Wow, we ask for something big to happen, and we sure got our wish yesterday! Yesterday, the Vikings signed the running back who led the entire world in rushing last year (the XFL world, anyway). I would imagine that this move will push the Vikings to the top of the major power rankings, other teams should be VERY worried.

Minnesota Vikings News:
Alright, well the Vikings can stop worrying about their running game after losing Dalvin Cook. The Vikings signed RB Abram Smith, who led the ENTIRE XFL in rushing last year, acccording to MSN.
The Duluth News Tribune brings us a recap of last night’s Vikings night practice, the first night practice of this preseason with thousands of fans in attendance.
Vikings.com gives us three observations from last night’s practice at Vikings training camp.
ESPN has a list of the 2023 bye weeks for all 32 NFL teams. The Vikings’ bye week is week 13, which is a later bye week than I remember the Vikes having in quite a while. It seems like they’ve been getting early bye weeks every year in recent years. Maybe I’m just losing it.
The Browns came back to defeat the Jets in the Hall of Fame Game, final score was 21-16 Browns, per CBS Sports.
The Packers’ President has been named in the Northwestern hazing lawsuit, from CBS Sports. There is no hazing in the Packers’ organization. You’re already forcing guys to live in Green Bay, I can’t think of a hazing that would be any worse than that punishment.
The Bears have signed Yanniock Ngakoue to a one-year, $10.5 million deal, according to NFL.com. I’m not sure what the all-time record is for number of teams played for, but Ngakoue has to be close to breaking it. Also at NFL.com, they listed numbers 11-20 in the NFL Top 100, and the Titans released RT Jamarco Jones after multiple training camp fights. Man, we’re only a week into camp and this guy has gotten into multiple fights? I’d hate to see how the dude behaves when there’s an opposing team on the field. It seems like he may need some anger management, maybe give yoga and/or meditation a shot.

Here is the immortal legend Waylon Jennings with Drinkin’ and Dreamin’. Waylon had his own sound, and is one of the best ever. Enjoy!
To make room for RB Abram Smith, the Vikings waived fullback Zach Ojile the team announced on Friday.
Rookie Ojile had a successful rookie tryout and he received a contract in May. His hometown is Blaine, Minnesota, and he played college football at the University of Minnesota Duluth, mostly as a tight end.
Welp, the Bears have released DE Jalyn Holmes…

Friday, guess everyone is whoring around. Stay out of jail boys.
Nope, just fixing screw ups from incompetent people.
Then you’ll have a job for life.
I am not whoring around, took a half day and spent the afternoon on dad daughter date with my oldest, she just finished sucking down an icee, great day

Happy Friday y’all!

Once more than enuf, i’d say.

What we need is something like this for the entire Eagles team for week two… grin.
Na let’s play them at their best, no excuses.
Reports from camp make it sound like Cine’s issue isnt coming back from the injury, its between his ears and processing the role and being in the right position. Im 60/40 on him being a bust at this point. You can be physically gifted but if you dont have it between the ears you are done in the NFL.
i mean, he literally had an entire year sitting there rehabbing to learn EVERYTHING.
he’s a bust.
@not his fault. it’s the scheme@
@not his fault. he hasn’t had the same DC his entire career@
Isn’t the concept the same as in college?
Line up across from the guy, follow him on his route. Don’t let him catch the ball, and if he does, tackle him.
Since the team is off of practice today, I wonder if there will be any dog emergency stories emerging….
One down
That sucks.
Depth guy. Not massive but not great either
The dline sucks at generating pressure and has limited depth, not great either way
oregon and Washington joining big ten… why do we even have conferences anymore?
Read this week that they might get left behind as the Pac 12 disintegrates.
The two Arizona School and Utah are expected to go to the Big 12.
USC and UCLA already headed to the Big 10.
Wash St, Oregon St, Cal, Stanford will be the only ones left.
Pac 4? doesn’t sound nearly as good.
It’s all about dollars and the playoff.
It’s bullshit

You have something else planned?
Your appointments/tests have been moved back a week I understand.

