It’s almost Super Bowl weekend. Is anyone doing anything for the Super Bowl? We really haven’t planned anything yet, not sure if we’ll do anything or not, but It’s looking like we aren’t. I dunno, the older I get, the more I only follow the Vikings. I seldomly watch a non-Vikings game, and once the Vikings are done for the season, I lose interest in the season & start thinking about next year.

Well Ben, that was because he had a bad knee most of the season. Now if it’s a chronic knee issue then 100% you’re right he should be shown the door but I trust our medical staff to determine that it isn’t and he can fully recover if they do keep him.
Yeah that’s part of why I don’t think he’s worth bringing back, he’s had injuries the last several seasons that either caused him to miss games or reduced his effectiveness.
If I were the GM I would not take the risk either personally. I just wanted to state the fact he did have a bad wheel last season kept gutting it out till the end. There’s something to be said for that.
He has lost a step, this year it was 2 or 3 steps.
If it was a bruise or slow healing sprain he should still be able to fill the C. Carter possession receiver role once healthy.

I don’t think five is stupid either which is exactly why I fully support Brad’s call. Five has had more opportunities than he deserves to tone it down, which is all that’s been asked, and he keeps pushing beyond the line…testing, testing, testing.
At the end of the day, Brad is working hard to not only build a community but also a business model. I respect that…he’s investing his own time and money to create this space for all of us. And like any “business”, he should want to grow.
But people like five not only adversely affect that outcome, they knowingly subvert it. Five , and pretty much everyone else I’ve ever seen comment, seem to like Brad. If so, why fuck him and his team by either doing or condoning five-like behavior?

Russia wanted to be left alone, was my impression.
I thought it a mistake when Hungary and Poland officially joined NATO in 1999. It was obvious that Russia would feel threatened after some time, especially after the drunkard Jelzin had been ousted and the total sellout of the country to western corporate interests avoided.
Of course those states, my native country included, could choose for themselves, which they did. But, joining NATO at that point in time was not necessary at all. Russia was in no way threatening to restore the soviet empire.
All this reminds me of the treaties that were set up prior to WWI, in a way.

How much does he get paid? Tyreek Hill is currently highest paid WR at 30 mil per season aas, signed his deal at age 28. Jefferson is 23 and a better WR. I’m guessing JJ gets something like 4/135 with a ton guaranteed, then he can cash in again at like age 26 for another huge payday.

You’d have to look at comparisons, where again Hill is the best comp. KC got a first, second, two 4ths, and a 6th for him. Again though, he is older and not as good as JJ so I’d think JJ could fetch more but at most probably a first and two seconds, maybe two firsts.

I recently watched Nightmare Alley. I liked it and thought about reviewing it, but I never got around to it. Even bought the novel.
It made me realize that instead of making an elderly Harrison Ford continue to play Indiana Jones, it might have been better to recast like with Bond. I think Bradley Cooper could do a decent Indiana Jones.
I would agree, Cooper would be good in that role. I’ve seen all of toro’s work, except the new Pinocchio he made, but Nightmare Alley was good, Pan’s Labyrinth is still his best though imo.
He’s a fun director, although he kind of lost me with Shape of Water.

I really liked the Shape of Water, I’m a bit biased though as Michael Shannon is probably my favorite actor, I was surprised it won best picture. I would watch his Frankenstein, but I would rather see mountains of madness, that sounds more interesting to me.

My take on the HOF is it should only contain people who dramatically affected the game. Stats or SB’s don’t cut it as a reason. If you say someone’s name who is in the HOF and you can’t immediately call up in your brain how exceptional and impactful they were, then they shouldn’t be in. Say the name Jim Brown or Barry Sanders and you immediately think “wow”. If that isn’t the case when someone says a name… then they can stay out.

Jared is in a tough spot for me. He doesn’t hold the single season sack record, but he is 12 on the all-time list. He never won a Super Bowl. I can never remember him dominating a game, but I do remember him looping toward the QB on a wide tangent and taking himself out of plays. People seem to like him.
I can go either way. I wouldn’t consider it a travesty if he was not in the Hall of Fame, and I don’t consider it a travesty if he is in the Hall of Fame. He’s just kind of guy to me. I honestly think about 27 percent of his popularity is directly related to wearing “69.”
People do seem to like 69. I would say that retiring near top ten in sacks is probably HOF worthy at some point and likely at some point he’ll get in.

The most defensive lineman performance that stands out in my brain is Julius Peppers playing us around 2006. He absolutely shredded us. We had three guys trying to stop him, an elderly Brad Johnson trying to avoid him…and we still somehow won the game.
This was an awesome sack, though. I still think he could have reached the single season sack record, but was denied for… reasons.

