Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
The week is almost wrapping up, a big weekend ahead with a big game early Sunday morning. I like the early games, as I still have most of the day left to enjoy after the game. Kiddo and I are going to fish the tailrace on Saturday night, so it’s gonna be a groggy start to the early morning, getting up at 8am isn’t as easy when you get home from fishing at 3am (hopefully they’re biting & we’re there that late). Let’s hope KOC can construct a game plan that will minimize the offense’s biggest weakness, which is obviously the O-line.
Will the Vikings beat the Browns on Sunday?

OK, gotta hit the sack. Gotta be up in 6 hours.
Rodney is the king…
Love this!
He is having a great time this turn in the oval office.
He is indeed… and totally owning the Dem’s. Nothing they try to use on him works. Worse, it usually blows up in their faces.
What a defensive stand on 4th down to end the game by the Niners.
Our support made all the difference.
LOL
Oh yeah… it was definitely us… grin.
SF Doinks in a FG and QB banged up.
Lambs have a chance for a TD and the OT win.
Lambs stopped on 4th and 1 at the 10.
Game over 9ers win 26-23.
Hell of a game.
Yup.
Seems like we were the only two watching it.
Their loss.
Zimmerball by the Niners results in the Rams getting the ball back and tying the game with a field goal. Overtime.
Lambs fumble on the 1 yard line with 1m left down 23-20.
Sounds almost like a Viking-Bills game.
Crazy
Rams have the ball back with 42s left.
Ball on the 50.
FG try with coming up.
6 sec left, FG good.
OT coming up.
Still laughing about this…
‘Trump, we don’t deserve him’ is a regular segment on the Gutfeld show.
Tyrus is a regular part of the show.
He’s great. I’d love to meet him one day.
He should be touring in Florida eventually.
We are waiting for him to come to S. Idaho.
Niners go up 20-7 but Stafford, making some great throws, brought the Rams down the field for a TD. 20-14 Niners.
Addiction is a horrible thing. It affects so many people outside of the one with the addiction.
My family just found out that my grandpa has a Viagra addiction.
No one is taking it harder than grandma.
We’ve been told that no illegals receive free healthcare… and yet here it is…
It is all word games.
They are not ‘Illegals’ if they were let in under temporary status that was extended and then they were granted access to medicare during Covid.
Then, per the Dims, they are ‘practically citizens’ and are certainly Americans, South American is still America right??
Niners with a great 5 minute drive to start the game. Big TD to go up 7-0. Very impressive with all their injured players out.
They established the run and then hit them with some sneaky good pass plays.
Shanahan is still a great play caller.
Yeah that Lambs fumble while they were driving for the score was a great play call. Almost as good as calling a Pick 6.
#grin
Amazing… wasn’t it?
Grin
Two people were killed and at least four more were injured in an attack on a Synagogue on the holiest Jewish holiday of the year in Manchester, England.
Today is Yom Kippur, the Jewish holiday centered on repentance and atonement that involves fasting and extended prayer.
However, during this mornings service, at approximately 9:31 a.m. local time, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent, Jihad Al-Shami, drove a car into pedestrians and then began stabbing individuals outside the synagogue.
I guess we need to start banning assault cars and knives now.
A Syrian-Brit attacking Jewish-Brits on Yom Kippur and the leftwing British still say that they don’t know what the motive is.
Just like that there are lefties who don’t know Charlie Kirks killers motive.
Yeah… leftists are working overtime all over the world to convince us we just don’t understand…
Not good. The Niners ruled out quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) and receivers Jauan Jennings (ribs, ankle), Ricky Pearsall (right knee) and Jordan Watkins (calf).
Those guys are in addition to a list of players already missing that includes tight end George Kittle (hamstring) and wideout Brandon Aiyuk (knee).
Waiting to hear from Kyle… I’m in my prime.
What does the Viking Fan Rooting Guide say about tonights game??
Both the 49ers and the Lambs are 3-1. I guess we might hate the Lambs more after last years two games.