Laughing… indeed.
this reminds me of a bit of history you may recall.
In 2012, unemployment had been high for some time. Several months before the election, Rush limbaugh predicted it would come down to 7% right before the election. Sure enough, right on time the number (7) came out right before the election and was used as a political prop. Then, of course after the election. the number was revised just like above.

Dude was great in Breaking Bad.
Also played the assassin in Scarface that Tony Montana killed.
Did he play Ace Venturas neighbor as well in the first movie? Mr. Schikadance?
Yup
Thats the first role I know him from. When I saw him on Breaking Bad I started laughing because I could only think of that scene.
73 Sunday. May have to break out the Under Armour.
Pouring rain here. Thank goodness. It was dry. Hopefully the rain contains something that kills grasshoppers.
Dryer than a popcorn fart in minny but rain is coming with new front.
Rained here all day yesterday and last night…first rain in two weeks was starting to get dry but it’s lush now. Course today should be perfect with the sun out now.
It was supposed to start raining yesterday morning here, then rain yesterday afternoon, this morning, this afternoon and all day tomorrow. We have yet to get a drop. Accuweather said the rain was going to start at about 11 today. There has not been a cloud in the sky all day. I never trust the weather man, but I don’t remember ever seeing them this far off.
Carlin nailed it.
“Weather forecast for tonight: dark. Continued dark overnight, with widely scattered light by morning”.
“Today’s weather will be warm and sunny. Unless it is cold and rainy”
One more week of true summer weather will happen in August.
Beyond that, it’s over for you northerners.
2 seasons in minny. Hot………….and cold.
2 seasons for us too – really hot and sorta hot.
Seriously, believe DE is a lot like VA – I do miss the springs and falls of the mid-Atlantic region.
NC is pretty nice we get all fours seasons but Spring and Fall can be abbreviated. Can get humid in the summer but really not that bad but I’m a southern boy so use to it. Now places like Columbia, SC are on a different level of hot and humid…those places bother me even…just too stifling.
Growing up in Illinois – flat as a pancake and few trees.
Driving thru rural VA in the fall with the rolling hills and all the color of the trees was always spectacular to me.
If you’re close to Ashville, I hear that is a great place too
It’s pretty toasty here from Jun thru Sept.
85-90+ most days.
But fall and early spring are very refreshing.
Snows maybe twice a year and rarely stays on the ground.
Brown and crusty looking though from Nov to Mar.
NoVa is pretty much the same.
Nova Scotia? Are you Canadian like MT?
Only when I’m drinking whiskey.
Yep.
That area does get more snow than we do.
West of the Bay gets snow, while we mostly get rain.
I always thought the two seasons were, winter and road construction.
LOL, true. More orange barrels and cones than anywhere in country.
Or winter and construction
always rec Scarlett…
Camp news seems slow, or maybe it’s me that’s slow.
Havent practiced yet today
Edit: Today actually looks like an..off day?
Usually around 2, on the field. Just saying in general.
Yeah but looking at their schedule on the Vikings website, theres nothing listed for today. Although those could just be practices open to the public
Think there are 14 days open to public, not real sure.
Players are off Friday and scheduled to return to practice Saturday.
I haven’t been camping since my kids were born, I think next summer the oldest will be big enough to go with me.
Camping sucks. Cut him.
I like camping, guess I should be cut!
No heat, no bugs, it’s ok.
Every time I scan through the page looking for new “purple” unread comments I stop on that purple Lizzo pic. Delightful.

