Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Beware the ides of December!

We’re having a blast down here in Florida, spent the day at the beach at St. Augustine yesterday. Rob came over to say hello, so we finally got to meet after writing together & chatting for the last 8 years. Rob is an awesome person, it was really cool to finally meet him. I think we may go to Universal tomorrow to check out the new park, and to go on our favorite roller coasters (Velocicoaster & Incredible Hulk) from the other parks. We’re planning to go deep sea fishing on Tuesday, and spend some more time on the beach. I don’t really feel like going home on Wednesday, but I suppose we will. Dang it.
NFL Week 15
It was a pretty crazy week of football, full of major injuries and teams getting knocked out of playoff contention. The Vikings were knocked out before their game ever started, the Chiefs are also officially out. Patrick Mahomes, Davante Adams, and Micah Parsons all suffered injuries which appear to be season-ending.
Vikings @ Cowboys
The game started off horribly, a tipped ball on the first throw of the game resulted in an interception. After that, J.J. McCarthy settled in and put together a first half that was one of the best halves of his career thus far, and carried that into the second half. I get that it was the Cowboys defense, but it was nice to see J.J. thrive for a second week in a row, and even improve on the week he put together last week. If he can continue to play well for the next two weeks against the Lions and Packers, then we Vikings fansmay have a legit reason for optimism.

- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.

7-3 Stealers at the half.
Neither team looks good IMHO.
Agree
Pittsburg has gotten better in the 2nd half.
Miami not so much. 21-3.
This is hilarious…
Anybody pulling for the Steelers tonight?
I’m not.
I’ll be fine either way, I don’t hate Rogers as much as I used to. I guess I’ll go for Miami since we’re in Florida.
That’s the spirit!
Don’t really care, The Douche is still The Douche so I will probably root for the Dolphins but would not get too upset if the Stealers win.
Bet your wife isn’t!
You’re correct!
Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner is a pretty good pair of starting OLBs.
This is why QBR is not a really salient metric. Cousins completed over 71% of his passes (minus the two spikes to stop the clock on the final drive) for 373 yards and 3 TD’s plus leading the game winning drive to set up the winning field goal as time expired. He earned a 117 passer rating that the two spikes also negatively affected.
His QBR was 64.8.
Its not Tuesday
It is in China.
it’s because he sucks
Your love affair with the guy is truly touching.
So this is why I’m not a Rob Reiner fan, but still very sad he and his wife were murdered in their home. Terrible tragedy. RIP.
Yes, very sad. And sadly, Trump weighed in on it with a TDS comment.
Trump’s post was gauche to say the least, but it was not a lie, or incorrect.
Yeah, he doesn’t need to do that, even if it is/was true. He could just give condolences and move on. A lesson he’ll never learn, I would guess.
Or simply say nothing. Sometimes , if you can’t say something good, nothing works very well.
Or we can just learn to accept who he is.
He tells you what he thinks/feels, no filter.
Rather that than any Two Faced Politician.
I woke up this morning and heard about the murders. Also remembered this Reiner tweet posted above. First thought, screw him he got what he deserved. But keep quite, and never said another word about it the rest of the day.
So that proves you are not Trump???
He was asked a question about it. So you would have not answered??
JRO said something about just saying something nice and appropriate. My response was or simply say nothing. Is that OK?
I also never said I was Trump. And, I do accept him for what he is.
And I do believe one could answer a question like this with a bit of grace and still not be a two faced politician.
So if you ‘do accept him for what he is’ why are you saying he should not answer a question honestly??
He said what he felt about a guy who called him a Nazi (among other things) and who helped put a target on his back. It is what it is.
Because he is the President of the United States not some Joe Blow like me.
And I did NOT say he shouldn’t answer honestly.
Ahhhh the old ‘It doesn’t matter what they call/do to him he has to be ‘above all that” argument.
He Did Answer Honestly but you still have a problem with it.
Did I say that?
And I need not create my own strawman to argue against.
Did you say what?
‘Because he is the President of the US’ he should have respond differently? Yes you did.
Did you say you had a problem with how he responder? Yes you did.
Did you say that – because you came up with some “he has to be above” which I did NOT say at all.
And did I have a problem with what he said. NO I did not. Personally, he can say what he wants and it won’t change what I think. And I think Reiner was a prick.
