Happy Tuesday, everyone, and welcome to Skoloholics, your home for Minnesota Vikings Discussion! Every day you can join us for the latest Minnesota Vikings news, lots of Minnesota Vikings talk, also NFL news and updates, and most anything else you may have on your mind. At Skoloholics, the real action is in the comments, so if you haven’t checked out the comments section yet, sign up and join the conversation.
There isn’t much new to talk about today. Fans are eagerly anticipating Kirk Cousins’ return to Minnesota. Kirk spent six seasons here, was a solid teammate and player during his time here, so I hope he gets a good reception for his return to U.S. Bank. That being said, I hope we beat the Falcons like a bunch of red-headed mules. Or beat them like rented step-children, whichever is easier. SKOL!!!!!!!!
Vikings News
From CBS Sports, Randy Moss announced that he’s battling a health issue, and urges men to ‘get your checkups’. That sucks, man. I hope he beats whatever it is he’s battling.
In case you missed it, Justin Jefferson eclipsed 1,000 yards for the season on Sunday, the fifth straight time he’s done so, from Vikings.com.
NFL News
The 49ers are placing Christian McCaffrey on IR, the RB will be out at least six weeks, according to NFL.com.
Bears President, Kevin Warren, announced that Ryan Poles will remain the GM and will be the point man in choosing a new head coach, per CBS Sports. Uhhhhhh, Poles was the point man in choosing Eberflus.
Kevin Warren also said that the Bears HC job will be the most coveted job in the NFL this year, according to CBS Sports. Dah, okay. I beg to differ. Has Mr. Warren looked at the Bears team? They’re 4-8, their record from 2021-2023 was 16-35, they may have just chosen another bust at QB, and they have a lack of young talent. What exactly is appealing about the Bears HC job?
Media Selection
We haven’t played this one in a while, this is Jerry Burns giving the best press conference in history. This is after a WIN. Also, it’s Jerry Burns so LOTS OF NSFW LANGUAGE!!!!! Enjoy!

This makes me sick
sick to my stomach….
but
I’ll be rooting for FTP on Thursday.
We NEED the Lions to lose.
I want the whole enchilada. And I think it’s attainable.
Of course, we MUST do our part and win out – but I think that’s doable. 3 of the next 4 at home. Lions beat up. Still think Love’s tendency to play Hero Ball works in our favor to get the sweep.
We need Philly to lose too. Their remaining schedule is soft – but two games stick out that could/should be tough for them: Pittsburgh/Washington. I think they lose at least 1 more game. I remember last year’s collapse and could see that happening again.
Best case scenario:
FTP beats Detroit.
Philly loses once.
Vikes win out.
I think this is a realistic scenario.
But it all starts with rooting for the team I’ve despised my whole life….
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
I will root for team meteor.
Then look at the positive for whichever side wins/loses.
Go Lions!
Hey, they could always tie and have almost the same benefit.
100th post.
Only 1/3 of what we had yesterday.
I am sure there is a logical reason somewhere.
The folks who usually bring up daily politics were not posting today.
I’ll try to do better tomorrow. I was busy today.
Me too.
We went out to run some errands today.
Accomplish a few things so it is all good.
When you’re 9-2 not much to complain about. Now, there’s some big games coming up down the road will get a lot of attention. Guess both the Packers and Lions will be big.
10-2 even
Remove Sam Darnold’s best two games (based on yards) and his stats are 2,332 passing yards 18 TDs and 8 picks. And Keep in mind Kwerks best passing games were against the Bucs worst pass defense in the league. Toss in Darnolds ability to scramble and rushing yards. Its just, there no argument against it that makes sense at this point.
Damn ruined my Thanksgiving wish. I was hoping our defense could match the shit Bucs defense and hold the Lions and Eagles to 16 points each when we play them like they did.
Again playing devils advocate with irrelevant info and missing the point. I point out the Buccs because 1.) They are awful (30th) and 2.) Darnolds best passing games (by yards) were against the Bears (10th) and Colts (29th), yeah the Colts suck too but, this is the context that is needed behind the raw numbers. Buccs played Detroit before they got their shit together all the way back in week 2 same with Philly two weeks later. Come on Jrob, just roll with me here. Its easier.