Hopefully you had a Lizzo sized lunch at the cafeteria today.
Got a email saying my Chase account has been cancelled. Never had one. This a sequel to a scam? Ever happen to anyone?
We get about a dozen similar spam emails a week.
I guess getting all these pop quizzes and testing emails to educate me about phishing etc in health care is paying off cuz I don’t even waste my time reading them.
I have a copy & paste auto reply to all spam with my name/dob/ ss#/ checking / saving account and 401-k user names and passwords. Always here to help my fellow man.
And that’s why you are a good Lib.
Yes lol its happens to everyone every day. I get texts and emails about my Wells Fargo account monthly, never had one. Just delete and move on.
I delete dozens each week. My email account is threatened to be deactivated every month for the past 3 years because I won’t “click this link”, I would need a new garage to hold all the prizes I have won and only need to “click here” to claim, there must be a hundred bill collectors out there looking for me because I haven’t paid all the mystery invoices for items I’ve never received that I delete.
Wonderful world, if government ain’t taking someone is trying to scam you out of it.
Remember the good old days when the only time your phone rang was when someone you know wanted to talk with you…the only mail you got was handwritten letters from friends and family…you didn’t carry around a supercomputer in your back pocket and on your wrist?
I do, i’d take them back in a heartbeat.

GA Skol – I’m sure they told you, but keep this in mind to prevent a surprise:
With GA’s porn watching he’ll be good to go by tomorrow night.
lol…just posted the same gif at the same time
In that case, GA Skol better get busy…
Will this help him get there?
Should do the trick.
How da hell you gonna ejaculate 20 times when they told you to wait 3 months.
So iv been using a pull up bar at home for close to 3 months now and I gotta say, its really nice. Days I work at home I just throw it up in a random door way and when im caught up, or walking by to get some water I just stop and do a few different pull ups. Then I just throw it into my normal home routine. Its helped a lot.
Live look at Kfey:
Lmao hanging on it from the wrong end, what a dip shit lol.
LOL…
Read some material by Pavel on “grease the groove” and Easy Strength – a lot of on line material. The way you are doing pull ups is grease the groove. Both ways are great for getting strong without killing yourself.
I will have to look that up, Iv watched some videos to make sure my forum is good.
Me working out…
Hey, at least you’re at the gym right?!
Nice.
Although when
Chuck NorrisI do them, they are called Earth downs. That’s great! If you can do ten pullups in a row you have passed one component of the Navy SEALs PST.
I am guessing those are the wide grip , palms facing away from your right? Those are the hardest for me. I think I can only do 5 lol
Yup
Navy SEAL PST Standards
PST Event Minimum Standards Competitive Standards
500-yard swim 12:30 8 minutes
Push-ups 50 80-100
Sit-ups 50 80-100
Pull-ups 10 15-20
1.5-mile timed run10:30 9-10 minutes
I was told you were supposed to angle yourself more than what that guys doing, with your back out and bringing your chest to the bar instead of being straight up and down.
Sorta right. You want to be in what’s called a “hollow” position, so you can pull straight up and down to chest.
Once in hollow position, pack shoulders, then pull up.
If you missed it last night… bears signed Ngkwoue
No one missed it. Lifer posted this news already.
Late as always
Meh…he is over the hill….
Not really, he is just a one trick pony thats easy to scheme out. However, I bet he strip sacks Kirk at least once this season.
Booth is gonna be out awhile (CLASSIC). KOC comment didn’t sound to thrilled
He’s a bust been saying it since we drafted him before he ever stepped on the field. He has all the bad traits you don’t want in a corner.
TL;DR BSF version: He sucks, cut him
I just posted that above.
He sucks.
Cut him.
How would we grade Kellen Mond’s performance last night??
Meh??
I mean he didn’t suck…
Never watched a second.
He had like, one good pass the whole game and its against scrub comp. He did suck lol.
I thought he looked very bad, and it was against weak competition.
He sucked and the rookie who came in played much better, Mond threw like 20 passes for under 100 yards and had a pick, the rookie threw like 10 passes for the same yardage and did not throw a pick. Mond is trash.
I wanted the Vikes to draft that UCLA guy. I think he’s gonna be decent in NFL but with Watson on the team he wont see the field anytime soon
He looked great imo…great plan to sit and learn from Watson minus how to schedule massages.
I honestly didn’t watch any of it…just saw his stats and read a tweet or 2. Consensus here in Viking land is he sucked…
Which doesn’t surprise me.
I watched some, I just can’t help myself.
seems Zim had it about right.
I’ll let TLC answer this one
Minnesota now in the business of funneling state money to communities that have been disproportionately affected by enforcing the laws against marijuana use.
Its one thing to legalize pot, but quite another to pay reparations based on enforcing the laws that were on the books.
We are getting more and more cultural refugees from Minnesota moving to Minot.
Minnesota unveils new program to provide ‘reparations’ to communities over-policed for marijuana offenses | Fox News
I’m on my way…you should actually vemo me some cash to pay for my move since you’re responsible for paying for all this. I’ll send you my link, hurry up.
Who voted for this? Or are politicians acting unilaterally with no input from the State’s populace?
The house and senate of the Minnesota legislature have a solid Dumbocratic Majority…so yes, basically the people of Minnesota voted for this.
No citizens voted directly for it, but the majority of the stupid people in this state voted for those reps who passed the bill.
Pathetic
“Disproportionately affected” from what? You have a hurricane or something up there?
From being more criminal than the rest of the populace.

