Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
I hope you all had a great weekend. We had a fun weekend relaxing at home after our little trip to Florida. It was nice to be home, but we miss Florida. I’d move down there in a heartbeat, especially if I were going to continue to work in real estate. With the price of homes in that area we were in, we’d only have to sell 2 or 3 homes a year and we’d be set, the commercial market would be especially fun for me.
The NFL legal tampering period begins at 11:00 this morning (central time), so all the tampering that has been going on for days/weeks can now be spoken about openly. Contracts cannot be finalized until the new league year begins this Wednesday, March 11, at 3 pm central. Every site lists these deadlines as eastern time, so I list them in central time just to be different.
There is lots of chatter about Kyler Murray coming to the Vikings. I seriously doubt that these rumors have anything to them, I just don’t see Murray as a good fit for KOC’s offense. However, if KOC thinks he can work magic with him, then bring him in and let him try to take the starting spot from McCarthy. It won’t cost much to give it a shot.
I heard a few rumors last night on the funny channels that say the Cowboys are making a run at a trade for Jonathan Greenard. The Vikings currently have 11 picks in this year’s draft, all their regular picks, plus one extra third round pick and three extra seventh round picks. Somewhere, Rick Spielman is drooling over those four 7th round picks.
Vikings and NFL News
NFL.com repeated the rumor that the Vikings are the front runner for Kyler Murray.
The Rams and Trent McDuffie agreed to a four-year extension worth $124 million, per NFL.com. Righteous bucks.
CBS Sports fills us in with everything that happened on the Sunday leading up to the legal tampering period.
From Sports Illustrated, the high cost of free agent centers could force the Vikings to look for a center in the draft. I dunno, I thought Brandel looked pretty solid at center, especially after he got a couple games under his belt.
Yahoo Sports has the latest NFL three agent news and rumors.

Just got back from the emergency room.
Friday The Teacher thought she had an infection, went to Urgent Care, culture was negative but started antibiotics.
Sunday she had ‘Stomach Flu/Norovirus Symptoms.
Today I got back from the gym and she was laying on the bed after her shower in tears because the pain was so bad.
Rushed her to the emergency room (2 miles away), no waiting, checked right in, did blood and urine test, negative. They said Cat Scan, machine was literally across the hallway.
Results come back, kidney stone, .5cm. Gave her a gang of orders for drugs, send orders to pharmacy. 5 min away, it closes at 7 pm.
We leave the hospital at 6:30, I leave The Teacher in car and run in. The pharmacist says ‘we just got these, they are not ready yet’. I tell the lady, ‘she is in the parking lot passing a kidney stone’. She replies ‘Oh crap, we will prioritize this, please just stand to the side’. At 6:50 meds are ready.
Have I mentioned I love this place, 1 hour and 40 min from arrival at the emergency room to meds in hand headed home. The process would have taken all evening, maybe all night in SoCal, maybe longer waiting for Cat Scan.
Went from thinking she was dying to just painful (extremely) to in bed with good drugs and napping. I am emotionally spent and I was just the support animal.
I am emotionally spent and I was just the support animal.
Yeah, but you were a very good support animal.
Well done. Hope she feels better soon.
‘Hope she feels better soon’
It is a Catholic Hospital, the phrase of the night is ‘This too shall pass’.
Agreed.
I actually think Tua (if healthy, big if) can do pretty well with Stefanski and the weapons around him. He does well distributing the ball to a pass catching RB and that’s Bijan.
I think Tua could have done well here in KOC’s system with our receivers.
Too bad he and Coach Flo had words/tweets after he was fired as HC so he was never coming here.
Flo only spoke truth. Tua is not good enough, and injured too often.
Agreed that Coach spoke his mind, part of why he eventually failed as a HC, too honest.
Most important question for the Vikings….
The ‘Punt God’ is available? I thought he was ‘all that’?
So the Falcons now have two lefty QBs.
Could be a first in the NFL.
Nice…
And all it cost was Sam Darnold
Some folks thought Darnold “couldn’t win big games”. He was a choker in their eyes.
Well that was true, until it wasn’t.
Great Defense is a QBs best friend.
To those who want names of potential trades for the Vikings. I have an inside contact on a different team who shared with me the Vikings are working a trade. Didn’t say who, didn’t say when, didn’t say it’s for sure, just said they are working it. That’s all I know, he wouldn’t share names.
I have little doubt that they are always working on deals, the majority of them fall through though. But research, contacts, discussions and negotiations never stop I suspect.
I was being facetious… grin.
Don’t be throwing your Highfalutin Words at me!!
