Vikings hump day discussion

Happy hump day, everyone, and welcome to Skoloholics, your home for Minneskings Discussion! Every day you can join us for the latest Minnesota Vikings news, lots of Minnesota Vikings talk, also NFL news and updates, and most anything else you may have on your mind. At Skoloholics, the real action is in the comments, so if you haven’t checked out the comments section yet, sign up and join the conversation.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope all of you had a fun and enjoyable new year’s eve. We watched the Boise State game, played some SkyJo (if you have kids and want a fun card game, I highly recommend it) with kiddo & one of his freiends, and went to bed early. It’s just after 11:00 as I write this, and it’s highly improbable that I’ll make it until midnight. I don’t see the point of sitting up so that I can watch them drop some stupid ball in New York City, I’m fairly certain I’ve never watched that in my life, however it’s possible that I watched it in my wilder days & don’t remember. Either way, I hope all of you have an awesome 2025.

Vikings News

MinnesotaSportsFan reported that the Vikings worked out a couple of punters and a couple of depth offensive tackles this week.

Kevin O’Connell talked about his strategy in the final drive to close out the Packers, from a to z sports.

The Vikings are considering the possibility of elevating Daniel Jones from the practice squad to the active roster, according to the New York Post. The move would benefit the Vikings in the event that Jones signs with a different team next season as having him on the active roster in 2024 makes the Vikings eligible for a compensatory pick in the 2025 draft. I doubt they’ll make him the primary backup, as Mullens has 3 years of experience in the system, but elevating Jones makes a ton of sense. The Vikings only have 3 picks in the 2025 draft, a first round pick and two fifth round picks, so some additional compensatory pick would be significant.

Patrick Reusse at the Star-Tribune looks at where the 2024 Vikings rank among Minnesota Sports surprises. I dunno, this year wasn’t a total surprise to some of us.

The Vikings are moving on up the power rankings after their big win against the Packers, from Vikings.com.

NFL News

The Cowboys are releasing RB Ezekiel Elliott, who hopes to join a contender for a playoff run, according to the Cowboys team website.

  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.

my gut feels is that being ranked 8 is in the middle. With at most 16 games a week, how many crews can the NFL have? 16-18? So being 8th means they are in the middle

Here’s a link to the Festivus report.

Some of the highlights include the National Endowment for the Arts funding ice-skating drag queens and promoting city park circuses. Additionally, the Department of the Interior (DOI) invested in the construction of a brand new $12 million Las Vegas Pickleball complex. DOI also allocated $720,479 to wetland conservation projects for ducks in Mexico. This year, the Department of State is featured eleven times, with expenditures including $4.8 million on Ukrainian influencers, $32,596 on breakdancing, $2.1 million for Paraguayan Border Security, and $3 Million for ‘Girl-Centered Climate Action’ in Brazil.

Well Bow, that’s true, but House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer announced a new congressional subcommittee back in November. It’s going to be called the “Delivering on Government Efficiency Subcommittee”, and it will be chaired by representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. They plan to work closely with DOGE to reduce governmental expenditures.  Senator Joni Ernst was appointed to lead the corresponding Senate DOGE Caucus as well. This is a good sign that the GOP led Congress will be working with the DOGE to reduce spending, etc.

That number isn’t exactly in context GF. The debt increased dramatically in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic responses. Tax revenues went down, as businesses closed forever, and people were out of work. Congress passed spending bill after spending bill to try to keep the country going. In retrospect, Trump was right when he tried to turn the COVID overreaction off, and get people back to work. You might note the debt went DOWN by $109M in Trump’s first 6 months in office.

That is completely different than your team benching you when you have the opportunity to reach an NFL all-time record. Sanders said he retired due to disagreements with the organization, and his own declining production. He was over 1,400 yards away from Walter Payton’s record at the time, and he was 31 years old. While he was “close” to the record, he wasn’t on the doorstep like Barkley is right now.

I agree that there will need to be an asterisk associated with NFL records. 14, 16, and now 17 game seasons change the metrics for sure.

Carries, average yards per carry should be looked at. Most people prob won’t tho.

There’s no asterisk on the current one even though he had two more games than OJ.

We were up till about 3 a.m. Nice party at a friend’s house. About 20 people, and we were jabbering away all night. I was driving Ms Daisey as it were, so I only had a couple glasses of champagne at midnight. Interestingly enough, there was a couple there who were huge Lions fans and we had some good natured exchanges regarding the teams.

First Jan 1st I can remember there weren’t 10 college games on.
Maybe I’m just not paying attention lately.

But three solid games for the day.

Talkingheads still say the Pukers are “the team nobody wants to face in the playoffs.” Idiots.

I think that they are a solid 5th or 6th in the NFC. Depends on how you feel about the Rams and Redskins.

“the team nobody wants to face” always refers to a second or third tier team that somebody thinks may have a chance of winning. Take it as an admission that they are not one of the good teams.

Where’s our prevaricating, cackling, moronic administration these days? They haven’t been seen since the election in November, and actually not much before it. The vacancy sign has been hanging around their necks, literally the entire year.

Guessing sniffer is setting a record for most vacation days at a beach house with a tax funded wall. Cackles might be in Hawaii half drunk as i type. The fact that this classless admin got as many votes as they did is scary.

It is scary indeed. Joe Biden has never done a single thing of note in his entire political career (52 years) and has mostly blundered everything he’s ever attempted. Not to mention he continuously lies about his life, his career, and his accomplishments. It’s despicable. Kamala Harris is the the most ridiculous excuse for a “National Leader” in the entire world, and probably the history of mankind, as well. Yet, people are voting for these ass clowns?

The people voting for them have been brainwashed by the fake news. They are more anti-DT votes than pro-FJB/Cackles votes. Or they are alphabet people who want everyone to celebrate their mental illness.

the fact that anyone can be an elected official for 52 years should be a crime. Everything should have term limits