But, there’s about 100 million other people in this country that do pay attention to his every word. Like my wife, who’s as conservative as anyone, says to me today why does Trump have to act like a classless Jackass and say something like that. And I saw well he is what he is. And I’m reminded there’s about 20 million people who decide elections and the midterms are about how people are feeling – like how’s the President. And to some of them, however shallow you and I may think, they put value in how one conducts himself.
Oh ok got it.
You didn’t say ‘he has to be above it’ you meant ‘he should pretend to be above it for political reasons’.
Sounds like we agree on DJT but you want him to play better politics while I don’t care.
Have a good night brother.
Clearly a deranged individual, one that I cannot see eye-to-eye with, but yes, sad he lost his life that way.
Lib on Lib crime.
I loved some of his movies, but didn’t like who he turned into when he got TDS.
Same with Stephen King, loved his books but who/what he turned into was sad.
On a side note, a few months back I decided to get my Certified Weld Inspector certification. I can happily say that I passed my final test and will be certified. Only 30% of people who take the tests pass on the first try.
Congratulations.
Any type of certifications in. the trades is a big deal. We need more people pursuing trade type work.
It has been a grueling 4-5 months of studying and testing.
Hopefully it will be worth it.
It’s all about the respect.
Well Done!
Nice. Congrats JV. I like it!
Awesome, man!
I know we all kind of ripped on KOC for his play calling up to last week. But, I wonder if that was part of his process, put a lot of learning and information on JJs plate to overwhelm him, and than just step back and let him play. JJ seems to be playing loose and not making bad decisions, yes I know we are playing bad Ds, but maybe his brain did a hard reset, but retained all of the information he learned over the first 6 games.
Like I mention below, if he had not been injured, this reset could have taken place in week 7-8 instead of in week 13-14.
It’s a fair point. Pressure makes diamonds right?
I may not agree with the philosophy, but I can understand it. I may have backed off a couple of weeks earlier, after JJ sat for 6 weeks, just to keep us in contention.
KOC is stupid and keeps trying to do the same stuff over and over when it isn’t working. Until he does it for about 6 games straight, I will assume he’s going to revert to his stupidity like he has in the past when I’ve thought “maybe he’s learning”. I can’t say I have optimism about it.
But, was he doing the same stuff to force the processing and information into JJs head. And now that he just has JJ playing the game, instead of working on progressions, play calling, leading the team, all while trying to perfect his mechanics, JJ is able to slow things down and just play. Did KOC simplify the playbook, or just simplify the process?
I think consistently poor strategy and bad decisions in key situations is mostly what I see from KOC. I think it’s more stubbornness than strategy IMO.
Did anyone else think that guy who bowled Kelly over was offsides, or did he time it right?
Offsides.
It was close, since it wasn’t called he therefore was not ‘offsides’.
Not only did I think he was… In fact he WAS offsides. But as we all know in sports, it’s only cheating if ya get caught!
Offside!
Offsides
offsides
Timed it right.
Nice win last night. Screw draft position. I want the purple to win out while JJ hopefully keeps progressing. Skol!
Agreed,
Draft position is a silver lining that you might console yourself with when you are losing.
Winning is progress, quality reps for JJ (QB), and building toward next year.
KAM has enough draft capital already for ’26 if he can use it effectively.
That last sentence is key. IF he can use it effectively.
Key phrase there
I am not as concerned about this years draft, as I was the 2nd and 3rd Kwesi draft. I think he has made good progress as far as drafts go.
I have said all season, that I give the Kumbaya Krew another year at least, maybe two. I think the team is on the right track, trending upward.
While I expected 9-11 wins, and a wildcard playoff spot, the team is losing the close games they won last season.
I will gladly take the last place schedule next season, and JJ as QB after another offseason of work.
Yes, I’m happy with winning and progress. I’ll also be happy if we lose but see progress from JJ. In any case, reps and health are huge for him.
Screw draft position INDEED! At the same time I hope KOC takes more risks and puts JMac in tough situations kind of like Pre-season. Screw analytics at this juncture, go for it on 4th down (within reason) etc…
The beauty of my position (JJ keeps progressing, while the Vikings lose the game) is that watching the games, like last night, is stress free. Like when Aubry (sp?) kicked that knuckle ball on side kick I kept waiting for an expedited review saying that Oliver bobbled the ball, etc…
In the past if that play had been overturned and Dallas went on to win in OT, I would likely go to a dark place and only give my Lab one milk bone treat at bedtime instead of two.