It’s always great when Shanahan and McVay face off. McVay was on Shanahan’s staff when he was the Redskins OC. McVay is one of the top branches of the Shanahan coaching “tree”. I don’t care much who wins. Just like the matchup.
You are right, with all the injuries the 49ers should be the underdog.
I like a good ‘underdog comes thru’ story.
Boo Lambs.
This just in…
Not me.
But then I don’t speak Golf.
JJ (WR) says having lots of different QBs throwing to him is not really a big deal.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nfl/breaking-news/article/vikings-wr-justin-jefferson-confident-in-offense-even-with-uncertainty-at-qb-position-210058490.html
I think Jefferson has excellent media skills. This was a good response that covers all the bases. He had one QB for his first four years though, and that QB was one of the most prolific in Vikings history. A vet that he was a locker mate with, and who undoubtedly gave him sage advice on how to be a pro, and a great receiver. Then last year he had another vet, who had his issues, but throwing the ball was not one of them. It’s really only this year where he is now in flux with his QB’s and has to be a great receiver, teammate, and yes, leader. And you know what? He’s ready for all that.
5 ‘sister kissers’ voted in the pole, huh?
I only see 4.
No Kink Shaming.
*my sister is a Lesbian, I think that would make it even worst*
I used to play in a lot of tournaments, and this is one reason I stopped…
So this is a four person scramble, is the score net or gross? I think the lowest gross I have seen on a four person scramble is around a 52…so yes, a 38 seems a bit doubtful.
I started seeing scores in the mid to low 50’s popping up in tournaments about 15 years ago. These were non-handicap tournaments, so the scores should have reflected an actual tally, not modified with a handicap. It got worse every year. 49’s became more frequent. That’s 23 under par for 18 holes. It means you birdied at least 13 holes, and Eagled five. Yes, it’s best ball, and yes you therefore get four attempts on every shot on every hole, but it still stretches the limits credulity. Then the 48’s started, and the 47’s. I just decided it was ridiculous to pay $150 to $200 to play in a tournament, to suffer such a fraudulent indignity.
I can maybe a 52…but not anything much lower than that.
‘it was ridiculous to pay $150 to $200 to suffer such a fraudulent indignity’
How much would normally be willing to pay for that?
No Kink Shaming, as always.
Laughing… I guess some people do pay for significant abuse.
Well crap…
How hard can hiking the ball be?
Once it is hiked it is the same job as a guard.
I get ‘shotgun’ would be trickier.
The center is the QB of the O-line. He helps with calling out protections, blitzes, and stunt potentials. It’s a lot more than just snapping the ball. A rookie center with a rookie QB is a total disaster as neither one knows what they’re doing. Wentz can obviously help with all this because he’s an experienced QB, but I don’t think he’s the most cerebral guy in the league.
Thanks for proving my point.
‘Once it is hiked it is the same job as a guard’.
We have an experienced QB that should be able to call out protections. After all it is his life that is on the line, he should be motivated to get it right.
Hunting season in ND is right around the corner though. He might be looking for a nice ankle injury so he can get to that duck blind for rehab.
He shoots anything that moves. …Ducks geese, coyotes, Deer, elk, wouldn’t be surprised if he has bagged a ND mountain lion.
You use the word “should” a lot…
I have been studying journalism in my spare time.
‘Should’ is right up there with ‘Could’, ‘Might,’ ”Possible’, and ‘May’ when writing headlines that you can call ‘Ally-Ally-Oxen-Free’ after the fact once they don’t pan out.
Laughing… nice SoCal.
9 guys didn’t participate in practice today.
‘Deep Fake’
Dims
*or is that ‘Cheap Fake’?*
I have trouble keeping up with the Woke/Libs talking points.
So more and more, the days of politicians saying things that are ridiculous in the extreme, and the public buying it, are coming to an end. Everything is recorded, documented, and cataloged on the internet now. Simple searches can turn up these kinds of things and the more the lying, deceitful, hate mongering liberals push hypocritical and false narratives, the deeper the hole they dig for themselves. People have the truth at their fingertips.