I got your point – you missed mine. Sometimes there are bigger issues than trashing our ‘former’ QB. Like, we are going to be playing a big time game against the Lions down the road and I hope our defense can play better than the last time.
And context is relevant. Suppose you took the two Atlanta games out of the Bucs defense stats.I’d guess they would look a lot better.
And you might think ahead. Bucs will probably win that division and if we are a WC team, we could travel there and play against that crap defense (like the Eagles did last year).
you speak with wisdom!
As most of you know, I was a Kirk fan. But I was hoping for a team friendly 25-30 million contract. But when I see the advantage of saving 30 million on the QB, our team is much more fun to watch.
Group therapy was also helpful
Welcome to the good side brother! Therapy is healthy and your fellow 2024 Skoldiers welcome you with open arms.
watching football games with kids can be really funny, especially when they are learning the game and don’t know alot about it.
my daughter has asked me the last 3 or 4 weeks in a row if i think that kirk cousins is sad that he’s not on the vikings anymore, which i think it’s a cute question for a kid to ask…but i always tell her no, he got paid ALOT of money by the team he’s with now, so i think he’s happy..
but my kids were VERY excited when i told them we play Kirk cousins this week. My son was like “I HOPE WE CRUSH THEM” i knew alot of you would love that
I’m not on any social media, was just now wondering, is ghetto kirk still out there?
Quality parenting, and your son is very smart.
Smart kids right there! Son has a bright future.
Good Parenting on display there.
“The Falcons have a Quarterback Problem”
https://www.thefalcoholic.com/2024/12/3/24311536/the-falcons-have-a-quarterback-problem-nfl-week-14-2024-kirk-cousins-kyle-pitts-tuesday-takes
Kirk will have a “bounce back” game this week because the Vikes pass defense gives up good games to QBs. It’ll happen.
But hopefully they keep them out of the end zone and the offense moves the ball well (and doesn’t turn it over).
I’m hoping for multiple pick 6’s……
They give up yards, they dont give up scoring. So Kirk will have yards, but will also have fumbles and picks. Thats not the standard for a good game. See my post yesterday from Falcoholics. Vikings D is going to feast.
I think it is very amusing that Kirko has gotten a coach/GM fired in Washington, Minnesota, and soon, Atlanta.
His agent is still Hall of Fame caliber.
But still #nothisfault or #team/coachlethimdown
Vikes fans attending the game Sunday should start a “Thank you Arthur!” Chant. To thank the Falcons.
Any news on Reichard coming back from IR?
Think we can get a draft pick from a needy team for Romo?
His practice window was opened yesterday and no on Romo. The trade deadline has passed.
Along with the long snapper aka whatshisname.
Yup, I’m sure there are a couple of kicker needy teams that are keeping an eye on this kid.
Dang. So we have to just waive him, eh?
Or waste a roster spot for the remainder of the year.
I don’t think Caleb is going to bust. I’ve seen enough of him to say he’ll be a tough out with the right (offensive minded) coach. The bears job probably is the most appealing right now because of jets and saints, but there will be more job openings at the end of season.
They Bares have named the Interim Head Coach.
It is the same guy they named to replace the OC a few weeks ago.
At least they didn’t bring in anyone involved in that historic screw up last week.
Oh wait………
https://sports.yahoo.com/new-bears-coach-thomas-brown-preached-accountability-for-a-team-that-needed-it–then-he-went-a-step-further-222719357.html
Bears will screw it up, they always do.
But ‘Consistency’ is important I hear.
Constantly screwing up is still consistency.
Lets hope so!
Bears are a strange organization. They have never had a 4000 yard QB in their history. Yet, they had 4 Hall of Fame middle LB’s almost back to back to back. Who has four HOF MLB’s?
Yeah, the offense has looked better under Thomas Brown. It’ll be interesting if he will be considered for HC if he goes undefeated or only 1 more loss to end the season.
I would guess Lions OC Ben Johnson is headed to Chicago with a young QB.