Yes ‘Hope for the best but expect the worst’ gives you some peace of mind.
Being eliminated means you can concentrate on ‘progress’ rather than ‘outcome’. Unless you have bets or fantasy league outcomes to worry about.
While you probably right, it still kinda sucks to be playing with four games left and already be eliminated from the playoffs. Just seems to much to me like Jets/Browns/Giants territory.
Think I’d rather suffer losing a big game than not being involved at all.
We were basicly eliminated two weeks ago I have recovered from it already. Looking for silver linings like quality reps for JJ (QB) and draft position.
Yes, having one season where we are eliminated early puts us in Jets/Browns/Giants category. I don’t know too many people who thought we were going to get through this season without ups and downs. I did expect us to be in playoff contention, but the ankle injury JJ got in the Atlanta game set us back 6 weeks. If he had not gotten injured I would guess we would be looking like we are now 6 weeks ago, with plenty of time to correct the ship.
Were you being sarcastic with your first sentence, or just condescending?
And the people you know can be quite different than the ones I know.
I was being honest, the Jets, Browns and Giants to some extent have had decades of bad teams. We are nowhere near that category. We had one season where we are eliminated with multiple weeks left in the season out of the last ten. We will be contenders again next year.
Can it not, even but for one season, suck just like the Jets (et all) being eliminated so darn early.
As this season. started, most analysts indicated we had a SB talented roster and we were built to be “QB proof”. And, the NFC is somewhat weaker this year – a good. time to make hay.
If the goal is to finally get a SB, this year was a good opportunity. I believe even with Jimmy G level quarterbackiing we could make a run.
And at least to me, we didn’t fail, we failed miserably.
It definitely sucks, but I am not throwing us into the same category as the bottom dwellers of the NFL. If we have ten years of this, than yes I would compare us to those teams. I still believe, if JJ does not have the high ankle sprain in week 2, we are contenders this year. Unfortunately his injury cam as we were playing the weakest stretch of our schedule. If he had those 6 weeks back he could have had the game slow down for him sooner and we could have recovered.
Actully think Wentz’s injuries hurt us more than JJ’s.
I think having to play Wentz hurt more than anything. JJ’s injury set us back 6 weeks.
Well from what I say, JJ was simply not ready to play at the NFL level at the start of the season. Wentz was and was doing OK till he. got all banged up.
I thought Wentz looked like hot garbage the second he stepped onto the field. I believe I made myself very clear on this.
Nobody expected JJ to come in and light the NFL on fire. We knew there would be ups and downs, but that’s to be expected.
Guess we watch and see games differently. After watching JJ the first couple of weeks, I thought Wentz looked like Joe Montana in game three against the Bengals.
I thought
Wentz looked bad in the Cinci game. If it hadn’t been for Isaiah Rodgers, we would have lost to Jake Browning again.
We beat the Bengals 48-10, and Wentz completed 70% of his passes with two TD’s, and a 129.8 passer rating.
Wentz was brought into camp on 24 August. Our last preseason game was 22 August. Our first game was 8 September. 3 weeks after coming to the team, with only a few snaps with the starters in the week leading up to the game, Wentz showed up and completed 70% of his passes and threw 2 TD’s. We won that game, but lost the next one even though Wentz played decently well with 350 yards and 2 TD’s and 2 interceptions. Then we won the next game in Dublin where Wentz completed over 73% of his passes and threw a TD as well. He got hurt in that game, but battled hard against the Eagles the next game, throwing for 313 yards. Got more hurt in that game, and then fought valiantly in his last outing where we all saw him on the ground writhing in pain.
Wentz was not hot garbage.
Don’t forget the Chiefs are in the same boat as the Vikings as well. And the Cowboys. Don’t forget the Bengals and Falcons. The bad teams were just really bad this year meaning to make the playoffs you’re going to have to have at least 11 wins this year. Is what it is. As long as JJ keeps progressing, next year will be brighter.
Chiefs and Cowpies are worse off. They already signed the QBs to huge contracts. Vikings have two more seasons to build a better roster, then either pay JJ or find his replacement.
I expect next season will be more fun.
I’ll take the Chiefs and all the SB’s situation over ours even if they suck right now.
Now the Cowboys, screw them.
Yes, we should throw the Chiefs in the same category as the Browns and Jets as well.
You monster!!
LOL…my most effective threat to my dog is “Don’t make me clean your ears!!”
RIP Rob Reiner and wife.
