I really like the direction that Kwesi-Adofo Mensah is taking the Vikings organization. They’ve defied the norm in Vikings sports by getting rid of guys BEFORE it’s too late. Normally, local teams hold on to guys for far too long. I’m hopeful that he will have a much better draft in year two than he seems to have had in year one. The jury is still out on the first draft, obviously, but it’s had a rough first year.
Wow, lots of chatter here, on Twitter, and other Vikings sources lately about the Vikings and the quarterback position. Some folks have the Vikings pegged to Lamar Jackson, while others project that the Vikings are targeting a QB high in the draft this year or next. We all know that this is the silly season and that anything you hear is likely much to do about nothing, but you never know. If we’ve learned anything, it’s to expect the unexpected from this current Vikings regime. Hopefully we’ll have news to share soon. SKOL!!!!

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst doesn’t view getting a first-round pick as a necessity in a potentia Aaron Rodgers trade, per NFL.com. Wow, their tune has sure changed. It wasn’t long ago that they expected a first round pick “and more”, according to PFT.

Good grief. They had a “soft lockdown” at grands’ elementary school today. Police and SRO Officer called. Lockers, backpacks, school searched. Someone put a note in 2nd floor restroom along the lines of “There’s a gun in the school”. Thank God it was a hoax. Doubt it, but hope they catch the idiot that thought that would be funny. Oldest grand is a scaredy cat, she’ll probably have nightmares for weeks. This is a good school (although public, not private) in a good community.
I watched the police cam video of hero cops taking out bad guy in Nashville, running toward the fire, not waiting outside for 45 minutes like Uvalde. God bless them.
Proving once again that the best way to stop a bad person with a gun is with a good person with a gun.

Thanks for noticing the first part of my post about what happened at my grands’ elementary school. I think the punishment for these hoaxes should depend on the age of the person, whether they’ve been in trouble before, and the consequences of the hoax. For example, these are elementary kids, so I think a suspension and some type of program to educate them on the seriousness of what they did, such as meeting with local police rep, etc. If there are no consequences, they’ll keep doing it. Punishment should escalate with an adult, especially in cases where police have spent a fortune, businesses had to close, etc. where the adult has to assume some personal financial liability and I’d be OK with charging them with a felony.
Watched the swat team video….guess this is what America wants. Shootouts in schools and a reason to run down to the local gun store and buy an auto rifle and play pretend swat guy and fantasize about an intruder and how you’ll take down the bad guy.
The officers were very professional and effective at their job thankfully. So sad this is happening in our great nation.

The NFL has approved having just one roster cutdown, meaning teams will trim rosters from 90 to 53 after the final preseason game. The date this year: Tuesday, August 29.
Makes sense, allows teams to hold on to guys longer. Gonna be some busy little bees on August 29th.
1,200 players released in one day? Yeah, gonna be a mess. Probably the only guys who dress for the last preseason game are the ones being cut on Tuesday.

Last years cuts not real significant, first 2. Think last year was from 80 to 53.
Before the tweak, roster cuts would go from 90 to 75 in mid-August — and then 75 to 53 after the final preseason game, formulating active rosters with Week 1 afoot. The switch from 90 to 53 means about 1,200 players will be without a job on the same day. That’s a mammoth change in player movement as teams will scramble to one enormous pool of recently-released players, hoping to scavenge the spoils.
Surprised the NFLPA doesn’t have an issue with it.

So I was in Costco yesterday with The Teacher. While she was inspecting some random item I was standing by the cart. An older, black gentleman came up our aisle wearing a Cowboys hat.

He looked puzzled and said ‘what did you say?’ so I pointed to his hat and repeated ‘Drew Person pushed off.’ Being a Cowboy fan he was a bit slow on the uptake so he asked ‘when’. I said ‘1975 playoff vs the Vikings’ and the lightbulb came on. He smiled and said ‘no he didn’t’. I stated ‘off course he did that is why that Ref took a whiskey bottle to the head’.
So having proven the point beyond any doubt he had to pivot away from the point so he said ‘we need a new Quarterback’. I said ‘well at least you got rid of Zeke’. He nodded and started continuing down the aisle but turned and stated emphatically ‘we need a new Quarterback Now!!’

Question on all the gun debate stuff. I am very pro 2nd amendment. Own your guns, I don’t care. Though I did hear an interesting point on having a gun registration… I am never opposed to listening to opinions different than mine and being open minded about what’s purposed. So Voting is a right and to vote you have to do what? Register. I am not advocating for a gun registry but it seems to be a valid point that if you don’t have an issue with voting registration as a restriction on a constitutional right to vote then a gun registry would not be a restriction or infringement on your right to own guns. I still don’t want a gun registry BUT the argument against it can’t be it would be an infringement on the 2nd amendment unless you also thing voting registration and other voting IDs and such are also and infringement.
The background checks you have to go through are similar to your voter registration example. To require registering and telling the government what guns you have would be like requiring people’s votes to be given to the government, specifically linked to your name.
You have to have ID to buy a gun, not to vote. You have to go through a background check and prove your a citizen to buy a gun, not to vote. Comparing gun purchases to voting is not a good argument and purchasing a firearm is already more onerous.

Most states do not because it’s “racist”. Liberals think all minorities are too stupid to get an ID to vote. It is not however racist to require ID to purchase alcohol, nicotine, get on an airplane, etc.

Not necessarily any more than just affirming you are a resident. One of the super racist things the dems got mad about was purging voting records for people who no longer lived in the state. I think Nevada was a big one. They were simply removing people who they knew were voting in another state. The left didn’t like that because their supporters couldn’t vote in multiple states as some had been shown to do already, ie, somebody lived in New York but continued to vote absentee in Nevada because they were still registered there.