The problem is 70% of the population will just believe that the Dems don’t want to give tax payer funded healthcare to illegals because that is what they are saying today. People are too lazy to do the smallest amount of work and they will simply believe what they are told by the main stream media.
“the truth at their fingertips”? I wouldn’t believe over half the shit on the internet. To many keyboard cowboys out there.
Actual public records and other authoritative data sources are available online now, that people can independently access. I’m not talking about keyboard cowboys. I’m talking hard data.
It’s a total lie by both sides. You can always tell when politicians are lying about health care budgeting, it is when they open their mouths.
They all know that if you present to an ER that accepts federal funding you must take care of the patient. All paid for with tax dollars. So 12-15 million illegals get government sanctioned health care at the ER paid for by you.
Doctors should just stop treating illegals. They’re not people anyway.
That made me chuckle.
Yeah my Mom was in a car accident coming to visit us in SoCal.
Ambulance took her to the ER and we joined her as quickly as we could.
She sat there for about 5-6 hours once she was triaged. Lots of illegals and tweakers looking for a fix.
We learned to go to a better hospital 40 miles away when we needed an ER like when The Teacher had Sepsis.
No… that’s not exactly true MT. You see, the Republicans in the BBB removed $200B in health care subsidies for illegal aliens.
On page 57 of the Democrat’s bill – they insist we restore that $200B in health care subsidies for illegal aliens.
It’s NOT a both sides thing.
I’ve seen the reporting on this page 57 thing but have yet to be able to lay my own mark 1 eyeballs on the provision. Some sources suggest this may be misinformation. Unless I can see it myself I just shrug.
I do know the big expense is the ACA expansion, that allows anyone up to 400% of the poverty line to buy insurance for $5/month. Joe Q Taxpayer and national debt pay for that…and the Republicans are trying to claw it back.
Here is from Speaker Mike Johnson’s website:
Here’s a link to the actual “dirty” CR:
https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/fy26_democratic_continuing_resolution_text.pdf
It says Subtitle B of the BBB is completely repealed. I haven’t looked up the actual text of that yet.
Well, Subtitle B of the BBB applies to a lot. I don’t think I can even post the whole thing here. It definitely addresses medicaid to illegals, “reducing state Medicaid costs”, has sections to “ensure deceased individuals do not remain enrolled” in Medicaid, allows for temporary Medicaid payment increases under exceptional circumstances, it provides $50 billion to rural healthcare facilities, and ends unemployment payments to jobless millionaires.

Thanks Bow… my head hurts now… laughing. Great work though.
You should try reading it in the shitty font that I found it in….yuck.
I actually don’t mind reading this sort of stuff. Kind of used to it.
I am thankful for it. I like when real, hard data is available to resolve some level of a difference of opinion.
So the Browns are first in the league in overall defense. That is the total yards allowed per game. They are 24th in the league though in points allowed at 25.5. Something is a little off here. Must be giving the opponents a lot of short fields or something.
Anyway, We need to move the ball and score on them. I think we can do that, IF the O-line can hold its own against Myles Garrett and crew. Wentz is gonna get hit and sacked a lot again this week. He’s gonna have to hang tough and not turn the ball over.
Maybe bad ‘special teams’ giving up long returns???
Maybe.
If Kelly is forced to retire due to concussions, does his cap hit stay as is, or will the entire cap hit of his contract apply to this year?
I think it depends on what they agree to on the contract.
Any cash paid counts.
It’s a matter of how that is structured.
My guess is that everything gets rolled into the year of retirement though.
Trying to rememberize what happened with Tua a couple years ago when he suffered another concussion, and there was talk of his retirement. I think it went like this:
If he’s medically cleared to return to football, but opts to retire, he foregoes the remaining guaranteed money.
If he’s medically forced into retirement, he has a right to collect the remaining guaranteed money.
It can’t apply to next year because we have too much $$ allocated already.