Evidently he was murdered and his son is a suspect? So very sad.
He was woke but he made some great movies, A Few Good Men, Spinal Tap and Princess Bride among them.
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/live/rob-reiner-and-his-wife-found-dead-at-their-la-home-follow-live-updates-135653603.html
Yup, a great director. Don’t forget about Stand by Me, one of my favorites.
Another great one.
Based on a novel by Stephen King, another woke/leftist.
I forgot he did Stand by Me. My wife had never seen that so we watched it recently. Such a classic.
I’ve never seen Stand by Me. I may have to take the plunge.
Just a heart warming, good movie about growing up in like the 50s. A good coming of age movie and about friendship.
how come josh oliver can handle a really hard thrown ball but justin jefferson can’t (according to all the jefferson apologists saying mcfragile throws the ball to hard)
asking for a friend
I just think JJ and JJ are in their own heads when it comes to the pressure of developing a connection. They want to help each other, but put too much on themselves to force it.
It’ll come.
they did say on the broadcast that mcfragile did feel pressure when throwing to JJ, so that’s….not ideal
Agreed, I have been saying this too. It’s a mental thing, luckily they are BOTH seemingly very mentally strong and resilient, it’ll all be OK.
The hard throw stuff is BS. Most receivers would prefer a harder, firm throw, as opposed to a softball they have to wait on. They like the ball hitting their hands firmly. Now, this does not mean a 100 mph fastball from 10 feet.
Drops at this level are mostly lack of concentration, or simply thinking too much what they are going to do with the ball after they catch it.
I agree with this. Catch the darn ball! No excuses for some of his drops this year.
Jefferson specifically said that the one he missed in the endzone was because it got there faster than he expected. He’ll adjust and be fine.
LOL what a bunch of crap, excuses excuses excuses
I think he missed it because he was doing a Keanu Reeves Matrix-type of dive in the end zone.
Obviously, Oliver has better hands than JJettas.
You still ready to throw McCarthy in a pit of fire?
yes, and then draft Fernando Mendoza
Screw the apologists, Jets hasn’t said anything about it, it’s on Jets, he knows it, he’ll fix it.
Jets is trying to force a trade?
freezey is getting some serious street cred with all of the thumbs down.
it feels good!
Been the lie of the left for decades now. Time for the world to wake up and smell the coffee.
Why so much hesitation to denounce the Muslim beliefs related to the attacks?
The left wants the Muslim vote (which they get) so they push the Islamophobic narrative, and protect them at all costs. And I do mean at ALL costs.
The left doesn’t care about the country. They only care about winning elections. James Carville has said it overtly many times. Their only reason for existence is to win elections.
Just like Tampon Tim wants/needs the Somali votes so he was willing to let them steal a $Billion from tax payers.
Exactly… they are sick in their heads with a madness for power.
Yup, just like the right. But nothing will change as long as we stay divided.
Disagree totally. The right doesn’t want you to believe a man is a woman. The right doesn’t have ballots and drivers licenses printed in China and used to sway an election. The right doesn’t launder money through NGO’s that goes into paying for political campaigns, the right doesn’t import millions of illegal aliens that they want to give amnesty to, to create more votes. The right doesn’t kill their political opponents. The right isn’t in our schools teaching kids to hate themselves, and the country. And on, and on, and on. The left is totally despicable, power mad, and hateful.
But Trump make fun of people so that makes him Hitler and the rest of the conservatives Nazis.
You obviously need reprograming, report to the center as soon as possible.
…so they can get more money.
I’m trying to think of one right-wing extremist terror attack or assassination attempt, and I honestly can’t think of one.
Because if we are going to bash beliefs of what a group’s book actually says and few nutters believe vs the vast majority of that group we’d also have to shit on Christianity for endorsing slavery and such. It’s not Muslim beliefs that is the issue, quit giving these awful humans an excuse for their horrible behavior. They are shitty, awful people. Not their religion. Any rational person has negotiated with their beliefs to know it was written by flawed people who were products of their time so there are things we as a collective society have moved beyond. I have known many Muslim people and literally none of them condone this stuff so quit throwing them into the same group. It’s not their religion that is the issue. Any religion can be used as a weapon to manipulate people. Christianity has many examples of this including current examples.
Isn’t this within Islamic teaching? Isn’t that what’s driving them? Serious question.
