I’m guessing a lot of folks are off today, but I’m guessing there are also a lot of folks working today (poor son of a guns). I’m in the former category, as I took a vacation day. We’re out camping by the Missouri until the 4th. Kiddo and I are running a 5k in Mandan that morning, then we’ll stick around for the parade (that’s kiddo’s deal, not mine) afterwards. This will be the fifth 5k that we’ve run together, it’ll be a blast.
It’s been a nice weekend, a hot day yesterday well into the 90s, but cooling today. We’re going to take the kayaks out this morning & do some fishing while we travel down the river a few miles to where some friends are camping. Tomorrow night, we’re taking our fireworks out to my brother’s place so we can go bonkers. We spend more every year. Oh well, I spent a lot more on a lot dumber things when I was younger. Explosives are good family fun, in my opinion.

Minnesota Vikings News:
From SI.com, Pat McAfee tried to clear the air with SOME Vikings fans. Sheesh, a bit hypersensitive to be bothered by an innocent statement.
Training camp report dates for veterans and rookies were announced, from Vikings.com. We’re really reaching for things to report, aren’t we? I wonder if they’ll announce potty break times for each of the position groups.
Here’s a head coach ranking for all 32 NFL teams from CBS Sports. There’s a lot to argue about in this one.
I think we have a meterologist or something like it in the audience. Maybe you can weigh in on whether this is correct. The Chargers’ Kellen Moore, when talking about their tall wide recievers, says they’ll be throwing in a different jet stream, according to NFL.com. I’m no Art major, but I’m pretty sure there’s only one jet stream.
From Sky.com, a mayor in Mexico has married an allligator-like reptile who he calls ‘princess girl’. Wow.
Victor Hugo Sosa says during the wedding ceremony: “I accept responsibility because we love each other. That is what is important. You can’t have a marriage without love… I yield to marriage with the princess girl.”
Video of the Day:
These two have some funny moments, this is Theo Von and Joe Rogan. Enjoy!
MT & Brad entered a July 4th race!
I’m at a helluva party….
Happy 4th of July!
He’s certainly honest
Wonder if I’ll make it to 10:00 tonight to watch the local fireworks over the lake? (Of course not I’ll be in bed by 9:30).
3 weeks and 3 days till training camp starts (Saturday 29 July). Hope the time passes quickly. There are currently about 25 free agent RB’s on the market, including Cook. Will he even have a job this year?
If he reduces his Salary Demands to ‘reasonable’.
It will laughable when he returns to the Vikings on a reduced deal. Although they may not want him back. I’m fine if they don’t.
Vikings Rival Positioned to Rekindle Interest in Kirk Cousins, Insider Says
Entering the final year of his contract, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins made his intentions known that he won’t engage in any more contract talks until next March, potentially opening a window to take calls from other teams during the legal tampering period of free agency.
Unless the Vikings make him an offer he can’t refuse until then, Cousins’ phone line will be open to other suitors, sparking the perennial rumor of Cousins joining the San Francisco 49ers.
The Athletic’s 49ers beat reporter Matt Barrows addressed the potential that Cousins could be the 49ers’ plan in 2024.
“Yes, Shanahan loves Cousins. He has championed Cousins, now 34, since he was Washington’s offensive coordinator in 2012, the year Washington chose the quarterback in the fourth round. But he suspects he now has a younger, cheaper and more mobile version of Cousins in [Brock] Purdy, who is 11 years younger,”
And of course KAM won’t get an ounce of compensation and will let a top 10 QB go. fool.
Place is deader than dead. Don’t see fireworks in Minny but i’ll gladly take the rain. Stay safe Skolholes.
Happy 4th everyone.
As it is dead quiet around here so some of us find that we have some ‘extra time’ on our hands. Brett Kollman and BullDog Football did a Breakdown of the Vikings a couple of weeks ago. Its a hour long but a good watch for Viking Fans.
OK, got it to download… Merica! Hell yeah!
Nice ride.
Yeah, just over a year old, and just over 2K miles on it.
So you’re helping Joe Biden save the world by driving less. sell the cows too?
Love the wheels!
