He is such a buffoon. Not all that familiar with Minnesota other than being a Vikings and Twins fan. Visited in 91 to see a twins game at the Metro-dome. Struck me like a place one would want to bring up a family. Now it seems like the movie 28 days later. Seems like everybody has gone bat shit crazy. Always wanted to see a Vikings home game, but from what I’ve seen don’t want to go anywhere near the place. So sad.
After our little discussion on the NFL being an entertainment industry not sports, and the likelihood that the Steelers will be playing the Packers in the Super Bowl, I’m tempted to place a bet on that.
I have said several times that the Packers haven’t been relevant for too long, and the NFL is going to push them deep in the playoffs (perhaps only the NFC Championship). I still believe it.
I think it is worth a gamble… something reasonable… but I don’t have a betting medium, and it isn’t worth flying to Vegas for.

Some people should be strapped to a stake, naked during a Midwest blizzard. My neighbor stopped by a little bit ago and handed me my book package that went out this morning. She found it on the road about 5 miles from my house. I called the post office and my regular delivery guy said that there was nothing in my mailbox this morning. My neighbor knows him and in addition to being a mailman, he is a business owner in town, so I really doubt he is lying. The pirate must have been gutsy, because from the mailbox, you can see in the house and see me sitting at my desk. I’m not facing the mailbox, but still. I’m figuring he snatched it and then got down the road and realized it was just a book so it had no value to him and he tossed it out of the window onto the road. That’s one quality citizen. We live in a small rural area and the post master said that was the first time he has heard of something being stolen from a mailbox in our zip code.
Just put up a standard target with a direct view to your front door next to the mailbox, with nice little holes punched out indicating sub MOA accuracy. I have a couple of gongs staked out at 400 and 600 yards on my place, painted bright orange, with lead stains on them. Tends to remind people FAFO.

No mail is safe in Commifornia.
USPS will even tell you not to send anything valuable via the post office. All mail boxes have locks but are routinely broken into. Mail carrier’s have been robbed while delivering the mail, Post Offices are broken into.
It was quite the shock to find that in Idaho no mail boxes are locked but no one steals the mail. It took awhile to get used to.

Cousins has never been over-hyped by anybody his entire career. Quite the opposite. McCarthy has been called a HoFer before he was even drafted. Kirk was hated on way more than overhyped, by a large margin IMO. Exponentially better than the trash we saw a QB this year.

You’re seeing what you want to see. Look at the position of her hands on the steering wheel and the wheels themselves, she was making a 3 point turn and turned the wheel to the right to leave. Quit, that just shows you won’t see reality for what it actually is. If she was pulled over, tires spike stripped and she was ripped out of her car and tazed… fine. But supporting “law enforcement” (Sorry, ICE has really lowered themselves with their if you have a pulse recruiting strategy) being able to outright shoot people in the face with no repercussions, that shit is wrong. Again, I ask you to go watch the slow motion of the video that clearly shows he un-holstered the weapon as he was already side stepping the vehicle, this is fact, not an opinion. This woman hit an officer with her car. She used her car as a deadly weapon. The officer lawfully and legally used lethal force. When people attack law enforcement and try to kill them, then they get killed. That is appropriate.
There is no way you are not just trolling with that response. A vehicle is a deadly weapon. You ignore lawful commands after breaking the law and then point a deadly weapon at law enforcement, you get what’s coming to you. How bad the officer was hurt in the end matters not. That’s like saying that a cop shouldn’t have shot somebody that shot him in the foot because it was just his foot and he wasn’t hurt that bad. You use a deadly weapon against law enforcement, then they will, or at least should, do the same to you. I got enough of ‘dealing with shit heads’ in prison. We had a lot more control over them but admin mostly wanted us to ‘just file paperwork’ on the inmates since that is much better for the administrators. Less drama, stats look better so that they look better.

The criteria for being an ICE agent is SOOOOO far below what an actual cop has to go through and be trained with. Don’t compare the two. I support actual cops and law enforcement… ICE is not that.

