The chatter continues regarding the Vikings quarterback position. It currently appears that the Vikings may be targeting a quarterback in this year’s draft, one who can sit behind Kirk Cousins for one year as Kirk plays out the remainder of his contract. I’m all for it. Kirk has been a durable and consistent quarterback for the Vikings, but he’s 35 years old, and the Vikings are LONG overdue to draft and develop their own quarterback of the future. Skolly posted an article on Will Levis yesterday, and if the Vikings front office does indeed think this kid is the answer, then they should do what it takes to get him.

Went through a full day training with a Callaway master fitter today. Driver, Irons, Woods,Wedges and putters. Confirmed we don’t know shit and that is ok because our games our shit…but could be better.

I have heard (unverified) that properly fitted clubs can improve your score by 4 strokes.
I have custom fit irons and it made a huge difference when I finally got them. I’m tall and swing pretty hard. I need to get a new driver still though.
The paradym driver is easily the best in the last few years right there with the Titleist TSR2. BUT….both are $600.
Stealths are meh imo for the cost there are better options out there. I would probably suggest if you want to buy now get a Mavrick or Epic both Callaway and around $299 or hit the use section and look for a Titleist TSi 2 for around $325 is the going rate.
$300 isn’t bad. I have M5 irons and have really liked them. I don’t golf near as much as I used to but I sure noticed a consistency difference. I still don’t understand why companies have different lofts on their irons. Why can’t that be standardized a bit? I think my 7 iron has the same loft as some 5 irons.
I think I might have M6’s actually but I don’t remember now. Been way too long since I hit the course.
M4’s likely and that matching driver is a good one for around $300.
I looked em up and I think they are the M5s cuz they’re red. I think I got them like 4 or so years ago now.
They’re good irons….M4 driver would be a good match at a good price.
I just take whichever putter they give me at the start. It’s usually the black one.
Having the right club is important, especially on the hole with the windmill.
You need a wedge for that shot…pop that baby softly over the top and land it on the other side.
They don’t have any wedges at the little check in booth thingy, though. Only putters. It’s a lot harder than the golf you see on TV, they get a whole bag full of clubs. Not here, one fucking club is all you get and you have to make due.

Beautiful course, can play it on windy days, and if your kid learns to play there he will learn to hit it straight.
Yup, great protection. I run down there a lot. We live up toward the south end of the course, you hardly feel the wind at all.
I used to golf Tom O a lot back when I lived up in that neck of the woods. That was 11 years ago or so, the last time I golfed.
Hit some wiffle balls in back yard, if he likes take him to range.
Yeah, we hit plastic golf balls in the back yard in the 18 minutes of summer we get up here. We’re right by a golf course, so we can get to the range easily enough.
Par 3 nice starter course. Take when traffic is down.
Or Have him Tee it up from the fairway at 150 or 200 yards out.
There is no law that says you have to use the tee box.
True, no one likes slow play, i hit a bad shot i’d get there quick and hit again.
Keep in mind that on most courses there are trees that get in the way.

I golfed a course there a couple years ago. I think it was kind of in the middle of town and I remember the clubhouse being like a community center or something. Couldn’t tell ya much other than that.

