Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
It’s Labor Day, everyone! This is the one day a year when we honor the folks who started the labor movement by…….not working. That’s always seemed odd to me, but oh well, it’s an excuse to go fishing.
We completed the Skoloholics fantasy draft last night. It’s a learning process, too bad our commissioner is a dumb a**. Actually, all went fairly well, I’d say it was an improvement over last year. At least we drafted before the season started this year.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
OK… I am only posting this because of the shirt this old lady is wearing…
Rodney was the greatest…
I was a bit younger when he was popular, I enjoyed him/his jokes but they didn’t quite fit ‘in my wheelhouse’ at the time. I get them more now that I am more maturer (well at little more mature).
Dude’s one of the greatest
Belichick and North Carolina are down 20-7 to TCU at the half.
Bill better get it together or his girlfriend/fiance is going to be pissed.
Just can’t cheer for him with that 24 year old girlfriend. It’s almost as disgusting as Megan Markle.
I think he looks ‘fat, old, and out of it’ on the sideline.
Maybe she isn’t leaving enough of him to function any more?
Haha!
41-7 now.
Bill is looking very concerned.
I think he is about to get ‘cut off’.
Here is a concept that KOC loves, I expect to see early in the game on Monday night. The deep crossing pattern. The idea is simple: Clear out one side of the field and have Justin Jefferson run into the vacated area.
Jefferson pushes vertically like he might be running a deep pattern straight down the field and then breaks toward the opposite sideline from where he lined up (usually on the left side of the formation). There aren’t too many cornerbacks in the world who can track Jefferson across the field that far so if the protection holds up the play is automatic. The design up front has a lot of moving parts and they all come together well with Hockensen coming underneath the formation and Aaron Jones cutting the defensive end and then going out for a route. All that movement causes the defense to pay a lot of attention to the backfield with their linebackers and box safety. If the O-line blocks effectively, it gives Thielen time to race far enough downfield to draw the single high safety over. McCarthy then has a difficult angular throw to Jefferson, who has outpaced the corner and has 5 yards of separation. I’ve seen McCarthy make this throw though. BOOM 60 yard TD.
Played a round of golf today.
Did my tin cup schtick on the first hole.
Got a freaking 10.
Played my ass off the remaining 17 holes at 10 over.
Shot an 86.
Unbelievable I know.
OK, I have to ask, how do you take a 10 on a hole? Par 5?
Simple, missed a three footer for a nine.
That’s like when they asked Seve Ballesteros how he 5 putted once. He said “I miss, I miss, I miss, I miss, I make”.
Similar thing happened to Nicklaus. He shot like an 82 in opening round of British Open ( his worse round ever). He had just been told right before he teed off Jack Jr had just been arrested for DUI.
So, reporter asked Jack how he shot at 82, He replied I had a six footer for an 81 on eighteen and missed it.
Par 5.
Hit the drink three times.
If only golf balls could swim…
Shot 41-47 for an 88 today. I am always happy when I shoot in the 80s…I used to think I was a loser till I saw only about 25 percent of the golfers shoot in the 80s.
O.K. I am still a loser but not because of my golf game.
Good round.
Breaking 90 is always the standard for me too.
I seldom keep score anymore (although I probably know in back of mind).
Most all the time I play pass/fail golf and there are 18 tests, or nine. Par or better pass, bogey or worse fail. When I started playing again, bogey was a pass too.
Keeps me more focused on hole at hand, and less pissed with a blow up hole.
I like that approach, mine would be Par is a pass, Double Bogey or worse is a fail, Bogey is a push-neither a pass or fail…
Nice round NoDak… looks like you may have tired a bit on the back 9. Maybe not, but that happens to me sometimes, especially on hot days.
Oh it definitely happens to me…I walk the course and I for sure start dragging on the back 9 a bit…I can feel my swing starting to go to shit….next weekend I will be playing in a tournament with the cousins at Detroit Lakes, MN. I will be using a cart the whole time, I will be curious to see if that helps.
If you walk and carry your clubs it sure as heck comes into play on. the back nine.
I regularly shot in the 80s at my hometown course in high school. It’s a tough 9 holes.
Laughing… my brothers grandson told us he shot 59 the other day.
It was a 9 hole par three course.
GF… you never looked better!
Man that stuff is brutal.
GF can relate… grin.
WTF?? Can’t Japanese ride bikes??
Ouch
man problem…
Schefter says Parsons dealing with a L/4, L/5 joint sprain in back. Might need a epidural injection in back prior to Sunday. Maybe clickbait.
