VIKINGS NEWS and random stuff –
The hype-train as begun. Reporters got a look at the team yesterday, and while the defense is ahead of the offense(normal for this time of year), both sides of the ball look good. I am sure most teams are reporting similar.
I have not attended a game at US Bank since 2018. Now that the previous purge (QB, GM, Coach)has satisfied my blood lust for the teams past failures, I am going to a game again. Single game tix went on sale yesterday. Going to the Bengals game. Nosebleeds were not too crazy and this team has me hyped enough to pay for parking and pay exorbitant prices for beer and sit so far away that I am basically watching the jumbotron.
NFL News – FTP!
Jets looked to have lost the QB for a moment. Turns out the guy just has an owie on his toe. I am sure it hurts, but the way it was reported I thought the dude lost a limb. It was fun to speculate about Kirk maybe going to the Jets to finally get his dream of playing in Jersey. I am not seeing any other major injuries reported. Hoping for no more of that, even for teams I hate.

- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Third round of the 3M Open is underway, and Rickie Fowler squeezed into the weekend play after shooting 3 over on the front yesterday. Everyone else was going low, and he fell below the cut line, and was looking bad. Then he came back on the back 9 with solid play, and shot 4 under. He finished one under for the day, and seven under for the tournament. The cut line was five under, so you can see how low the scoring is. Today is moving day, and Rickie tees off a little over two hours from now, at 10:30 a.m. EDT. He needs a really low round today.
Good luck!
Two weeks till we play the Texans in preseason. Sat Aug 9 ay 4 p.m. EDT.
Good Saturday morning. It’s welcome back Saturday for the Vikings, where the fans will finally be able to see the team. I expect lots of video’s and stories today.

SoCal, if you’re still up I just saw something really strange.
there was a clip of Gavin Newson from 2008 (maybe he was a Mayor or something) laying out his plan to eliminate homelessness in SF in ten years. Now, almost 20 years later, and after his plan, it is far far worse than ever.
They spent billions of dollars on this. Question is where did all the money go?
Same place that the $100 Million that was raised at the ‘Charity Fire Concert’ that no-one can account for now.
It was ‘Commiforniaed’.
Yea, just saw that too. All that money for good causes just seems to vanish out there. We should move to CA start a charity organization and become billionaires.
I already washed that Commifornia Funk off of me.
Not ready to go back for any more, don’t need money that badly.
Well shitheads….148 comments is pretty pathetic…Thank God I posted about golf.
Well 150 comments is way more gooder than yesterday.
Don’t know top 7 players at 3M Championship. Fly over country. @Thank God i got the Twins to watch@.
Lots of low scores yesterday and today. Mostly guys trying to get into the FedEx Cup.
Well I just got back par for nine, missed the cut.
Nice! Shot par for 9 holes?
We’re not worthy!!!
I started hitting balls (baseballs) when I was 2 years old and. it seems to be a transferable skill to other sports where you use an instrument to hit a ball. And that which you learn when really young seems to stick with you pretty well.
Yeah, that sounds right to me. Still, love the fact that a crippled old man can shoot par golf!
STop talking about me!!!!
O.K. can’t shoot par
Hay I ain’t that crippled! Now if I was basketball player, a big deal. Golf, not much at all.
So Metellus is playing a Hock this preseason until he gets his extension?
https://thevikingage.com/josh-metellus-new-wrinkle-minnesota-vikings-standoff
Interesting since he said the opposite yesterday. I’m guessing there’s some real pain there and they’re being cautious with him.
Who knows what is real at this point?
Not casting aspersions just pointing out a possibility.
We should know one way or another soon enough.
I know it is late on a Friday and many may not see this, but I have hit a rough patch in my marriage. I just discovered that my wife doesn’t know who Patti Page is. I’m shocked.
Heresy!
Even Giphy knew who she was.
That’s not Patti Page. That Bettie Page. Way different.
Clara Ann Fowler (November 8, 1927 – January 1, 2013), better known by her stage name Patti Page, was an American singer. Primarily known for pop and country music, she was the top-charting female vocalist and best-selling female artist of the 1950s,[1] selling over 100 million records during a six-decade-long career
You should definitely divorce your wife.
I prefer Bettie although I can do without the whip.
Justin Jefferson says you “have to have that patience” with JJ McCarthy:
“He’s pretty much a rookie… you’re not really expecting him to have the same mindset as a veteran. You can’t really have that expectation from him.”
Totally taken out of context and getting blown out of proportion.
