Sam still in limbo, no gourds signed yet. Interior line still bad on both sides of the ball. Fun should start next week.

Question of the Day/Weekend – Who is your dream Free Agent Signing for this team?
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Ryan Wright, P, resigns with Vikings for 1 year $1.75M.
Josh Allen extended 6 years, 6 years, $330M, $250M of it guaranteed.

Purple sign Jones.
Seems like reasonable money:
@AdamSchefter
More about RB Aaron Jones re-signing with the Minnesota Vikings on a two-year, $20 million deal that includes $13 million guaranteed:
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44182013/sources-vikings-re-signing-rb-aaron-jones-2-year-20m-deal
Maybe more effective if we can improve line play. He ha a good year but his body is a bit used.
yuk.
2 years $20 million.
$13 million guaranteed.
way too much money for a guy hurt in almost every game.
Turns 31 in Dec i believe. Not sure at all about this.
agreed
Guess $20M doesn’t buy what it used to.
Love the guy, but he is ancient for RBs and is hurt too much.
I would not have paid that much, but it is not my money, and they are rolling with JJ and that still has me happy.
I want them to fix the interior lines.
Maybe because he has missed so much time they think he is a young 31.
Brittle running backs are a luxury not a requirement.
Just got back from Vegas for a short family trip. I didn’t realize Vegas was SOOO Expensive. Food was really good though.
They have gotten rich figuring out ways to charge you for every single thing.
I still don’t understand the ‘Resort Tax’ but still have to pay it when you stay there.
No doubt! I understand they charge you 11 dollars to use their ATM machines on the strip (I never did), I did order one drink in the Casino while I was watching sports and waiting for my son to finish at the black jack table. 22 dollars for a 10 oz Ceaser… I am much, much better off gambling (which I don’t do much) and drinking here in God’s country.
Even their mini fridges in the room, they monitor the ‘weight’ of the prepacked contents and if something changes you room is auto charged.
It has gotten to the point that you can’t even use it to put some dinner leftovers in it.
Parking used to be free behind the Casino/Hotels, I could go on and on. We seldom stay there any more.
Yep seems like a real racket, the hotel we stayed at was smoke free and pretty nice….but no refrigerator or microwave….they want you to spend money in their restaurants.
I guess it’s been too long since I’ve been there. I remember free drinks sitting at the tables or the slots.
Yes, if you are at the tables playing Black Jack you get free drinks….the 4 crown and cokes I had cost me 90 dollars in about 45 minutes.
What pisses me off is that my son and I agreed we could each blow 150 dollars at the black jack tables. I was done in two short sessions. He played 4 days…didn’t make a lot but finished up 60 dollars….I am a better black jack player than he is .
Myles Garrett stays with the Brownies. $40M a year, $123.5 Guaranteed.

Von Miller cut by Bills to save cap space.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nfl/article/bills-to-reportedly-release-lb-von-miller-in-salary-cap-cost-saving-move-144727562.html
Hmm, Garrett seemed determined to move to a contender, guess it really is always about money. Being stuck with the Browns though, yuck.
Garret:
” I want out of Cleveland it’s not about the money ”
Right.
It was big money, but it’s still the Browns.
Watching the B1G Wrestling Championship this weekend. Finals are today, Penn St is way ahead in the Team Title, @big surprise there@.
Minn got 3 wrestlers into the finals and have a chance at 4th.