The Christianity and slavery comment is so far off that it isn’t even worth discussing. But perhaps it does shed light on where you’re coming from. Perhaps your misunderstanding of Christianity is akin to a misunderstanding I have about Islam’s teaching.
Also, what current examples do you have of Christians performing terrorist attacks like this? Honest question. I can’t think of one.
I can remember plenty of self-important Christians bombing abortion clinics and murdering doctors.
I think anyone that kills in the name of god needs some mental health care in a big way.
Agreed. I use to be very athiest and now I’d say probably more agnostic but truly if you are agnostic you are kind of by definition an athiest… sort of lol.
But I love an example Penn Jillette uses where he says, if however you define/describe God came to you and and told you to murder you’re entire family would you do it? If the answer is no, then in his eyes you are an Athiest. And if you’re answer is yes, then you are a dangerous person and please stay away from me and my family.
Good point.
I do believe in God, because it helps me survive day to day life thinking there is a reason or purpose or at least something else after this.
My belief and faith are stronger when I spend a lot of time outdoors away from tech.
I just have a problem with man-made religions created or modified to control the public.
Maybe the Hindus are correct, and I was super shitty in a previous life and I am working off that bad karma by becoming a Vikings fan and suffering?
‘Religion is a tool to control the masses’.
True, it can also be a tool people can use to make themselves, their lives, their family and their community all better.
Yep. Agreed. Plenty of good things happening in the world.
Those things do not get money from clicks though.
I am not going to ever agree with anyone that says “god told me to kill that child because he is_______”
Im in the exact same boat
It isn’t off. Chattel slavery is ABSOLUTELY condoned explicitly in one spot in bible and then over and over again is shown to never take a stance against slavery.
This is not me shitting on the Bible. Even when I was still a Christian, I knew it was because it written by people who were of a time where slavery was every day practice reality of life. These people were not God, and by such were flawed humans.
I didn’t say Christians committing attacks like that I said used as a weapon of manipulation. Take for instance the early Church stance on when conception begins… the early Church didn’t have anywhere near the stance it has now. But most everyone alive today thinks the church’s stance has always been that life begins at conception and the bible has many passages that are pro life… it doesn’t. Why do many believe that and have been radicalized to be very fervent about this? Because it’s how they have been raised and manipulated. I say that as someone who thinks killing a fetus past brain waves shouldn’t be allowed (unless it threatens the mother’s life).
This video gives a little more background on the ACTUAL history of the biblical and actual church history concerning abortion and how it’s changed over centuries.
This twisting and radicalized nature/stance on abortion HAS Lead to actions taken. Bombings, murders etc…
I use A LOT of Dan McClellan because the dude knows his stuff and is man of faith himself. Too often if I cite non-religious people they get dismissed for that reason. But Dan has faith in God, and is a genuine scholar of the bible. Not someone trying to tear it down but thinks it should be taken seriously and not manipulated.
This is the convo I didn’t want to get into (again), but here’s a quick summary:
“Slavery” to a modern American is not the same as the slavery back in Bible times.
Passages in the OT law concerning slavery consisted of regulations for the nation of Israel (societal law and ceremonial law), not God’s laws for mankind of all time. Christ fulfilled the law for us all, as it was all pointing to him, and thus we are not under the Israelite societal and ceremonial laws anymore. (The moral law, however, is for all people of all time.)
Passages in the NT about slaves reflect that upwards of 1/3 of the world consisted of slaves at that time. Naturally you were going to have many slaves who were Christian. The NT authors (e.g., Paul) encourage slaves to continue to show reverence for God more than anything no matter their station in life. The goal is to emphasize the importance of the gospel message for people’s eternal salvation.
Slaves were very much elevated by Christians to a point they never were with the rest of the world. Even Pliny the Younger wrote about Christians having slaves serve as deacons, something unheard of because of the authoritative position deacons would have.
Also, there is plenty of biblical proof that God believes life begins at conception. (Also: If not, when does life begin?) The importance of the spirit (or soul) in biblical thinking alone refutes any other position. Two examples off the top of my head: David saying he was sinful since conception (Ps 51:5) and John the Baptist leaping in his mother’s womb.
Christians followed the Muslim example of exporting slaves from Africa.
All races had slaves. Only white people fought to end slavery.
True
strong disagree from me on this one. While Fundamentalist types in every religion can be and are dangerous, the Muslim faith calls for the eradication of everyone not committed to their god.
