A billion thanks to Bowbunch for posting the thread yesterday, I was in Williston & forgot my computer.

Vikings vs. Packers

Sunday’s game was fun to watch for most of the game. Sam Darnold was dialed in, and the Vikings offense was moving the ball at will. With the exception of one throw that was picked off, Sam Darnold put together a masterpiece of a game. The defense stifled the Packers offense for much of the game, and it looked like Jordan Love might finish with under 100 passing yards, and they did a good job of limiting Josh Jacobs’ run production.

I need to mention the O-line, because they played an amazing game on Sunday. All of them, even Bradbury. Sam Darnold dropped back to pass 44 times on Sunday against a team that blitzes A LOT, and Darnold was only sacked once and other than that play, was barely touched by the defense. Also, Aaron Jones had several amazing blocks where he picked up a blitzer and took him out of the play. He reminded me of Chester Taylor, one of the best blocking running backs I can remember.

The lone sore spot for Vikings fans was the Vikings building a big lead and then nearly giving it up. The Vikings were up 27-10 and it looked like the rout was on. The Vikings had the ball, and the future looked bright. Then Darnold threw a pick, then the defense forgot how to stop the Packers offense, and the game became much closer than it had to be. I’d like to see the team learn how to play with a lead, it would be nice to see them win without causing a heart attack. However, the team is 14-2, so I should quit complaining. Oh, our kicker also missed two field goals. One was from 57 and landed just short, the other was doinked off the left upright from 43 yards out. Nothing to worry about, IMO.

At the end of the game, the Vikings got the W, and they completed the season sweep of the hated Packers. The Minnesota Vikings are now 14-2 and are one win away from being the #1 seed in the NFC and receiving a first round bye. Watching the Lions and their depleted defense play the 49ers right now, I like the Vikings’ chances against them next week. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!

Not to dwell but, I don’t get Pukers fans complaining about a legit off sides call to give us a second chance and 3 points on the field goal before the half.

I think that series of kicks may be what cost us 6 points in the second half. I believe those 3 kicks did something to Will’s leg.

I think Penn St wins by 10+ points tonight.

Final four will be the top 4 teams in the nation.
OR/OhSt, TX, PennSt, GA.

You might be right.

But Boise St played #1 Oregon to at 37-34 game in Oregon at the beginning of the year. Game was decided on a last second FG.
“Past performance is not indicative of future results” but I think/hope/pray that Boise has more than a punchers chance.

Guys guys guys we lucked out into having a top 3 draft pick fall into our hands with poise, accuracy, durability, and pocket awareness. On top of that, he is only 27 years old! On top of that topping, he had a miserable experience in the school of hard knocks and is locker room jelly for this team…you think he might be happy to stay here?

Are you going to throw that away by either a) taking a flyer on a rookie taken 7 spots behind him, who now has a known meniscal injury with repair and significant risk of recurrence…with a 50:50 shot of becoming a legit starter in this league, or b) franchise tagging Darnold which is only going to piss him off, turn the locker room jelly to gum, and (potentially) leave us with no long term option in 2026?

There is now way in h ….

oops I’m waiting for the offseason, not sure how I feel about the QB situation.

‘tagging Darnold which is only going to piss him off,’

KAM is not going to tag him without discussing options with him. Short term contract (2 years), long term contract, various tags vs letting him walk.

I suspect Sam wants to stay, Vikings want him to stay, they will work it out.

Michigan had a 69 yard punt for a touchback and Alabama followed it up with a 61 yarder on the next series.
It is shaping up to be a pretty good game.

The local ISP (MidRivers) has a (by Glendive standards) brand new shiny office building downtown. Signs pointing you to the drive up service window, payment drop off, etc.

Only problem is that since 2021 they have no on site staffing.

So it’s not just the government.

I was very impressed with the pocket Sam had in the Packers game. What a difference a great Coach, good to great OL, and top skill players can make for a QB. So sad that so many young QB’s careers are ruined by being drafted on crappy teams.

I made the mistake of clicking on a Yahoo article. It was about an actress that was agreeing with another actress about sexual harassment in Hollywood 30 plus years ago. I made a bigger mistake and went into the comment section. I think a psychologist could write a whole book on the article and the comments. Of course there was some lady that basically blamed all men. I know I can be oblivious at times, but in my 40+ years of working outside of the family business, I am only aware of one sexual harassment case in a place where I worked. Also, most of the places I have worked have been populated by a large percent of females. Women can harass each other also. My biggest question after reading the comments was were are these people working?