FJB… heard something about he was behind a plan to “block out the sun” to reduce climate change… ummm those solar panels need the sun Joe. So do plants and shit.
My wife is a former competitive body builder and so I bought her a muscle car to go with her body. Muscle car for a muscle woman. She grew up a MOPAR fan, so this is like her dream car.
Car is sweet!
Yea let’s block the sun and start the next ice age!
I do have some sweet high end winter weather gear from living in Chicago I’d like to get some more use.
After being outside a little today down in Florida, I’ll take some of that ice age stuff.
Shot a 46/46 for a run of the mill round for Mr Can’t Break 90 Guy. Six fucking birdie putts missed them all. Run of mill other stupid shit and that is my score. Merica.
If you didn’t kill or maim anyone in your group, it was a good day…
Still a shot better than the other day. Progress sometimes just comes slowly. The difference between 89 and 92 is sometimes just one mistake, or just a few puts.
Planned on getting out this weekend finally but broke my finger over the weekend so my golf season is over before it began.
Wow, sorry to hear that. Wait all winter to play then hurt yourself. Man, that totally sucks.
At least it will be healed by archery season and they only splinted it so I should be able to shoot in a week or two.
par-bogey-bogey-bogey-rained out.
all 3 fairways hit with my driver. Things are getting better. Slowly.
Seems if you want to break a drought make a tee time.
Tried to post a picture of my wife’s car at the Yoga studio today with a big American flag on it, but won’t load for some reason. She’s such a Patriot!
Happy fourth!
Enjoy whatever freedom we have left.
You can’t even have free speech anymore.
Wishing y´all a happy 4th!
Ooof. Did they ever.
50 years later, both john Adams and Thomas Jefferson died July 4th, 1826 within hours of each other. Both great founding fathers.
Saw that earlier, makes me ashamed of my generation. Now days folks can’t even be bothered to do independent research, much less being willing to sacrifice anything to save America. Grateful to those many of you who are aware and trying to help.

Happy 4th
Good morning, SKOL!
Happy 4th!
We are hosting a family Independence Day picnic tomorrow. In case I don’t get on at all tomorrow,
Forgive student debt sniffer, by the way, can you forgive my taxes? You senile POS.
It’s easy actually, many dems do this. Donate to DNC, BLM and the Clinton Foundation. Then don’t even file your taxes – no problem.
Trump approved the PPP loan forgiveness plans that were fraught with fraud you mad at him too or does he again get a pass?

Breaking political news AOC suggests impeaching SCOTUS members forrulings not to her liking. Saw cackles compared to the Bud Light of VP’s. LMAO, This shit is getting fun.
AOC does seem quite flexible in her positions. She’s now concerned about an authoritarian government with to much central power. Yet, not to far back, she thought same government should take over elections and voting from the states. And even on student loans, the court said our supreme leader didn’t have the legal power to forgive. Congress had the power to write the law to do this, but she doesn’t seem to want any part of it.
Maybe she is just young and still trying to figure things out.
Country can’t afford Rep whose young and stupid. This country is in dire straits now. Place is deader than a Doornail. Guess family functions.
Going by bills and co sponsorship, she is the most ineffective member of congress – yet people listen to her.
Unfortunately, we don’t just have “young and stupid”, we have just as many “old and stupid.”
LOL. Salient point, “old and stupid”. God help us.
It is just flawed logic.
You look at the result you want, build some arguments to support it, and then call it Logic.
No other arguments, past/present/future effect the current one. Although if you can find an old one that can be twisted out of context to support the current one all the better.
Most if not all politicians do this.
Unfortunately you’re right – most all the politicians do this. I guess that’s what we want, we keep voting them in.
Politicians sell us a ‘Bill Of Goods’ to get elected.
Like any good sales person they make it sound convincing.
Conservative or Liberal we want what they are selling so it is easy to get people to ‘buy in’.
They make a few efforts to fulfill their ‘Promises’ but mostly they are working for themselves, on the publics dime of course.
They are eligible for a pension and health care after a 2 yr stint in congress. I don’t think politicians care much for the blue collar grunt who made this country what it once was.
Well then maybe it’s time for term limits.