How much did Green Bay give up for Parsons? Now he has an L/4, L/5 back sprain that requires an epidural? Hmmm… maybe Jerruh knew what he was doing.
Imagine if something lingering. Wisc have to go on suicide watch.
It’ll never happen. That franchise has too much luck.
Guess the weekend game to watch is kitties at lamblow Sunday. CBS i think. about 3:25. Assuming national coverage.
Might have to fish this weekend, Vikes don’t play until Monday
Not much of a college guy, need some NFL.
The NFC North teams all facing off against each other on week one is interesting.
Get to see right off the bat who looks good.
So Sports Writers are liars and don’t know what they are talking about??
Shocked/Not Shocked.

I have little respect for Russinni, click-bait specialist. Nobody will say it because Russinni is a female and people don’t want to be accused of misogyny, but it’s true.
Karens are going to Karen.
It is all that they know.
I personally don’t like having to listen to women telling me about football. Even my wife mutes the TV when a woman starts talking on a football broadcast.
I don’t mind if it’s someone who is knowledgeable. Michelle Tafoya knows her shit, I have no issue listening to her. Most sports journalists are dumber than s***.
Also, sports writers molest collies.
Graded 10, hell of a find
How much?
Paid $10 for it. Paid $15 for a graded Jayden Daniels card. Didn’t really buy it, did a little horse trading with a clarinet that I got from an abandoned property last year. They wanted the clarinet, I wanted the cards & a couple jerseys.
got a few
I think I paid $60 for the Magic Johnson card, got that last week at a different pawn shop.
Noice!
Yep, I thought they were good deals, especially graded. Also scored an original Cris Carter jersey.
Saw that. Awesome.
We found a Caitlin Clark rookie card, graded 10, Dude only wanted $150 for it. I am not a WNBA fan, but I know a good investment when I see it. I got his number, I think I’m gonna call him and buy it.
Just can’t stand the media. What would we do without Twitter/X?
I see another lawsuit coming.
CBS claims “it met their network standards.”
Says a hell of a lot about their standards.
They have standards? When did this happen?
Yes… their standard is to be the greatest Dem propagandist in the country…
Now the wife wants to relax and stay home… se la vie…
It’s a nice day here today, with temps in the 80’s and some high clouds. Heading into Tampa for some lunch and shopping at the International Mall.
The season is just days away now, and we’ll see which teams surprise in week one. Barring ties, half the league will have a losing record after week one.
If you were coaching the Bears, how would you approach Monday’s game?
Forfeit….other than that go run heavy, clock control to try to limit the exposure of your shitty QB….Of course the Vikes are going to try to do the same thing….final score could be 10 to 3.
The weakest part of our defense appears to be our secondary. Ben Johnson knows how to scheme a passing attack, so I honestly expect to see a lot of play action passing, and throws to the TE by the Bears. Use the passing game as an extension of the run game as it were. Defensively, they have a lot on their plate. We have a very strong receiving corps and thus the only answer is to bring a ton of pressure against McCarthy.
Just how I see it.
But he had Jeff Goff who was smart enough to pick up our blitzes, adjust the plays and or get rid of the ball quickly. Not sure Williams is there yet.
On defense, I would change every coverage post snap and try to confuse JJ. Who knows how much success it will have.
Flores will continue to bring pressure from all directions, to try and keep Williams off balance, for sure. We’ll see if Ben Johnson can give him the answers to the test.
Last year, Johnson was successful in beating Flores defense. We surrendered 31 points to his offense in both games.
We’ll see if this year, with a different team, Johnson can replicate that offensive dominance.
I pick 16th in a 16-team league tonight.
That kind of sucks….I pick 5th, will likely be choosing between CeeDee Lamb or McCaffrey
Not Jettas?
Lots of Vikes fans in the league, he will be gone. If he is there I will take him.
Not a bad plan then.
On the positive side, you get back to back picks. I think your top 2 picks should out perform the person that picks 1 and 32.
Yeah, hope so. I have to go with QB for the second pick. Won’t get a top guy when they come around, and teams with stud QBs tend to do really well in this league.
You can get the #1 kicker and defense!!!
True. That’s the plan for sure.

It is going to be a tough/interesting season.
Especially in the NFC, absolutely in the North.
Could see the Redskins knock out one of your playoff teams.
I see a reversion back to the norm for the Redskins.
Redskins win the division this season.
As for the NFC North, I have no idea.
I think the Lions will be worse this year, losing their coordinators will hurt.