The Koran itself preaches intolerance toward other religions. Sura 5 contains the following command: “Take not Jews and Christians for friends… He among you who takes them for friends is one of them… Choose not for friends such of those who received the Scripture before you [Jews and Christians]… But keep your duty to Allah” (verses 51, 55, 57). Extreme intolerance is commanded in Sura 5:33 — “[For those who do not submit to Allah] their punishment is… execution or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet, from the opposite sides, or exile from the land.”
I call bullshit.
And yes, I remember reading about the crusades. Ask me about my thoughts on Catholicism. Pretty damning that the wealthiest nation on earth is the Vatican. I am not a fan, however I am not expecting the Spanish inquisition…
My point is, most religions do not call for the extinction of people that do not agree with them. Catholics used to, Muslims do today still.
Islam is not compatible with freedom. Plain and simple.
K, then and the bible says Chattel slavery is A-OK. So if you are a Christian, because it says that you too have to support it right?
Yes, for the fundamentalists that still believe the old testament. Stoning your child for committing some sin from Leviticus is also called for.
I am with you on this, I do not think a theocracy is ever the correct path.
Theocracy in action
I am not saying there aren’t passages that can be used to promote violence, there is. But that DOES NOT describe the majority of Muslims and their beliefs.
It describes exactly what is espoused from most religious leaders once the nation is under Islamic control politically.
Sorry Edge… Islam is as much a Nation State as it is a religion. Islam believes that there is only one God… Allah. Islam teaches that all non-believers are infidels, and the enemy of Islam. Islam teaches that men should beat their wives to make them obedient. There are many other things Islam teaches that are barbaric and savage, but mostly they teach that Islam must rule the world, and conquer non-believers. Rape is also condoned if a Muslim rapes a non-believer. Slavery is condoned as well.
How could there be a mass shooting in Australia? They have the strictest gun laws in the world.
Kinda like Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country, and the highest murder rate.
Criminals don’t obey the law… duh.
Well, in Chiraq’s defense, the people who want guns are able to go to Iowa and get guns out of vending machines.
So you’re saying the laws don’t matter? Thank you for agreeing with me. Law abiding citizens get murdered by people who break the law.
He comment was in italics. That means sarcasm. Pay attention NLNVF.
I thought the guns out of vending machines was obvious enough, but I did go back and make it italic.
Yep, they should have background checks for purchasing firearms. That might help. I have literally seen people say this.
‘If you make having a gun a crime then only criminals will have guns’.
NoDak, you’re within 18 of me in the pick ’em league. Stop it.
This man is despicable and has been in Congress for almost 45 years…
Even the Dims hate him.
He won’t be back after 2026 which means we won’t have to see him anymore unless we watch CNN/MSNOW (and why would we) but we will miss his daily give to the GOP every time he opens his mouth like this.
Another lying sack of feces will fill his place. Lose-lose situation.
Don’t underestemate how long people even their side knows are scum can stay in office due to identity politics. Pelosi and McConnell are prime examples… Literally everyone knows they are scum bag, corrupt turds, yet keep getting re-elected.
“re-elected”, probably cheating
Wow. Wasn’t using his head there, huh?
He did get that marine her K9 war hero dog upon the dog’s retirement which was nice of him.
Remember all those season ending injuries that are ACL tears also means they will probably miss a good chunk of next year as well.
Yeah, it was a brutal Sunday.
” And we will weep for them…in the press.”
So, you’re saying we hopefully play in Lamblow early next year?
LOL. You mean December like every year.
This has been true huh?
also free agent addition of the year is for sure Eric Wilson, holy smokes has he been good.
Yep.
Even better than our two, new, gay cheerleaders.
they do seem very happy
Yup, need to bring him back.
I wonder if Wilson taking Pace’s job is why he is struggling on STs? It seems like Pace is trying harder to prove himself and messing things up on ST.
pace isn’t our only issue on ST…..but holy smokes is he bad on ST’s haha
Even worse than he was on defense?
Guy got juked so much he’s lucky he was still wearing anything at the end of the game. I saw him lose both shoes, a sock, and his jockstrap on one play.
i can’t wait for the Vikings to fire Matt Daniels.
For sure
Super Bowl baby!
I know we were “eliminated” from the playoffs, but…what if the west coast slipped into the ocean before the end of the season?
Then the Rams and Seahawks would not exist, so they would have to go down the list to find two other teams. If we win out and that happens…we could get a wild card yet.
That’s why you play the games!
