As of this writing, the Bills are dominating the Patriots. The halftime score is 17-7, but it isn’t nearly that close. The Bills defense is smothering the Patriots offense. The second half will likely be much of the same, but I’ll be snoozing by the time that happens. We’ll see whether I’m correct.

I’m not doing much today. I’m doing everything that’s been asked of me, though.
Our corporate email server went down sometime overnight and it’s still not fixed. I’ve been wasting an abnormally high amount of time all day and getting ready to cut out early.

I unexpectedly had a good day at work yesterday, I took a ppt presentation to the CEO of my local hospital and outlined how we need a new MRI scanner made by company X. The background is that they are leasing a horribad scanner by company Y and losing patients to other hospitals, because the CFO is chummy with the company that leases Y. CFO told chum I wanted an X and they said oh get a Z it is just as good. Z is HQ’d in Shanghai and has a reputation for service problems.
I figured I had a snowballs chance in hell.
After my presentation, he said we are going to get X.
Surprised me but good news. Until the CFO talks him back into Z. Oh well I laid it out there.
Best part is if they get X I get an enormous financial kickback and a Porsche with their logo.
Sometimes I am concerned that the statement which is obvious sarcasm will be misconstrued as truth by some, and really want to put @@’s on it.

Been watching “Peripheral” on Prime. I haven’t read the book…it is a little mindbending for me and I feel like I haven’t got it all figured out yet.

I watched a few episodes but never really got into it and I’m a fan of most everything Bateman has been in but yeah, that didn’t do much for me.
I started and stopped watch twice before, one bored evening, I forced myself to binge the first 3-4 episodes, and I was hooked. But I agree it’s not a series that hits you right out of the gate.

I actually helped coach my son’s team this year, but they’re 7. All I did was help herd cats. Had a lot of fun, though, just running with them & doing push-ups whenever they scored a goal on me.

I’m proud that I have gotten him to the point where he prefers baseball and football over soccer. I consider that a major accomplishment.

He never asked, I never mentioned it. That shit is a full-time job, and I had no desire to get immersed in it. I love baseball, I’m SO glad he does, too. I coached his baseball team, had a blast, we had a really good team & they all showed great sportsmanship.
I coached football, too, but didn’t care for that as much, I probably won’t do it again.

Hockey and fotball can be brutal in youth sports, i wouldn’t push it. Can’t type worth a shit either.
I do not think there is any reason at all for a kid to play tackle/contact football before the 7th grade. Unlike baseball and basketball, you not really learning eye/hand stuff much…its pretty much a waste and exposes the kids to unnecessary injuries.

I have quite using the embedded gifs. Just do an image search and copy the link, then delete the unnecessary stuff after the file path. The selection across the interwebs is much better and you can see the whole gif.

This week he was talking about how during halftime he and his assistant ST coach drew up the play that ended up springing Wagyu for his kick return TD. They showed the players how they wanted the play to work and their assignments on a piece of paper, and then ran the play in the 2nd half without ever even practicing it as a team.
Piggybacking on Freezey’s comment about tailgating, is it rude to pull up to the pump to dump trash even if you are not getting gas? I recently had an experience where I had a bunch of trash so I just pulled up to the pump real quick to dump it since the trash is right there and it was a two trip kinda deal as I had a bunch of stuff. Anyway as I’m doing it I can hear the guy waiting behind me swearing about me. I do need to go inside to get something so I decide I’m just gonna go ahead and leave my pickup at the pump (which I do feel is rude if you aren’t pumping) since this guy’s being a prick because I took like 90 seconds to dump some trash. When I get back outside he’s still there and as I get in he’s yelling and cussing and flips me off, so I just smile, waive, and go on my merry way.
I guess in my experience I try to do it surreptitiously. Sometimes when we are leaving town for a few days and don’t want the house to stink of garbage I haul a bag to the same place we always gas up and toss it there. If someone started screaming at me I’d be mortified.
I did have an instance years ago where a lady was studying the near pump at Costco after she was done pumping gas and I decided I wasn’t waiting any longer for her dithering around and pulled ahead to the far pump. As I got out she said – nice, you couldn’t wait for me, classy move. To which I replied “go F*** yourself” and she got loud, oh nice you’re a real man and I said yeah I am and you best be going along, but remember to go f*** yourself. That was exhilarating. You can just guess she had Oregon plates.

I told this story on here before, but I’m going to do it again.
This wife and husband were walking on the bike path. You can tell it is a minneapolis bike path by the bike shaped sign on it.
About 20 feet away is the walking path. Also clearly marked.
I went to pass them and even gave the courtesy call of “On your left” as I went by. Her dumbfuck dog the size of a football decided to take off at a dead run right in front of me. Almost ran it over. Instead I got a nasty rope burn from the retractable dog leash across my leg.
I untangle my bike and I’m pissed. This lady starts going off at me.
I tell her she’s on the bike path and she says it isn’t and I need to share the road. Her husband gave me one look this whole time. Basically it was FML, and then he proceeded to study his shoes the rest of the time.
I look down at our feet, and we are literally standing on the bike symbol.
I pointed this out and then just left. Probably should have grabbed the husband and took him with me.

