Aloha, Skoloholics! I don’t like the fact that the Vikings are no longer in the playoffs, but that is unfortunately the case, so here we are. We’re already in the off-season, so we might as well continue to plan for next year. It’s cathartic for me, so hopefully it will be for you as well. In order to determine where to go, we’ll need a road map of sorts. For this, I retrieved the NFL offseason schedule from the NFL Operations website. We’ll highlight some key dates so that we know what we have to look forward to until the draft.
NFL Offseason Schedule
| Date | Description |
| 12 February | Super Bowl LVII |
| 13 February | Waiver system begins for 2023 |
| 21 February | Beginning this date through 3:00 p.m. (central time) on March 7 clubs may designate Franchise or Transition Players |
| 28 Feb-6 Mar | Underwear Olympics in Indianapolis |
| 7 March | 4:00 deadline for clubs to designate franchise/transition players – College pro days begin this day as well |
| 13-15 March | Negotiation period where teams can contact pending free agents |
| 15 March | New league year begins at 3:00 |
| 17 April | Vikings may begin offseason workout programs |
| 27-29 April | NFL Draft |
I don’t see the Vikings using the franchise or transition tags on anyone, so I doubt we’ll see anything on that date. The Underwear Olympics will be something to watch, I suppose. After that, the negotiating period prior to the kickoff of the new league year is always action-packed, and I don’t see this year being any different.

Vikings Roster Moves
The most interesting thing for Vikings fans to watch for, in my opinion, is what the Vikings do with their current roster. From now until the draft, I’ll be interested to see who the Vikings trade or release. I think they will make an attempt to add more draft picks prior to the draft, because as of now, they only have four picks. Granted, they will also get one or two more compensatory picks, we reviewed the compensatory pick selection process and estimated our return. However, I believe the Vikings will want more picks than what they have. Look for the Vikings to move on from some guys who have been around a while, it will be sad but necessary. If you look under Vikings News, you can also find our “Where Do We Go From Here?” series where we look at individual players/positions and which direction the team may go. The most recent was Harrison Smith.
That’s what we have to look forward to in the near future. The defensive coordinator is in place, so hopefully they start making some moves so they can build on and improve on what they began in 2022. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!
