Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

I hope you all had a great weekend. We had a fun weekend relaxing at home after our little trip to Florida. It was nice to be home, but we miss Florida. I’d move down there in a heartbeat, especially if I were going to continue to work in real estate. With the price of homes in that area we were in, we’d only have to sell 2 or 3 homes a year and we’d be set, the commercial market would be especially fun for me.

The NFL legal tampering period begins at 11:00 this morning (central time), so all the tampering that has been going on for days/weeks can now be spoken about openly. Contracts cannot be finalized until the new league year begins this Wednesday, March 11, at 3 pm central. Every site lists these deadlines as eastern time, so I list them in central time just to be different.

There is lots of chatter about Kyler Murray coming to the Vikings. I seriously doubt that these rumors have anything to them, I just don’t see Murray as a good fit for KOC’s offense. However, if KOC thinks he can work magic with him, then bring him in and let him try to take the starting spot from McCarthy. It won’t cost much to give it a shot.

I heard a few rumors last night on the funny channels that say the Cowboys are making a run at a trade for Jonathan Greenard. The Vikings currently have 11 picks in this year’s draft, all their regular picks, plus one extra third round pick and three extra seventh round picks. Somewhere, Rick Spielman is drooling over those four 7th round picks.

Vikings and NFL News

NFL.com repeated the rumor that the Vikings are the front runner for Kyler Murray.

The Rams and Trent McDuffie agreed to a four-year extension worth $124 million, per NFL.com. Righteous bucks.

CBS Sports fills us in with everything that happened on the Sunday leading up to the legal tampering period.

From Sports Illustrated, the high cost of free agent centers could force the Vikings to look for a center in the draft. I dunno, I thought Brandel looked pretty solid at center, especially after he got a couple games under his belt.

Yahoo Sports has the latest NFL three agent news and rumors.

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Just got back from the emergency room.
Friday The Teacher thought she had an infection, went to Urgent Care, culture was negative but started antibiotics.
Sunday she had ‘Stomach Flu/Norovirus Symptoms.
Today I got back from the gym and she was laying on the bed after her shower in tears because the pain was so bad.
Rushed her to the emergency room (2 miles away), no waiting, checked right in, did blood and urine test, negative. They said Cat Scan, machine was literally across the hallway.
Results come back, kidney stone, .5cm. Gave her a gang of orders for drugs, send orders to pharmacy. 5 min away, it closes at 7 pm.
We leave the hospital at 6:30, I leave The Teacher in car and run in. The pharmacist says ‘we just got these, they are not ready yet’. I tell the lady, ‘she is in the parking lot passing a kidney stone’. She replies ‘Oh crap, we will prioritize this, please just stand to the side’. At 6:50 meds are ready.
Have I mentioned I love this place, 1 hour and 40 min from arrival at the emergency room to meds in hand headed home. The process would have taken all evening, maybe all night in SoCal, maybe longer waiting for Cat Scan.
Went from thinking she was dying to just painful (extremely) to in bed with good drugs and napping. I am emotionally spent and I was just the support animal.

Agreed.

I actually think Tua (if healthy, big if) can do pretty well with Stefanski and the weapons around him. He does well distributing the ball to a pass catching RB and that’s Bijan.

To those who want names of potential trades for the Vikings. I have an inside contact on a different team who shared with me the Vikings are working a trade. Didn’t say who, didn’t say when, didn’t say it’s for sure, just said they are working it. That’s all I know, he wouldn’t share names.

Worst part is losing their holder, with him Will the thrill only missed one kick last year, fat boy won’t be missed all that much as a punter. Nailor developed into a useful player this season but he didn’t exactly produce consistently, maybe he will now as a wr2 with more targets, good for him getting paid after being a 6th round pick.

While you guys are talking about boring old football, I just had to mention that we got a new robot vacuum. Now, back in the day, our house in Billings had about 80% carpet and as for all of our lives together I had the main vacuuming responsibilities (my wife probably did more vacuuming doing touch ups here and there but every two weeks I would vacuum the place from top to bottom, took me about four hours). At one point we had in addition three Roomba vacs, one for upstairs, one for downstairs, and one spare that previously lived at our cabin. That generation of Roombas were dumb, they randomly go from place to place changing direction when they bump into things.

90+% of our new place is concrete floor so my vacuuming responsibilities have been replaced by swiffering. Nonetheless we made a decision to send our last surviving roomba off to the Love Shack college down the road so when I found a screaming deal on a new robot vac I took a swing at it. Showed up on Friday, I let it charge (the base station has a vacuum bag that fills up over time so you don’t even have to empty the container every day), and set it loose on Saturday. It quickly roamed around the house mapping everything with LiDAR, then started its job with great efficiency, cutting along all the wall edges and then going back and forth in a stepwise fashion ensuring it covered every inch of floor space. When the battery got low, it returned to the base station, emptied and charged, and then (ahem) charged out to continue where it left off.

Highly recommend.

Does it navigate furniture fairly well? Changes in flooring like hardwood to carpet?

MT Viking
Reply to  Derby Skol
9 March 2026 2:34 pm

It weaved in and out of our dining room table chairs fairly well. It transitioned carpet to floor I would say about a 3/4 inch stepoff…would not climb over the oh about 1 inch wooden threshold into my office (nor did I want it in there to get tangled up in the computer cords) but did make the smaller maybe half inch jump from our bedroom floor to the tile floor in the sun room.

It is noticeably quieter than the old Roomba and you can hear the suction note change when it leaves carpet and hits the concrete floor, it really sucks the harder surface.

A 1st and a 2nd for Greenard and a 3rd for Addison works for me.
Vegas got 2 1st for Crowsby so it is not out of line IMHO.

Addison is way better than a 3rd. He’s a great WR2.

What entertainers (including sports figures) get paid is immoral.

No, it’s not, it’s market rate based on the economy, millions of people are willing to pay upwards of 1k for a premium ticket to Taylor Swift, or good season ticket seats to a football game to be entertained. I’m not one of those people but there are enough of them to drive the salaries for the entertainers to where they are and somehow outs their fault?

I’m all for capitalism. I’m not a big fan of stupidity. There are a lot of people screaming how business tycoons are immoral but then pay these idiots (Swift, etc) all their money and then worship them like they are god.

All the while the tycoons are lining their pockets with billions, not millions while people complain about what the entertainers make.

Meh, I’ve seen some of the people who are in some of those professions and a lot of them don’t deserve what they make already. The good ones most certainly deserve more, but unions won’t allow pay based on actual skill.

Registered nurses in San Jose (a big city in your former state) make on average $155-179,000 and can top over $200 if they work exclusively nights. So I’d take that profession off the top.

As a former firefighter and EMT, I think they are well paid for what they do, at least in a smaller city like Billings. Have no idea what police make but they should make more than firefighters.

Teachers…pfft…get outa here. 3 months off, no nights, no weekends, no evenings. Call the entry level pay in MT $40,000. That is plenty for what they do and the degree of difficulty of their degree.

Bad teachers maybe. My wife does not get 3 months off. She teaches most of June for summer school. She is often at school in August starting work on curriculum and then the all the teachers report about the third week of August. She is often there late helping out students or working with kids for robotics. She was gone all weekend this past weekend at the state robotics tournament. She spends multiple weekends working on the school newsletter. It is not unusual for her to be up by 4am grading papers or doing other school work.

The Teacher would tell you that she had to work lots of nights and weekends either on Lesson Plans, grading or School Activities.
Summers consisted of packing up her classroom, required training courses, meetings, and then setting up her classroom for the nest school year, rinse and repeat.
