotans
Trump = JJM
I dunno
Idk either, but that picture of Hughes with busted blood stained teeth while wearing the American flag and smiling like the cat that ate the canary is iconic
Forever iconic. Will (and should) be featured for years
Love that photo. I’ve seen people walking around wearing T-Shirts that display that photo.
So at least he gets the joke???
5 fingers, not 5 years old, actually same thing
It is based on a Trump quote. I know that much. But I still don’t see the joke.
Little battle brewing at the ballot box in our little county over the stupid worthless windmills. I’ll keep my opinions to myself, but the county commissioner quoted in the article happens to be my commissioner and he should be taken out behind the woodshed and given the belt oops did I say that?
Dawson County voters to decide on structure height limit amid windmill debate
‘stupid worthless windmills’
I think you managed to let your ‘opinion’ slip out.
I’m not gonna lie, when I read little battle brewing my first though was that you were talking about a brewery
So VikesVerified eyes are not to be questioned. Got it. Blind fandom is the best.
Kyler Murray is so good that the Cardinals are paying him $37 million to leave so they can play Brissett or a rookie.
And yet he’s better than McCarthy…
Makes me wonder why. There are a crap team with a terrible offense.
Why would WE want there castoff?
This is a little ahead of my skies, but just a thought.
I think taking Murray is a bad thing for JJ.
He will more than likely be the starter, and there’s already a fair amount of chatter that with him we are now a serious contender (who knows).
Now, if instead we took someone like Jimmy G, even Cousins, they might win a QB competition, but won’t be here all that long. JJ can then still learn and be like Love was behind Rogers. Take over later.
But with Murray, if he does well and given his age, JJ is gone.
I’d rather see Kirk at $15 million for a year than Murray for 5 bucks. Kirk can come in and be the mentor he was supposed to be the last 2 years.
Exactly. Much better fit for our offense, will only be here a year at most two, and would be a good mentor for JJ.
the Murray selection is not good for JJ in my opinion.
I agree, Kirk for a year with JJ actually practicing and learning from a professional QB would be good. Won’t happen tho, you get the midget and you will like it.
At least I have hunting in the fall.
That’s not unreasonable.
McFragile’s third season. He has to shit or get off the pot. If he still needs spoon feeding from a baby food sized jar that is a him problem, not a team problem.
No, don’t believe ‘he has to shit or get off the pot.’
If Murray comes here, he ain’t going to have time to do either.
Maybe he and Kyler can shit together?
So… that whole “McCarthy era” thing sure didn’t last long… huh?
I just think Kirk is a better backup for KOC’s offense than Murray.
I’d rather Wentz come back than Murray. The only thing Murray has going in his favor heavily is the contract requirement.
Cousins is a far better starter in this offense than any other QB out there. He was having an MVP season in it, before his Achilles injury, with 18 TD’s in 8 games. He is the one guy with a fast enough brain, and an accurate enough arm, to actually execute that adaptive route running scheme KOC wants to run.
I don’t think Cousins will be back though, because the Vikings have signaled they are getting their fiscal house in order, and they are looking a few years down the road, more than trying to win the Super Bowl this year.
So you agree he would be better than Murray. For once, we are on the same page here. I doubt he will accept what he’s going to be offered though from any team. If he wants a legit chance at a run, Minnesota makes the most sense for Kirk and Kirk makes the most sense for Minnesota, at the right price anyway. If Kirk simply wants more money, then he can go play for the Raiders.
Cousins wants to be recognized for being the QB he is, rather than accepting minimal offers for his services, while the team looks for someone else. He knows how good he is. If the right situation isn’t out there, he’ll just sit it out and wait. No reason to uproot his family and start over somewhere else, if the team isn’t committed to him.
Yes, we agree that Cousins is a way better fit for KOC’s offense than Murray. Murray is still a very talented player though. If he starts here, the offense will be pretty good IMO.
I’d be Cousins will (would) take a contract here in the 12 – 14 mil range.
So fast a brain he throws short of the sticks on 4th and 8
Yes, the only possible place he could have gotten the ball to before being sacked. He hit the one guy he could. So, yes, fast brain and accurate arm.