Properly fitting gloves improve your strokes?
No it’s a feel thing same with grips even. I was always taught smaller diameter grips let your hands turn over quicker (hit more left) Bigger grips slow the hand turnover down (hit more right). Really doesn’t do much of that at all. Grips should be what feels good in your hands. Midsize seem to be the best for a good feel.
I was making a goof.
It was a training so he’s teaching us how to fit others. I’ve already fit myself and over time verified it’s correct. The one interesting thing was shaft flex in drivers he proved it doesn’t change much whether you swing 70 mph (senior) or 115 mph. Saw it on robots same set up only difference was shaft flex and the results were the same. It’s more of a “feel” at impact thing but you still fit the shaft to Senior, Regular Stiff, Xtour anyway because that tends to be what feels best to those swing speeds. Tons of other stuff also. My big take away is I’m turning my driver loft down from 10.5 to 8.0 or 9.0. The lower loft reduces spin dramatically but even going down a couple degrees doesn’t change the shot loft by much if any. Less spin more distance.
That’s interesting on the loft. My driver is 9 but that wasn’t really a choice. I hit it pretty good, but I just got it from my brother when he went to golf school. It was one he had or made for himself but it got a scratch on it so he didn’t use it.
Yup the old driver charts say this swing speed hit 10.5 to 12.0 and only the faster speeds hit low loft drivers but that just isn’t true with the data you can now see from these simulators. You find turning the drivers lofts down a couple degrees reduces spin which is the distance killer and the loft stays about the same. I can’t wait to test mine set at 8.5 as I have been struggling to figure out why my driver distance and control has been giving me fits. I have the damn loft too high it’s the one thing I’ve never tried because the rule was blah blah blah this speed this loft.
I have an Epic Max driver set to 10.5
I think I now want to dial that down.
Yes, when I was young and dumb I hit a 10.5 driver, I now hit a 8.5.
As I get older might have to go back to a 9.5

So, I am looking at finally upgrading Irons this year, since I am still playing 25 year old tommy armor 845s. Issue for me is I play 1″ longer shafts (TWSS) and I like a mid-sized grip vs standard. I am also a frugal bastard so I am looking at previous years clubs. I am looking at the Rogue OS irons vs PXG and SIMs. My biggest complaint is that I cannot custom order old gear, except through PXG.
Why does Callaway and TaylorMade make that difficult?
Anyways, Golf Galaxy guy had me in the latest Apex irons. They felt great, but I am not spending 2k on Irons unless I have Kirk’s agent negotiate my next developer contract.

There are not enough medals and accolades for those guys. The only way that could have went better was if somebody was lucky enough to get a clear shot at the psycho through the window from the ground.
I’ve watched the body cam videos of both of those officers quite a few times. So brave, steady, sense of urgency, proficient, excellence. Other LEO’s are saying the videos should be used in training everywhere.
It was quite impressive to watch. No hesitation, bring the rifle up and end the threat. When the officers were searching downstairs and there were shots upstairs, no thinking just sprint upstairs and run to the gunfire. I can guarantee you those videos will be watched by all LEOs now and in the future.
BTW, I wondered what was meant by “push LPVO”. Looked it up: “low power variable optic”. Officer was saying the guy with the better gun should go first.

Officer who was giving the commands is the former marine and had 9 years on the police force too. He was also one of the first officers on the scene for that horrible bomb incident on Christmas Day a few years ago.

I think it is partially what DE says and also that the market is different this year. There are QBs in the draft that are seen as better than last year and less teams looking for one. Last year, the only way to upgrade your QB position was to overpay via trade and/or free agency. The market is just different this year, the injury concerns are there, nobody wants to do the Ravens work for them (even thought they have tried themselves) and Lamar is just expecting more than anybody is willing to give.

Morning Skoldiers, it appears to me that KAM wants to write contracts that don’t mesh well with how Cousins wants his contract constructed. One of two things will happen after this season. KAM will offer a contract to Cousins liking, or he won’t. If he offers a contract that puts the team in full control of Cousins future (flexible in KAM’s parlance) Cousins will decline it (Cousins is a free agent after this year and can do whatever he wants). He will go back into free agency and see who offers him what. If KAM decides that Cousins really should be on the team, he will have to offer a contract that Cousins will accept (no real flexibility for the team/KAM). It’s a very simple equation. Right now I think KAM will not offer the type of contract Cousins would accept. Thus I expect Cousins to go into free agency next year and leave the Vikings. He has expressed that he wants to retire a Viking, but it looks to me like that isn’t going to happen.

Lamar reportedly (according to him) turned down 3 year, 133 million. That’s basically the same money as you proposed, but it wasn’t good enough. If he already turned down a 3 year deal for over 44 million per year, why is a 4 year 45 million going to be enough for him?

I believe Mahomes running style does keep him more protected. He usually uses his legs to extend the play, not take off and head for the endzone. Lamar takes a lot of hits that are similar to running backs, and most running backs are pretty much done after age 28. So, Lamar has maybe 2-3 years of solid production, unless he changes his playing style.

