League mandated changes years ago on spring training, frankly, i think ink preseason injuries are more numerous.
Im aware of the changes but id have to see actual stats on this before I dont chalk it up as nostalgic “back in my day” bs.

Believe there has also been studies, been a while since I read them, that modern athletes are so ‘over’ trained for pure stength and speed that it puts enormous strain on tendons and ligaments causing more soft tissue injuries than earlier seen.
I am certainly no authority on this (pitchers some) so you might be able to look some material up on this.
They did – and it usually spelled the end of their careers. Even as late as the early 90’s an ACL tear was considered a potential career ending injury – It was honestly AP and Wes Welker and how fast they recovered from injury that the opinion started to become ‘this isn’t a career ending injury anymore’. There were notable exceptions before then: Terry Allen – who had both knees repaired – and carved out a solid career, Garrison Hearst who had a partially torn ACL that was discovered at the combine and Jerry Rice in Week 1 of 1997.

Now an ACL tear still sucks, and the recovery definitely varies, depends on the player and isn’t guaranteed to be a success – but it’s not a career-ender.
That said – Dick Butkus was maybe the most feared defender in history and his knees were destroyed pretty early in his career and he just played through it. I’m sure lots of guys did – that era was built different.
Tarkenton talked about this and said the practices they used to do aren’t really necessary because guys work in the offseason more than they used to.
Soft tissue injuries and i’m no expert on this are much harder to “train up”. Many athlete pump up there muscles somewhat quickly but it takes tendons and ligaments much much longer to strengthen up. In the interim. pushing real hard can cause damages.
Again no expert .
I think in some regards the intense and more sport oriented training has surpassed the human body’s threshold for injury.

This is a serious question. What the hell is wrong with Darnold. JJ is playing great – that’s great. But this is practice, they’re playing 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 with ‘no pressure’ and Darnold can’t hit the broad side of a barn. And let’s face it, our secondary is not going to win any awards.
Maybe Darnold goes to number 3 at this rate.

Crime – overall crime is down and we are working with locals throughout the country for further enhancements. And by the way, Repubs tried to block the Infrastructure Bill that provided much needed relief.
Energy – we’re refrining more oil now than any time in our history while also looking to the future for cleaner energy to save the planet.
What else is there to say?
You need to make sure to point out the DEI efforts in all of that as well.
Oh yes for sure, without DEI and heavy doses of CRT this country would already be right down the drain.

I have a preference here. First of all, congrats on getting 240k miles on a chevy that is not a V-8. Impressive.
I have owned a lot of vehicles, and currently drive a Kia since I used to drive 100+ miles per day commuting and it was cheap and gets good mileage.
If I were to get a 4×4 today, my first two choices would be Toyota 4Runner or Mazda CX50.
I would also consider a Subaru and maybe get a Trump2024 bumper sticker and a Coexist bumper sticker just to mess with people.

My ’07 Taco Ma has only needed oil changes and battery replacements.
The one previous to that, ’96, was the same.
Had a Celica and then a Nissan Altima as ‘commute’ cars. Celica needed a transmission once (stick shift) but other than that both gave good service.
I had two Altimas. Both had the disposable transmission, and I would stay away.
Nice on the Taco Ma! Love those trucks.
I gifted my Altima to my nephew when I retired at the end of ’19 and he graduated collage in ’20. It is still running for him and is happy with it, no tranny problems.

That is odd, I have heard of fiscal years ending on June 30th, October 31st, April 30th and of course December 31st, but never a July 31st. Maybe he gets 30 days grace at the end of his their fiscal year.
Or he accrues it every paycheck and has hit the maximum so he won’t get anymore on the next check if he doesn’t use some now.
Or it’s his anniversary date and it goes by start date.

Just got done watching the USA women beat the French women in beach volleyball. It was a good watch, entertaining.
The ending of the women’s bronze rugby match was pretty awesome. The Vikings should sign that girl as a RB.

All of the QB highlights are cool to see with one issue.

If it’s the latter, the QB highlights really are not all that impressive to me.
There’s pressure in some of them, but yeah everything is an overreaction at this point–the good and the bad.
Knowing you ‘could’ get hit and knowing ‘no contact’ makes quite a bit of difference I think. That’s why the stats from yesterday regarding Darnild’s performance were disturbing. If that bad without anhy pressure, imagine a real game.

And JJ is a rookie while Darnold has been on multiple teams and was most recently on a team with a supposedly similar offense. Even with previous QBs, this time of training camp was lots of “it’s a new offense”, “the defense is always ahead of the offense when training camp starts”, “they need time to gel”, and on and on. The fact that JJ is looking like he has a good grasp of the offense already and is making tight window throws is promising. Shoot, Daniel Jones is missing screens at Giants training camp.