As a dog owner that whole scenario just makes me wince. Makes the rest of us look bad. You better believe my dogs have always known when they here “the voice” (of anger) they’d better plop their ass down. Those retractable leashes should be outlawed as well, people inevitably let the dog play out to the end of the lead.
My choco has a six foot leash, which I let him off when we are alone in one of the parks, but always has an e-collar on. By now he knows if he sees a person approaching or dog approaching to just come straight to me and sit down, waiting for the leash.
But those stinking little dogs are almost always aggressive. If they come running up unleashed I let go of Tuck’s leash, and if their owner does the ol’ oh snarling Charlie you think you’re so tough you just want to make friends don’t you I say my dog will snap his neck if he bites him…he has no innate aggression but he will defend himself, and that’s on you, not me. I’ve seen my dogs get bit one too many times by the little dogs these morons own.

I try not to get too uppity, but people who walk or run on the bike path are morans. Sometimes I get really close and yell “on your left” to spook them off the bike path
I just use the trash containers next to the entrance door of the store…avoid the pumps.

In this scenario he certainly overreacted, but don’t you have a garbage can at home? I know I’d at least be surprised to see someone at a pump just dumping a bunch of trash.
It wasn’t like bags of trash just a bunch of stuff like wrappers and soda cans/cups/bottles, you’d be surprised how quick stuff accumulates with children. I was not near my home don’t like trash everywhere.
I do it all the time when traveling. I hate clutter, especially garbage.

he had some receivers drop some passes after he was able to scramble and evade a sack and that’s just frustrating as all get out.
I didn’t watch too much of it, but I saw at least one drop, I also saw basic dump off to Stevenson that were really inaccurate, he had to adjust and make a really acrobatic one handed catch on one, then tried to make another one handed catch but couldn’t quite haul it in.
I know a guy who really wanted to fire Zim, hire Greg Roman as the HC (Ravens OC) and draft Hurts.
I’m not sure about the Roman as HC call, but I nailed the QB draft.
I’ve wondered for a long time why Roman has gotten basically zero attention for a HC job. I thought what he did with Kaepernick alone was pretty impressive.

I don’t see the Jones situation as the same as Wilson. Yes, he had a “moment” on the side lines but in his presser after the game, he was the anti-Jones with his comments. He basically acknowledged his frustration and said he (mostly) and the offense let the defense down. It was almost like he read the Wilson post-game presser playbook and intentionally did the exact opposite.
Rarely see Jets or Pats in Minny, hard to speculate.

Since purchasing a Volvo, I find myself wanting to drive 10 mph under the speed limit, put my blinker on four blocks ahead of the intersection I’m turning at, and straddle both lanes as I serenely listen to Vivaldi on the Harmon Kardon.
I drive fast no matter what I’m driving.
Unless one of the boys (or girls) in blue are nearby, then I keep it to 5 mph over the limit. If I go the speed limit, they’ll be suspicious that I’m doing something illegal. I would if I were a cop, I’d pull everyone over who did the speed limit, especially those who drive under the limit. These are the people with hundreds of fentanyl pills.

Nice. I get that there were a lot of unknowns when everything started but some people went way too far. I have a fool proof way to ensure I never catch it again though. Never take another test. No positive test = no covid.
I have one a little fancier than that at work, that has been fitted to me, that I have never used but had to wear for thirty minutes while doing various exercises in a room filled with salt water mist to see if any breached the mask. I also have a VOC one I used for laying down the epoxy in my shop. All I can say is I would not relish wearing one of those for a transatlantic flight, there is definite work in breathing and they get damp and sweaty fast.

I’ve done the brake check before, if I’m alone. Otherwise, I just slow down more and more until they back off. I’ll be a total jackass & slow down to 20 in a 45 if we’re on a road where they can’t pass. I’m the same as you, I’m always going at least 5 over, usually 10 or more. There is no reason to tailgate me.

I’m with ya’. Drives me crazy. If a deer would run out & I had to slam on my brakes, Dilfer Dumb butt tailgater would slam into me, and then I’d be really pissed. If kiddo was with me when they run into me, I may do something really bad to that person.
I’ve gone away from brake checking, found that a big wave through the rear windshield usually gets the message across “Yeah I see you big fella, we’re all in this right now.”

