Hey, the NFL is FINALLY going to be investigated by the Feds. They’ve enjoyed (and abused) the status of being exempt from Federal anti-trust law, the NFL and MLB being the only entities being granted this special designation. I hope the Feds finally do something right, and fine the absolute dog-snot out of the NFL. In a crazy twist, I hear that Fox Network is the organization who spoke to the Feds to prompt the investigation. Wow!
What a weekend! It was in the 60s and 70s here all weekend, we played a LOT of baseball and also did a lot of fishing. We live nextdoor to an elementary school that has a baseball field, but the field isn’t used, so it isn’t in great shape. We did a little redneck maintenance yesterday, it looks fantastic now.
The field got plenty of use over the weekend, mainly by us & friends of ours. Kiddo LOVES his new bat, the DeMarini Voodoo, and my arm feels like absolute jello. Between kiddo and his friends, I’m guessing I threw a couple hundred pitches on Saturday & Sunday. It’s the first baseball of the year, lots of rust to work out in my shoulder & arm, I’m 52 years old and have many hard miles on the ol’ body. It sure felt good to be out there, though, I love baseball more than almost anything.

Vikings.com looks at tight ends in the latest installment in their 2026 NFL Draft Prospects for Vikings series.
It looks like Baker Mayfield will be staying in Tampa, and getting a nice pay hike in the near future, per NFL.com.
Eh, this little paragraph is going to turn into a couple/few paragraphs. Mike Vrabel will NOT be attending the Patriots’ pre-draft presser, per Fox News. Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with the pictures of him and Dianna Russini (who is married) that surfaced recently, story from People Magazine (well, their website, I don’t know if it’s still a magazine. Hell, I don’t even know if they make magazines anymore, other than the type that go into a firearm).
I think it’s hilariously hypocritical that the same guy who just expressed concern about Treveon Henderson posting a Bible verse in support of an NBA player’s right to express an opinion, saying that posting that Bible verse. Yeah, banging a married gal is okee-dokee for the team, but don’t post a Bible verse, that’s just horrible and immoral. What a douchepickle.
Here’s a the story from MSN, and below is a quote from Vrabel in that story:

So at some future date.
My wife is crazy smart. We decided to pull up about 120 yards of hog wire fence and about 60 t-posts yesterday (for those that are unaware, t posts are so-called as they have a t-shaped cross section and are metal posts with nubs on them to attach barbed wire, etc. that get driven about a foot into the ground). I started on the tractor (it made more sense to me that she operate the tractor but she insisted she can’t figure out how to work it). No matter how I tried to explain she could not figure out the “loop a chain around the t-post so you can pull it with the front end loader” trick. Finally I insisted she had to operate the tractor, I actually felt bad how insistent I had to be. Two hours later my back was so pleased with my exertion it gave me special aches as a reward for pulling up hog wire embedded in the dirt, rolling it up, wrapping chain around t-posts, stacking them, and loading them in the UTV.
Basically, I got “tom sawyered”.
Is the ‘Wife crazy smart’ or is she just dealing with someone who is ‘not so smart’??

I have seen enough training videos that I can say those seem real to me.
10 days till the NFL draft. I feel less interested in this event every year. The media tries to hype up the event and make it glitzier year after year, but my interest in it continues to wane. We’ll see in two years which players were good picks, and which were not.
I am perfectly capable of ignoring the ‘glitz’ while enjoying the process.
I loved the original. It was hilarious. Why do they destroy everything that was good? Is there anything good out there to watch these days?
Certainly ratings drive everything on TV. Apparently they think this will appeal to many millions of folks around the country. That said, “go woke, go broke” is a real effect in business. More and more Americans are fed up with all this crap. We’ll see how long the show lasts.
I suspect that it is more about ‘woke activists’ and ‘political pressure’ then it is about ratings. The majority of America doesn’t want this shit.
For sure. It’s unwatchable. How is this entertaining? This is supposed to be a zany, off-the-wall show and it gets interrupted with a 5 minute diatribe testimonial (that’s supposed to be about the father but all attention and sympathy gets redirected to the person speaking).
I haven’t seen this re-make, but from what you are describing, it reminds me of old “Christian” film where they were often long sections of “sermons”, that were not subtle at all. I think it is called “message” tv. Be as blunt as possible with your message in case the stupid people can’t pick up on your message.
I’m relieved to say I’ve never seen an episode of the original, so need not be bothered bringing out the snark on the reboot.
This is where I am as well.
I’ve seen a few episodes, maybe all of season one, but I can’t recall exactly. It was not great tv, it was average tv.
The Scrubs reboot is pretty good, I think.
That’s what ben (?) was saying last week. I’ll have to give that one a try.

