Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Well, and ugly win is better than a pretty loss. The Vikings squeaked out a win against the Browns today in London. The Vikings didn’t have the lead for most of the game, but they DID take the lead with 25 seconds left in the game, and that’s when it counts. Wentz looked sharp and played even after being banged up in the first half. The defense did not play inspired football, IMO. The Browns gashed the Vikings up the middle with the run, and the Vikings did very little to force rookie QB Dillon Gabriel into mistakes. In the end, a win’s a win, and the Vikings are 3-2.

Down goes Buffalo, 23-20.
No undefeated teams left in the NFL.
I was not expecting that.
Same, definitely didn’t see that coming.
NE up 10 in the 4th.
Upset brewing??
So this is good QB play in the NFL. If McCarthy is capable of doing better than this, I’ll be really happy. The two interceptions were tipped passes. They’re going to happen.
Especially considering he’s just starting to learn the offense, and the O-line is littered with injuries, dude has performed above any reasonable expectation.
Patriots got a field goal to end the half. Up 6-3.
Patriots looking to score and take the lead on the Bills at the half. Ball at the Bills 7.
Couldn’t get it in.
NE took the points, 6-3 at the half.
Yeah, TE couldn’t quite snag the TD toss. Close.
Fumble Fest at Buffalo, both teams dropping the ball like crazy. Diggs dropped an easy pass.
I just checked, we only gave up 3 sacks today. Going up against one of the best defenses with a patchwork of an offensive line.
I know that Garretts was on a attempted scramble when Wentz took a lot of time and didn’t feel him coming up behind him.
I think Darrisaw did a good job neutralizing him.
Tell me I’m wrong…
At the same time? Abusing baked goods??
No Kink Shaming but ewwww.
Hmmmm… KAM?
Brandel did a good job today.
Jackson due back after the bye.
If we sign him off the 9ers practice squad he has to go on the 53.
Might be a more good-er option but I am unsure what those other options are.
I used the frustration from the first three quarters to remove a stump during the fourth quarter. Was as successful as the Vikings in removing the stump.
Congrats JV. Glad we could help. Grin.
Good way to work out your frustrations.
I have done that during my power walks, used the ‘frustration’ of people getting in my way to fuel my pace. They did do anything wrong, I am not upset at them, it is more a mental exercise.
🔨’s thoughts on the W today…
Carson Wentz is a tough SOB.
Brandel played well at center.
Jordan Mason fumbling is a problem.
Zavier Scott fumbling is a problem.
Our young IDL – Redmond, LDR, TID are impressive and continue to make splash plays.
Justin Jefferson is the best receiver in the league, might be the best player.
Wentz made elite throws in the clutch today, the throw to Addison was beautiful.
Time to get home, get healthy and come out of the bye and build on a winning record.
SKOL!

Well said

Broncos win… but it was damn close.
Yay! Eagles no longer undefeated. Other than Eagles fans, whole country is celebrating that one.
Bo Nix hung in there, and any defense that holds that Eagles offense to 17 points at home deserves a ton of credit.
Agree.
Broncos are up 21 to 17 but they left a lot of time on the clock. Gonna end up bad for them. Never play Zimmerball.
Payton playing Zimmer ball. I don’t like it. Should have stayed aggressive and gone for the TD. They got down there and did the equivalent of taking a knee three times.
Broncos have a 1 point lead with 3rd and 8 at the Philly 12. They have run the ball up the gut the last couple plays to force Philly to use timeouts before the two minute warning.
Broncos can basically run 40 seconds off the clock and kick a field goal.
Let’s not overlook/forget about what Blake Brandel did today. I thought he filled in pretty damn well, for it being his first time playing Center in his entire football career.
Addison showed up late, then he showed up late.
I’m copywriting that BTW.
I do think the talk about being tough today is something we have to appreciate. We didn’t really have our “A” game a lot today, but at the end of the game, the defense got the stop, and the offense put together a great game winning drive to take the lead. Then we finished it. The team showed grit.
True Grit.
A great classic western.
Great clip
Never take accountability or responsibility for someone else Justin. They need to man up, not you.
Didn’t realize this during the game.
Nobody else did, apparently. Wow. Should have been a re-kick, obviously. Amazing that nobody caught this in-game.
I said in the comments at the time how it took a ‘hard right about 3/4ths of the way there’. I thought maybe someone turned on a huge fan or some sort.
You did SoCal… you were the only one who caught it.
See what not drinking beer during the game will get you?
#grin
Laughing. What’s weird is, apparently no one on the field noticed either. Of course all that Guinness they had in them probably caused that.
Thanks for posting. I was going to ask if someone had a better TV than me if the laces were pointing the wrong way as it did seem to oddly head right at the end. PS In other news, so much for a Dallas loss, sheesh, the Jets are dreadful.
I’m dumb as hell. I picked the Ravens to win, not realizing that Cooper friggin’ Rush was starting today.
Well that defense isn’t doing them any favors…Stroud is having a field day, and they’re also running the ball down their throats.
I saved you last week with that Steeler RB.
I don’t know who was scheduled to save you this week but it wasn’t me.
#grin
We’re sad in this house that Lamar is hurt. Also, so many players including QB’s hurt in the league. Bummer.
Two thumbs up for the coleslaw with pineapple.
Glad you and the Mexican approve.
#smile
Laughing…
Cabbage and pineapple?
Well, I’m going conventional. Going out to pick up smoked pork, baked beans and real coleslaw – some cornbread too.
Always a good blend there JR. I also throw in some applesauce too.
I mean the meal blend… pork, baked beans, coleslaw, and applesauce.
Hawaiian Coleslaw is as real as it gets.
‘Don’t knock it until you have tried it’.