Ever had a vehicle bearing down on you at ANY rate of speed? Doesn’t take much for a 2,000 lb vehicle to crush you.
That officer doesn’t know she’s ‘making a 3 point turn’ – he’s directly in front of her immediately after she ignores a lawful order to stop the vehicle and turning or not he has no way to know if she’s turning away or going to run him over. So he fired. Once through the windshield and several more shots as he came around the side – the 2nd volley of shots was likely to insure that she wasn’t driving into other officers or bystanders. Shit happened fast and I’d be willing to bet it was the LAST outcome that officer wanted.
On top of this, her passenger is outside the vehicle instigating violence by asking the agents to come after her and insulting them. I wish both would have died, honestly.

I read something that made me say “hmmmm”. The NFL is officially registered as entertainment, not sports. Therefore, legally, they can fix games without breaking any laws. It’s just for entertainment you see… and anything they can do to spice things up, or increase interest (revenue) is in play. It’s like the WWE. That’s not sports, it’s entertainment, and all the matches are scripted. In the NFL, it means ensuring certain teams win, and certain teams lose.
There is some perspective out there that the most intriguing and therefore profitable Super Bowl matchup would be Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers versus the GB Packers and Love.
If the Steelers and Packers should end up in the SB, it would indeed have to be the biggest fix in sports history.

I could see the Packers beating the Bears because they are division rivals and the Bears are over rated. But the Packers aren’t beating any of the good teams unless they get “help”.

This has been debated and discussed for awhile here. I agree, that it is entertainment only. I just figured the Wilfs would pay enough money for a championship, and they obviously have not done that yet.
There is a book out called “The Fix is in” that discusses all major sports.
I think that as soon as gambling was involved, you were open to fixing games. And, gambling has always been involved.
I expect with the legal gambling becoming more widespread, you will see some crazy shit the next few years that prove out it is all scripted (at least the outcomes and total points).
So if we assume this is the case, then figuring out who wins and loses before games are played might be possible. Then making a fortune betting might also be possible.
Maybe ICE “murdering” and “innocent” civilian will incite enough riots that the NFL will decide that the Vikings winning the SB next year would be the best story.
This is why I am less invested in who wins games when I watch.
I obviously have rooting interest, Go Vikings and FTP, but I am not crushed when the games don’t go my way. I understand that it is scripted going in.
Frustrating at times no doubt, especially when Refs/NFL puts their finger on the scales and then gaslights us about what they are doing.
I think this must be fully expressed by the league to the fans though. The NFL needs to openly state the games are entertainment, not actual sporting events.
That would cost them money. No way are they doing that.

I think a lawsuit might do the trick. Like maybe for a Billion dollars for not being truthful about their product, and letting people bet their money on games that are not real, unfettered, and unbiased competitions?

How much the entertainment side effects the sports side is hotly debated.
Yes, but I learned that since they are registered as entertainment, NOT sports, they are legally allowed to “fix” games.
That is also part of the argument, the NFL charter does not allow ‘fixing games’ so they have some cover.
They just have to come up with another word for ‘influencing outcomes’ to get around that.
Nope, pretty sure NFL officials have openly said that the NFL is an entertainment business. They are not going to be very blunt about it, but they have stated it enough that if you were to try and sue them they can say, “we openly said what we are”.
LaMarr Jackson’s cap number this year is $74.5M. Depending on what the cap is going to be (OTC uses $295.5M and Spotrac uses $304.4M as their projected cap number) Jackson is going to account for roughly a quarter of the teams cap space. That’s a chunk.

I’m trying to figure out why Harbaugh was fired. There were stories he was refusing to fire his OC (Todd Monken) per the directions from the owner Steve Bisciotti. Word was, that defiance was the reason he was fired.
And the other is that he and LaMarr were no longer getting along.
That’s right. Pundits were writing they thought he “lost the locker room” but then there were reports of players all coming to Harbaugh’s office in tears, hugging him and expressing deep sadness he was no longer their coach. This includes many of the players pundits said he had “lost” like Isiah Likely.
