Vikings/NFL News
Two games today, and both are important for the AFC playoff picture. I expect Baltimore and Cincinnati to both win, but I have heard that I am wrong a lot.
The NFL Hype machine is in full force with their advertising the Sunday Night game. It is a huge game for the NFC playoff picture. Nothing else really to be decided Sunday other than Tampa winning to knock the Falcons and their severely overpaid backup QB out of the playoffs. In case you missed it, I am a Tampa Bay fan tomorrow. Denver needs to win and they are in. Fun times. Vikings winning tomorrow would be huge for the playoffs, but even if they stumble, I feel this team could go on a road trip tear like the Raiders did long ago, and win it all.

Detroit will pull some tricky shit – But BFlo knows that and I think will be prepared. Cashman motivated. Greenard & Van Ginkel too. And KOC is no slouch as a play caller. Sam dealing. Jets/Addison best WR duo in the league.
Still need the vintage Hitman performance. A few sacks, a few TFL’s, a pick 6. Feels like a good way to end his last regular season game as a Viking.
I think we piss in Detroit’s punch bowl tonight and send them home to pack.

The two things that give me extra hope is that we have Hock this time around and that their defense is even more banged up than last time.
The two t things that make me more nervous is their home field advantage (even given the 1.900 extra Viking fans) and concern about turnovers (mostly due to Viking PTSD).

Bo Nix was my favorite QB in the draft. I think he’s shown great promise this year, and I see a long NFL career ahead for him.
He looks good today but he is playing the Chief’s JV team.
I’ve watched a couple of his games this year. I’ve seen some good decisions, and some really good throws too. I think he is getting better and better. Nice improvement and solid play. I think next year he’ll be a top 10 QB.

I had some REMF time, we all did.
My time with A Co, 2nd Bn 6th Inf, Berlin Bde gave me perspective that I needed.
I would say working in Army Casualty and reviewing the casualty reports every morning made me fully appreciate the tip of the spear guys.
That would be a hard/difficult job.
Remember all those figures as people not just statistics would be problematic I suspect.
And for some events, there were pictures.
But by far the most moving part of the job was talking with and meeting the next of kin. To this day, I can’t really describe it.
Treating those ‘next of kin’ with grace, compassion and dignity would be Job #1 I suspect.
Doubt I could do that job. We were trained to be ‘notification officers’ during Desert Storm. I dreaded the very thought of having to do that job, thankfully I wasn’t needed.
Today is one of those stay inside kind of day. It is 5 degrees out.

so I went for a nice 5 mile hike yesterday in Washington’s Crossing State Park. It is the location where George staged his troops for crossing the Delaware River on 12/25/1776. My hike ended at the burial site of an unknown number of soldiers who died due to illness or injuries before the crossing. Only 1 tomb was morked with identification, the rest are just field stones in the ground. They do not even know if each stone marks a single body, or multiple.
It got me thinking of, and thanking, these men, who almost 350 years ago gave their lives to start this country, The Great Experiment, as some would call it. I could not help to wonder if these brave men would be proud of how the “experiment” turned out or embarrassed. Probably a bit of both
Mostly proud I would suspect.
‘Woke’ is mostly a pimple on the ass of this great country.