Since the early 1990s, the long-running demand to impose term limits on the Senators and Representatives elected to the U.S. Congress has intensified. Considering that since 1951 the President of the United States has been limited to two terms, term limits for members of Congress seem reasonable. There’s just one thing in the way: the U.S. Constitution.
There is an organized movement for term limits though. Established in the early 1990s, the Washington, D.C. based U.S. Term Limits (USTL) organization has advocated for term limits at all levels of government. In 2016, USTL launched its Term Limits Convention, a project to amend the Constitution to require congressional term limits. Under the Term Limits Convention program, the state legislatures are encouraged to enact term limits for the members of Congress elected to represent their states.
The goal of the USTL is to get the 34 states required by Article V of the Constitution to demand a convention to consider amending the Constitution to require term limits for Congress. Recently, USTL reported that 17 of the needed 34 states had passed resolutions calling for an Article V constitutional convention. If adopted by a constitutional convention, the term limits amendment would have to be ratified by 38 states.
You can read all about the movement here: https://www.termlimits.com/
Thanks – insightful.
Ran into my most notable neighbor this weekend. Chatted for a while. He seems really excited for fall to come.
Great guy.
Cool, I can imagine how the fall gets players blood going. I played football starting in September in High School and College, and even at 70 years old when the fall rolls around my football “stirrings” rise up.
I hope the Vikings are competitive this year and there’s no Sophomore slump for KOC. The team was not statistically better on either side of the ball under him in his first year, yet they won 13 games and clinched the NFC North. One hopes the team would be better this year as the HC gets his feet under him, and his scheme matures with the players. Will they explode on offense (finally) or will the prevent offense still reign to protect the defense?
Yea, he seemed really enthusiastic about getting going. Was in terrific shape too.
I loved fall too. By mid August baseball was getting old and ready to move on to football. Nothing like football in the fall.
This team may not win as many games next season, but could be a much improved team overall. I’m not for Zim ball, but would like to see us run the ball more consistently. Just about anything should produce a better defense.
He is still overrated. Until the team around him gets much better.
Seems like a really decent guy though, and that counts for more.
Well honestly, there is no such thing as a QB in the NFL that doesn’t need a good team around him to win. The fact that the Vikings won 13 games last year with the 28th ranked defense in points allowed is pretty incredible. Especially when you add in a terrible interior line. So it’s not that Cousins needs a great team around him. Decent would be a massive improvement.
CBS getting hammered over Rocket coverage. Hope they don’t have the Open.
What’s that? They cover a rocket launch?
Any new pics of crib? Get that drone up. More coverage than CBS.
Not much new to see…waiting for the walls to go up and some more concrete poured, I’ll film after that.
That 18 hp Briggs & Stratton on the trail mower is loud AF. I was wearing muffs but my Apple Watch kept notifying me that the 125 dB noise was deafening. You won’t sneak up on any snakes hiding in the ditches pulling that thing.
Quite the opposite. Snakes know you’re coming and you can’t hear. I’d be wary of an ambush….
Walking the dogs a western ribbon snake flew across our path yesterday. Damn things always startle me.
Flying snakes?
Thought that those were an Aztec Thing.
Believe NBC has Open coverage.
Not sure what happened yesterday. I missed it. Even my computer showed Rickie finished a stroke off!
Read about it yesterday, and then watched today.
Whaddya guys think of the Luke Combs remake of the Tracey Chapman classic, “Fast Car”?
doesn’t work for me…
Yeah I think the version Tracey did is damn near perfect. I do like Luke Combs, though.
Me too..but some things are better left alone.
Since the original came out in the spring of ’88 half the commenters on here weren’t even born so maybe had never heard of that song.
Like so many songs from our youth, I can remember with crystal clarity when I first heard that song…was driving a flatbed pickup from little ol’ Wainwright to Vancouver (actually Chilliwack) to load up some specialized pipe fittings for the natural gas company I was working for…had just found out that I had been admitted to the medical laboratory science program at the U of A, lateral from the dead end premed…felt like the world was my oyster…stopped in Vernon on a whim to look up my fourth grade teacher…sat out on his deck and lounged in his pool sipping on a beer or two and reminiscing…his three daughters come home from some folksy event and spent a delightful rest of the afternoon and supper with them, after supper his oldest (about a year and a half younger than I) asked if I wanted to go for a drive in their little convertible and see the sights around the Okanagan valley. I had recently broken up with my GF and thought the fates were nudging us together, we were holding hands and laughing about some shit looking out over the city when this song came on.
