NLNVF comment about pretty nurses reminded me…I was walking by the echocardiogram/procedural ultrasound room yesterday and one of the sonographers was helping two nurses set up a procedural tray – I looked at the sonographer and pointed to my chest (as in is this a procedure I’m doing) and she said they were setting up for a prostate biopsy (for the visiting urologist to do) but if I wanted to participate I could, I replied yeah no thanks I’m sure my day (to get a prostate biopsy) is coming and I’ll get to experience it live and in person.
Afterwards I was in the tech area and she said that one of the nurses (a young (I’d say early to mid 30’s – young in my book) pretty nurse) had asked who I was after I left the procedure room and when the sonographer told her I was the rad she said well he can come join us any time he is hot the other older nurse turned beet red with embarrassment. I laughed and she said just to warn you to look out for M___. Of course all the ladies in my all female department heard and were laughing.
I debated telling my wife just to avoid her hearing from one of the technologists in the future but felt just by mentioning it I would be thought of as longing for some flirtation and that I somehow egged it on. My wife isn’t the jealous type but she does sometimes read more into my words and expressions than I think I mean. She thinks I have a big fat target on me because of my occupation and my general good nature and sense of humor.
Somewhere an HR representative is salivating. This was the moment they were born for…

Yeah, 9 times out of 10 she’d laugh and say, “be careful…I’m serious you don’t think you’re flirting but you can’t afford to have someone get the wrong idea” but 1 time out of 10 I’d get the, “you must have liked the attention to tell me about it”. So mum’s the word. She’ll hear about it from one of the techs eventually and then I can just say oh yah that nurse must have been drunk to think I’m hot.

So after Physical Therapy Tuesday The Teacher and I stopped for a late lunch/early dinner.
I ordered a bowl of Ice cream inspired by the heat and NLNVF and then asked the waitress if I could get that ‘ala mode’.
She tilted her head thought for a few seconds and said ‘so you want an extra scoop?’.
The Teacher was impressed saying she didn’t think most Millinials/GenX/Y/Z types had ever heard the term.
I figured a waitress was probably the exception to that thought.

No test results yet. CT scan scheduled on the 4th of August. Woke up this morning at 3:30 with cramps in my abdomen. Alarm was set for 4 anyway so, it wasn’t big deal. Cramps are irritating not debilitating.
Man oh man I love the fact that the regional scanners at the sites I cover always have same day availability. Having to wait two weeks for an opening sucks.

Hey Ben, thanks. Got something wrong with my inards. Continuous cramping, throwing up, shortness of breath, and excessive burping. cramps get so bad sometimes they double me over in pain. No idea what’s going on.

I can’t get any medical test for weeks.

Small towns have their advantages and disadvantages.
Many patients are signed up for access to their medical records (patient portal). On several occasions I hear them say as they walk by the office, oh my results are back. As in they got sent straight over from the clinic for an imaging study and my dictation has resulted out while they are still in the department.

Yeah, emergency room doc said he thought it was functional dyspepsia. My doc is running this CT scan before he orders an endoscopy.
Heh heh I can spool off about 15 items on the differential diagnosis of the symptoms of functional dyspepsia so I guess that is a safe diagnosis to suggest in the ED environment.
ED was all the rage the year I graduated MS. 11 of the 52 in my class did ED with the draw being 3 year residency, shift work with no ongoing care, and the awesome cases you would see. I guess none saw the reality of repeat offenders, drug seekers, those with no access to primary care or preventive care, and any case with any complexity whatsoever being whisked away by consultants. Oh well, love where you live and love what you do.
Hope everything is A-OK after the tests and if any questions come up I’d be happy to chip in with my thoughts.

US economy blows past expectations: 3 quick takeaways
Gross domestic product (GDP) levels came in hot in the second quarter, growing at a 2.4 percent rate that marked the fourth straight quarter of positive growth and underlined the resilience of the U.S. economy.
Core inflation falls again
Inflation has been tumbling as the Fed has continued raising interest rates, and Thursday’s figures show this trend continuing.
The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index advanced 2.6 percent in the second quarter, down from 4.1 percent in the first.
Workers are getting more productive
Even as the Fed has raised interest rates to try to take the wind out of a growing labor market to tame inflation, the latest numbers imply that workers are actually getting more productive.
Investment is picking up
Strong GDP is being bolstered by a boom in factory construction and investment stemming from huge pieces of subsidy- and tax credit-heavy legislation passed during the first half of the Biden administration, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS Act, and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

And what’s the overall inflation since Biden took office? These numbers are compared to last year. I think the 3 year inflation is like 20 some percent. Super awesome. Really helps make it easier to put food on the table and gas in the tank.