Sweaty men rolling around hugging each other. Golf is so much nicer
Wrestling is the original sport.
Golf is more a ‘nice walk ruined’ as Mark Twain so eloquently said.
Back ‘when men were men’ times.
When men were men and women were glad of it.
Golf is more about how much money you, or your family’ have.
And men didn’t want to be women!
Oh, the good old days.
Golf is just swinging at a ball, just a lot of time between swings compared to other sports.
Being men back then was a dangerous thing.
I suspect that there were some cowardly men back then that preferred to be safe and sheltered.
Probably how golf got it’s start. #grin
Well there is this – the men that started golf wore skirts
And of course herded sheep.
‘herded sheep’
That is a Baaaaaaad joke.
Got the NYT Wordle today in 2…. I rock. Grin.
Happy daylight savings day!
Spent the entire day at Bay Hill yesrterday – fantastic time. Had a sponsor ticket with a tent right over the 15th. Walked around a lot and then set (eat and drank) and just watched leaders come thru.
These guys are good and play a different game than us lowly ams.
Weather was perfect too and course is tough.
It’s been 30 years since I was last at Bay Hill. I know it’s changed a bit, but truly one of the best tests of golf anywhere in the world. I was hoping Justin Thomas would make a move yesterday, but he went the wrong direction. What was parking like? Did you get shuttled in? The parking lot by the clubhouse used to be pretty small.
We had a shuttle, parking is really tough without one now.
Saw Justin hit some fine shots, but didn’t make puts.
This may seem a bit this and that but all these guys hit the ball great, yet some are just a tad better. Tommie Fleetwood is a great ball striker.
And yet, it still comes down to who makes the puts.
Bay Hill is a great golf coarse.
What’s wordle?
Wordle is a word puzzle. Five letter word you try to guess each day. You get six guesses. Each guess helps you eliminate, or find letters in the word, and their location. There are strategies for finding the letters in the word, and their placement. Folks have different “first word” guesses, which usually include the 5 most common letters in English words. I use TASER. My brother likes to use YEAST. You hope in your first couple word guesses to get enough letters to figure out what the word of the day is. Today’s word was GREED. I put TASER in, got the E and the R with E being in one of the words correct location. There were hundreds of words (maybe a thousand) with E as the second to last letter, and an R in them. FRIED and DRIED came to my mind, as well as GREEN, but I guessed GREED. Lucky guess.
Wordie and Golf!
The news desert that is the ‘Silly Season’ is sad indeed. So glad that it is almost over.
Almost over? It’s a LONG way to September SoCal.
The new ‘NFL League Year’ begins Wednesday, March 12.
I did not mention the ‘Season’ beginning just the ‘Silly Season’ ending.
BTW, after further consideration, I was last at Bay Hill in 2003. Both Arnie and Jack were playing, and that was the last time Jack played there. Tiger won by 11 shots.
Nice thing about golf. Three generations of three “kings” can still be on the ‘field (course) competing against each other. Arnie and Jack were well beyond their primes, but cold still be out there with Tiger.
I was struggling, got it in 5, all of a sudden, I started thinking of Elon Musk and it all became clear.
Watching Falcoons and Purple from last year on NFLN. It’s something.
Having a great day
No fish, still fun. They had bacon.
Not for lack of trying
The fish traded you bacon for their lives???
The United States Department of Agriculture has announced that they have canceled a grant worth $600,000 for the study of menstrual cycles in transgender men.
The fact that they got the grant in the first place is reason enough to be angry.
I read it, says “At any given moment about 26% of the world’s population is menstruating.” No wonder humans are so messed up. #grin

Thanks for posting the thread, Surly. Also, thanks for that ear worm yesterday, it’s still stuck in my head.
Luckily I didn’t ‘hear it’.
I have too much stuff going on up there already.
Almost none of it of any use.
The wife is gone to her sisters. I only have a couple of to-do items. It’s going to be a lazy day.
Heading out to go ice fishing
Trying to freeze that ‘ear worm’ out of your head?
#grin
50s today, balmy even out on the ice.
A slow weekend it seems.
Kind of ‘The Calm Before The Storm’ as new league year will be upon us soon. Lots to talk about then, I expect to complain about most of KAMs moves until proven wrong, aka my usual.
hawt
Is suppose to get into the 60s here today but for some reason it feels warmer.
https://www.nfl.com/news/qb-sam-darnold-not-expected-to-return-to-vikings
Article says the Vikings are looking to add another Veteran QB – hoping it’s the Mississippi Mustache…..
Daniel Jones hopefully. I can’t see DJ getting a starting gig anywhere else.
Supposedly, there is a “market” for Jones.
Don’t know if there is a market for him to be a starter.
It is hard to tell what is real and what isn’t during the silly season.
I am thinking/hoping that backup/insurance/mentor in Minn is as good or better than other deal he might be offered.
A low end team might offer him more $$ but if he wants to learn under KOC and have a chance to start if JJ isn’t quite ready or not quite healthy.
I find myself very very happy about the Geno Smith trade to LV and the rumors of Darnold to Seattle.
I find Darnold a much better fit for that team and that area than the Raiders. And I very much want to see JJ start here next year.
Busy day today. My dream free agent signing? If he is released… Kirk Cousins! Ok, I’m kidding, I think JJ is going to start, and would be good with any backup quarterback KOC would want on the team.
Over reaction! Mission accomplished.
Honestly, Kirko on a league-minimum salaried backup to JJ works for me.
Otherwise, nope.
Just read an article advocating for just that thing.
Issue is KC wants to start, not sure coming here to be a backup is what he will sign up for.
https://thevikingage.com/nfl-analyst-offers-a-so-crazy-it-just-might-work-idea-minnesota-vikings-2025-qb-plan
He can’t retire a Viking on the league minimum.
If ATL releases him, he could be signed at the minimum with ATL paying the rest of the bloated Kirko-inspired contract.
I would still prefer he go elsewhere.
Yeah I get that.
I was implying it wasn’t enough for Kirk to retire a Viking. I still say he won’t sign anywhere without another year of guaranteed money.
Well if a boy can dream might as well go big.
Mahomes.