She had just got back from a year as an exchange student in Brazil (did you know they speak Portuguese?) and was going to work the summer in Banff. I detoured on the way back to see her, brought her flowers but the spark just never ignited, too many miles between us.
Songs and smells, they are hardwired into the amygdala.
Cool story. Yes songs especially take me back.
I still can’t hear Unchained Melody without my eyes welling up – played at my Mother’s memorial service.
“I’m just not a huge fan of covers.”
I guess Unchained Melody is an exception as it was a Cover by the Righteous Brothers (Bobby Hatfield).
You guessed correctly.
‘Even a Broken Clock is right 2x a day.’
So I guess/hope I have one more coming today.
Trash. Absolute trash. As are most covers.
I like to think of what that moment must have been like for her, Nelson Mandela concert and Stevie Wonder runs off the stage, organizers tell her to get out there and fill in the set with something, just starts strumming on her guitar and busts out this song.
It’s an amazing song. And I’m just not a huge fan of covers. Metallica’s cover of Stone Cold Crazy’ is a good. So is their version of Whiskey In The Jar. Shinedown does an acoustic cover of Simple Man that is done really well. I despise what the Dixie Chicks did to Fleetwood Mac and how Uncle Kracker bastardized Dobie Gray.
2 seasons in Minny. Cold and hot.
Tsk tsk tsk…looks like someone didn’t pay their protection money.
Explosions rock DC businesses as suspects remain on the loose: police | Fox Business
the explosions heard were actually people’s heads exploding as Biden was actually able to formulate a coherent sentence…..
That is pure science fiction freezey….Biden hasn’t formulated a coherent sentence in quite some time.
Not always remember, but today is one of the bloodiest and most defining days in American History – Pickett’s Charge.
Meade >>>Lee
All war sucks…but can you imagine being one of those soldiers told to advance nearly a mile across an open field exposed to artillery and rifle fire? That would suck.
Actually did that walk during last trip to Gettysburg. It is amazing – some truly courageous people.
Wild wedding story up top…but don’t judge…Love is Love.
That’s a strange one. I wonder if he’ll win reelection

That makes a lot more sense. Context is very important.
Yes, very important…strange custom.

Lifer shoot under 90
Lifer is my bro in the “Can’t break 90 support group”….
I shot another stupid 90 yesterday…came into 17 just needed a pair of bogeys for an 89. Shanked one into the pond took a double and ended with a 90. GOD DAMN IT!
Same as what happened to me Sat…going in to 17 & 18 at 89…shoot 4 over.
Maybe better to think get two pars rather than two bogeys.
It’s better not to think at all. Just be relaxed, swing in rhythm, and hit the ball to a target.
Yes, I sometimes believe that space between my ears is my biggest problem on the golf course….
Guessing between your ball and cup.
Agree, but if you’re going to think of anything, wouldn’t goal with the least amount of space.
Once I set up behind the ball, the only thing I’m focused on is swinging the club from the inside and bottoming the club out in front of the ball. Before I set up, I’m swinging the club loosely to get myself relaxed, and visualizing hitting the ball to a specific target. I say “Alabama” during my swing to keep myself in rhythm. I do this on every shot, including chips. pitches, and putts. You’ll be amazed how well you putt if you say Alabama to yourself when doing it.
I’m a simple man… keep it simple, and don’t overthink anything.
That looks very good and especially so for tempo.
Actually I try to stay in the present and only think about the shot. These guys mentioned starting on 17 and just needing two bogeys. All I’d be thinking of was the drive on 17
And perhaps strangely, my only swing thought once addressing the ball is be aggressive thru the hitting area.
yes, it’s focus on the next shot, stay in your routine, pick your target line, address the ball, one last look at your target, swing.
From doing that my shot quality was excellent. When your putting sucks its hard to make par.
