The Vikings interveiwed Pettine yesterday, and they have Flores in to interview today. I trust that KAM and KOC will find a good man to fill the position, I think they learned a hard lesson last year. A new coordinator will be great, but then the real work begins as the team looks to replenish their depleted supply of draft picks, manage the salary cap, and try to revamp the aging defense. It’ll be a project that takes longer than a year, but if they can at least improve the defense to league average by next year, it’ll be a massive improvement. In today’s NFL with its focus on parity, it doesn’t take long to rebuild a team. Or, in this case, a defense.

I don’t know if I can think of any off of the top of my head…and I really don’t see the Vikings going ahead with a 14m salary this year.
Bills or Miami are the only teams I can really think of.

MIA has Wilson and Mostert…Neither are on Cook level…but I think for the price they stick with them.
His brother sucks and Singletary is just a guy. Bills can get under the cap simply be restructure of Allen’s contract. Wilson and Mostert are both a bag of meh. I’m not saying either would want Dalvin relative to his salary but they were the only two teams I could think of with mediocre RB situations off the top of my head.

Kendricks use to be so solid in pass coverage what was his rating the previous year? Could be scheme. Hicks we knew coming in was a tackling machine but a liability in coverage.
Kendricks has been declining since 2020 season, he wasn’t good last year either. Its not the scheme, these guys just aren’t good.

Evans had what, 3 concussions this year, Booth an injury liability, Dantzler is still inconsistent and got benched for Shelley, who played well for a stretch but is still far from a sure thing. You’re not likely to get a day one starting CB at pick #24. Maybe they look for someone a little younger on the FA market. Have to wait and see who they bring in as DC too.

Sad. We used to go there 5 or 6 times a year between Vikings and Twins games. Not anymore. That trip for the playoff game was our first visit to the cities since 2018.
I think it’ll be our last for a really long time. We’re going to try to visit a different away stadium every year now (the few that are in decent cities), and maybe even buy tickets to the Super Bowl next year when the Vikes are in it again.

I would be down for literally all of those moves.
cap is the least of my worries.
That would leave 7 starting positions open with LB,LB, WR2, Edge, RB, FB, and S, in addition to C, NT, and DE. You’d have some cap space to sign some guys at that point but not great chance of getting day one starters though draft picks.
I would probably restructure Z Smith, Smith, maybe Cook, and cut the rest which leaves the team with about 33 mil in space and only 4 additional holes to fill. I’d also extend Hock, cutting another 5 mil off the cap to 38 mil. Of the remaining holes KJ steps up to WR2 and I’d sign a decent vet to compete with him, Assmoar to LB, and I think KOC just adjusts his scheme to more of an H-back/TE type of position rather than FB and Mundt/Ellefson can fill that role. You’d then need to fill only one LB position in addition to C, NT, and DE. I don’t see any players currently on the roster to fill those starting positions There are a couple young dlineman in Tonga and Otomewa that got some playing time toward the end of the year but they seem more depth than starters, both Centers are FAs, and Kendricks backup, Dye, sucks something awful. I’d go after an LB in FA like Pratt, Okereke, or Edmunds. I’d re-sign Schlottman or someone like him and draft a C day 2. Sign a fat guy NT and sign a DE, maybe that’s re-signing Tomlinson for the right price, maybe find someone else. Then going into the draft you don’t have any glaringly obvious holes to fill.

I should do the same but I don’t have a membership anymore. I need to get some trail cams out and get excited for elk season. Probably be about 4 months before that happens though.
Man, I probably ran 4-5 miles today. Was gonna do a light jog around the track to warm up for lifting, ended up running about 3 miles. Went down & lifted, then came back & ran another two miles, did some intervals. I had nothing going on at work, so I was there a good hour & a half.
Nice. I don’t run. I hate it. I’d rather do a climbing machine and lifting or go hiking.
I don’t like treadmills at all, so it’s nice to have a track to run on. Trails are too damn icy, so running outside is foolish. Once the trails clear up, I’ll run outside as long as it’s warmer than negative 10 or so.
Agreed on treadmills as well, they’re too short and don’t allow for a full stride.
I run on one some days for a warm up or cool down, but I much prefer the track. Any longer runs I have to either do on the track or outside.