That would make too much sense for the Bears. They’ll hire a college coach or maybe bring Kinsbury from Washington.
Managed to secure 2nd seed and a bye week in 2 of my 4 Fantasy leagues and I am fighting for 2nd in a third league this week. Lookin pretty good. Ironically will be taking last in the fourth league, 12 team leagues are hard. Might be getting a nice end of year fantasy check in 4 weeks.
I am firmly entrenched in last place.
Thankfully it was free this season.
I am terrible at FF and betting on football.
It takes a different mind set for sure then pick ems or over unders. Im not in the Sleeper league this year, whose winning in that?
DerbySkol is in first, with Brad one game behind.
I have 2 wins.
Brutalllll.
This is my ESPN league I sealed up 2nd seed in. These are my starters, when healthy, I have a great team.
I have M Andrews on the bench too and swap him and Ertz based on match ups
Surly has had the worst luck on earth this year.
In the fantasy league, anyway.
I bet on the Patriots to win against the Colts.
NE winning the entire 2nd half, and with 1:50 to play, Indy had the ball on their own 20 yard line, with NE up by 7.
I saw Indy at NE 5 yard line with :10 to play down by 7.
I said to myself, Indy will score AND go for two.
That’s what happened. I lost that bet.
I was really surprised by the turn around in the Tampa Bay/Panthers game, too.
Looked over for the Bucs. Next thing I know it is in OT, and then they win.
Seemed like a couple of games could have easily went either way this week.
The TB/Carolina game was one where nobody wanted to win it.
TB gives up the lead.
Carolina fumbles in OT.
TB kicks the winning field goal.
My last bet on Underdog, I had a parlay that would have paid over $200 on a $10 bet. I only needed 1 more yard rushing or receiving yard from Aaron Jones. Instead, I get nothing. I decided at that moment to unistall the app and never bet on football again.
It has been years since I wagered on football, for that very reason. I did well on two trips to Vegas, but that was 20 years ago.
I reviewed Oddity.
I’ve read good things about this movie, but as I’m not a fan of
Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League Update #13
My performance in pick ’em league continues to look like Sydney Sweeney’s chest — a series of peaks and valleys. One week I’m at the bottom. The next I’m toward the top. This week I went straight to the top. I only missed the Cincy game, and I only lost one measly confidence point. I was literally one point away from perfect.
Could I have this moment of glory? No. Of course not. Because NoDak is right there on my coattails, having only missed one game, as well, and only lost two points. How am I supposed to brag about being the best when another guy basically did the same thing. I was 99.3 percent perfect. NoDak was 98.5 percent perfect.
You guys just couldn’t give me my one moment in the sun, could you? At least it gives me a chance to use one of my favorite GIFs.
Overall, here is where we sit…
JacksonVike, Little Fishin’ and Bowbunch are in the 9-10 spots. Despite being at the bottom, I can’t help by admire Bowbunch. That man is living life to the fullest as he works the upset lines to mount a glorious comeback. Meanwhile, the rest of us make safe choices, living our picking lives like accountant dads in the suburbs who eat grapefruits for breakfast and have chaste love time with our wives from 9 to 9:15 p.m. once a week on Friday nights. Meanwhile, Bowbunch is out there like a wild and crazy twenty-something. He probably even has a beer at lunch and doesn’t care about cholesterol. As for Little Fishin and JacksonVike, JacksonVike better get a move on. Little Fishin’ smells blood, with passing potential developing.
Freezy is all alone in the 8 spot. He’s been consistently improving his situation ever so slightly. Dude is even doing morning workouts at the gym. Don’t sleep on that kind of guy.
I am still all alone in 7, but due to my near-perfect performance, I closed the gap on the group ahead of my by a small degree. I just need to keep it up. Be the tortoise to the hares above me. Then when they least expect it, I will strike, like tortoises do. Did you know that tortoises are among the most deadly creatures in nature? Even if it isn’t true, it should be. They are basically tanks on feet.