Well you’d first have to be informed and understand why inflation was high in the first place in the “first two years” of the administration. Naturally you skip that important context.
Biden is hardly to blame for inflation. Despite what Republicans say, if any president should be blamed for high inflation, it’s President Putin. Putin’s war against Ukraine, a major agricultural exporter, has pushed up prices for wheat and many other foods worldwide. Putin’s war has also caused oil and gas prices to soar.
The pandemic has caused huge supply chain disruptions that are a second big factor behind inflation. China has locked down thousands of factories, causing shortages of furniture, appliances and many other products, and that has pushed up prices. China’s lockdowns have caused a severe shortage of computer chips that American automakers rely on – that has reduced car production and jacked up auto prices. These supply chain problems aren’t Biden’s fault.
There’s a third major, often unappreciated factor fueling inflation: many US corporations have exploited the inflationary environment by aggressively increasing their prices and profit margins. Exxon’s second-quarter profits soared to $17.9bn, more than triple what it earned in last year’s second quarter, while Chevron’s earnings also more than tripled, to $11.6bn.
The Economic Policy Institute, a progressive thinktank, found that roughly 40% of the recent inflation in the US can be attributed to fatter corporate profit margins. Maybe Republican TV ads should be attacking corporate greed rather than Joe Biden.

Cousins was the most blitzed QB in the league the last 3 years. He was targeted, and teams were successful. KOC had no answers when Cousins complained about the protection on a playcall except telling Cousins “you’ll beat it”.

that’s not the point at all, or marginally. Defenses go after every QB for sure. But if you have a sporatec run game and a pretty poor screen game, defenses can then really pin their ears back and come after the QB And it doesn’t help if our WR2 can’t beat man coverage and our O line is less than stellar. Put all that together and your QB is going to get smacked more. That is just football 101.
Think we could help ourselves some here. Last year our run game was very hit and miss, and the screen game was rather poor. If we can improve there, defenses can’t just pin there ears back and come after Kirk.
If other WR’s pick it up, JJ may get less doubles and chances for people to really pop him will be reduced – one tackler is better than two.
With JJ, KJ, TJ, and JA running routes, how can they double anyone without leaving someone WFO?

Especially now that the Netflix documentary showed how much it really affected Cousins. The Redskins complimented him for his toughness after the game, talking about how bad a beating he took.
So basically the opposite of the soft bend don’t break defense the Vikings play, hopefully Flores coaches the Jets brand of football.

I think that’s what has bugged me most about the Vikings the last several years. Our defense sits back and lets every QB we face complete passes to completely uncovered receivers while applying no pressure at all, while the their defense is kicking the shit out of our QB.

One of the reasons I love the seasons is this is always about the time of year we bitch about it being too hot (fire season, grasshoppers, a/c running all the time) and can’t wait for the nice cool fall days, bird hunting etc. Then winter gets here and at some point it will be too damn cold shoveling snow icy roads shivering on the dog walks etc.

I got very lucky last week.
We hit the wilds of North Dakota, traveling to Fargo to see my friends and staying at some scenic campgrounds off I-94 in our little 20 foot Sprinter class B RV.
I bitch about the roads in North Dakota from time to time. Not that Montana with its many more miles of highway doesn’t have some humdingers but it’s fun to pick on your little brother. The roads were in epic form thanks to wear and tear plus seemingly ceaseless construction. Somewhere around Dickinson while heading east I picked up a vibration that was initially mild (I thought it might just be the shitty road surface) and it became more noticeable climbing “hills” at 75 mph. By the time we reached Jamestown I pulled over and checked the lug nuts. Coming back west, and after spending the night in Bismarck, we had a stiff head wind and the vibration was much worse, so I just set the cruise at 65. By the time we reached Glendive I thought this can’t go much further.
Figured I had lost a wheel weight. I called our local tire shop (I know the owner well through my stepdaughter) but the gal that answered the phone said they don’t work on RVs? So I called the truck shop and they said they couldn’t balance the tires but would rotate them and look for a wobble – then I could take the tire to the local tire shop.
My wife was chatting with my stepdaughter about this and she said that sounds dumb, she called the owner (Matt) and he said oh of course we can do a rotation and balance.
Dropped it off at 0745 this morning. At 0815 Matt called me and said the right rear had tread and sidewall separation with cord showing on the inside of the tire, and the left front had separated as well. Damn gougers! So now my seven year old tires are being replaced at all corners.
By the way the RV does not have a spare tire, not that a tire flying apart at 75 mph wouldn’t cause more damage than just a spare tire could fix.