This will disappear and condolences to Maxwell’s family on her upcoming suicide.
This is the same story as before. “Links to Epstein” mean associates, friends, acquaintances, business partners, or whatever. She has never named people who participated in underage sex acts.
I bet she knows the people actually involved and I heard she wants a pardon. If she wants a pardon, she needs to start coughing up real names with real evidence.
Well there’s the rub. There is no evidence. To date, all the testimony and video evidence only involves Maxwell and Epstein. The rest is hearsay as I understand it.
As long as we don’t reach Tampa Bay levels I am good with it.
Can we hang a banner???
And I’m going to guess, Les Steckle.

Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell says WR Justin Jefferson expressed some discomfort yesterday. He has a mild left hamstring strain. Team is going to be really cautious. Different leg from a couple years ago.
Going to have a hammy it’s time to do it. Don’t need him on the field with pads. We know what he can do.
Yeah, just let it heal. Plenty of time for some mild treatment. Obviously it’s not a severe injury, just a little tightness.
Didn’t he have a hammy in 23? Not good if same leg with this problem again.
Trump has arrived in Scotland for a five-day trip. He is expected to meet with British and Scottish officials, in addition to visiting his golf properties.
Security has also been significantly ramped up across multiple Scottish cities and golf resorts.
Trump is always on the go!
Hope he comes back with a Trade Deal with the EU.
They have a lot of barriers to US businesses that need breaking down.
I think eventually the EU is gonna cave. What else can they do? If Trump says OK, it’s deal with me, or pay 35% tariffs, they’re gonna deal. Just like Japan did.
That is what I expect as well.
It will just be nice when they finally get it done.
End the chicken tax!
Buccaneers place 449-pound Desmond Watson on non-football injury list until he gets in better shape.
The defensive tackle weighed in at a stunning 464 pounds at Florida’s pro day in March.
his poor heart
Amen
In Florida he had 63 tackles and 1 1/2 sack in 4 years.
He might play in some short yardage packages but that is about it.

Music really makes all of those routine drills seem exciting doesn’t it?
That’s why music during sex is so important.

For the second consecutive practice, Lions HC Dan Campbell had to intervene.
On Tuesday, Day 3 of training camp, Campbell briefly stopped practice after several defenders were hitting hard and tackling players on offense. That is not permitted right now, as the team is still in shorts. Second-year UDFA Morice Norris was singled out and warned after taking down rookie WR Isaac TeSlaa. About 20 minutes later, he delivered a similar hit that knocked down seventh-round WR Dominic Lovett. Campbell simply pointed to the facility, and Norris’ day was done.
While practice was less physical on Thursday, after an off day on Wednesday, it was still heated. Several scuffles broke out in the first hour of practice. It happened so often that it was hard to get a sense of everyone involved. The most notable names featured star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and Pro Bowl safety Brian Branch. These guys have gone at it over the last two practices, with Branch laying a hit on St. Brown during a team period a few days ago. The two were gnawing off during WR-DB drills Thursday morning, and when the team period began, you knew it was bound to continue.
On one play — a tight formation — St. Brown went in motion before the snap on a designed run, with Branch hovering near the line of scrimmage. St. Brown took a B-line toward Branch to block him. The two engaged and didn’t let go. A pile of Lions emerged around them, with Branch’s helmet getting pulled off. Jared Goff had to rip Branch away, and the coaches made Branch cool down for a play on the sideline before returning shortly thereafter.
Not surprising as Campbell peaches physical football.
Preaches it too… grin.
Gonna laugh my ass off when Goff or Brown gets injured because he can’t control his practices. His schtick is going to wear thin by the end of the year.
He’s fine.
Yep. Just like that.
slow day….time to talk golf….shot an 82 on a Par 72, 123 slope course yesterday. That is the best score I have shot in several years. Driver was o.k. but safe, approach shots were o.k..short game was really really good…I am sure next time out I will shoot a 98.
This is probably another reason people don’t come over here. All the golf talk.
Next I am going to do Wordle
Keep that garbage on the DN.
Hey!
Going all Wordie on us is beyond the pale.
#grin
Congratulations on a good score. You use the term OK to describe parts of your game – not sure how you mean that. Usually, when someone shoots their best score in years, several things are going better than just OK. Just curious.
The only thing that was really good was the short game, made a few 10+ foot putts I had no business making, I was solid from inside 8 feet, and my wedge play was pretty good.
My driver did not get me in any trouble all day long…never behind a tree or OB, and I usually do get in trouble on at least a few holes…but I was not ‘crushing it’.