How about people who worked their asses off and were disproportionately taxed. Walz and his cronies can suck my……………..
Yeah, people are fleeing MN.
Don’t send any more liberals to Florida.
Thank you!
I’m on my way, round trip to Florida then MN to have all you pay my way in life! Thank you!
Bring your clubs – time to get into low 80’s.
LOL, I’ll buy you a beer!
The liberals are staying , the conservatives are fleeing…Minnesota will become more and more like California.
Don’t worry, the liberals are loving this, but anyone in the middle or to the right is forced to tolerate it or leave.
Hope you are right. during and right after covid ran into lots of folks from Michigan, Illinois and New York. Many were fairly liberal but soon learned to love no state taxes and being able to go to the store without getting mugged.
Florida actually prosecutes criminals…it is an amazing thing.
And we have police officers that arrest people.

Ukraine is a very corrupt country with a lot of bad things going on. Russia invading them though puts the world at risk due to the strategic and economic gains they would garner if successful. Ukraine has been the buffer between Russia and the NATO countries for decades and now that buffer is threatened. To keep Europe (and the rest of the world) safe from Putin, keeping Ukraine free is a tactical necessity. When Russia took over Crimea, we knew this day was coming, and Trump made it clear to Putin he would not allow Russia to take over Ukraine. Biden was just what the doctor ordered though, allowing Putin to do whatever he wanted, and of course went the “sanctions” route to deter a military invasion. Then our politicians play Ukraine up as a victim to authorize hundreds of billions of tax payer money to fight a proxy war.
These are the idiots Putin prayed for.
Very well stated, NVF.
You’re probably right about strategic importance, but I’m not completely sold on that – too much on the domino theory and Viet Nam during my younger days.
Still, I’d feel a lot better if The European countries were footing the majority of the bill.
The U.S. is far from the only country fighting this war by Proxy, but we are the heaviest contributor. This is not a domino theory BTW. Although much of the struggle is military from a geostrategic perspective, that is not where the story ends. Ukraine’s economy, resources and the country’s bountiful rare earth elements are also the motives. Plus all the access to the Black Sea and it’s oil reserves would be under total Russian control.
Russia has wanted the Ukraine for a long, long time for the reasons listed above. Putin understands he is aging, and his chances to pull this off were waning. When Biden was elected, he decided to make his move.
I know you’re right. I just think the Ukrainians are a bunch of criminals and about anything Biden does, i’m skeptical of .
Ukraine is a hugely corrupt country and despicable is the correct word to describe it. That said, The Russians would take an immense leap in pretty much all elements of its National power, should they successfully take it over.
You’re going to make me think Biden actually did something right.
Dr appointments today? Hope all goes well.
Yes, NLNV, hoping you find some treatable explanation for your symptoms.
Just got a call about 30 minutes ago. Apparently the radiology place has a new “system” and “everybody” is learning to use it. They just requested the authorization from my insurance company from my doctor via fax last night. My doctor’s office sent it off first thing this morning, but they said it will take several business days to get the authorization. Thus, my CT scan for today was cancelled and rescheduled for next Friday.
Can’t make this shit up.
Hang in there bud.
I’ll say this much…preauth does a ton of work behind the scenes making sure billed studies will get paid…no margin no mission…and you don’t want to be left holding the bill. I’m assuming you’re Medicare with a secondary.
My insurance is complex and it has caused no end of issues. I retired from my Civilian DoD position and kept the FEP Blue Cross Blue Shield Group insurance I’ve had for a long time. I was hired as a special consultant and now work for a company that provides Cigna health insurance. Since I’m past 65, I also have Medicare.
