VIKINGS NEWS and random stuff
Justin Jefferson is getting an MRI on his hamstring to check the severity. This would be a good time to get good news. No other major injuries to report. By all accounts, JJ is availing himself well as the new starting QB. While I expect a young player to make mistakes as he learns, the exciting part of this is that he can and will improve. Vikings have not had that in a decade. We have known exactly what we have at QB since Teddy almost lost a leg.
HOF game is this Thursday, so the NFL season will officially be under way(I count the first TV game as the start of the season) I know it is still way too early, but I am ready to make my NFC North prediction now.
Lions. I think they repeat. They are the team the rest of the division is chasing. Losing the starting center hurts, and losing both coordinators will also cause a few issues, but this team is stacked.
Vikings. Wildcard again this season. I expect 10 wins or more. Tough schedule, new QB, but once again the team will have an improved defense. Now, win a playoff game or 3. I still hold by my draft day prediction, that 2026 is the super bowl year for this team. I have to also mention that I absolutely love the signing of Mason. Having 2 stud RBs is a nice luxury.
FTP! gotta be honest, the Packers are a good team. I hate saying that. Packers and Vikings are still fighting for second place though.
Bears. Just…Bears gonna Bears. I expect a good defense and shit offense. Still.
Golf news – While I still have never broken 90, I did shoot 41 on Saturday and 44 on Sunday on the front 9 at our local course. Math is hard, but that tells me I can do it someday.

He has a bone fracture that will not require surgery and he now is expected to be out 4-6 weeks.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said Trump’s remarks today were racist, Islamophobic and anti-Muslim. All Trump said was the London mayor was a nasty person and does a terrible job in the capital city London. That’s not racist, or Islamophobic. It’s just the facts.

A mighty blow was likely dealt to the Dallas Cowboys’ offense on Monday.
Cowboys starting left tackle Tyler Guyton, was injured in practice, and feared to have torn his ACL.
Guyton is set for an MRI, and if the MRI confirms a torn ACL, Guyton’s 2025 season is almost certainly over before it began.
Guyton was a 2024 NFL Draft first-round pick, taken 29th overall.
So I saw an article from NBC stating there is a “backlash” on the Sydney Sweeney American Eagle jeans ad campaign. It’s a play on words between genes and jeans. Sydney Sweeney has great genes/jeans.
NBC claims people are associating this with Nazi “white supremacy” genes because she is white, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

So I’m trying to keep track of the wars Trump helped end or thwart since he took office in January. He thwarted the conflict between India and Pakistan and helped reach a peace deal between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. Serbia and Kosovo is another area where Trump made a difference. He has also brought an end to the 12-day war between Israel and Iran. Finally, he now has Thailand and Cambodia talking peace.
By my count, that’s five world conflicts he has quashed since taking office. Might be a historical record for a President, or any other world leader.
Im really not trying to be cheeky here, and this is a genuine question. Do you go 1 day with out thinking of, typing or speaking about Trump? It’s too much, man.

Titans WR Treylon Burks suffered a fractured collarbone at their stadium practice, while making an acrobatic, one-handed catch.

Burks will undergo further tests, but he’s expected to miss the start of the season at least. A frustrating outcome for the young pass catcher.

That would make the most sense, so it won’t be that.
The NFL is waiting to see the results of Jefferson’s MRI, and will then choose the absolutely worst time in the schedule for the Vikings to be sans Jefferson and Addison for three weeks.
Hoping for good balance on offense with JJ getting his feet wet.
Or it will be a stretch of games against two divisional opponents.