Good Plan,
Except I have some relatives along that coast. Some of which it would make me sad to lose even if it meant the Vikings making the playoffs.
since Nailor has become our #1, i wonder what we could get for drops mcgee
Jefferson has clearly gone off the boil lately. The whole year has been a disaster for him, and he’s now in a slump. Wearing that C on your chest brings added weight. Maybe that burden is affecting him.
here is what i can’t get behind. I will NEVER believe that “because JJ’s throws can be off or too hard sometimes, it’s harder for JJ to catch the ball”
If you truly are a top WR you should be able to adjust.
JJ’s just BAD right now pure and simple and he better get it figured out
Agreed. They get paid the big bucks to catch the ball, have basically stick-em gloves, and you’re supposedly the best in the world. Catch the ball.
Right? Jets has thrived with A LOT of QBs that are all different styles and caliber of throwers. He’ll be fine. They’ll get their chemistry figured out and honestly… You can take a silver lining and go, it’s kind of good JMac is thriving without the need of constant Jets targets because if that were the case we’d all be going… Is JMac doing really well or is it just Jets?
Every time I watch an analysis of our QB (like QB School) they explain how JJ (WR) effects the play as the defense has to account for him and he pulls the coverage to him. The DBs surround him and lean toward him every time we run a pass play. He makes it easier for the other WR/TEs to get open.
Yes he is dropping passes that hit him in the hands/chest and JJs (QB) velocity probably has an effect on that, maybe reducing the margin of error. But he seems to have a focus problem, probably caused by frustration of being double covered and bumped constantly.
He has been ‘less Diva’ since we have won the last two games. I really don’t care about his personal stats as long as the team is winning and he is not causing issues in the locker room.
A+ analysis
Can’t see the ball.
He’s being blinded by the stadium lights reflecting off his teeth and neck bling.
Maybe he is worn out by all of those commercials he is filming recently.
LOL i love that i got a downvote. it was probably peterplaysbass since he thinks my takes are terrible,. but OBVIOUSLY this is a great take by me
I saw this, and tend to agree.
Credit to Kevin O’Connell for making personnel adjustments, starting last week.
Headed into Week 14, the Vikings ran 3-WR sets (11 personnel) on 70% of offensive plays.
These past two weeks, KOC has leaned MUCH more heavily on heavy personnel packages — more TEs, more CJ Ham.
It’s working. It helps to create mismatches, it helps to soften defenses, and it’s what McCarthy was used to at Michigan.
I believe I was talking about doing this a few weeks ago. Hmmmm.
Perhaps that really was a big deal. On the other hand, we played two of the crappiest defenses in the league.
There is that…
Dallas’s front is no joke though. Which I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention is our biggest weakness lol.
And, we had Skule in at left tackle.
Believe their defense has given up 420 points regardless of their front.
Yup, their defense is not good, especially with injuries in their secondary… but their front 7 are no slouch.
I heard we are not able to count the last two games as a win, due to playing bad defenses.
Where’d you hear that?
Giants defense on line 2…………
NLNVF for coach!
Unless he wants to bring back Kirko……
Laughing…
A lot more play fakes it seems too.
You know, good chance we have a last place schedule next year.

How important was the 2nd Bears game? Had we won that, which we should have, we would still be in contention.
It was huge, and falls directly on Special Teams. Team did enough to win. As bad as JJ looked for most of the game, he got the game winning drive until the kick return team took a nap.
They’ve been asleep all season
Could have easily beaten Pittsburgh too.
JJM is 4-4 in his 8 starts. As a 22 yo rookie, we are getting what is expected. Some good games, some stinkers. If he keeos up decent play in the last 3, i would say we woyld be set up for next year well. Funny, thinking ne t year with 3 games to go…..oh well
We play the Giants next. This means we’ll have played the 29th, 30th, and 31st ranked defenses in the league all in a row. One would think with our receiving corps we would dominate those teams.
And then get to play Detroit who has no pass defense and. the Packers without Parsons. Couldn’t ask for a better setup.
Yep…
Unfortunately it doesn’t matter regarding playoff/championship implications.
Giants with Dart are gonna give our defense fits.
Team better score at least 30 points again.
You are correct, Giants are bad on defense.
Dallas has a really good offense. Vikings held them to FG tries, which was key.
Need to shore up that rush defense.
Is personnel or scheme?
It sure is frustrating to watch our defenders get trucked or dragged for an additional 5 yards or more each time.