My order of precedence should be:
Cigna
Medicare
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Cigna had it as
Cigna
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Medicare
Blue Cross Blue Shield had it as:
Medicare
Cigna
Blue Cross Blue Shield
I have recently gotten Medicare and Cigna on the same page, but Blue Cross Blue Shield is still dorked up.
My wife has the BCBS FEP insurance, its fantastic.
It is, and I thought when I retired, keeping it would be beneficial. Right now though it’s useless as it’s my tertiary coverage. It’s really good insurance going to waste.
I would like to clarify the “Ukrainians are a bunch of criminals” comment.
I’d agree to some extent.
I’ve talked with a somewhat distant relative (great grandfathers were brothers) who is a Russian speaking Ukrainian in Odessa.
He would 100% agree that the countries politicians are corrupt. However, they see the source of the main corruption as the system Russia left behind, and believe that by moving towards the European union they can escape the current corrupt model.
He explained the Russia model as a system of “kompromat” on Facebook. Kompromat is a Russian stable for doing business and politics. It is dirt that each and everyone keeps on their underlings.
Basically every billionaire ogliarch has stolen or taken government bribes. They have to or they are thrown out of the political system.
This way everyone above them can literally charge them with corruption, and you have power over those below you.
An interesting example he pointed out was Roman Abramovich. This is the guy that owns the Soccer clubs in England (he thought I might know who this guy was, I really didn’t until a few years ago)He is a billionaire, and Putin sent him off to be governor of the far-eastern province of Chukotka for 7 years in the early 2000s.
Why?
To have dirt on him. This is the system that is in play. Everyone must take money, and everyone above you has the dirt on you. This is also the way Ukraine is run.
So in the minds of the average Russian, they are fighting to free themselves of the Russian model, and embrace a western style of government.
Unfortunately, the desires of the more or less honest people is perverted by the view of their ruling class.
It does not help that Trump has also decided to paint everyone associated with the current Ukranian government as corrupt nazis to further his political career.
I can tell you that there are many good Ukrainians, and they are fighting to rid themselves of this corruption.
And they see the western model of government as the way to get there.
Tochno tak.
Thank you – thoughtful. My criminal comment was mostly directed at the politicians.
Yeah, I get it, Putin saw an opportunity because the US has weak leadership right now, FTG. You have any knowledge beyond what the media has said about the Wagner mutiny?
I think it’s much more than the right trying to sell this as a bad look for this administration. Everything always trying to turn something in to Biden’s mistake or fault. Anyway Ukraine although may have illegitimate aspects is not the crime country the right makes it out to be. You look at their history of persecution and it’s ugly so naturally they have issues. They were a functioning democracy headed in the right direction and wanted the next step of being part of NATO because being on the doorstep of Russia was eventually going to go bad because Russia’s economy is built on a house of cards, Putin and his oligarchs have sucked every ounce of treasure out of their country and saw Ukraine as an easy next step to countering NATO and robbing Ukraine of all their resources.
See this for what it is, a blatant invasion by a dictator who’s own economy is teetering with insolvency and now with the war going completely the wrong direction has ensured his own demise. We should be supporting Ukraine in every way possible to end the Putin regime as soon as possible.
Lifer You are indeed a gentleman – Ukraine was a “functioning democracy.”
They were doing a good job bribing American politicians, so that’s something.
I didn’t say it was Biden fault or a mistake, but Putin saw an opportunity because he perceives Biden as weak, especially after the way he withdrew from Afghanistan.
