Wow, the team decided to make a major splash prior to the trade deadline yesterday, as they went out and obtained one of the better tight ends in the league from a division rival. The Vikings pulled off a trade with the Lions yesterday, a trade that shipped off a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick in exchange for TE T.J. Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick. Basically, we move back a couple rounds in 2023 in order to obtain a top tight end.
I think the Vikings front office did a magnificent job of filling a need, and improving the offense without causing any future damage to the cap. The Vikings will take a cap hit of a little over a half million dollars for 2022. Hockenson is due a bit over $9 million next year (5th year option of his rookie deal), but I forsee the Vikings and Hockenson signing an extension before next year. It’s nice to see that the front office taking steps to improve the team when in a great position at 6-1, they aren’t content to just stand pat. Great work by our young GM. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Exactly. Plus all the time that our law enforcement officers have to spend on it when they’d rather be fighting real crime.
That’s the whole point to legalization. Spend limited tax resources where they do the most good.
I would be more comfortable with it if they would come up with a better way to prove somebody is currently intoxicated than field sobriety tests, both as it applies to people driving under the influence and working under the influence. I really don’t give a crap what you do at your house but if you smoke the marijuana at home and then get drug tested a couple of days later at work it will be positive. You haven’t really done anything wrong other than fail a drug test but you didn’t put anybody at risk. Since there is no good way to prove whether you were under the influence at the time, then your employer will have a hard time not firing you for the failed test.
They can test levels, but it’s difficult to know for sure because THC stays in your system for so long.
Yeah. So a cop can perform SFSTs and tell if you are impaired, but what is an employer supposed to do? If you are performing a task with safety implications, the employer needs to ensure you are not impaired but really has no way of doing so other than documenting behavior and drug testing for a drug that stays in your system for weeks.
I agree, there are definitely obstacles. Thing is, we can put a man on the moon, but we can’t figure out a way to test to see if someone is currently impaired? I’m guessing that if we made it a priority, we’d come up with a solution.
I would think with the number of states legalizing it will happen. There will definitely be big money for the person that is able to make it happen.
Laws don’t control those kinds of things. Insurance companies do. Even if it’s legal, you test positive, you gone because nobody will insure you, ever.
For sure, it just makes it harder to deal with from the employer side. People are stupid and think since its legal they can use, even with a company drug policy as long as they don’t come to work intoxicated.
Employer side is same as insurance co. You use it you are fired for cause. Same as they can require no tobacco

The war on drugs has been an abysmal failure. We have a horrible record of incarcerating an insanely high % of our population, which is counter-productive in so many ways, I don’t even know where to start. Prison should be reserved for violent criminals and people who are a danger to society.
I disagree. Prison should also be used for rehab for drug addicts also. so they can become productive tax payers and quit using tax resources. Some prisons for some offenders, other prisons for other offenders, which I believe is the way it is now in many of them.
I would have no issue with a separate min security prison for drug rehab. 2 years of rehab and probation for 10 years w/drug testing. Fail, back in for 2 years.
That’s stupid, a vast majority of people who are addicted are employed, functioning members of society.

Chris Reed, he was pretty successful for the Colts last year. I’m not saying they should replace Ingram, but he’s the weakest link at this point, and they do have a viable option behind him, so he’d better step up his play or he’ll find himself on the bench, IMO.

Not sure, I just think it’s something that the coaching staff will look at if Ingram doesn’t start progressing. I don’t think they should do it yet, but I think that if he doesn’t show improvement prior to the playoffs, we could see a change.

I think in general the o-line play is down across the league this year, so the Vikings being better in relation to other teams may not necessarily mean they are that much better. They are obviously improved but the same level of play from them this year could have them 5 spots lower compared to the league last year for example.

Well, good news, the doctor’s office called my wife to prep her for her upcoming surgery. They are going to have her do her MRSA and COVID test on the day before surgery, next Monday, in Billings. Hence the likelihood of the surgery proceeding according to plan has improved significantly, as by then she will be 10 days post onset of symptoms of SARS-CoV2.
Bad news, we insisted on being first case of the day so she has to get up at 3:30 and drink some Gatorade and then shower with Hibiclens so we can be there bright and early at 5:30 ahead of the 7:30 start time. Gonna be a long day for her.

I honestly don’t know. Back in the day I assisted with hysterectomies they often were done in a little over an hour. With the DaVinci robot assisting I don’t know if that speeds things up or slows them down.