Man, look at the cluster in 3-6. Kirk is still good (is he really?) has fallen out of the podium positions and joined the jostling and shoving. He has only the smallest lead on Surly and DE while I’d rather be fishing has jumped on his shoulders into the number three spot. This is the most exciting part of the bracket. I thought I was excited because I mentioned Sydney Sweeney earlier, but no. I am excited about this race among competitors. If I had a chance to go to a movie with Sydney Sweeney or write a pick ’em update on positions 3-6, I would take the pick ’em league update everyday of the week (except from 9 to 9:15 p.m. on Friday night).
NoDakRube has solidified himself in the number two spot. You got to hand it to him. He’s been pretty savvy of late. Either he is clairvoyant or he has a line into Vegas. If it is the latter, I want to be sure to be extra nice to him, lest a couple of goons with baseball bats visit by abode.
Bleeding Purple N’ Gold remains in the top spot. But are cracks beginning to show? He came in sixth place this week, despite only missing two games. I like to think cracks are beginning to show. It gives me hope.
Iconoclast Picks of the Week go to Surly for being the only guy to pick Bears over Lions and Bowbunch for being the only guy to pick the Giants over Dallas.
There weren’t really any Genius Picks of the Week. The closest we can get is NoDak, Surly, DE and myself picked Eagles over Ravens.
Everyone got KC, Washington, Houston, TB, Buffalo and Denver right. There wasn’t a game everyone got wrong. It almost makes it seem like the picks were fairly easy this week. Everyone did pretty well. Again, I just can’t have my moment.
At least Kirk didn’t screw me over this week. I picked against him. Picking against him again this week, too. He better do his part or…
More like 15 seconds vs 15 minutes for me. Just being honest.
She appears to have two assets that make her popular.
Nothing else about her seems exceptional although she seems to have a sense of humor (always a plus).
Of course I don’t know the lady.
I have only seen her romcom movie on netflix. I was entertained.
She was funny in that. Never watched the HBO show.
Attractive and willing to be nekkid can sometimes work out for actors.
Saw her clip of her Saturday Night Live bit, otherwise have only seen GIFs and pictures.
I am including all of these activities in the 15 minutes, though:
Begging
Cajoling
Begrudging agreement
Stalling
Clumsy floundering
Awkward shame
Shower crying
Pajama donning
You write good…I love this line
I noticed Bowbunch’s swing for the fences approach as well. That’s the kind of dude you don’t want to get into an altercation with – he would never stop – just keep punching and punching and punching until he is dead or wins the fight.
You know it. I will not go quietly into that dark night.
Take a flashlight at least.
i’m right behind you, wren…
and i’m not minding the view
Always a good read, and no Iconoclast picks for JacksonVike this week.
Who is Sydney Sweeney?
Picture and Video posted above.
Back when I grew up, this type of hit happened multiple times per game.
The Wussification of the NFL.
Of course when you (or I) were growing up they also didn’t have a rule that a QB could slide and basically give themselves up.
Before the rule he would have protected himself better and that shot to the head could still have been flagged for ‘unnecessary roughness’.
I agree that the NFL has gotten softer, but this was still a dirty and illegal hit. Trevor slid and gave his body up. The 3 game suspension is definitely warranted, and I’m expecting a big fine also.
Especially since it’s not even close to the first time he’s thrown a cheap shot.
Same thing that asshole from the Rams did to Teddy that year.
I really think the QB slide “late hit” rule needs to be reworked. Think about it – every other player the LB, DE or safety encounters in the back field is live and cannot give themselves up. If you break from covering a receiver to picking up a runner you are used to them juking, spinning, diving, leaping to get by you. In the case of a QB you have to identify it is the QB, and then if they start to slide resist the instinct to squat down to their level (closing at close to 40 mph) to stop them and protect your own abdomen and groin from what was until half a second ago going to be a violent collision with a player lowering their body. I think they either need to say the QB must initiate a slide when there is no player within subjectively 2 yards or so, or dress them in neon yellow.
I agree that they ask a lot from the defender in those situations.
Not as much as they ask Peace Officers in ‘split second decision’ situations. And the Officers make a lot less and are subject to more when they get it wrong.
