Another beautiful weekend is almost upon us! We have a football game tomorrow morning, our last regular season game of the season. I hope the kiddos can put together a good performance going into the playoffs. They’re a good group of kids, hoping they can stay injury-free and have a good time.
Kiddo and I are going fishing Saturday night into the wee hours of Sunday morning, so getting up for the game will be a challenge, but we’ll be up & ready. I hope the Vikings are also able to put together a good showing as well. The defense has looked pretty good so far, but the offense has yet to find their footing, let’s hope they can find it against the Browns on Sunday.
The game still isn’t over and I’m tired, forcing myself to stay awake & finish watching. Holy hell, the 9ers just forced a fumble on the goal line as they were fixin’ to lose the lead. This will be a close one.

Back from DC. Got a lot done and wife is very pleased with how trip went overall. For me, reminded how much I miss NOVA in the fall.
But one aspect of the trip was a big plus for me. I am a huge fan of the movie Casablanca. So watched it on the flight up and the flight back. If I flew tomorrow, I’d watch it again.
Oh, and despite the government shutdown, TSA actually had its act together.

I lived in uptown Mpls back in the day right next to a predominantly Somalian neighborhood.
All I know is that my car insurance was twice as high, the local market stunk to high heaven, and they ran across the street to avoid me when walking my dog.
I have no idea if they’re nice or not. Just my experience. Very different culture than most of the U.S.
They are a very different culture indeed.
Got to think the ‘climate shock’ is pretty traumatic after going some such a warm climate to the winters/hell in Minn. The crime should be similar just without machetes.

Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, and many others play on this tour, and it’s gonna fold soon (IMO). Then what? The Teacher texted me from Hawaii and said ‘it reminds me a lot of Santa Barbara’.
I had told her I didn’t need to go on a ‘Hawaii vacation’ as i grew up in SB so the beach wasn’t anything special to me.
I go to the beach once or twice a month now. I used to go almost every day. My wife and I would drink a little (me not so much, but she’s a fish) and enjoy the sun and the waves. I like the beach at sunset, and the the Gulf of America provides me a great view whenever I want.
The coastline has a lot of memories for me. But I find the beach pretty boring unless you have kids and are watching them enjoy it.
Well, bikinis are always a draw… grin.
I feel awkward wearing one of those.

Madison’s Federalist No. 57 where he says the goal of a good constitution is not only to put wise and virtuous people in office, but to keep them virtuous while they serve.
His solution wasn’t complicated, and involved frequent elections, short terms, and a culture of vigilance which were meant to ensure that public officials never forgot who they worked for.

That’s a little snarky. McCarthy to date has played in less than 10% of the games played since he was signed to be the QBOTF, hasn’t even practiced in that missed time frame, due to two separate injuries induced by (fan’s eye, my opinion only) relatively minor contact in the setting of reckless open field running. In the whopping two games he has played, the majority of his time he looked…not good.
You can criticize Vikings fans for not being on the JJ bandwagon, that’s fine, but so far I’m not impressed.
Remember, we have the QB whisperer coach OTY.

Oh no, the youngest QB in the league didn’t look like a first ballot hall of famer in his first two starts. Better cut him now. Now if he would have started like Bo Nix last year, maybe we’d have something. Shoot Bo threw his first TD pass in like his 7th start. That is what a true future of the franchise looks like.
Exactly Bow. Listen to yourself. The youngest QB in the league, didn’t look good. Why? Because he’s young and doesn’t know shit. Duh. Bo Nix showed in his first year, he was way more pro ready than McCarthy. In fact he demonstrated those traits in college. To date, McCarthy has not.
McCarthy isn’t all that yet. He has a long way to go. KOC said it out loud. He needs 10,000 reps and 10,000 hours. So relax. He might actually be very good in a few years.

Too many people are ready to throw him out already. Actually, in his first two games he looked better than Bo Nix in his first two games, but the difference is the Broncos, and their fans, actually gave him a chance. By the time JJ is Bo’s age now, he will be signing his second contract. Bo came in with more experience. I expected him to look more competent initially, but I think JJ’s ceiling is higher but for once Vikings fans need to be patient. The negativity of this fan base is exhausting. I swear, when the Vikings finally win the Super Bowl, half of the fan base won’t enjoy it and will still find something to complain about. It must be that “Minnesota Nice” thing.

By my calculations, that puts us about the middle of 2028-2029 season. Jefferson will be hitting his prime about that point.

It will. The Vikings line is always ugly, even at full strength. I think they are mentally incapable of performing well (as a group, mostly guards and center), may it be coaching or their own deficiencies.
The Vikings really have tried to bolster the lines on both sides of the ball over the years, but for some reason the best laid plans seem to fall short again and again.

i know most if not ALL of you have been waiting with bated breath about my possibly new home purchase etc….
we signed the purchase agreement last night for our new place. we will be listing our home within a week and praying for lots of interest.
the kids are SO excited and i have started my search for a good smaller 4wheeler for them for the property. i want to get something that isn’t as powerful as most, since they would be driving one for the first time

Since you’re super mechanically inclined, I have a little 90cc one you can have. It doesn’t start though. I replaced all the wiring, got it to start once, but something was crossed. Got that fixed, it started again, but when you pushed the throttle it died. Put a new carburetor in it and it hasn’t started since. We did put a sweet custom Vikings paint job on it though. That’s probably why it almost starts, gives me hope and then dies.

We also take ownership today of a couple of hundred acres of the neighbor’s place, plus the homestead. Eventually I’m gonna rent a mini-ex to demolish the original home, and my wife has all sorts of fun ideas for the newer home. I’m excited to have another shop to park my toys and woodworking stuff, and to gradually destroy acres of sagebrush with my 3046R.
I have a feeling your place is much more scenic than my dirt.

That was definitely part of the appeal for me, I now own my viewscape to the horizon in three directions, and there is a family lease on my view to the south and the owners don’t seem inclined to sell it anytime soon.
There is a lot of back and forth in our county about wind development and at least I don’t have to worry about seeing the stupid things to the north, west, or east.

Do you guys have these idiotic electric scooters and e-bikes with kids as young as 6 or so riding them in Anaconda? Little shits are flying along at 25+mph, darting from the sidewalk across the street, no stop signs, etc.sans helmet.

Got bad news last night, my sister who has been battling cancer was told by the doctors there is nothing else they can do. She is the reason I am a Vikings fan, she took me to my first game in ’87. It was the Vikings Vs. the Raiders, with Bo Jackson.
Wow. That is very sad JV. Just try to keep her comfortable and love on her. I lost my sister two years ago, so I know what it’s like. We will keep you in our prayers.
I remember you writing about that game and the experience you had with your sister in that.
