Heck of a game yesterday for Super Bowl XLVII, as the Chiefs and Eagles battled to the end. When Mahomes seemed to re-aggravate that ankle injury when the Chiefs were already down in the first half, link courtesy of USA Today, I thought it was over. Mahomes looked hurt, but came back in and helped the Chiefs come back after being down for much of the game. The Eagles seemed to be the stronger team at first, but they couldn’t put the Chiefs away. The Chiefs offense eventually overpowered the Eagles defense, and the Chiefs defense eventually figured out how to get a couple of stops, and Butker hit the game winner with 11 seconds left in the game. Hurts Pondered a hail mary attempt at the end. Final score was 38-35.
On that final field goal drive, on a 3rd and 8, there was a questionable call. I can see the call being made, as the defender seemed to impede the WR from running his route by grabbing him. You can make the argument that if the defender hadn’t grabbed the WR, then the WR could have made the catch. I can also see them not throwing a flag on that play. That wasn’t the only questionable call. The Eagles had one go their way as well, as an Eagles catch and fumble, which resulted in a Chiefs defensive TD, was overturned and called an incomplete catch. I could also see that call going either way. Other than that, the officiating was moderately decent.
The rest of the NFL is now officially in the off-season. We’ll have some brief busy news periods, such as the free agent period, coupled with long periods of very little news. Together, we shall endure. Hey, has anyone else not started shopping for Valentine’s Day yet? Oh good, me either. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I still have lots of time. She’s laid up, recovering from her rotator cuff surgery, so she can’t really go anywhere or do anything. I get out of the meal thing and everything this year. Well, I’m sure there’s some sort of rain check situation that I’ll be subjected to at some point, but for now, I’m in the clear.

What’s funny to me is I was watching my favorite news network, and they brought in an audio segment from my congressman (Rosendale), who was at some event in Columbus, MT. Said that he was furious about the lack of information regarding the FAA closing down airspace around Havre, MT, had finally heard back from the DoD that there were radar anomalies along the Canadian border at that spot and they had scrambled F-15s out of Portland to investigate, but they couldn’t find anything with their (obviously) smaller radars and would be back when it got light out. Whether that corresponds to the “object” shot down over Lake Huron I’m not sure. The funny part was the newscaster asked Rosendale if he was satisfied with the DoD response and the Pentagon and I’m pretty sure he said either F*** no or HELL no. They ended his audio segment right then. I switched over to the other news networks of notes and they were all blissfully airing human interest stories.
I’ll play my hand but I think it is BS the president hasn’t gone on national TV to discuss the “objects” and direct some fury China’s way. I guess no one thinks it’s the president’s job to discuss the unprecedented (since WWII) overflight of our nation and downing of multiple “objects”.

I remember my college years in Edmonton, at the winter solstice sun would come up at 9 and set by 4. Was great for studying as other than random winter sports what else would you do? Of course everyone was dressed in layers, mukluks, polar bear fur mittens, etc…Come about April 1st the sun is coming up at 7 and setting at 9, it’s getting warm during the day, everything is greening up, coeds are breaking out the skirts and shorts. Was a cruel trick of nature for that to happen as you’re finishing up the semester and trying to study for finals. By summer solstice I’d be out late, sun coming up at 5 and setting at 10:30, I couldn’t wait to get off work and be outside…

Yeah…Bradshaw made 3 or 4 Andy Reid weight references in about 60 seconds of commentary. Personally, I thought it was very asshole-ish and he’s lucky Reid is too nice of a guy to call him out for it.

I think the Vikings are closing in on a decent line. The Tackles are solid. Cleveland looks solid at Guard as well. Ingram went through the rookie gauntlet and might now be ready to perform at a high level. The center remains a weak point KOC and KAM need to address now. First year in this new scheme wasn’t all that impressive to me though. KOC needs to put players in position to make plays, and figure out how to pick up a 3rd and one.

Cleveland still isn’t good in pass pro, just look at the play against NYG, the Center is total garbage and gets pushed back easily, Ingram was a pile of shit but may improve. The tackles are good but an achilles injury for an olineman is concerning. Brandel looked like he didn’t suck for a backup swing tackle. As it has been for years now though, the interior sucks in pass pro.
I think having a solid center could bolster the play of the guards as well.

I like Kirk, especially since he started rocking out with his cock out and showing some personality this season, but the fact remains he’s only made the playoffs 37% of the time, has a record of 1-3 in the playoffs, and has never advanced past the divisional round. We can debate all day long about the team around him, the defense has sucked the last 3 years but in 2018 and 2019 it was top ten and he’s had elite to good skill position players his entire time in MN. He has yet to demonstrate the ability to elevate the team around him to level needed to win 3 consecutive playoff games, let alone 4.
The whole premise at the time of signing him was,

Looking at the stats, how in the hell did we win? We had 11 first downs compared to 23 for Miami. 234 total yards vs. 458. Time of possession was 24:31 Vikings and 35:29 Dolphins.