I know I will likely catch some return fire, but I also am somewhat in favor of limiting magazine sizes and the like…..
There’s already background checks required. More laws will not solve the problem when the current ones are not enforced. I know somebody in law enforcement who found a known and admitted felon hunting with a rifle. He even had him on video. The evidence was provided to ATF and guess what they did, absolutely nothing. That is but one of a few similar stories I have. If they aren’t going to enforce the laws already on the books then don’t write more just to claim some moral victory.
Limiting magazine sizes is an infringement and goes directly against the purpose of the 2nd Amendment which is to protect yourself, potentially against a tyrannical government.
I know…the 2nd amendment wasn’t written because the deer were coming…It is indeed to protect us from the government, and frankly more and more it appears as though we need protection from the government.

I’m a staunch A2 supporter, and I have zero problem with background checks. I actually believe they could be more strict. The problem isn’t with law abiding citizens buying guns though. The problem is criminals using guns to do criminal acts.
Another issue is a certain group of politicians wanting to erase criminals records, after a certain period of time. I believe this was the case in a previous shooting, where the shooter would not have been able to purchase a gun, but his criminal record was erased.

I am not saying you have to support gun registration, BUT either a registration of fire arms is an infringement on rights and so is voter registration or neither is an infringement. Again I am not saying gun registration is feasible, I am not saying it would be good, I am saying people need to stop wanting things both ways. Either registration is an infringement or it isn’t.
No, I replied explaining why they are not the same thing and my comment said waiting for approval then disappeared. No links or anything crazy, so not sure why it needed approval. A gun registration would be more akin to a vote, not voter registration. If you’re talking a firearm owner registration then you are more in line with voter registration but that already exists because of background checks.
There is nothing in the constitution guaranteeing the right to vote other than that right can’t be abridged or denied based on race, sex, gender, etc. The 2nd Amendment does not give people the right to bear arms, it protects the people from the government infringing on that God given right.

Like I said, that basically exists already since you have to have a background check. Other than that, it depends on how the registration is done. Are we talking a simple hop online and you’re done or do we have to go to the Sheriff and pay fees? As soon as it becomes more onerous than having some record that says you might own a gun then yes it would be an infringement. Just like voter registration simply means you might vote.

You don’t have to have a voter license. You register for free and it takes about 30 seconds. It is mostly to ensure you vote in the right state/district/etc. Having a free, readily obtained registration as a potential gun owner would not be the end of the world but it would also accomplish nothing since you have to have an ID and perform a background check to purchase a gun, every time. Now, if that readily obtained “registration” allows me to go into the store and purchase a gun without having to wait for a NICS check every time, then cool (a concealed carry permit does this). Voter ID is not a voter license and state issued IDs can be obtained and are required for more than voting.
I admittedly don’t understand the whole process but it seems sometimes they make you do a NICS even if you have a NICS number ie carry permit. I really don’t gaf so don’t get too excited about it. Oddly enough the background check was on handguns and hunting rifles but not “sniper” rifle or ARs.

In most states you are required to have a permit to purchase to buy any gun other than a shotgun and some rifles. If it were a federal law I would not have an issue with registering as a potential firearm owner.

At least in Wisconsin, you don’t need a background check for private sales.
Those guns are bought and traded freely without background checks, applications, or registration.
Biden signed an Executive Order I believe to end that. That doesn’t change the fact that having a card that says I might choose to own a firearm someday in the future would do nothing. If it is congruent with a NICS background check and then I don’t have to go through that hassle and can show it to a private seller to make them feel good about selling me the gun, I might be okay with that. I think even without a law requiring a background check a private seller is responsible for ensuring the person they are selling a gun to can lawfully own one.
One difference in the comparison is; voting registration prevents people from voting illegally. Gun registration does not prevent someone from possessing an unregistered gun. There is no benefit from gun registration, other than the government knowing who has a gun.

Brad is legit. Snow in Bismarck was phenomenal. Have a pile of snow in Menards parking lot high enough to toboggan.
The kennel we take our dog to is way out NE of the city. Almost a tunnel from the county road to front door of kennel, snow is easily banked up ten feet on both sides.
Oh yeah, there are some spots where it really laid in. If you go 30 miles west of Bismarck, they got more snow than we did here.

Guy we talked to at the kennel yesterday (earning the almost $100/day we pay for our pampered pooches) said he drove in from Lincoln (kfey?) to work and on the way in blowing snow made the drive iffy. But he did share sun was out and melting snow on roadway by noon. Said they could get our dogs out for walks in the afternoon.
Yeah, roads melt when the sun’s out, so they’re pretty clear. The snow is just piled up really high, so any little snow/wind creates a mess & shuts down the highways. They pile in quickly. You have to be careful out in the country, get into the wrong spot & you’ll be shoveling for a long time to get un-stuck.

Seems like they’re planning to use a lot heavier sets. It makes sense. I’ve been reading that some teams are starting to do that to overpower the defense. Defenses are built with speed, not size. They’ve gotten small, so bigger sets on offense is the best way to get through them.
Correct.. Plain as day with the Raven TE blocking stud we added that the running game is going to be featured. Keeping Ham was smart as he is as technical and effective as any FB in the league, not that they’re are many left. He also is very effective as a receiver and defensives are simply put in a no win situation when he lines up as a lead blocker and then runs out for a route. He is wide open 90% of the time.

Paying a RB like Dallas did Zeke or the Viking did Cook is a bad financial decision vs the value can be closely matched in the draft in days 2 or 3 or even in FA for cheap.
Now thinking that Bijan Robinson at 23 might be worth it is a silly silly idea. He might drop in to day two which is crazy based on his talent but historically makes perfect sense.