The Vikings did what they had to do in getting rid of Ed Donatel and finding a new DC. The defense didn’t impress much this year. That said, the amount of points they surrendered in the last two minutes of the half and at the end of games when we took the lead dropped dramatically and that was the single reason we went from 8-9 last year to 13-4 this year.
Flores has his hands full to make the Vikings defense something other than a liability next year. If he is able to do that though, I expect the Vikings to win the NFC North again.
I mean the points at the end of the half couldn’t have gotten much worse lol. The defense was just so damn passive.

That is a misstatement DE. Yes, the media (and you) insist only the QB wins and loses games. Thus “game winning drives and 4th quarter comebacks” are a QB stat in the media. No one whose position is it’s a team game and teams win games, highlight those stats as a QB stat. As I said earlier, we went from 8-9 to 13-4 for one reason. The defense stopped giving up points at the end of the half or the end of the game. That’s a team effort. The offense scored, and the defense did not allow the other team to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
I consider myself a middle of the road Kirk fan. If we trade/cut him, I’m OK, if we extend him I’m OK as well.
What I don’t understand is the extreme hate/love fans. Is kirk the only QB to overthrow a receiver? No, but if he does the haters be like, he’s the worst QB ever. I’ve watched a lot of football in my time, I’ve seen guys like Montana and Marino over throw their receivers, sometimes quite a few times in one game. I’ve also seen guys like Trent Dilfer and Gus Frerotte have elite games.
On the flip side the Kirkistan’s will find any reason to push Kirk’s eliteness.
The other narrative that bothers me is, if Kirk gets a lot of scores and yards while trailing, it’s garbage time stats. But if Aaron Rogers gets a bunch of scores and yards while trailing, he’s elite for his ability to comeback, even if he loses.
I am not rational in my Kirk hate. He seems like a really good dude, and was easy to root for his first season here. I paid to attend two games in 2018, he sucked in both, so I rage quit. Have not been to a game since, and will not spend a dime on this team until he is replaced.
Hope they do well, since he will be here a couple more season, but when it matters, he sucks.
He can be very frustrating to watch, however he can be a lot of fun to watch as well. I assume that the biggest issue is his contract, for most haters. I personally don’t think you can get a better QB for that money anymore.
For every Brett Favre, there is a thousand Ponders. I would be okay with starting over at QB, but I would like to see a good draft before we blow it up in the QB room.

Well… in 80 games for the Vikings Cousins has completed 67.8% of his passes for 20,937 yards, 153 TD’s and a 100.3 passer rating. That would put him in the very good to great level of play… not just good.

I still remember that day quite well. I was coming back from Sioux Falls and listening to the game on the radio. I got home just in time to turn the TV on for the kick.
The result provoked a sensible chuckle in me. Then I took a nap.
I walked away from my couch prior to the kick saying out loud, “please don’t do it Blair” knowing he was somehow going to miss it. I walked as far away from the TV as I could while still watching it.
I remember that game too, I was watching from bed and the woman I was “seeing” at the time started laughing and was like wow, how do you miss that? I told her lol, you have no clue what the Vikings are capable of.

Oh yeah you should be able to play by then for sure. New equipment releases the next two weeks. There’s some decent stuff I’ve been trying the demos for the past month. I won’t buy anything this year I’m all set but a few manufactures are putting out some new stuff that is good. Cobra irons, Callaway triple diamond paradigm driver is absolutely unbelievable. It’s for swing speeds 115+ and is a low spin design but I’ve got guys using a demo and driving it 364 yards I shit you not. I have a 85-90 swing speed so I haven’t tested to see if it improves distance on slower swing speeds. My guess is not as much but I will test it. Way more accurate for the fast guys. Rahm is using it now and just killing it.

I am considering PXG previous gen Irons once the gen 6 comes out. Did a fitting at Golf Galaxy, and they had me hitting Apex irons. While I liked them, I am not spending 2k on Irons.

I’d say no. Tomlinson sucks, you don’t have to extend JJ yet. Kirk sure go ahead and hock is a no brainer. Hunter is debatable I’d leave that to Flores to decide. I’d rather see a larger purge of vet players on defense, clear more cap and with the Kirk saving address both lines with some targeted FA and really go in to the draft to get at least 2-3 corners and a safety.
You do have to pay JJ. If you don’t than you have to pay all the old guys who you owe money to. He’s the best WR in the NFL. No doubt about it. Pay the man.