See mate, this happens when you swallow government propaganda hook, line and sinker. You are able to regurgitate it beautifully, but it´s pretty far from the truth.
Try to search for more independent information on the internet. Oh I forget, government calls alternative news sources “fake news” (fact checked even!), so you won´t 😀
LOL.
This thought came racing into my brain this morning as I was listening to “christian” radio station that was running a wellness segment.
“If you want the most accurate online health info, choose sites with .gov, .edu, or .org….”
Why in the eff would I listen to anything from a government or university website, after they lied about covid?
This exactly. They are constantly lying, covid being a prime example, and we are still supposed to believe them? LOL indeed.
Ben, what I know about the Wagner Group and Putin I cannot discuss.
Well that’s not any fun.
As I mentioned early, I have some distant relatives that I have chatted with on Facebook in Ukraine.
He’s in his late 50s and actually was in the red army in the 80s. Interesting guy.
Anyways, He pointed out that when Russia attacks a town, first thing they do is hit the hospital, sewage and water treatment plants.
So basically you know that you will be living in your own filth with only a field hospital in case you get wounded.
He doesn’t even disagree with this. He thinks its sound military strategy….he’s probably correct.
He posted that almost no one will surrender to Wagner. They’ll just torture and then kill you.
He has even posted links (not on Facebook) of Wagner torturing Russian soldiers. Shit that would make you vomit.
I kinda assumed so but had to ask.
I blame a huge portion of this on Biden, but for slightly different reasons.
I think his withdrawal from Afghanistan gave Putin the confidence that Ukraine would collapse in a similar manner.
Putin has called himself a modern day Peter the Great. He has made no secret of coveting Ukraine (already took Crimea), Belarus (working on taking through political means), Moldova (Russia has a defacto piece already-Transnistria), Georgia ( he set up a breakway republic called South Ossetia) chunks of Poland and the Balkans.
You talk to people in Poland or the Balkans, and they get it. If Russia is not stopped in Ukraine, they will grab more land. This is no secret. Russian politicians openly talk about taking the Balkans. They even mention taking chunks or all of Poland as well.
Before invading Ukraine Putin published a manifesto on how it was not a real country.
He says the same thing about Poland. Just last week he said this.
“The western territories of present-day Poland are a gift from Stalin to the Poles, have our friends in Warsaw forgotten about this? We will remind you,”
Putin also claimed that Poland owes its independence to the Soviet Union, and that they can and will take it away if they want.
Anyways, I have relatives in Odessa so I’m not really the most impartial person to discuss Ukraine with.
I meant Baltics, not Balkans.
me dumb.
For some reason I confuse the two a lot.
Well it´s not like NATO has been encroaching on Russia in the last decades despite promises to the contrary… Poland, Hungary and others being dumb enough to join NATO, as it were. Yes, Ukraine was the last buffer, without iut NATO would have been directly on Russia´s border. I can understand why Russia doesn´t fancy this development.
This war was set up in at least 2014, after some American three letter agency orchestrated the coup known as Majdan and installed the corrupt regime that is still in power now, making way for takeover of the Ukraine by American interests, aka the Biden crime family and others. After the Ukros started terrorizing and killing the Russian minority and their own people sympathizing with Russia it was only a question of time.
As for Krimea, it was a always part of the Russian state until Khrushchev felt the need to gift it to the Ukrainian Soviet Republic in the 60ies. Ukros don´t have a leg to stand on, I would very much welcome the Russians finishing off that shithole as soon as possible.
This guy killed himself with caffeine, I’m guessing he wasn’t certified like Lifer.

