The hype and hysteria from the draft has died down, and we enter another lull in the NFL news world. Next items up will be mini camps, which will ramp up in a week or two, then the NFL schedules should be released in mid-May. Then, there is basically nothing until the end of July when training camps begin. It’l be slow, but we’ll trudge onward. Bring on the smoker and crock pot recipes!

TY! So interesting…I’m definitely swinging my arms and not releasing to maintain control and it’s robbing me of speed. I’m going to try and work on releasing the club with my wrists tomorrow at the balloon factory. I have a feeling that’s a lot of my distance issues. I should hit it close to 300 but something is off and that’s likely it.
How far are you hitting your driver now? What’s your normal miss? i.e. draw, slice, etc
Usually 250 on the course…our simulator is usually 20-25 yards short of reality on the course..carry is accurate but naturally rollout is just a calculation of club head speed and spin=x. I miss both way but a fade is my normal shot shape. I can work a driver right or left on command but I can also pull and push as we all do.
That is not bad at all. 250-260 is about my max right now. Driving the swing w my right hip added about 30yds for me this year. Was definitely more arm swinging up til now. My miss was always a big hook. Now it is more likely to be a push unless I get lazy and don’t drive my right hip forward.
I have not attempted to hit a ball yet but just swinging a club in the house I can feel and hear a difference. That said it’s not natural at all so I’m sure it’ll take time to blend this in.
It is interesting. I watched it the other day you posted it.
The issue I have is that when I let my wrist takeover during the swing, I get more loft and less distance. I use that swing in the sand and on short chips.
I will have to try and see if I can sense a difference on what he is saying if it ever stops raining out here.

Bucky Brooks: Jordan Addison A Front-Runner For Offensive Rookie of the Year
NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks thinks Jordan Addison will be the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023.
Ummmm Bucky… he’s likely WR3 at best for the Vikings and target #4. JJ, KJ, and Hock will get the lion’s share of the targets because, you know, they have already played in the NFL and more importantly KOC’s offense.
i think at start of season he is ahead of KJ.

KJ at times shines, but other times runs sloppy routes. He also needs to hold on to everything he gets his hands on. But he should really know the system.
Addison will play his way into the 2 role before long, IMO.
Not when defenses double JJ which they will. Hock and Addison might have huge years.
You might note that Cousins routinely threw the ball to JJ last year when he was doubled and bracketed with a safety over the top.
I do wish he would have just flicked it early before the rush got to him and put it up to JJ on that 4th & 8 play. What’s the worst that happens and good chance JJ gets a PI or catches the damn thing.
Well if you watch the all 22 of that play you’ll see that JJ wasn’t looking for the ball at all and eventually just tails the route to the sidelines. If Cousins had thrown the ball JJ wouldn’t have even known it.
I do too, if nothing but for the detractors But realize that is not the smart play. They had 7 DB’s on the field and 3 were on JJ. No way they were going to give us another call after the ruffing the passer call just before. And fourth and eight is not fourth and eighteen. The play we had going would have worked – just needed another half second or so. .

You may be right. But something I find interesting. This is a Vikings site and I believe the play of the year in the NFL was the 4th and 18 completion in Buffalo. I’ve been here for a month or so, yet that play is hardly mentioned. Seems sorta strange to me.
I hope the NFL features that play in their commercials. Like how we had to gag watch that play that never should have happened at Ford Field where Rodgers gag tossed it 60 yards for Rodgers II puke – again and again and again they featured that dumbass replay.

Eventually the video posted on that string Lifer. Darrell Klassen video on releasing the club. There’s a part in there where he swing the club back and through like I do and I can clearly see how weak a swing it is. I hit the ball solidly but with no real power. He talks about snapping the clubhead through the ball with your wrists and fingers which I have never done in my 40 some years playing golf.
I’ll have to try and find it..it’s so true how power in the swing is different for everyone. I was testing my new driver shaft today, swinging 85-91 mph clubs head speed knocked a few 225 yards then a fellow workers dad came by he’s probably 65 ten yrs older and swing a driver 97 mph and about 250 yrds. Granted he’s a single handicap player and played golf for decades but someone old, less flexible and not nearly as strong or in shape and easily out drives you is frustrating to day the least.

In all seriousness, all of the rule changes have been great. 2.5 hour games where there isn’t an eternity between pitches, the rules they made last year regarding the frequency with which you can change relief pitchters have all been really good for keeping the game moving.
It would be basically like if football didn’t have a play clock….thats what baseball was like….I still liked it because I have an attention span longer than a virgin’s first time, but this has made it much better.

It has nothing to do with attention span. I can spend HOURS editing music, playing music, engaging in something. But damn baseball on TV is pretty boring. Always liked going to games, that’s fun. I need to engage with something or I get very bored by it.
I always think of the scenes in A Clockwork Orange where Alex has his eyes peeled open watching the violence. That’s what it would take for me to watch an entire baseball game. I’d be stark raving mad by the bottom of the fifth.

Yeah there is no comparison for me. With the exception of play between the whistles there is always something happening during a hockey game. Baseball is 1 part action to 99 parts tedium.

Actually we need not pussy foot around with words. Tape doesn’t lie. Go back and watch the 2018 Rams/Vikings game – shows everything. Goff threw for 500 yards and 5 td’s. Kirk palled in comparison – 425 yards and 3 TD’s. Cousins got sacked four times, Goff once and Rams won 38 – 31. No need for cutsey clever words – game shows it all.
I remember that game, Barr covering Cooper Kupp down the field lol. Ultimately the game ended with a Kirk strip sack on the final drive. Goff moved on to Detroit and has basically the same stats as Kirk since, similar players.

I got a DUI years ago and had to go to a victim impact panel, the biggest impact for me and many others was the story of a guy who drove drunk and killed a 6 y/o boy, he talked about how he tried to live the rest of his life in a way that made the impact that the kid would have made.

Watched Hall’s highlight reel last night. Granted, it was a “highlight” reel, so all plays looked good. But…..
He’s got the makings of a really good QB2, and could develop into something more. He has much better mobility and pocket awareness than Cousins has. Puts a really nice touch on throws, hitting receivers almost perfectly in stride. Arm strength was supposed to be his weakness, but I saw a couple of throws that had 50 yards of air.
I’ve never seen in him in a game, so I’ve never seen any of his bad plays. Good pick. Should be able to replace Mullins in 2024.
He could be the future Cousins in the NFL. I’d take that on a rookie contract. Allows you to build a proper roster instead of grasping at straws.
I agree it’s all good plays but I don’t get the lack of arm strength. Dude can throw on a rope. I think the raw ability is there. Just needs to see if it can be developed into consistency.

Whoever decided this was a good idea either doesn’t understand marketing or just didn’t give a fuck because even without doing the actual research anyone with common sense could’ve told you the common bud light drinker would not respond positively to that ad campaign.
I think the fact that certain agendas are pushed so heavily by the media makes the people on the coasts think it’s a bigger movement than it really is and they always forget that the country between the coasts may be sparsely populated in places but it’s pretty big still. It will be telling for me this summer at the lake, rodeos, fairs, etc around here. Bud Light has by far been about 90% of the beer consumed at these events out here. I am curious to see how/if that changes.