A lot of PleasureWay owners retrofit their vans with a spare. I guess it would come in handy if the place you were towed to didn’t have that size of tire. I rotated the tires on that RV a couple of times myself and even my 3 ton floor jack gives little squawks when I raise it. There’s no flipping way I would try and lift it with some little scissor jack. So it is just one of those things I live with.
BTW I am a nazi when it comes to expecting my stepkids and grandkids to know how to change a tire, although they ignore me. I personally have only once had to do a roadside tire change but have noticed tires losing air probably a dozen times and typically just use another vehicle to transport the leaking tire to a tire shop, or else do a more leisurely swap to the spare in my garage if I don’t have access to another vehicle.
Sprinter vans seem top heavy to me. Of course the RV conversion has an air conditioner, awning, TV antenna, solar panels up on the roof so that contributes. The thought of keeping it between the ditches on a flat tire at 75 mph does make me feel like the pilot above.
Are those tires good for that many years? I could see the occasional use it’s not an every day vehicle but tires under load do eventually do what that one did. Had no idea it doesn’t come with a HD jack of some sort. I’d find a way to haul a high enough rated floor jack and a few wood blocks to be able to change a tire if needed. I’m just risk adverse to a fault and being stranded road side is one of my fears. I’ve had many a blow out and had to change tires on busy 8 lane freeways with half a shoulder up against the concrete barrier before. Not fun but no exit or pull off for miles and was stuck. Of course it was on the drives side so vehicles wizzing by my back a 75 mph was not enjoyable. Especially knowing half were likely texting at the same time.
Yeah my bad with those tires. I mean they looked good from the outside and only had 17,000 miles on them but you are correct, when Matt said they were 7 years old I was like oh yeah. They sat out in the sun (at least on the driver side) at our Billings place for like 5 years. The conversion makes the Sprinter heavy (I think fully loaded with water and fuel the cargo capacity is only like 600 pounds including the passengers) and I’m sure the tires take a beating. I check their pressures before and during a trip every day.
Problem with the short wheelbase chassis version that I have is there is very little room to store excess crap. You wanna pack a little Blackstone? – gotta delete the lawn chairs. Leveling blocks? – can only fit a few so you learn to drive around a site to find a close to level spot.
Like I said, some Ascent owners put a spare on the rear door but that adds to the GVWR problem – and you gotta find a spot for a decent jack. Plus have you seen the average fitness of an RV owner? Haha.

Inside you’re wishing you had a magic wand that would open the door to a tire place that could quickly check it out and make sure everything’s okay, and that won’t a) make you wait until the next day or worse to be seen, and b) laugh their asses off at another rube who complains about vibration with the crappy concrete ripple strips they call a highway in ND.
Everyone knows what a good guy my SIL is, but I remember giving him an earful once when I found out my daughter was driving (with babies in car) on two BALD tires. She got a lecture too. She said she knew they needed to be replaced, but didn’t realize how bad they were. We’re talking about a guy who could build a car from scratch. He walked by her car every day and never bothered to look at her tires. He would have known instantly they were unsafe. She learned her lesson too, and it’s never happened again.
Some mechanics are just built that way. Same way I always tell my family members “I wouldn’t worry about it unless it hasn’t gone away in two weeks.”

One interesting thing occurred to me after reading about the Hunter Biden gun charge.
If you smoke pot, you can’t buy a gun.
Especially if you have a medical marijuana card. The Feds use that as proof you are a drug user.
Under 18 USC 922(g)(3), it is a felony for an illegal drug user to “receive” or “possess” a firearm. The maximum penalty at the time of Biden’s gun purchase was a 10-year prison sentence. This is the charge that David Weiss, the U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware, filed against Biden on June 20.
Now, Biden was a crackhead, and I doubt you would find many people that want to arm crackheads.
Where this gets interesting is the term illegal drug user.
Biden bought the revolver from a federally licensed dealer, he had to fill out ATF Form 4473, which asks, among other things, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Biden falsely checked “no,” thereby violating 18 USC 922(a)(6).
People who are recognized as unlawful users of controlled substances, require evidence such as a drug arrest, court-ordered treatment, or a state-issued medical marijuana card.
So, if you are currently using marijuana, you can get up to 10 years in prison if you buy a gun, and get another 5 years for falisying the paperwork.

I saw a guy buy a case of Bud but it’s been months since I’ve seen a BL that wasn’t on a store shelf.