Is it me or does KAM seem to somewhat continually go after injured players?
It does seem that way. I wish he would get another quality Guard.
There are no quality guards out there. Zero. Risner I believe but have not confirmed has a medical issue that are keeping teams uninterested. There are plenty of teams out there needing IOL and have cap space and are not scheduling him for visits.
KAM just popped a boner]
Maybe get one that isn’t injured

He probably gets groceries from the scratch & dent shelf too.
I always check that shelf, don’t always get something but once in awhile I find something good for cheap.
How do you post a video from my phone here?
I’m sure there is a way I’ve never done it. You probably have to post it on a site that converts it to it’s own web address that you can post.
Probably have to convert it to a gif, there is a size limit for posting a strait up vid or pic.
Upload to the YouTube
Ok.
So It’s not easy and I’m too old to figure it out.
Thanks all.
To post the video, take your phone…
We were discussing “energy savings” a week or so ago.
Here is why you can’t trust the “green” nazi’s and the government when they make all of these “saving the environment” claims.
The next revision will show it will cost consumers MORE money to enact these regulations.
Of course.
There isn’t a number coming out of Washington you can trust.
Correct, here’s some evidence of that
Politicians and their ploys and plans at work…
I’m all for protecting the environment, but these people are buffoons spending trillions of tax payer dollars globally that are making things worse, not better, in the name of climate change.
Same, we should protect the environment and preserve nature, but I’ve been told since I was a child we need to save and plant more trees, but then I just read scotland cut down millions of trees to make space for wind turbines, doesn’t seem to add up but whatever.
Wind turbine blades can’t be recycled, so they’re piling up in landfills. Companies are searching for ways to deal with the tens of thousands of blades that have already reached the end of their lives, but right now wind turbines are generating a huge environmental impact.
Wait, WTF, aren’t they made out of metal?
Too heavy and inefficient. Takes more energy to move them they would generate.
How much heavier is aluminum than fiberglass?
I’m not a biologist…
LOL, ok Ketanji Brown Jackson
What are wind turbine blades made of?
Around 96% of a wind turbine is made from recyclable materials. Their outer shell, shafts, gearing and electrical components are typically made from steel, copper, aluminium, other precious metals and recyclable plastics.1
There are more than 8,000 parts to one wind turbine and they can have an operational lifespan of up to 25 years (most last around 20-25 years).2 They can mostly be recycled at the end of this working life and have increasingly been made from reused materials that have already been recycled.
The blades are made from different materials, most of which is fibreglass. The average blade on a typical onshore wind turbine measures around 165ft (50m) in length. However, there is a growing trend for taller turbines – often found offshore at sea – with blade spans of anywhere up to 260-290ft (80-90m) in length.2
Are the blades disposed of or reused?
Fibreglass is not totally recyclable. It’s non-biodegradable and made up of a composite of very fine strands of plastic and glass, which is extremely difficult to process at the point of recycling. Instead, it’s usually discarded as waste at landfills or incinerated.
However, while most first-generation commercial blades are being treated as waste, not all of them are destined for landfill. There are several innovative ways their raw materials are recycled to be used in other building materials or repurposed entirely in new structures.
Engineers and scientists have found a way to turn fibreglass into a key component used in the production of cement – an important material used in everyday construction. They are also finding ways to repurpose turbine blades as structural elements in their entirety – these include bike sheds in Denmark, noise barriers for highways in the US, ‘glamping pods’ across festival sites in Europe, or as parts of civil engineering projects, such as pedestrian footbridges, in Ireland.3
Interesting to me that they would build a “green” turbine and have massive parts made from non recyclable product.
Thanks for the research, Lifer. My question is what do they do when a blade fails/breaks? I see the major staging operations they do with the road train hauling these blades to the wind turbine site west of us…pilot truck ahead and a couple of flaggers behind…they gonna do that to haul a blade to the landfill or recycling plant? That is a lot of resources dedicated to transporting a blade.
I don’t care, I feel environmentally due to all of the wind farms in North Dakota…
I’m thinking there’s a market for a big portable shredder that you can feed the blades into after end of life, spraying the shredded blade into a dump truck.
It’s not as simple as they cut down a million trees, that’s half the story. Europe is way way ahead of the rest of the world in sustainable eco system management. They’ve been planting and preserving millions and millions of trees for decades. It’s a balance and I guarantee they have the carbon and offset calculations done on that specific wind turbine project to ensure a net effect of energy savings and carbon reduction. It’s written in to their development laws as countries. They can’t get the permits to do such projects without addressing the environmental effects. This is just being used by anti climate rubes as SEE SEE THEY’RE CUTTING DOWN TREES!
Yeah maybe you’re right, only thing I know about Scotland is that’s where scotch comes from, well that and I have Scottish ancestry.
Again, nice piece of propaganda you are publishing here. Far from the truth, though.
What would you know. Lifer knows what is happening in Europe way better than you do.
SHOCKED! SHOCKED I TELL YOU!

