I was extremely happy to wake up yesterday morning to the news that the Vikings had signed QB Carson Wentz to be their new QB2. Wentz has played at a high level in the past and is still capable of playing at that level. It will be comforting to know that if the Vikings lose McCarthy to injury for a period of time, the season will not be lost. I’m a bit biased, as Wentz is from Bismarck, and my wife is also friends with his mom. I wish we could’ve gotten him before the preseason ended as it would’ve been nice to see him under center wearing the purple and gold. Wentz is an upgrade from Sam Howell, as Howell didn’t seem to fit the Vikings’ offense. Hopefully he’ll be a better fit with the Eagles, all the best to him. Good job by Kwesi to get something for a guy who everyone knew they were going to cut anyway.

Well we get the Bears at their place on MNF to kick the season off. Ben Johnson has played against us a lot, and he’s gonna have a game plan. Flores will come out swinging. We’ll see if Ben can get Caleb Williams to make good choices, and move the offense against us.
This is what I’m worried about. Ben Johnson has torched Flores in the past. Hopefully B-Flo can learn from it, and hopefully the talent difference from the Lions to the Bears shows up big time.
I’m just expecting the worst (that we get smoked) and hoping for the best. Some crazy freezey guy said something about an AFC west team with the greatest QB of all time playing their starters well into game three…can’t be true, that guy is known for sarcasm.
I believe we’re the better team, and I believe we’ll beat the Bears.

So I personally know several people that went to school with him here in Bismarck and college at NDSU, as well as know his family. They all suck from what Im told. Carson is also cheap af for being rich, he owns a multi million $$ cabin up by Garrison and uses it to go hunting, he took my buddies old co worker out there to hunt, bunch of other dudes and made them pay for their own food for the trip, even when they went out, ammo, everything. Its one thing if you are all on the same level, but being a millionaire and hosting “friends” and not covering ANYTHING is a douche move. I like that he’s the backup to start but I hope he never sees the field.

To not offer is douchier. If I had that money I would host and have my friends and family not spend a dime.
Personally, even if Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos invited me to their cabin for a fishing or hunting trip, I would expect to compensate them in some way for my food (like maybe bring a couple of potluck dishes) and certainly wouldn’t expect them to pay for my ammunition.
But that’s just me.
I think it depends on if the rich guy knows the not-so-rich guy, or if he is just allowing them to use his cabin through mutual friends. I would not expect Gates or Bezos to pay for any of my shit if I were staying at their hunting lodge because I had a mutual friend.
However, if I had a personal relationship with someone who made 10 times more than me (think gouger) and they invited me to their place for the weekend….then yeah, I would kind of expect them to foot much of the bill for food, entertainment etc.

Slightly off topic but my local shop is looking to replace their MRI come January, and I have essentially demanded they replace it with a certain market leader German magnet. Their fiscal year ends Sept 30 and they said any contract signed after Oct 1 will have about 8% tacked on for tariffs (which they are currently eating). That adds up when you are talking about the price of a magnet.

I think the key would be to iron those things out ahead of time. Much like when we go out to eat with friends, we let the waitress know right away if we are splitting the bill amongst 8 couples or one person just wants to rack up sky miles.

He took a terrible hit in week 10 against the Saints when his Right Tackle fell on his ass, and the DE just pummeled him. Busted up his shoulder and elbow on his throwing arm. An NFL QB with a damaged throwing arm, isn’t gonna get far. Turns out that he was only a 7 or an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 eight months after that hit. He also had a bad ankle on the same leg with the Achilles injury. Just too banged up to do what he needed to do.
When healthy, Cousins is still one of the best QB’s in the league.
Yeah, Kirk was definitely dinged last year. The little bit I saw of him looked like a guy in pain.

What they should do is run Akers until he is injured.
Then bring in Aaron for the back half of the season to carry us through the Super Bowl.

Well now we know what won him Coach Of The Year.
Last year 8 teams went undefeated in pre-season, of which 3 made the playoffs (37.5 percent)
Of the 24 teams that did go undefeated, 11 made the playoffs (43.8 percent).
This proves conclusively that going defeated in the pre-season is detrimental to your chances of making the playoffs.
So did it get mentioned over the weekend that the annual Vikings 2025 entry of “Why Your Team Sucks?” came out at defector.com?

The writer mostly made fun of himself for believing that 2024 could be different due to the 14 wins. He joked about Darnold going from good to turning into a pumpkin, made fun of KOC’s offense for being too wordy in the huddle and Flores for being overcomplicated while Fangio runs a defense that is the equivalent of hitting “X” over and over on a video game controller. He also touched upon JJ McCarthy getting hurt in preseason and throwing a total of “12” passes in college. He even mentioned Kirk once.
So, basically, maybe he just reads Skoloholics for ideas…

Nah… Wentz is cheap… and he’s no threat to McCarthy. Cousins is gonna cost you, and if the young QB stumbles a bit and makes some bonehead mistakes… you’re gonna have a controversy.
Wentz was the safe play here.
On the flip side, if something happens to JJ, Kirk is much more prepared to run the offense than Wentz, and I think he’d be a much better mentor

You know I read this a lot, but just don’t buy into it.
This is a SB ready team talent wise with just a question at the QB position.
Now, I think you need to give a young QB some “room”, but with the talent on this team you can ‘t (shouldn’t) let the season just slip away. To this end, and as a mentor, think Cousins is much better than Wentz. And it is proven he can run this offense.

I personally think professional sports teams deserve all the mocking fans want to throw at them. It goes with the territory.
Like I would not mock the local high school team for losing every game. I’d encourage the kids to keep their heads up and keep working, recognize what they could do better and use the experience to grow, learn from, life isn’t always fair, etc.
But when it comes to guys getting paid millions of dollars, partying with groupies and coming up short on the big stage.

I guess I wasn’t that surprised on that one. Had they cut him I would have been, but he’s more of a run stuffer and was looking like a pretty expensive depth piece with Allen and Hargrave plus the young guys have supposedly been looking pretty good.

Even Marcus Sherels was eventually released. For $3 million I just don’t see what Ham provides. They don’t run a lot of 2 back sets with him as a lead blocker and he doesn’t get the ball hardly at all. If they were going to use him, you’d think he would have helped with all the 3rd and shorts they couldn’t convert.
Finally… Redskins dorked this up. They took way too long to get this done.

I’d say the first couple of weeks, Brosmer is QB2.
Once Wentz practices enough, he could become QB2.

Maybe O’Connell can put Wentz together again in some sort of usable form because that dude is broken. Ideally, he never has to play.
In the end, I am neither for or against the acquisition. May it work well.
I am for it because Howell absolutely sucks.