Tua turndaballova to Atlanta asexpected
Alrighty then…
Vikings get one comp pick, though it is the top one
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh i am not totally ok not re-signing Sam Darnold….we get a 3rd for losing him! Sweeeeeeeeeet
Yeah, Seattle gets the Lombardi, Vikings get a late 3nd round pick, welcome to being a Viking fan
classic minnesooooota
Former gopher, good for him on the nice payday
Giants doing a lot of work today… Harbaugh making moves.
I guess the Cardinals haven’t officially stated that they are releasing Murray, so no one can talk to him…
Trying to keep up with comings and goings…
Vikings keep:
Re-signs:
LB Eric Wilson
Tenders:
DL Jalen Redmond
LB Ivan Pace
RB Zavier Scott
OLB Bo Richter
Vikings sign:
CB James Pierre
Vikings lose:
P Ryan Wright
WR Jalen Nailor
Worst part is losing their holder, with him Will the thrill only missed one kick last year, fat boy won’t be missed all that much as a punter. Nailor developed into a useful player this season but he didn’t exactly produce consistently, maybe he will now as a wr2 with more targets, good for him getting paid after being a 6th round pick.
And the one he missed hit a TV camera cable.
No matter what the lying NFL tried to spin that into after the fact.
I omitted that one, he did legitimately miss one kick, but was absolutely the best kicker in the league last year and deservedly was first team all pro
While you guys are talking about boring old football, I just had to mention that we got a new robot vacuum. Now, back in the day, our house in Billings had about 80% carpet and as for all of our lives together I had the main vacuuming responsibilities (my wife probably did more vacuuming doing touch ups here and there but every two weeks I would vacuum the place from top to bottom, took me about four hours). At one point we had in addition three Roomba vacs, one for upstairs, one for downstairs, and one spare that previously lived at our cabin. That generation of Roombas were dumb, they randomly go from place to place changing direction when they bump into things.
90+% of our new place is concrete floor so my vacuuming responsibilities have been replaced by swiffering. Nonetheless we made a decision to send our last surviving roomba off to the Love Shack college down the road so when I found a screaming deal on a new robot vac I took a swing at it. Showed up on Friday, I let it charge (the base station has a vacuum bag that fills up over time so you don’t even have to empty the container every day), and set it loose on Saturday. It quickly roamed around the house mapping everything with LiDAR, then started its job with great efficiency, cutting along all the wall edges and then going back and forth in a stepwise fashion ensuring it covered every inch of floor space. When the battery got low, it returned to the base station, emptied and charged, and then (ahem) charged out to continue where it left off.
Highly recommend.
Brand? Price?
Monsga MS1 – $159.95.
Does it navigate furniture fairly well? Changes in flooring like hardwood to carpet?
It weaved in and out of our dining room table chairs fairly well. It transitioned carpet to floor I would say about a 3/4 inch stepoff…would not climb over the oh about 1 inch wooden threshold into my office (nor did I want it in there to get tangled up in the computer cords) but did make the smaller maybe half inch jump from our bedroom floor to the tile floor in the sun room.
It is noticeably quieter than the old Roomba and you can hear the suction note change when it leaves carpet and hits the concrete floor, it really sucks the harder surface.
when the robots take over, they will know the layout of your shouse better than you, thanks to your “iroomba”
I have a shark, it works very well, I do wish the container for refuse was bigger though
Don’t be such a slob, less for it to pick up.
LB Devin Bush to the Bores. 3 yrs $30M, $21M guaranteed.
Not a bad deal for the 49ers, Evans is still super productive and his game isn’t predicated on speed, could be good for a couple years
good deal for them
Just had a Duck Burrito for lunch.
Since The Teacher got stomach flu/Norovirus yesterday I have a lot of leftovers to work thru. Thinking Duck Nachos tonight.
I have not had duck in forever. Now I want duck. It’s tasty. All dark meat. White meat is for racists.
Hey!
lol, ok mudshark
Wasn’t sure anyone would get that reference
Never mind. He might suck. Cool nickname though.
I think the punt god is available too.
former Viking, quite a bit for a guy with all of .5 sacks in 5 years
Nailor to the Raiders. 3 yrs $35M. $23M guaranteed.
Good for him. Glad we didn’t re-sign him at that amount.
Kind of rich for us, ok with this.
Wow, you guys are busy today.
Lots of jokes and snarky comments to make.
And this differs from any other day?
More content/inspiration today.
True. Don’t usually get to make fat punter jokes in March.
I woke up in the hospital this morning. I asked the nurse, “How did I get here?” She said, “Your wife asked you what was on TV and apparently you replied….dust!”
That is why if I notice something that needs cleaning/fixing I take care of it. The Teacher does the same and since we notice different things it works out pretty well.