My approach shots were o.k. usually on the green or close, I didn’t shank the 2 or 3 per round that I usually do.
Thanks. Believe to be good, or at least to score well, you need to be good with three clubs – driver, wedge and putter. Driver, just put into play, wedge it close enough to make some putts.
Agree with that.
Hey NoDak, nice round. Very awesome. I truly understand the “next time” sentiment though. Just play your game and enjoy the day. I played 9 holes the other day and lost 3 balls.
Always good advice.
Honestly, do you feel better when you shoot and 82 or a 98?
In different ways.
If I shot a 98, I would have had 3 beers on the course by hole 12.
There have been times when I was playing like crap, shot a few beers, and then with a who gives a crap attitude shot some great golf.
I do tend to relax and shoot better after a beer or two.
69!

Over on the DN, they are updating their platform. In the comments Oofda asked if Five Fingers would be allowed back.
I haven’t been back to the DN in a really long time. I do miss Oofda. To bad he wouldn’t come over.
He says he doesn’t like the political talk.
Who does that??
#grin
How does he know there is political talk unless he creeps on us occasionally?
Hi Oofda!
I believe he came over here in the beginning and never came back.
I blame Trump.
He’s perfectly fine if it’s his side of the aisle.
SB nation is about as left as you can get, which is why this site was created.
To have free speech without getting banned.
That’s why he stays there.
I can see avoiding this site if I was woke.
It is not as if they can logically defend their takes.
Woke =/= logical. Those are two things that do not coexist.
Seems as though if you have TDS you don’t really need logic.
News site’s headline on the passing of Hulk Hogan.
EVERYTHING in their brain is based on Trump.
As if that’s all he is defined by.
And he has said that he HID his support since 2015.
Is TDS the same thing as BDS and ODS?
There were no people cutting people out of their families when Obama and Biden were President.
It’s been happening for 10 years now with Trump.
Did you stop talking to any of your relatives because they voted for Trump?
BDS and ODS have their sufferers.
They are a small group unlike TDS sufferers. TDS has taken over peoples lives like Rosie.
TDS is fun to watch since people who are infected with it cannot be logical when it come to anything DJT does, or might have done.
Not sure what woke truly means but it does seem to be based in DEI, CRT, Climate Change and basically that this country was formed by and to protect white men and surpress everyone else.
And does seem all the logic and fundamental arguments supported with actual facts is going to change their opinions on these beliefs. Just a waste of time. we seem to have a generation lost.
As I remember it, back when DEI, CRT, Climate Change and all that started those that supported those ideas called themselves ‘Woke’ to indicate that they were more aware/awake than the rest of us.
Of course people with logic turned it back on them with sarcasm.
Just because people are avoiding this site because of political talk, doesn’t mean they are woke. It’s a sports site that gets taken over with political talk quite a bit and I’m guessing that keeps people away.
Some of the talk gets old, be it political, religious, or about KC. I can sit out the discussion when I choose to or engage if I am interested or feel like I have something to add. Even if it is poorly thought out snarky comments.
Some truth to that.
But they ban basic talk if it doesn’t fit the right narrative.
Pansy. Tranny. Not sure what else.
Banning words doesn’t mean it’s better.
Don’t you dare refer to the team in DC by their factually accurate historical name, even when talking about old teams of theirs.
Yep. Another one.
REDSKINS…..
HTTR
What other team had a fight song.
They don’t just ban words… they actively ban opinions they don’t like, even if you follow their rules. They are the “nazis” they scream about.
I agree. There is a difference between a little political talk to spice up a boring off season and being obsessive about political talk. The second part can get real old, not just on here, but anywhere. I have family that have issues with the obsessive part also.
As my Grandmother used to say – be moderate in all things. There is a myriad of subjects that get tossed around here that I find quite interesting, even things that I know very little about.
But then, I always like a one stop shopping place.
I know Oofda leans left, but contrary to what some believe, conservatives and liberals can find common ground and be friendly. For my part, I felt that Oofda and I were able to do so. He’s a funny guy.
I don’t know if there’s such a thing as “leaning” left nowadays. Seems any liberal I know or meet is hard/far left and there isn’t much in the middle.
I know him personally and he’s so middle on politics that he might get kicked out of the country for not taking a side.
Nice. Not nice for getting kicked out, but someone has to be in the middle.