Ravens getting whooped by the Texans. Wife isn’t happy.
At least A&M won easily last night so 2 of 3 on the weekend??
Too bad the Packers can’t lose today.
Or the Bores.
Oh yeah… watching the A&M game was great last night. Then got the Vikings win. Ravens? Yeah… heavy sigh there.
Hmmm Buttholeface vs Poopeaters.
I think I will go Team Meteor.
Been a Viking fan since 68 so tend to be a bit negative. Just want to say that Jefferson fella is pretty dang good. Now if I can get a Dallas loss it will be a perfect day.
Dallas/Giants is a toilet bowl game.
That said, go Giants!!
Even worse it’s the Jets. 😀 Which would make a Dallas loss just perfect!
Dallas is playing the Jets though…
Aww, just saw NY and defaulted to the NFC East.
All in all, happy, happy, happy day.
So far so good anyway.
But it is still early.
We found a way to win, that’s all that counts in the end.
Yep… but we also had a really great game winning drive to finish it off. Gotta love that.
That last drive was beautiful. Team never gave up, despite the 2 turnovers.
I think that the ability to keep fighting is an important but often overlooked skill in the NFL.
And maybe in life as well.
Amen
‘It doesn’t matter how many times Life knocks us down, what matters is how often we get back up’.
Indeed.
Does anyone know why Stefanski was calling timeoouts on our last scoring drive. He actually made it easier for us, and they still had no time when they got the ball. I just thought it was terrible coaching.
Think he challenged the call that we got out of bounds to stop the clock.
Challenge failed so he lost the TO.
But then he called two others next two plays. Gave us time to regroup and KOC could call a play and we didn’t have to even use hurryup.
He was banking on his #1 ranked defense holding us to at least a FG so he wouldn’t need those TOs. It didn’t work obviously but hindsight is 20/20.
The chance of going the length of the field for a TD in 19s was slight at best, especially with a rookie QB in his first NFL start.
Trying to conserve time for his offense to have one last gasp… didn’t work out though.
But he didn’t conserve time either.
Wife is broiling some quarter pound hot dogs with baked beans and coleslaw. I’m a happy man.
Does the coleslaw have pineapple in it?
A southern favorite.
I have never even heard of that SoCal and I’ve lived in the South for many years of my life.
Ok, maybe a NoDak favorite.
Wife says we have pineapple… gonna give it a try.
Ok, maybe a NoDak favorite.
Some call it ‘Hawaiian Coleslaw, but there are dozens of recipes.
I mostly grew up with pineapples in my Slaw.

Coleslaw with pineapple sounds delicious, I’ll have to try that.
I like better than without, but then I have a sweet tooth.
My mom made a coleslaw like side with cabbage and bananas. It sounds weird but is delicious.
I have not heard of that one before.
Browns have the #1 defense in the league, so the offense did pretty well. The Browns offense is one of the worst in the league, I expect more out of the Vikings defense.
Gabriel looked servicable.
I figured the D would have eaten him for lunch.
I think missing Van Ginkel and Cashman might have had something to do with it though. Still held them to 17 points after two fumbles, was pretty good.
Good points.
They bend due to bad tackling but managed enough stops.
True, good point
We were all complaining about our defense today, but in the end, they held the Browns to 17 points, and got us the ball back in the clutch, so we could win the game. Oh yeah, they held on for the last 21 seconds to secure the win too. Not bad actually.
How much was our D coming up big and how much was it the Brownies coming up small?
Maybe both?
they are a pretty much a running team with a poor passing attack. And a QB who hadn’t played before. Yet, they were running right thru us most of the game. Kind of makes me worry about the Lions ans Packers running games.