In RB news; Gainwell to the Bucs and Allgeier to the Cardinals.
I think they overpaid, but that’s just me, a center isn’t worth that but Vegas is a desperate organization
It’s amazing what a little legal tampering will do for a sites comment section.
Linderbaum to the Raiders on a record deal 3 yrs $81M, $60M guaranteed
$27M Avg for a center??
S Coby Bryant to the Bores
C Cade Mays to the Loins
My lesbian neighbors asked me to help them conceive a child recently. They said they don’t mind if we do it the “old-fashioned” way, as they’re pretty easygoing. For three months now we’ve been trying, but I just don’t have the heart to tell them I had a vasectomy last year.
Pretty good for an old guy!
There was an actual case of this in England I believe. The couple sued the guy for not telling them he had a vasectomy, but was found not guilty, because the couple never asked.
A coworker once said his brother did something similar with a certain isolated population in Montana that will reportedly pay you to help stave off the incest.
Back in my single days I’d have done it for bird hunting rights on the colony. Could’ve started a bidding war!
Now most of them are enrolled in Block Management. The rumor is they’ll pay a couple hundred bucks for some genetic diversity.
There was an article about the colonies in a recent Rural Electric magazine article…was interesting. I did not know that they typically split the colonies once they reach a population of 300 or so as “everyone needs to work, if there are too many there is not enough work to occupy all”.
Interesting. I don’t even know how many there are now, but it sure seems like there are plenty.
Germany had something similar.
The husband was paying a neighbor to get his wife pregnant and after 6mo or so sued when he found out from the ‘donors’ wife that the guy had not even fathered his own children.
And they say chivalry is dead…
Off to his new team.
He was a better special team holder than a punter the last few years.
I will have to start looking at punters late in my Mock Drafts.
Wow.
Saves some money on the team’s catering bills, let someone else take on that expense.
Lions LB Anzalone to the Bucs. Phew! Glad he’s off the Lions team.
The Giants are giving a PUNTER 3 yrs $12.3M
lol, who cares, look what the saints gave fat boy
Saints
Nice ninja edit
I think 4 years for $14 is cheaper.
But math is not my ‘thing’.
Giants deal is the highest per year for a punter EVER.
Yeah, that’s only three dollars, fitty cent a year.
The M stands for ‘Missing’ I guess.
Hmmmm…
What was he the year(s) before?
He’s never played more than 38% of defensive snaps, definitely a backup so far but I’m guessing Flores likes him as they were together in Pittsburgh before.
there’s an old but true saying – “If it looks to good to be true…….”
Sounds like he is ready to step up to full time starter.
It pretty much worked with Isaiah Rodgers last year.
he’s cousins with Lamar Jackson, maybe this is a plan to get Lamar!!!!
From a Steelers FB group:
A lot cheaper than the Rams new CB.
He’s not that expensive, 3 years 51 mil is pretty mid these days
I believe he is indeed talking about McDuffie
Yup.
Quite a bit for a RB, but he’s still relatively young and very productive, obviously the chefs think he’s worth it
That’s a lot of dough, but if it’s a guy to take pressure of Mahomes, then it maybe makes more sense. They can help each other.
Isaiah Likely to the Giants
Harbaugh got his TE back.
Not quite as much as reported but still a fair amount for a completely unproven commodity
Yup, thats a lot. Glad the Vikes stayed away
Malik Willis to Miami
Jaelan Phillips getting 4 years $120M, $80M guaranteed from Carolina
This is seriously shocking to me. Dude is oft injured and hasn’t had a great season yet.
Wondering if we did a little survey. We have a bit of a QB question.
Given that, who really would be the best fit to come in?
We can clearly find fault with all of them, but we need someone and none are going to be perfect.
Best fit – Mahomes.
Interesting – I wasn’t sure we could afford him.
But I like the idea of aiming high.
Allen might be a bit cheaper.
Key word there “bit.”
But you think big and that’s great.
Luckily The Teacher isn’t focused on ‘Big’.
#grin
Don’t need a QB2…run with one QB on the roster, Jefferson can fill in as needed given his QB worthy contract.
Believe KOC indicated there was going to be a QB competition – need more than one then.
I believe Jefferson could beat out McCarthy.
Well given his salary he should be able to.
YES, I’m starting to convert some fellow fans to my way of thinking.
Kenneth Walker to the Chiefs
You beat me to it.
https://x.com/Kenneth_Walker9/status/2031043477459398973/photo/1
Boooo, they are supposed to suck again for another 10 years.
Has he been hanging out with Kirk in the offseason?