I think it came down to the Ravens realized the deals handed out last year were dumb, especially the way they played out (see Arizona, Cleveland, Denver) and they’re not going to get into that nonsense. I’m guessing there is a certain amount of teams not wanting to deal with Lamar because they think unless they go super crazy the Ravens will just match so why put in the effort and do their job for them. At the end of the day though, if a team thought he was worth anything close to what he wants they would make him an offer and hope the Ravens just want to move on.

They were talking about it on the radio this morning and I haven’t verified it but they said Lamar has missed 10 of the last 36 games he should have played in and Jimmy G has missed 8. It might have been 34 games, I don’t remember, I haven’t finished my coffee yet.
Well… those are the numbers.
So whoever is on your radio is a dumb. It took my 30 seconds to look that up.
Lamar Jackson:
2022 – 12/17 = 5 games missed
2021 – 12/17 = 5 games missed
5 + 5 = 10
Jimmy G:
2022 – 11/17 = 6 games missed
2021 – 15/17 = 2 games missed
6 + 2 = 8

Yeah, I didn’t say it was a good argument, but the point stands. Lamar has been injured pretty much every year and history has shown QBs who run like him do not last. Look at Cam Newton. He’s bigger than Lamar and at 32 is out of the league. He’s also a former MVP and got his team to a Super Bowl, but no work for him. Odds are that Lamar is going to break down and will be lucky to play at a high level, without changing his style some, for more than 4 or 5 years.
He’s been injured the last two…and it was specualted he could’ve returned but didnt last year because of the contract situation.
Why not worry for Mahomes or for Allen? Same styles of play.
What about Murray?
Why does Wilson and Rodgers who are 7 and 13 years older get those monster deals?
Rodgers hasn’t been to a Super Bowl in 12 years.
Wilson hasn’t been past a divisional round games since losing the SB in 2014.

And he sat behind Flacco for the first 11 weeks of his rookie year.
Flacco was 5-5 and Lamar took over and was 6-1
5-5 and 6-1 are 11-6… too many games for 2018. I think Flacco was actually 4-5 so Jackson only sat behind him 9 games.

Not believing Nalor is or will be a top 10 ranked WR but I did forget about him and his potential.
If you feel like WR is a top 3 need I agree with this ranking. If you click on the tweet he gives individual breakdown tweets on each player. Mims and Addison are guys we should consider. Flowers or Johnson might be at 23 also which would garner a maybe.
One of my faves to draft would be Jonathon Mingo. Also like Tank Dell. He didn’t have the speed they thought they would testing but it shows on the field.
I don’t think it’s a huge priority. With signing that blocking TE they are going to run a lot of 2 TE sets and mix that in with moving Dalvin all over formations and using him as a receiver at times as well. Mix that with being able to use Nailor and Reagor and that other punt return guy we just signed whatever his name is. But we do need more depth I just don’t think we need a first rounder there with how it looks like they are setting up the offense currently.

The WR depth isn’t as necessary and it will be interesting on how many they roster given the amount of money they have into TE’s.
Well OK… Nailor played in 5 games and had 9 receptions on 13 targets for 179 yards and 1 TD. That’s good enough for a PFF grade of 91.6.
We’ll see if he develops into a WR3 or what this year.
Yeah it was limited playing time thus my pause but I watched a lot of him in college and his lack of reps behind Thielen should change. He has a year under his belt and the few reps he had he looked really promising. PFF are analytics jokers but they brought out a possibility with their moneyball stat.
JJ and KJ had more yards as a duo the last two years than everyone besides….

Thats with KJ being behind AT as well. I think the Vikings are good at WR 1&2 as well as Hock. See what kind of burner speed Nailor at a 4.5 or Reagor with a 4.47 have.

I don’t remember the Raiders so much, since I didn’t know a Raiders fan. But my oldest brother was a Packers fan and I remember every year after the draft, in the 80’s, he would say we finally got our QBOTF.

Nothing about having to prove himself after a struggling start to his career. Sounded like a person trying to talk himself in to being a decent player. I hope he finally stays healthy but I wouldn’t spend $5 on the guy if I was a GM.