For me, the reaction kind of depends on the context. If there’s clearly traffic immediately ahead and/or I’m already going 10 over I’ll start with the big wave and then usually find the next point to move over and let crazy-pants on through – only to get stuck behind the car I was behind.
If I’m not in the left most lane and still getting tailgated, I usually speed WAY up because people just speed match so once you get ~100 feet away they’ll find someone else to speed match.
If it’s not a highway, I tend to go for brake checking or the slowdown route.
if it’s a highway/freeway and can move over, yes i typically will as well.
like i said, since i have been carrying, i don’t want any sort of issue at all. just minding my own business, no need to get riled up.
but in this instance, it’s a 2 lane road, so really nowhere to go…
Ahh, yeah that’s tougher with the conditions. On a dry & empty road, sometimes I will slow down and put on my left blinker to encourage them to just pass me. Probably not a great idea right now, though.
If the wave or slowdown doesn’t work, sometimes I just move my mirrors so I can’t see them and continue on safely. Just block out that crazy energy.
Swerve everywhere & pretend that you’re drunk. They should back away.

Wouldn’t putting on your left blinker make them think you are turning just ahead? Where I turn off the highway onto our private road there is no “turn lane” so I signal a quarter mile in advance I’m turning left and if there is no oncoming traffic I will cross into the oncoming lane and then onto the shoulder so the massive dual trailer semis behind me don’t have to slow down.
I usually do it where it is obvious that I am not turning, and I flash it rather than just keep it on the tempo’d clicking.

It kinda was, it was on the highway between Loveland and Greeley and I was behind her for a while, she maintained her speed (I assume cruise control) and was driving very strait, I assume it wasn’t her first time.

Yep I just slow down until they back off and then wait awhile to speed back up so they get the point. The best is if it’s dark out to turn your driver side mirror out as far as you can. It will shine their headlights back at them. Also useful for people who insist on driving behind you with their brights on.
This is an interesting tip I hadn’t heard of before you brought it up earlier this week.
I do my best to ignore them, set my cruise and just wait for them to pass. Once in awhile they get close enough to annoy me, then I just bump the cruise down a couple of mph at a time until they’re forced to pass. Usually some lady on her phone.
Man, I don’t know if it’s a MT thing or universal, but the DOT has bright green flashing lights now on their plows, they were out in force this morning and trust me you’re not missing those lights in blowing snow. Plow was going 35 mph on the interstate on the approach to the river crossing, the bridge has no shoulder on either side so no way was I going to try and pass him on an icy passing lane. There were cars between the plow and I as well as behind me and we got one of those winner winner chicken dinners decide he HAD to get out ahead of the plow only to exit immediately after the bridge on the main drag. I had fantasies of him getting t-boned by the swaying wing plow blade although that would suck for the plow driver. I think he had about a foot between his driver door and the concrete guard rail on the left and maybe a foot and a half on the right side between him and the plow blade, and the plow driver was squeezed as far over to the right as he could get without plowing the concrete abutment on that side.
When Benjammin and I meet in the lot, we’re going to throw down and have a slap fight.
I haven’t slapped anyone in a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time.
I’d slow down to 10 under, they’d probably flip you off but when that happens I just smile and waive at the person, it seems to piss them off even more than responding in kind.
I like to blow them a kiss when they flip me off, too. It always sets the mood.

if it’s a tailgater on an interstate, and there really is nowhere for anyone to go, I have a tendency to make it a little harder on said tailgater and “turtle race” with another car just to annoy…. just have them flash their lights to get me to get out of their way and I’ll stay there for a few miles if I’m not holding up non assholical traffic.

Yeah, I’m excited. They also are looking at the steering arms and the radio. ‘Tis been a great week. Wife is taking one of the kiddos to the doctor to have his finger checked out that he hit on the floor late last night and may have broke it too. Overtime here I come. Diesel being down to only 5 bucks a gallon helps though.

It will definitely be BC. I refuse to go to the other place in town after a few shady billing issues I’ve had and horrible customer service trying to straighten that out. His pinky finger is swollen between the knuckle on his hand and the first knuckle so maybe just popped something but I didn’t actually see it this morning so I am going off my wife’s description. It swelled up a little last night right away but ice and tape seemed to make him comfortable.

I remember once upon a time buying a pickup (actually our old 2011 F-150), and the parking brake was way too loose, wouldn’t hold the vehicle at all. I called the service department and told them it needed adjusting (this was two weeks after I bought the vehicle), they said bring it in today and we’ll fix it for you.
When I went back to pick it up they directed me to the cashier. $85. I asked her why it wasn’t covered under warranty, she directed me to the old crabby service guy whose job was to blow people like me off, he said it wasn’t a warranty item.
I did learn my lesson, now I always ask lots of questions ahead of time. The RBF I got from my wife when I told her it cost $85 could have turned me into a pillar of salt.
Lesson: Don’t buy a Ford.