Takes me back to HS.
Night Practice Overview:
-Second straight practice where Harrison Smith is getting free rushes off the edge as a blitzer in the 2-minute drill. First-team offense struggling to pick those up.
-Addison is just killing it at camp this year. I mean more than JJ did as a rookie, not saying he’s better but he’s routinely burning every corner and safety with his route running precision. Another beautiful redzone vet level TD here:
-Ivan Pace is receiving praise from Flores and getting runs with the 1st defense and making his mark. Seems like he might be a solid contributor.
LOL, so he can beat a bunch of scrubs, be curious to see how he plays against decent competition
So making plays and beating the “scrubs” isn’t a bad sign it’s step one in the process, a trend and what practice scrimmages are for. Diminishing them to paint the perception they’re not valuable is just baseline doomerism.
It’s clear he and Kirk have a connection, have had no less than 4 td’s in the past 3 days. If that’s an unvalueable aspect for a rookie to develop in their first professional camp then I guess we should just do away with training camp and practice all together.
Having success in training camp is certainly better than the alternative. We all know that when the real games start we’ll see what the offense has, and if Addison is the real deal then. Hopeful he is.
Yeah, its good he’s beating the scrubs, I just want to see him against some legit corners.
I’d remind everyone that JJ certainly didn’t flash as much as this kid has. Doesn’t mean he’ll be anywhere near JJ’s level but it bodes well the kid is understanding the offense, where he needs to go and be and is in sync with his QB and has strong hands at the point of contact. Those are great signs for a young WR early in their rookie camp. He’s building from a level most Rookies don’t hit until further in to their rookie season.
Just to clarify, I’m not an Addison hater like Skolly. I thought it was an interesting pick but the right decision if they felt he was truly BPA at the time. I questioned his athleticism initially since I hadn’t really watched him, but it looks to me like he’s athletic enough to get open in the NFL, at least so far against lesser CBs.
Kirk the brain summed up why he’s doing so well….he stated that to be a successful WR in the NFL you have to have a triple compliment of skills,
1. You have to be studious and know the plays and study defenses to be able to understand what you’re seeing and how to adjust to it.
2. You have to naturally be athletic and or physical to create separation.
3. You have to be able to have strong hands at the point of contact, there are very tight windows in the NFL, you will be grabbed, you be hit and there will be other hands on the ball as it comes to your hands.
So far Addison has shown those 3 skills per Kirk.
Nice throw and catch!
GM!…Bears get a decent fit on defense.
That guy is the Kirk Cousins of guaranteed money for DE’s.
He is for sure. I loved the 10 sec video he posted this offseason from a beach dressed up in workout clothes, he ran 10 feet in the sand and posted “Grinding in the offseason ready to join a contender”
That guy just might play for all 32 teams
He’s just trying to catch up to Fitzpatrick.
I was just going to say he’s the defensive Fitzmagic.