It was a joke, I’m not looking to restart the whole Osborne was coming open discussion
Yeah… there was zero ability to get that ball to anyone other than Hock on that play. Folks aren’t just being real if they claim otherwise.
Not really. Would just hedge bets, and try to get my cake and eat it too.
First, if Murray comes in and plays well, JJ is done here.
But if someone comes in like Cousins who knows the offense and even if he wins a competition and starts, he will only be here for a year or so. Thus, JJ still has time to further develop and start like next year.
And I think Cousins is a better QB to learn from than Murray. Murray and JJ are totally different players. Unless you want JJ to learn how to not study and just play video games instead or maybe ask for uppies so he can get his water bottle off the counter.
Two thought.
One, and this is from my baseball days, if you are having control problems ( like QB’s with accuracy issues) you learn to correct it by throwing hundreds or more pitches in practice – not in games. JJ has control issues.
Second, and this is something KOC said in 23 following Cousins injury. I paraphrase – we need for Kirk to get back in the QB room (even on crutches) as he’s the only one who really knows what the offense looks like standing 8yards behind the LOC with lineman chasing you and defenders flying all over in the secondary. None of the coaches can do that.
He would be a great mentor for JJ.
That sounds like a personal issue. I may not want to share.
I think KOC knows McCarthy isn’t QB1 material, and likely never will be. He is Heinicke with a stronger arm.
Then why did he draft him? Bo Nix was out there.
Ask KOC that question…..
Well, there was a lot of “upper level” hype for McCarthy. Harbaugh said he was the best QB he ever coached, and Brady said he was the best Michigan QB ever. Whether they just wanted to give McCarthy a leg up, or they really felt that way I don’t know. I thought Nix was the most NFL ready QB in that draft class. I said that several times leading up to the draft. He is still developing, but he’s shown he can play in the NFL.
Dude just turned 23. I think development-wise he’ll be fine in the long run. My concern is his health.
Murray’s health history is seemingly just as bad.
I think KOC saw a lot of flaws in McCarthy last year that he knows aren’t going away anytime soon. He would have to become a completely different player. He may develop, he may not. RGIII didn’t. Lots of folks thought he would be a HoF QB. He just fizzled out, and never became anything. One thing is for sure. KOC knows exactly what he has with McCarthy, and he’s going out and getting another QB to replace him. That should tell you all you need to know.
Yeah, injury prone. Can’t save his job with Brosmer as the second option if/when JJM gets injured.
Looks like Jones noticed some of the same tendencies I was trying to explain and it only took him 2 years to realize Minnesota people are toxic.
EVERYONE especially sports fans are wishy washy, it’s not just a minnesota thing, a-aron
eehhh, Minnesota fans, especially the local ones, are on par with Jets fans. Being somewhere that doesn’t have a local team means I am around multiple fanbases, and the Minnesota fans are quite frankly the worst.
YOU’RE THE WORST
jk you’re the best. sometimes.
95% of Minnesota fans are just differing levels of Kodiak. He’s the extreme, but the rest are still on the spectrum.
You gotta stop thinking people online are what normal people think or are like.
I am around plenty of actual people as well, and there is very little difference when it comes to Minnesotans/Minnesota fans.
Lol
I think to program the AI bots on social media that just try to cause problems and complain about everything they just upload recordings of Minnesota fans’ conversations and say, “be like this guy”.
I like AJ, but he old. If they use him sufficiently conservatively, it will help.
I took a look at Porky’s…
I always liked that flick, haven’t seen it in a long time
Oh Miss Honeywell…
Definitely one of the top five films of my tender teenage years.
So nice to see a teenagers doing good things, not destroying things and causing mayhem.
18 year old and his 16 year old brother were closing the car wash where they work when a Meth addict threatened them with an ax. Younger brother took the ax away while older brother (who is joining the military and training in MMA) took the perp down and held him for police. And of course the perp has a bunch of ‘priors’.
In Florida teens have a chance to do stuff like this while in Idaho there are not enough meth addicts to go around. #grin

It is interesting how the bad elements are filtering down to smaller and smaller towns.
The druggies are even taking root in rural areas now.