Bingo – those liberal nazis over there only want to allow one-sided opinions and will suppress the speech of any dissent. I got “all your comments must be individually approved by a moderator” after I was REPLYING to comments about COVID and pointing out false information (with sources and logic). Of course, the supporters of the COVID bs and their comments were allowed to stay and there were no repercussions to their comments. All those moderators and the people who run those sites can GF themselves.
Free speech is why I love this place.
Exactly. I forgot about all the COVID nonsense.
I’m assuming that’s the reason why most people won’t come over.
Really? Before I posted here or even knew this site existed ( I didn’t post at all then) I used to ‘view only’ DN. Then one day someone from here came by and suggested this site had been started and urged people to stop by.
I thought the DN posters responses were rather snobbish. They said just a bunch prejudiced conservatives over here and they really didn’t know football that well ( like the experts over there). They seemed as biased as those they were condemning.
Them vs Us mentality.
If you are/were comfortable with the DN and their censorship then they probably less so with the free wheeling ideas. We may lean right but we welcome other views although they ideas will be challenged.
Challenging ideas is not a problem, attacking a person is. Although discussions can be intense at time that happens between conservatives ala ‘Epstein’ discussions here.
I was new at it but that site was somewhat of a paradox then. I can recall all the folks over there just hating vigorously on Cousins because he wouldn’t get vaccinated, sound government policy, be a good citizen and all of that. Seemed quite political to me.
Politics only allowed if you agree with them. That’s how Reddit is, too. Censorship galore if you use logic or say anything that could be viewed as “conservative”, but trashing Trump and conservatives is allowed and encouraged. Go on the Minnesota reddit sometime – you’ll see how one-sided it is.
I think they are still stuck under the assumption that we only left because they took away the “Z” key.
Then we all would have returned when they got the Z key back.
I like to go there for the articles, the same reason I look at playboy mags.
This is also how I found this place. Read at the DN and saw someone’s post for Skoloholics and I came here. First and only blog I’ve ever commented on.
Yep, I was a lurker on the DN and here for about a year. Then I just about got banned by Lifer the first day I commented here.
I shouldn’t say banned, Lifer had to approve any comments I made before they would post.
Lifer, that’s funny. This site is supposed to be ‘so’ conservative, but it’s most liberal poster and moderator has to approve. your posts.
What happened to that guy? I still think he might have been a plant and lost his job with the DOGE cuts.
I’m starting to think he was Biden’s doctor and when old Joe fell apart the last couple of years. Lifer became to busy doctoring Joe with little time for posting.
That guy rools.
I saw where Aaron Rodgers threw an interception on his first throw in training camp. I also read he went “1 of 3” on passes to D. K. Metcalf.
The attention the media pays to these kinds of stats is just plain stupid. Training camp is practice. Everyone at every position is practicing. “Stats” in practice are dumber than a box of hair.
That goes for every team, including the Vikings. Pay no attention to pundits keeping track of completions, incompletions, and interceptions in practices. They mean absolutely nothing.
All it means is that the pundits get more clicks and views so they make more money.
I use my dogs hair to keep deer out of my garden.
I remember people growing their hair long to donate it for use in wigs for people going thru cancer treatments.
Have not heard of that for quite awhile. Maybe fake wigs have gotten much better?
I worked with a lady that did that.
it’s training camp for the media as well…
i don’t fault them, because i will watch every hype video, read every breakdown that i can right now
so quit it, grumpy gus
I checked out The House of David on Prime. I’m not sure I’m going to watch it, because it sounds like a soap opera. Have you watched any of it?
I have only seen the first episode as of yet…
i was pleasantly surprised at the parts of the bible it touched on, was actually very accurate
including when King Agag was “hacked to pieces” by Samuel.
which is one of the most brutal/hilarious encounters in the Bible imo
Per the reviews I saw, it appears that a lot of people really like it. However, there are some that are concerned that they take a lot of artistic license. For example, Saul’s wife plays a large part in the series and they play up the political intrigue to the max. In the Biblical account, Saul wife is a nothing burger, so I’m not sure why they are playing that part up so much.
yes, there were a couple starts of storylines that obviously were not in the Bible so it’s like well ok MAYBE it was like that, even though the Bible makes no mention of it.
I taught David’s life to our Sunday school for multiple weeks and there is ALOT in there that they could just stick to the Bible and have enough to make a show, but you know, they have to add drama even though there is plenty of drama in this historical Biblical story already
Some of those that had concerns said basically what you just said.
Laughing… grumpy gus huh? OK Freezey, I think I’ll just keep being me. Sorry.
How does freezey know your name is Gus? I smell a conspiracy.
The same way he knows how to change a battery, he doesn’t.
