Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

Sorry I missed the thread this morning, life was busy. Not much more news out there, Joe Flacco disappeared from the market. MSN says the Vikings missed on him, but I don’t think they had any desire to sign him, so I wouldn’t classify it as a miss.

i’ll try to add some more depth up here sometime tonight or in the morning. Right now, I’m at my kid’s basketball game posting this from my phone,

Vikings News

Joe Flacco is no longer a free agent, per MSN.

NFL News

Patrick Peterson is retiring after 13 seasons in the NFL, according to USA Today.

SB Nation says Shadeur Sanders is a lock for the top 10 in the draft. You’ll recall an article from 2 days ago that said he was a fringe starter. “Experts”.

Yikes. You’re a braver man than I. I had a baitcaster once.

After the 3rd time I needed to seek medical attention to extract my thumb from a massive birds nest I sold it.

He made it interesting. I stopped at mom’s and caught the last couple of holes from when Reed one-hopped his eagle in, but I missed the playoff.

I will check it out on YouTube tomorrow.

Mom was pretty happy he won. I was pulling for him, too. Get that green jacket, son!

He had to fight for it. He pulled out a great shot on 17 for a birdie, but man that shot from 125 yards that he dumped in the bunker on 18 was terrible. Then the five footer to win in regulation that he missed. Comes back and plays like a champ to win it in a playoff.

I saw the ball was a bit below his feet on his approach to 18. I knew I would kick it a mile right in that situation.

Yeah, he hit it solid, but you’re probably right about the lie. A ball below your feet is gonna drift that direction every time.

He overcame in the end. Glad I got to watch some of it, at least. After being away from watching golf for a while, I can tell the sport has evolved.

All of the golfers look a lot more trim and sharp with their attire and swings. You can tell the training has become a lot more scientific in the last couple decades.

Those guys are golfing machines.

Augusta greens are crazy. Rose hit’s a great iron on 18 and ends up farther from the hole than Rory.

Not that Rory hasn’t done his best to give it away.
My God, a player of his talent can’t hit the 72nd green from 125 yards to win it.

Or make a 6 foot putt to win it.

I’m just kidding around with you. Thought we had a great discussion that day talking about what it takes to win in Augusta.
Now with respect to Rory, when you win at Augusta in perfect weather and shoot a 73 the last day and still win – makes me wonder some about the rest of the field.

As you highlighted though, the green complexes are very difficult. We saw putt after putt singe the edge of the cup. Misses by millimeters. Everyone was doing it. Plus the course has continued to get longer, and longer. 500 yard par fives are becoming the norm. 11 played at 520 yards for the week. Rae’s creek also took its usual toll. Augusta National is a place that brings double bogey into play on every hole.

Disappointed at Augusta that the pin on 16 isn’t in its traditional Sunday spot by the sand, where the ball hits mid green and rolls down towards the pin.

I read that KOC and KAM are comfortable with targeting free agents with injury history’s because they believe their medical staff can keep them healthy.

I’m not sure this perspective holds any water, but that’s their thinking.

Federal authorities allege a Wisconsin teen murdered his parents in order to “obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary” to assassinate President Donald Trump.

According to Waukesha County authorities,17-year-old Nikita Casap was previously arrested in March on two counts of first-degree murder, along with two counts of hiding a corpse.

Casap is also being charged with theft of property amounting to over $10,000 and the misappropriate of identification to obtain money.

Casap’s stepfather, 51-year-old Donald Mayer, and his mother, 35-year-old Tatiana Casap, were found dead in their home on March 1st by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.

After the discovery, the sheriff’s department issued a search warrant, finding evidence on Casaps phone revealing that he was connected to “The Order of Nine Angles,” which investigators claim is a “network of individuals holding new-Nazi racially motivated extremist views.”

Court documents revealed that Casap referenced a manifesto for the assassination of President Trump, along with plans to create bombs and coordinate terrorist attacks to start a revolution in order to “save the white race.”

So the left says Trump is a Nazi, white supremacist, and the Nazi, white supremacists want to assassinate him. Crazy.

He switched to a new ball this year and it’s paying off. He creates so much clubhead speed with his driver, he needed to use a lower spin ball to keep it in play. This affected his ability to spin his wedges effectively and he was all over the place with them. The new ball is very “spinny” off the irons, and less spinny off the driver. Rory is loving the new ball, as he can swing away with the driver and his irons for the first time ever.
