Today is my Friday, as I’m taking the day off tomorrow to play nurse for my wife who is having rotator cuff surgery. I have all kinds of financial documents I need to get her to sign while she’s under the influence of the various narcotics they’re sure to use. Wish me luck!

From MSN, Michael Irvin has been pulled from doing coverage after an alleged incident at a hotel. According to Irvin, nothing happened other than a chat in the lobby and a handshake.

Agreed. I’m not sure why family members of sports figures think it’s appropriate to publicly air their grievances in that way. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any other “place of employment” that would tolerate that kind of bullshit. I guess it’s an extension of the crazy family member screaming at players from the stands/sidelines, which in today’s society starts at a very young age and, sadly, has become the norm.

It is Girl Scout Cookie season which the Lady of the House loves to support.
I have no problem with that, usually.
But she doesn’t eat many of them.
I eat some but many boxes sit around until next season comes around.
I had to figure a way to take care of 6 year old boxes while she brought home 12 new ones.
She will buy more as friends/coworkers/misc cute GS get her to buy more.
I hate throwing away good food so I have been slipping them into birthday packages and such.
That is 6 one year old boxes not boxes that are six years old.

I was at a concert in AZ with a guy who had never been to a metal concert before. We were standing in line to buy a beer and he was like, “This guy in front of us vest is fucking cool.” I told him if you see a guy with a cool vest or shirt just tell ’em, so he did and they talked about the vest with the band patches etc… fast forward to after the concert we were waiting outside the gates because the headliner’s drummer is a buddy of mine. Whenever they come to the US we try to get together and drink scotch after a show. While we are waiting for him to come grab us an INSANELY drunk guy walks by and my buddy goes, “Cool vest bro.” Drunk fat guy stumbles over throws his vest on the round and starts saying, “You wanna fight?” And, “I have two daughters you fucker!” Clearly just fucked. But my buddy was like, “You train bro, I train. You better back the fuck up or I will kick the shit out of you.” He said that like 4 or 5 times. Luckily a security guard in a mini-van trying to go home for the night drove by and was like, WTF? I said, “My buddy just complimented his vest now he’s trying to fight him.” The security guy goes, “I just woke that guy up, he was passed out by the bushes with his dick in his hand.” lol
but in that situation, if my friend would have unleashed a few blows, he warned his has. This video he just punches him while the dude wasn’t ready for it. Again, still deserved it but also a sucker punch.

Not a fan of a regular pizza from one of the main places. If I had a choice of what to eat, a regular pizza would be very far down on my list.
I prefer my homemade pizza over the large chain restaurants pizza.
Our family likes to use Stonefire flat bread and everyone makes their own pizza. I do sometimes make homemade crust, but the flat bread option is good and it’s a decent serving size for everyone’s personal pizza.
Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns, etc. are edible but that’s about as far as I’ll go. I like local small town pizza joints
There’s a place in Bismarck called Bruno’s Pizza that is really good. On the rare occasion we order pizza, that’s where we order from.

United Way and Unicef have always been a joke and a scam. Of course I am somewhat biased because way back in the day at one of my first jobs, they basically forced me to donate to the United Way. That soured me from the start.
My current employer pushes them pretty hard, I was the committee rep for several years. Disappointing that they’re that poor at disbursing funds.

A lot of these big charities can do some good work. I’m always afraid of the “work” they do that is not as heavily advertised. They sometimes are as bad as a government with the stupid stuff they do with money.
In the Army my on base housing burned down, my Lt took me to the Red Cross and they gave a whole $100 to replace my uniform (minus boots). They didn’t care about everything else I/wife/kids lost. The Privates/SPCs in my unit collected and donated more.
Yeah I never donated to the Red Cross again.
Goodwill has something like 3500 stores and annual rev of over 6 billion. They are a nonprofit in name only, they are the walmart of thrift stores.

It happens but it’s “not normal”, it’s ridiculous. Most research suggests you should look for charities that spend 30% or less on overhead (i.e. 70% or more of donations go toward goods/services that support their mission).
Maybe not normal, but far from uncommon. I didn’t say it was right, it’s just not an earth shattering surprise to me.

When I get a ‘donation call’ I ask the caller what percent actually goes to charity (they are required to reveal it) and the answer is always 12%. I tell them ‘thanks but I will donate someplace where my $$ is better served’. They normally reply that 12% is industry average.
Sad when the call is from an agency supposedly supporting police/firefighters/military homeless vets/kids/etc.
I get a lot of those calls. I tell them right away that I never donate over the phone, but if they’ll email me info, I’ll look into it.
I don’t donate directly to any charities. I always donate through our church where I know what they are doing with the money and I am more likely to approve of what they are doing with the money.

Came from 9 man South Dakota football that didn’t have a real history of success. But was I think 6’4ish and probably 215ish pounds if I was guessing. He was told he was a better prospect by the TE coach that also recruited Goedert. But I think he’s 6’5/6’6 now 250+ hoping to run a 40 in the 4’5/4’6 areas. So being 6’4 and the best athlete on the team he played RB in HS and his cousin was his QB who is probably 5’5 in HS, so basically handing the ball off up to him haha.
I might not be remembering right but I think the bigger D1 offers were more of a walk on opportunity. I remember telling to go where you feel the most wanted.

Speaking of UND…I shared a story a month or so ago about “kidnapping” some of our upperclassman frat bros when I was a freshman at the U, and taking them on a road trip to our brother frat at UND (this part of the story was about my US Gov’t – World Class Wrestling – Dope Smoking conspiracy theory).
Another excerpt from that trip:
On Saturday night, our UND hosts held a big bash. I don’t remember much about the party but at some point late into the evening/early morning I passed out in the middle of their main party room in the basement of their frat house.
Meanwhile, one of our UND hosts did a late night run to KFC and brought back a bunch of chicken and various side dishes. I woke up the next morning lying on my back and as I started to move around on the floor, I noticed something didn’t feel right.
I glanced down to find a mound of dried mashed potatoes covering my groin. Not only that, but they had opened my zipper and shoved them into my pants as well, and then topped the whole thing off with gravy.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first or last time I passed out in the middle of a party, leading to further high jinks. But it was probably the 2nd or 3rd most memorable “I passed out and then…” stories of my young partying days.

Yeah Cook isn’t going anywhere. He’s a major cog in the offense that defense have to respect and when he gets going he’s a solid back. Yeah the $14 is a steep cost and the only option is rework his deal, extend out and lessen the cap hit to around $8. He won’t and they won’t ask him to take a pay cut.

He may need to go and I wouldn’t be upset but it’s not going to happen. His production has dropped because it’s a passing offense first and even more so with O’Connell. Could argue that’s why he needs to go but his home run ability we don’t have on the roster after him.