P.S. You need to watch The Office (saw your comments below…just killing 2 birds with 1 stone). If you liked Seinfeld, which I did/do too, you’ll love the office. You just may need to push yourself through the first few episodes because it took time for me to get used to the setup and some of the characters, especially Steve Carell’s character. But once you settle in, I think you’ll really enjoy it. The writing for that show is amazing, IMO.

I would be for that. He looked bad in the game he played in this season, but last year in the 3 games he started he didn’t look terrible and you could see why he was drafted, though he looked and still looks like he could use another season on the bench.

Here’s my plan for the 49ers. They trade Jimmy G elsewhere, then they either trade Lance or Purdy to the Vikings for Kirk Cousins, and whoever is left is either the backup or they can trade him, too. Reunite Shanny and Kirk, Vikes win numerous Super Bowls, all ends well.
Jimmy G is a free agent, he’ll just sign elsewhere. I agree with the rest.

Ah yes, the good old days of delivery. Story incoming. Many moons ago when I was just a young man I worked delivering pizza for Dominos. I was new on the job and didn’t know the city that well. I was given a pizza to deliver all away across town (I think they did this to me deliberately because I was newer and because they new I had just graduated from seminary). I came to the address and the building kind of looked like a business, so I figured the pizza must be for an apartment around back. I wandered around to the back and found a door to knock on. It took a little while for someone to answer the door. Finally an attractive, in a skanky kind of way, young lady answered the door. She then yelled, it’s just the pizza guy, and at that time a guy comes out of the closet dressed only in his undergarments. They had thought that I was the cops. Come to find out it was a “massage” parlor. All the other drivers knew this and got a good chuckle when I told my story.

Whoever it was I’m sure had a happy ending. Probably a lot of guys had happy endings there. The funny thing that this town wasn’t really that big (probably about 10k people at that time) and I found out on a later trip that there was more than one “massage” parlor in town. That later trip I couldn’t find the address so I was looking up and down the street on a downtown street and another attractive girl, in a skanky kind of way, in high heels and short skirt came out of a “massage” parlor telling me that the pizza was for them.
Sounds scary. Can’t imagine folks would be willing to do a job like that these days, or at least would always be packing.
This was the late 80s and I was young and invincible so I was definitely more amused than frightened. Now a days I don’t think you could pay me enough to deliver pizzas in a town like that.
Worry about my grands. When they’re old enough to want to have outings with their friends, where in the world can they go. Can’t even feel they’re safe at the mall.

Haha would be like getting pizza delivered during college final exams…you know when you sat in one of the monster auditoriums or gyms with hundreds of other students row upon row writing the exam…although do college students still write exams…maybe it’s an old Canadian thing. I had to use the bathroom during one of those final exams, was quite the ordeal, had to turn in my student ID and the exam booklet, was noted in the exam log, had a proctor follow me to the bathroom while I dropped a deuce. Good times.

I love cribbage. We have a cribbage board that we bought from Bud Grant (at his yard sale) made out of a boat paddle and the pegs are .223 shells. Not kidding. I don’t know if I have a picture. If not, I’ll try to remember to take one.

Loved it until the snow flew, then I hated it. The traction control is shit for someone who gets off the highway, it’s useless off road. I should’ve known better. I got stuck up at the cemetery one morning on the pavement, there was just a few inches of snow. I had to call my wife to bring me a shovel so I could get to work. If I’d have had a book of matches, I might have torched it.
They’re nice, they’re just not for me. I need a pickup. It was a failed experiment where I thought I could get something more efficient but still be able to do my outdoor stuff. I was wrong.

The worst I ever got it was one guy dropped about sixty points on me over the course of two rounds. He got me on a four-card pegger, had a double-double run in his hand and a double run in the crib. Then he came back the next hand and pegged about six more and had another double-double run. No coming back that game.

Home. Walking around on her own. We have taken her out shopping a few times, gone to church. Still isn’t fully swallowing but is able to do some liquid and some foods like applesauce, mashed potatoes…etc.
Nice having her back home and semi-normal.

I actually got it within about the first two weeks I started playing Cribbage. Haven’t come close since then.
Yeah that’s similar to my experience. My father is one of the few people I know to get one (happened in a tournament) and was teaching me the game, I had the right hand and before we cut asked him if he had any fives in his hand or discard. Didn’t come up. Haven’t had an opportunity since.

I had lots of complications too, but thankfully didn’t have to have a c-section. Had the best high risk OB/GYN in the region. He was terrific. Just said a prayer for Mrs. Skolly.