Seems to me like we’re getting pushed back or manhandled at the point of attack. I think we miss Harrison Phillips.
Were we not getting ‘getting pushed back or manhandled at the point of attack’ last year with HP?
Seems like we are getting ‘getting pushed back or manhandled at the point of attack’ for less money this year.
Vikings were the second-best team against the run last year. That’s what made our defense so great.
Yeah and I was thinking our two FA DTs cost more than HP.
KAM just thought that they were an upgrade.
Yeah, some swings and misses this year from KAM for sure.
Hargrave
Allen
Phillips trade
Tai Felton selection
Will Fries (coming back from injury, so I’ll give him another year)
Ryan Kelly (injuries again)
Isaiah Rodgers (mixed bag)
Good morning, SKOL!

One thing that is troubling, is that JJ and JJ seem to have no connection on the field. They can’t get in sync.
Nailor appears to be JJ’s number 1 target.
Definitely nice to win on national TV.
JJ looked solid last night.
The announcers kept talking about that lack of connection. It is troubling.
Yeah, but that’s Collinsworth, he’s dumber than a bag of shit
Sometimes JJ misses on the throw, sometimes JJ should have caught it, it’s perplexing
I hate to admit it, but I think Collinsworthless had a point. He said that WR1s can be difficult for 1st year QBs to get the ball to them, because they are usually double or triple covered. It is a tougher throw to make, with a lot more risk. If he keeps getting the ball to Nailor, I barely know her, it will eventually help get JJettas open.
Not possible
I agree, it sounded weird as I was typing it. Someone else must have told him to say it.
That’s possible
I feel like JJ’s injury during the Falcons game was the downfall of this years team. If he does not get injured, our offense would be playing like this 5-6 weeks ago and still be in the playoff hunt. I get we have played bad defenses the last couple of weeks, but they are still NFL defenses, and they are still trying to win as well.
I did not get to watch the 2nd half last night, so I will have to go back and watch it. Apparently the human body needs more than 3-4 hours of sleep per night.
Good win.
Always fun to see the cowpies lose.
FTP also losing was a bonus.
JJ looked better, and the INT was not entirely on him. He had the smarts to throw into the blitz, but the defender made a play. Lineman catching Int’s is usually more fun to watch.
Jefferson needs like 170 yards to hit 1k for the season. I am not sure he can get there in three games. JJ sometimes misses, and when he does not, other JJ is dropping a lot of passes he would have caught in past seasons.

I went on the Hulk roller coaster. I did not hurl, but I was felling pretty sick for about 30 minutes after. Fun, until I tried to walk after the ride. I sat on a bench while the wife and kids went on another ride…
Laughing… hey Surly, be careful on those rides!
I totally agree with you on the interception. Free runner coming at you, trying to just get rid of the ball, and it’s batted up into the air. Just one of those things. Shit happens. I thought going into the game that our receiving corps was way better than their DB’s and we would have open guys for McCarthy to throw to. Guess what? We’re playing the Giants next week and their passing defense sucks too. We’re getting three of the worst defenses in the league, back to back to back. I expect a good game from the offense. One concern is weather though. Playing outdoors in the Northeast in December can be dicey.
That gif makes me laugh. Lou throwing what looks like a stuffed bear you win from a State Fair booth where you toss a softball in a milk can or something….
I love the Incredible Hulk, also Hollywood Rip Rocket, Velocicoaster is probably the best at that park.
Fist!
Nice win on the road in primetime. The defense was pretty good against a high powered offense, they were leaky against the run though, especially in the 2rd half. other than the kicker, ST is trash again, I guess the punter is at least meh but coverage and return units suck.
Vikings couldn’t run the ball all game, but they didn’t abandon it like they have a tendency to do. Nailor looks like he’s developing into a legit WR3 and the QB seems to trust him no matter the situation, speaking of the QB, he did not suck for the second week in a row, progress…
also, as always, FTP
I fell asleep just before halftime, so I’ll watch the game on my NFL+ app. I have to say I’m in two minds here. Happy we won, and it looks like McCarthy is starting to get his act together, but we’re eliminated from the playoffs this year. Hoping we finish strong and still garner a winning record.
Only game I really care about the rest of the way is week 18, beat the FTP last game of the season and things will just feel better going into the offseason no matter what, especially if that is a game they need to win to get into the playoffs.
Playing spoiler and pulling it off is always a good feeling. For sure.
That would be delicious.