*just for perspective*
Yeah and QBs fake slide to get the defender to stop and then they keep running. More QBs (Mahomes) nee to get lit up a few times or no more slides.
Exactly. I’ve seen Mahomes pull the old putting arms up, slowing down, leaning back, only to pop into a running stance and take off laterally.
I would love to see a linebacker absolutely light him up and leave him a quivering pile of mess on the field. It would be worth a flag.
Why would you want that to happen to Mahomes?
Let me put it this way. By some miracle Vikings win the NFCCG in January. Playing the Chiefs for the drama of our franchise’ first SB and Chiefs third in a row. We are up six points inside two minutes left in game Chiefs have no timeouts. 4th and 7 at the 50 Mahomes does a fake slide jukes Gilmore gets the first down. 25 seconds left on the clock 2nd and 9 Mahomes initiates a slide at the 23 yard line Gilmore hits his chin strap with his forearm, penalty 15 yards clocks stops automatic first down. Next play a draw play stopped, Chiefs spike the ball with 12 seconds on clock. Mahomes is juking around backfield does a pump fake takes off running he starts leaning back at the 4 yard line. Do you want Harrison Smith to:
1) Do whatever it takes to stop him before the goal line.
2) Hold up; Mahomes is giving himself up for a slide and the clock will run out.
3) Hold steady at the goal line to prevent the running TD and let him scramble some more.
????
That’s quite a hypothetical. How about Mahomes cussed out Mother Teresa when he was running too, And maybe kicked a dog on he way to the stadium.
Suppose we just have Smith tackle him at the four. Nothing wrong with a clean hard tackle.
Nah, let’s give the NFL what it wants, a highlight play of him juking around Smith to win the game for KC.
‘I’ve seen Mahomes pull the old putting arms up, slowing down, leaning back, only to pop into a running stance and take off laterally.’
I think that falls under ‘play stupid games, win stupid prizes’.
This is hard – do you want to protect the QB’s or not?
Now, there’s another little thing that’s not mentioned. As a defender, you are used to taking on backs and ends with the ball and the hits go both ways. But, every defender that has played, starting at Pop Warner, relishes the idea to take a shot at a QB in the open field. Not like taking on Derrick Henry. So the basic slide to protect the QB, really goes against the defenders DNA.
Seems some defenders control their instincts better than others.
The Hitman has discussed having to ‘relearn how to replay the position’ due to the new rules.
I think Rex Ryan had an interesting take on this. He said if QBs want to give themselves up, they should be coached to dive at the ankles of the player coming at them, not go into a slide.
And get kicked in the head?
Agreed.
I also believe there should be a change to the defenseless receiver rule. For instance, when a defender goes waist high to make a tackle, and the receiver crouches to absorb the hit, and they end up hitting helmet to helmet, it should either not be a penalty on the defense, or it should be a penalty on the receiver for putting the defender at risk.
Logic for the win!
Hi Kirk !!
South Korea just declared marshall law for some reason.
That would never happen here.
The ‘opposition parties have taken the parliamentary process hostage’ per the president.
So he declared martial law to protect “the freedom and happiness of our people, and to protect the free constitutional order”.
@Sounds Logical@
https://www.foxnews.com/world/south-korean-president-declares-martial-law-move-against-opposition-party
If firefighters fight fire, and crime fighters fight crime, what do freedom fighters fight?
We were close to that during Covid. People on the coasts, especially.
Why do you think Biden is trying to start WWIII? Get us involved, declare marshal law, step aside for Kamala who can’t step down during an active war.

Wow, look at all you sleepy heads.
Headed to the gym.
19-2-1 in Muay Thai and MMA then an actress.
A fine looking and accomplished Lady.
Really sad that the DEI types at Disney cancelled her.
Her spin off series would have been fun.
Imagine a guy’s surprise getting her in bed the first time, not knowing about her fighting background………
Better than any ride at Disneyland!!
Better ride than doing the ‘beast with two backs’ with one girl and telling her in the middle of it that her sister was better?
Asking for a friend.

youyour friend lived through it?I can neither confirm nor deny the death of any individual that may or may not have participated in such a thing as that.