Hey NLNV – after shooting scores of 82 and 83 last week I played 2 rounds this weekend and I was awful. My driver felt like I was swinging a grain shovel. I think I figured it out though. I was so worried about getting my shoulder to touch my chin I think I started initiating my swing with my arms instead of with my hips which is why nothing felt right.
Yeah, golf is like that. Get one thing fixed, something else crops up. Just relax, swing in rhythm, and be focused on a target.
Also, have fun.
I haven’t been coaching you, but you should not start the swing with your hips. Arms is actually a good place to start, then let shoulders follow, and then hips last. Getting your shoulder under your chin is merely “completing” your backswing.
Hmmm.controversy…..most stuff I read on-line (so I know its true) says initiate with the hips..
I don’t focus on mechanics in my swing, as much as I do sensations. I sense my hands pushing the club back and up, predominantly my left hand, as I turn my back to the target. I feel the weight in my back heel at the top, and my shoulder under my chin.
That’s what I feel in my backswing.
Of course, take it back with hand (and arm) and without even thinking rest of body will follow.
And really, I’m a pretty average golfer, normally shooting in the mid 80’s. You are a much better person to advise anyone, as you can actually play at a much higher level, and have practiced, and put work into your game.
Actually I’ve just learned to score and stay away from making mistakes. I’m really good with driver, wedge and putter. Rest of my game is like a C right now. So, just sort of “manage” my way around the course.
I very much like your thought about forget all the mechanics and just swing the club.
Most everyone here who plays golf, could pick up an ax and take it back and then forward into a tree. And NOBODY would be thinking move their hips or turn their shoulders,etc. The body knows what to do, just LET it.
Downswing start by unwinding hips. Last on backswing, first on downswing.

The Euros are a mess. They want the U.S. to supplement their economies, and pay for their defense. Now the Trump admin is saying “no mas”. As I mentioned last week, made a brief but fruitful visit up to Canada to visit my mother and sisters (one full sister/one half sister). Knowing that we are on opposite ends of the political spectrum, I asked my full sister J how she felt about Carney as PM…turns out J had campaigned for the Liberal candidate in her riding in CowTown. That’s when I noticed the bumper sticker on her Soobie. As we rolled up to her home I was greeted by the forest of lawn signs proclaiming various woke slogans. Good times haha at least we can agree to disagree and she said she won’t be visiting me stateside while the current pres is in power. That is a big loss as the sum total of times she has visited me stateside in the last 30 years is zero.
However, while driving back a little kerfuffle with the half sister A blew up into a major windstorm, really quite the sideshow even by the standards of my familial dysfunction.
Phew. Who knew that my sis J who in the past I felt was nearly psychotic would turn out to be the rational one and A who was previously sweet as pie would turn on a dime?
Sisters. Good thing I am protected by an international border and nearly a thousand miles from the drama.

Every liberal in the room agrees with whatever stupid thing said. I say nothing or get up and walk away. Sometimes I feel guilty for not saying anything, but I have tried in the past to no avail.

I suffer from a neurological condition in that I cannot understand South Park dialogue unless I turn on subtitles. I have the same problem with some Australian series on NF.
Although the sum total of my time spent watching South Park is less than the time I take on my morning ablutions, I did check, and according to google, Joe Biden was never featured as a character on SP during his term as president. He did have a brief cameo when he was VP, I guess.

A tip to help scoring in golf (for what it’s worth).
To score in golf – put the ball in play off the tee. If this means choking up an inch on the driver and swinging at 70%, do it. Distance really isn’t that big a deal.
Then, playing safely (no hero shots), take “enough” club that you can swing again in the 75 range and put the ball on or close to the green. You don’t ‘Have” to try to put the ball on the green all the time.
Then learn to putt well enough you hardly ever three put. Secret here, learn to lag putt well. Many times distance control is more important than perfect direction.
Fairly sure if you do this you can expect to shoot in the 80’s most all the time.
Oh well, just a couple of thoughts that may help.

Those all make sense. I only missed 1 fairway, but I did have three 3-putts. My shoulder injury has made me lighten up my swing. I do not need to choke up on the club, but a less than full swing is what I have been dealing with all season. Helped my accuracy, for sure. I am fine with 20 yards less off the tee. Having the ball in the fairway is certainly worth that.
Most of my issues just require more practice time on and near the green.
Can appreciate shoulder issues. If you shot 41 with three three putts, you’re where you need to be and just tidy up the putting.
So true on putting. You are exoected to take half your shots with your putter, yet we see crowded driving ranges and empty practice greens
Rounds with just 30 putts will do wonders for the score.

Nice round Surly. I havebeen under 90 6-8 times. I am never consistent enount during a round though. I am more likely to shoot 95 than85.