I can tell you from first hand experience (visiting dad at work) that in the Canadian military of 45-50 years ago there were no enlisted women on base, but there were frequently female civvies serving in secretarial roles (at least in Germany). These female civvies were often single and I’ll just say that if the banter that took place in those days were uttered by me today I’d be fired in an instant. Things like “hey Jean Jean the sex machine what you got under that blouse” were de rigueur before signing a request for additional niffle pins or lemmy gaskets.

My wife was making a chicken and broccoli casserole yesterday. A delivery came from FedEx, she needed to open the shop aka the dog’s den, so she put them in the living area so they didn’t suffocate by salivation the delivery guy. 30 seconds passed and she realized she had left the casserole dish open on the counter as she hadn’t added all the ingredients. Bubba the younger had already daintily scarfed three chicken tenders and most of the broccoli while balanced on his back legs, without disturbing the casserole dish so as to make it appear to be divine intervention.

The score was 20-3 when Darnold threw up the INT…I remember thinking if we can march down the field and put up 7 here we will be up by three TD’s and three 2 pt converts…game over. But if we can’t do that, at least run clock and don’t throw an … GD IT!

Reichard actually missed three FGs but the refs gifted him a do over. Sarcasm noted but I am very concerned at his trajectory.

Easy guy to root for as a person, just unending frustration for me watching him play poorly at the worst possible moments, over and over.

Glad he got paid by ATL, and even happier the Vikings have moved on.

I agree Freezer. His contract killed us, not his play. Yes, he was not very mobile, yes he was somewhat risk averse, but he was very accurate and could throw a nice deep ball. He needed a good team around him, and at $40+ million, it was not possible.

Yep. Kirko/Rick is why Zimmers’ defense fell apart. Lack of talent will do that. Zimmer was very up front about not wanting to overpay the QB position. Two months later, Rick brings in Kirko and they both end up getting fired after wasting years trying to make it work.

It’s insane. 3 IDP spots – DB/DL/LB. Full PPR, 1/2 pt per carry, receiving/rushing first downs are a point. .25 points for a QB passing 1st down. Bonus at 100/150/175/200 receiving/rushing yards. 40 yard catch/run/throw bonus, 40 yard td bonus. Bonus for QB passing yards at 300/350/375/400. All TD’s are 6 points. Team Defense scoring is also high, as is IDP. It’s bonkers – and not my choice, I voted against the majority of these.

It does give you a wide variety of options late in the season when dealing with bye weeks and injuries. Lots of ways to score points – I’ve been leaning on Thielen the last 5 weeks and he’s been pretty good.

Lots of parity in the league. Had a 4 way fight for the last playoff spot. Also play against the median each week – which has screwed more than one team out of the playoffs.

Reply to  Mjolnir

Thats wild! And almost too much to take into consideration. We added one IDP in our main league and that was enough to cause league wide panic, mostly because the GM made the change on a random night 3 days before the draft while drunk but yeah, we made it work.

The Lions have one of the best O-line’s in the league. Goff is fully immersed in the offense now, after 3 years with Ben Johnson. His play is totally instinctive, and the offense can add wrinkles (trick plays) at their whim.

Flores MUST disrupt Goff. He has to get to him, or the Lions will put up 35 or more on us. Our offense can and probably will, put up at least 27 points. This game will rest on Flores shoulders.

Why is it considered a near comeback, when opposing teams QBs get a couple TDs at the end of a game? When Minnesota does that, particularly Kirk Cousins, it’s considered garbage time stats.

Been traveling. What a game on Sunday. Listened to it in the car via the iHeartRadio app (awesome and free, by the way). PA and Bercich were enjoyable to listen to, I have to say. Both homers, and Bercich very much cheers (and complains) like I do, especially about the refs. He provides excellent analysis, too, as he’s pointing out schematic things going on.

HUGE game on Sunday night coming up. Biggest regular season game ever? Tons on the line, and both teams are really good.

One thing I’ve noticed about almost every game that gives me great hope is that the Vikings seem to regularly be the best team on the field. They make mistakes and do their prevent thing to let teams back in it constantly, but the only games they haven’t been clearly the best team are the Lions and Rams games. They looked the best team for maybe 1.5 quarters of the Lions game, though, and the Rams game was a short week after that tough Lions game.

It’s going to be a wild ending to the season in the playoffs no matter what happens on Sunday. Fun, crazy season! Skol!
