We’re only a few days away from a huge matchup against the Packers. This game will be vital to any remaining shot the Vikings have at the one seed, which is a Lloyd Christmas chance at best anyway, and could be vital to the 2 seed as well. It’s also nice to knock a hated division rival on their home turf. It isn’t often you head into Lambeau feeling confident, and I wouldn’t say that’s the case now, but it’s more confident than I’ve felt in a few years heading over there. I say the Vikings win a close one, maybe 28-24 or something like that. Dalvin could have a big day, as could JJ or any of the other play makers. I expect to see the Packers try to run a lot, which could obviously vary pending Watson’s status.

What’s the story on Salem Sue? Was she a seniors art project back in the 70s or something? Any data on how many tourists she brings into New Salem?
The funny thing is I don’t think of central ND as dairy land.
Salem Sue was built in 1974 for $40,000. The project was sponsored by the New Salem Lions Club in honour of the local dairy farming industry. The statue stands 38 feet (12 m) high and 50 feet (15 m) long. It sits on School Hill near Interstate 94 off exit 127 S and can be viewed for several miles.
$40,000 seems amazingly cheap. She looks very solid, although for all I know she is light as a feather. She is an important landmark on my trips across the state. My “hometown” claim to fame was they had Buffalo National Park turn of the 20th century which “saved” the species…later that park became the military base and the bison were shipped off all over the world. About a dozen remain. Funnily enough those initial bison came from Montana.

I introduced my 2 boys to chili dogs last night. Bar K Cheddar dogs, and Hormel No Bean chili.
Older one loved it, younger one had nightmares.
I typically do Ballpark 8-pack hot dogs (Franks, not Beef), homemade chili (mine has beans) and melt some shredded cheddar then top with fresh onions and a little yellow mustard. They come with a nightmare-free guarantee.
Chaos is worse instead of better, not my son in law’s fault. Deliveries missing stuff and then find out store can’t find missing piece (computer wrong or incompetence, who knows). Also, still finding unexpected issues. He took this whole week off work to do this, so he won’t be done now, will have to just be weekends to finish.
That stinks. Projects ALWAYS run longer than expected, you just never know what’s going to go wrong.
At least the price is right!! Hopefully done by Easter or at least Mother’s day. Look on the bright side, you will have your beautiful new kitchen way before the Vikings win the Owl.

Loving it. It was 81 yesterday. Today rain is on the way though and has cooled way down. I have been getting in lots of outdoor activity. Hiking, quail hunting, crane hunt, deer hunt, golf. Still working though and getting use to getting stuff done here. Need to find local places to mail, ship, copy, shop, etc.
Nice. We still have snow and ice on the ground here, but for the first time since the storm it will finally warm up enough to melt. I hate winter.

It’s actually kinda’ fun for a while. Snow shoeing and all of that stuff is a blast, so is ice fishing. It’s starting to get old now, though. By February, I’ll be completely sick of it. Icy roads, bad drivers, cold weather….it gets old.
That’s what I like about living here. We get a little snow and it typically melts. If I want to go snowmobiling, ice fishing, etc just an hour or two drive away.
I had 60+ winters of that. Been there done that. Trapped, icefished, snow machined, hunted. enjoyed winter every way possible. Now it’s nice to enjoy winter at 70 degrees.
Don’t even get me started on bad drivers, and it doesn’t even have to be bad weather for them to be everywhere, especially worse since Covid lockdowns.
Going back to Kodiak in spring?

I’m fixing it up in order to sell. Already have a contract on new patio home. We have time, patio home owner wanted 60 days to move, but it just makes it more difficult for son in law and I’m not functioning very well not knowing where anything is and having multiple rooms torn apart. He finally got the issue with the kitchen counter tops resolved, so at least by the weekend I’ll have a functioning kitchen (although floor won’t be done yet).

Bought an XBox Series S last night. We wanted to be able to play Madden, and I can see myself getting back into a couple other games that I used to play back in the day. Got Madden 23 & played kiddo. First time I’ve played Madden in probably 15 years, so much fun.

I can tell you that my 8 year old grandson’s favorite game by FAR on my XBox was/still is at 13 Forza 4/5. I have the fancy driving seat pedals steering wheel shifter setup. He still mainly likes bashing into other cars on the tracks but I can tell you that game is a tough mofo at full realism settings, you can’t just go full throttle full brake on a lap of Nurburgring in a BMW M4, believe me.
However, that requires buying the seat and the (in my case Logitech) peripherals. Well worth it in my case.
Lately I’ve been playing the old Assassin’s Creed Black Flag game and Limbo/Inside. The latter is a puzzle based game kinda creepy you can see playthroughs on XBox, deceptively simple appearance of the game.
Really the skies the limit, you can read reviews of games and compare to your son’s interests.

The S is digital only. it comes with 512 MB of memory, you can buy a 1TB external memory setup for $200.

You know, I anthropomorphize the poor doggos but I swear he didn’t answer to Kane. Any time I said Kane SIT he acted like he was deaf. First time I said Bubba are you a bad boy? he came over and nuzzled me, no master I’m not a bad boy.
Now he responds to it immediately.
He really is an average choco, which is to say he is unusually smart for a dog. He does slobber a lot though. Last night Bubba and Tuck were wrestling in a snow bank when we walked after work, Tuck’s head, face and neck were glistening with saliva when he came in like a greaser from the 70’s. I groom them after the walk and it was like combing hair gel.
That reminds me of a dog I had in high school. He slobbered up my sister’s cat like that when it was about 20 below. My mom yelled for him to go inside so he dropped the cat on the sidewalk and went inside. The cat actually lived. It got lucky. My dad got home shortly after and parked outside because he was going to get ice fishing stuff ready in the garage.