Now he needs to go for the threepeat. That has never been done, and it would be amazing if he pulls it off.
I actually watched the final round, Rory had a bad couple of holes early with a double bogey and bogey, but was steady the rest of the way, young and rose both had leads at one point but faltered down the stretch and Sheffler played the best round of the contenders but was a little too far back To start the round, he needed to play pretty much perfect to win, but he was just good. The Irishman prevailed. It was somewhat entertaining, some great shots, a lot of bad putting, and it wasn’t a runaway. I might watch golf again if it is competitive going into the final round
I will watch the last couple hours of a big match if I come across it. Wacky things can happen, either big runs or meltdowns that can be entertaining.

Does it mean he is the ‘Executive’ of all of the ‘Vice Presidents of Football Operations’??? How many ‘Vice Presidents of Football Operations’ do they have that they need their own ‘Executive’???
Wouldn’t the ‘President of Football Operations’ be the ‘Executive of Football Operations’ by default???? Corporate Speak makes little sense to me.

I, personally, would give him 1 more year. He showed some nice flashes, and his throwing mistakes were consistent, which might mean they are fixable. Part of the issue was coaching, in my belief. Too much forcing the ball deep, and too much to Jefferson
Well, he has the worst on-target throw rate in the NFL and also the worst bad throw rate. So by the measurable metrics, compared to all the other QB’s in the league, he’s basically the worst, least accurate passer.

I am in a gray area on JJM. I don’t care if they trade him. I don’t think he will be here once his contract runs out anyway.
But, if they want try to salvage him for one more year, I can see that, too.
I guess it depends on the trade package, too.
I think all the trade rumor stuff is totally made up by pundits. I remember years ago when NFL reporter Mike Silver said he had discovered a deal in the making where the 49ers were sending a number of draft picks to the Redskins for Kirk Cousins, and in turn, the Redskins were sending those draft picks to Dallas for Tony Romo. Silver said on air that it was an 85% done deal.
No such deal was ever in the works. Silver just made it up, went on National TV and announced it, and no one ever said anything about it after the fact. This was in 2017. Almost a decade later Silver is still peddling narratives and rumors.
So I doubt there’s anything going on with teams interested in making a trade for the worst passing QB in the league.
Probably. It is the silly season when sportscasters say things like, “I think the Cleveland Browns have a real chance this year!”
I’m pretty sure they all sit down around a table in the morning and say, “Okay, we need to plug the Browns today. They are running a ticket promotion, so the fans need to believe they won’t suck again.”
It depends on what you get – if you can recoup your 1st rounder, you trade him in a heartbeat. 2nd round + other picks, you think about it. 3rd or later, forget about it.
If a first round was offered, I would have went and broke up JJM’s wedding to get him on a plane as fast as possible.

On the JJ Mc trade rumor, the reason why the Vikings should consider the trade, is that every year he doesn’t play or looks bad, they get less value in return.
He’s likely not playing much in year three.
Yes, looks like if we trade him now we might get late 3rd round/early 4th round value….If we sit him for another year because he is awful, or let him play and prove he is awful, we are likely looking at a 6th round return.
We should cut our loses and get what we can.