It seems down here in Florida we’re a little less kind to the criminals than many of the bluer states up North.
You routinely see our Sheriffs on TV telling folks that we’re not going to be kind to criminals here. I heard one say something like “if you attack one of our officers, we’ll contact your next of kin and let them know where they can collect your remains”. Not an exact quote there, but close enough. I love that our police forces are adamant about removing the criminal element, and protecting citizens.
I loved the quote from a Southern Sheriff when they asked why they had a shot a ‘Cop Killer’ more than 20 times. He replied ‘Because we didn’t have more bullets’.
Real rural southern justice right there.
Yep. Folks feel safer when they know their police officers aren’t going to be politically correct buffoons. Shoot the bastards.
Pretty much every other state in the union is ‘less kind to criminals’ than blue states.
In some states the teenagers would have been arrested for assault.
In Commifornia if you defend yourself you are pretty much guaranteed to be arrested in most counties, a few rural counties still have some common sense.
I think the Vikings should play this song at Murray’s press conference.
It also should be the new Skoloholics Official Cover Song.
My wife is pretty short and the first time she met my parents was on a road trip. This song came on and she had never heard it. Initially she got really excited that there was a song for her, and then the song continued and my dad and I got a pretty good laugh. That was almost 15 years ago and we still laugh about it.
Ask and you shall receive. Here is a photo of Harry showing up at 2026 training camp. By this point, the dementia is so bad, he has forgotten what sport he plays…
Oh my goodness, that looks like the aged love child of Harrison and Billy Bob Thornton, good god that’s hilarious.
At this point, I genuinely believe the Vikings have a spreadsheet that shows Harrison Smith is worth X amount of goodwill and dollars from the total rube fans and just keep bringing him back for PR purposes to mask the fact that they have no real Super Bowl aspirations.
He’s just a Greatest Hits Album.
I can see HS have coaching value, but he is cooked physically.
You may be right, but if they feel that way make him a coach! Hard to burn up one of your active roster position if he is totally cooked. But he played well at the end of last year
He can do spot duty here and there. He is best up around the line and directing things. Even when he was younger, his coverage was suspect and he genuinely sucked at open field tackling.
There were many times where he was directly in front of a receiver YACing to the endzone, and HS just ushered the guy down the field, running in front of him, looking over one shoulder, then the other shoulder. I would get so mad at him.
Like, just stop and try to tackle the guy, Harry! If you miss, you miss…
He’s great near the LOS. Still can blitz from anywhere, great at batting balls and in run support. I’d use him in a Joker role similar to how the Cards used Deone Buchannon or Denver used Brian Dawkins later in their careers.
I can see that.
Name of your sex tape
If only the Vikings had drafted someone in the first round a few years ago to potentially take over him. Did anyone ever figure out what his mysterious non football injury thing was at the beginning of last year?
Yeah, Harry should really send gift baskets to Cine. HS had like an entire second career because of Cine.
That’s honestly kinda true, if he didn’t completely and totally suck they probably re-sign Bynum and let Smith go, but alas, Cine was ass.
I never liked it when they gave HS a $60 million contract. It boggled me. I mean, he was cool and all, but $60 million for a safety when we just went into prevent when leading anyway, with an offense that loved field goals more than touchdowns.
It was another PR move, I decided.
I also remember the shock when Bynum started playing. I hadn’t seen a safety move like that in so long, that I didn’t know how to process it.
He also looks like he’s reporting to the local rec center for the senior citizen intramural basketball season
Skol!
FTP
I had AI glimpse into the Vikings front office this morning…
FTP Auto Rec.
Hopefully McVay comes through and saves KOC the embarrassment.
But don’t the Lambs run a similar offense to us? If he doesn’t fit here why would they think he fits there?
Could it be that the Doomers are not as correct as they think they are??
I’m pretty sure this isn’t a real report and if he doesn’t fit McVay’s system, I don’t care.
This report comes from a story Pelissero put out saying Murray was talking to 3-5 teams via zoom calls, and this could be a situation he could be interested in. He said he spoke with Murray’s agent, and they are thinking about this.
Its probably poppycock put out there by Kyler’s reps to make sure the Vikings guarantee him a starting job