He might get it, suspect he will at least $45M-ish.
Yuck.
Lol puts up 3/4 of a good season and things he deserves to be paid top 5 after being ass for the literally the rest of his career? He must have Kirks agent INDEED
Turned one playoff game into a fat payday, gets cut, turns one good season into another fat payday, lol GMs are stupid
Holy frijoles
Something terrible just occurred to me.
haven’t heard from norse on here in a while…… quite a while.
I’ve been wondering the same. Been quite a while actually.
Not a good feeling. He was an everyday poster, or damn close to it. Hope all is well.
Alec Pierce gets 4 years $114M, $60M guaranteed.
That’s nuts.
47 catches, 1003 yards, 6 tds last year
Crazy Time.
Legal tampering period.
Legal and tampering as terms. don’t seem to mesh well.
Can we get a #1 plus something for Addison?
A 1st and a 2nd for Greenard and a 3rd for Addison works for me.
Vegas got 2 1st for Crowsby so it is not out of line IMHO.
Addison is way better than a 3rd. He’s a great WR2.
When he’s not josting with the Police.
He hasn’t been in trouble with the law for like a year or more. Last problem was just skipping a team meeting to do a little sight seeing.
Thought he got arrested in a bar in Tampa just a little while back.
Little Ebor City action.
Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. Refused to leave the premises or something.
Forgot about that one.
I believe the charges were dropped, but still.
Zero chance greenard is valued at a 1st, Addison maybe but not greenard.
Crosby is worth 2 1sts but Greenard isn’t worth one?
correct
Mr. Swift returning for one more year with the chefs
I guess he doesn’t want to just be Mr Swift quite yet and wants one more year of being ‘a guy’.
I just chuckle at their financial “balance sheet” as a couple, she has 99% of the meat on the scale.
To be fair, he’s hardly a candidate for food stamps.
If they get divorced she will have to pay him alimony. #grin
What entertainers (including sports figures) get paid is immoral.
No, it’s not, it’s market rate based on the economy, millions of people are willing to pay upwards of 1k for a premium ticket to Taylor Swift, or good season ticket seats to a football game to be entertained. I’m not one of those people but there are enough of them to drive the salaries for the entertainers to where they are and somehow outs their fault?
I’m all for capitalism. I’m not a big fan of stupidity. There are a lot of people screaming how business tycoons are immoral but then pay these idiots (Swift, etc) all their money and then worship them like they are god.
All the while the tycoons are lining their pockets with billions, not millions while people complain about what the entertainers make.
Fun movie
If people where paid what they are worth Teachers, Nurses and 1st Responders would make a lot more.
Meh, I’ve seen some of the people who are in some of those professions and a lot of them don’t deserve what they make already. The good ones most certainly deserve more, but unions won’t allow pay based on actual skill.
All professions are like that.
If they were paid well more good people would take those jobs.
Would they though? I wouldn’t want to be a teacher or a nurse for much of anything and I have been in a well paid position of the other type, left, and couldn’t be happier.
The only way I could be a teacher is if I didn’t have to interact with the children.
Oh the parents are much worse than the children per The Teacher.
Registered nurses in San Jose (a big city in your former state) make on average $155-179,000 and can top over $200 if they work exclusively nights. So I’d take that profession off the top.
As a former firefighter and EMT, I think they are well paid for what they do, at least in a smaller city like Billings. Have no idea what police make but they should make more than firefighters.
Teachers…pfft…get outa here. 3 months off, no nights, no weekends, no evenings. Call the entry level pay in MT $40,000. That is plenty for what they do and the degree of difficulty of their degree.
Bad teachers maybe. My wife does not get 3 months off. She teaches most of June for summer school. She is often at school in August starting work on curriculum and then the all the teachers report about the third week of August. She is often there late helping out students or working with kids for robotics. She was gone all weekend this past weekend at the state robotics tournament. She spends multiple weekends working on the school newsletter. It is not unusual for her to be up by 4am grading papers or doing other school work.
The Teacher would tell you that she had to work lots of nights and weekends either on Lesson Plans, grading or School Activities.
Summers consisted of packing up her classroom, required training courses, meetings, and then setting up her classroom for the nest school year, rinse and repeat.
Kelce is cooked. They are better off getting a youngster in there.
Idk, he’s still been good the last couple of years, considerably better than hockenson.
Yes please get rid of Hock.
Next year. They restructured his contract so he is getting less money this year and will be a FA in 2027.
Well he will be cheap, they need cheap since they have to pay KC not to play for them.
Ok, it makes some sense from the standpoint that they can sign him for vet minimum and he’s a southpaw just like penis
And an upgrade at backup QB.