It would be un-logical to add it so therefore it will not happen.
That is my reality.
Based on Spotrac, if he retires at the end of the year or the Vikings cut him, they will take on a little over $3 million in dead cap hit.
Hmmm…
How many turnovers are we going to have due to QB center exchanges if Jurgens doesn’t play?
I am going with 2…
Put the long snapper in, and play from the gun the whole game.
Logical.
Thank goodness I’m not an NFL owner. I’d be asking, “and we flew McCarthy over and put him in a hotel suite for two weeks for what reason”?
Experience
Ok, how confident are we that we’ll beat the Browns on Sunday with their rookie QB under center?
As always ‘Hope for the best but expect the worst’.
Not confident at all
Could be 0 – 0 in the 4th quarter until someone makes a mistake and the lucky team kicks a 60-yarder for the 3-0 win.
Our kicker has proven that he can make a 60 yard FG.
Has their kicker proven that??
Just got back from the Airport. The Teacher got a free trip weeklong trip to Hawaii from her Daughter. She will be joining her, her husband and their 4 year old. She is mostly going to be a babysitter/grandma while they explore the island. They said that they have a bunch of Air Miles that they had to use up by the end of the year so all of their flights were basically free.
So I have a week to myself with a list of chores and errands to keep me busy. It will be a change of pace if nothing else.
Party at Socal’s!!!
Not much of a party, no alcohol.
well i don’t drink, neither does Brad or Vikingphillip so….GOOD TIMES STILL
I thought SoCal was hosting, not Fred Smoot.
The Teacher was adamant ‘No Hookers’!!
“Escorts”?
Not even willing amateurs.
Doesn’t sound like she said “no cocaine”
As long I can guarantee that there is no Fentanyl in it.
AKA ‘No’.
Drive fast and take chances. Could be a good time.
Dealt with Fentanyl in prison.
More likely to be a ‘short time’.
THAT JUST MEANS MORE FOR THE REST OF US!!!
Every beer you drink is a beer a kid can’t drink. Do your part to keep kids from drinking.
My relatives in North Dakota used the argument that ‘if you let underaged kids drink at home growing up then they will be better able to handle drinking when they grow up and can drink legally’.
So let kids practice getting drunk as minors so that they will be subject matter experts when they get older???
How very…..North Dakotan
So…no, you are not correctly stating the “Let Kids drink at home argument”
You let your kid (17 or 18) have an occasional drink or 2 at home with you (their parent) so they have some experience with alcohol and understand it can be enjoyed without getting drunk.
It worked extremely well for my son who is now finishing his 4th year at college with straight A’s and no alcohol issues.
It is a good approach.
That is the political correct version, not what really happens.
My In-Laws in ND would tell stories about how drunk they would get as teens.
My FIL was a Dr/Coroner in Grafton, when his kids were High School there was a fatal accident of teens from their HS. He came home, woke his kids up, put them in the car, drove them to the hospital, and made them look at their classmates bodies. That is what taught them not to drink to excess.
I loved/admired that guy!
That’s brutal, but a great lesson.
Old school, country Dr (GP) from Canada. Served in Europe in WWII.
Samsies, LOL!
Good timing.
A week of walking around the house naked, and drinking beer for breakfast…
It is getting too cold for ‘naked’.
And I don’t drink beer.
Other than that you are spot on.
Laughing… that’s why I love Florida… I can walk around naked almost year round… I don’t drink beer either BTW. I hardly drink at all. Sometimes I have a glass of wine or a mixed drink when we go out to dinner, but that’s about it.
‘I can walk around naked almost year round’
TMI, that is a ‘visual that I do not need’.
No Kink Shaming though.
Maybe Brandel can become our Center moving forward. He seems to be good at every position he has played, and it may be his only chance to break the starting line up.
I have a feeling Ryan Kelly will not play football anymore, but I could be wrong.
Have you noticed, that since the Colts got rid of Fries and Kelly, their O-Line has been much improved…
Not like Fries and Kelly played for the Colts last year.