Sticking to your routine is great, But an add, if you were timed in your routine, it should take the same mnount of time every time. From pulling the club, to shot leaving the club should be within a second or two Comfort comes from believing in your routine.
Bad pitches and putts are many times caused by deaccelerating into the ball.
Exactly that to a tee. The routine helps your mind stay comfortable with what it is use to and you tend to execute without doubt or stress. It has been a big help.
Why i couldn’t do that on the green was odd Sat, just never felt comfortable. i believe i wasn’t picking a target and staying focused on that and was looking more just cup and speed and just doubted and deaccelerated or went to fast and was just not in rhythm. Playing at 6:30 in the morning i will focus heavily on my putting routine.
6:30 sucks. Glad you have a good routine and believe in it. My son went from a 2 handicap to a Plus 3 by developing a solid routine and always sticking to it. The “shot” started for him the moment he took the club from the bag and ended when the club was on his forward shoulder.
Putting in all honesty is a lot about confidence once you have a pretty good stroke. But generally I would always rather knock the ball two feet past the hole than be two foot short. Thus, I sort of eliminate half the distance error.
Yeah, my routine developed over time to overcome my two biggest issues… fatting the ball and coming over the top and pulling the ball left.
Yea my routine was developed thinking to much about making a “smooth” swing and then being slow in the hitting area.
I’m still slow in the hitting area, grin… but at least I hit the ball close to the center of the club a lot.
Center of the club face always works.
Welp….we’ll be in the top 3 of this list soon. (We’re at $19 mill further down the list currently)
JJ pulling up to training camp…..
Welp, Indiana Jones sucks now.

I wasn’t expecting it to be any good. Seemed like a last pay day for Harrison Ford and the franchise. I expect it to be so CGI’d up that it has zero feel of the previous installments.
Same. Seems like Disney did its thing.
Too bad, but thanks for the review.
Loved the first movie. Third was ok and brought a few good gifs. the rest were Meh for me.
The first installments were awesome hand built sets and amazing stunts. Now its some fucking geek on a computer with CGI software. Just give it to the machines already we’re done.
Have already got tickets for new Mission Impossible. Pretty sure it won’t disappoint.
Damn straight brother! Mrs and Me go to see every new installment. Best Action Actor in the Biz imo.
Cruise usually delivers. He still cares.
Thanks for the review….won’t waste my time,
I agree with Surly…1st was really good, 3rd was O.K., 2nd was dog barf, 4th was meh..
I was looking at buying the digital copies of the first 4 movies, but they were asking close to $50 for the bundle. Now that the new movie is coming out, they had a sale for $19.99 for the 4. I bought them for that price. While all of them aren’t great, they bring back great memories of my youth.
Thanks Wrenage. I will probably watch it anyway, but will wait until it comes out on a streaming platform. If I can watch it for close to free, then I can pretend I’m watching one of the Saturday afternoon SyFy movies.
Lol
It sucked back in 2007/8 too. Shoulda been left alone

Less than 3 weeks until the team starts real practice for upcoming fake games!
Feels like a down year to me. I think as usual O’Connell & Flores will get just enough out of the teams to more of far enough down thee draft board so we miss out on the top ten talent and be completely unleveraged at the QB position. Can move up enough, Cousins has all the contract leverage. WTF is that stupid Somalian pirate even doing?
9-10 wins, maybe one playoff loss.
Enough to keep the stadium sold out. That is all they are after.
You are correct good sir.
Bullshit…minimum 11 wins
All things considered I expect a much better version of the Vikings this year…so even with a more difficult schedule it will be at least 11 wins.
Think we’re still in the best defense is a good offense mode. Flores will be more agressive than Dumbotell but a wet kitten would be tougher than that. I’m sure he will apply more heat, not sure we have the tools tho.
Yea, I hear you there. If the offense is putting up 30+ every week then it takes a bunch off stress off of the d.
Hoping our run game doesn’t disappear this year when they’re up 2+ scores.
One would hope.
Looking at flores to pull a bellichek and get the most out of guys nobody has ever heard of.
Might be less of a year w/l wise, but actually improve a lot on both sides of the ball.

Actually I only wear white golf shoes – go with anything.
Shame about Seve, what a great talent.
